Any word on fix to battery issue for Mountain Lion???

I have a Early 2008 MBP and my battery life has really suffered... I purchased a new battery about a month before installing Mountain Lion. Since installing Mountain Lion on July 26th I go from 100% to 90% in the matter of 10 minutes and very hot . This is not acceptable. I am trying to wait until Apple comes up with a fix but, I'm starting to get really frustrated. I realize my computer is over 4 years old but, it meets all the requirements to run the upgraded Mountain Lion but, if this problem is not solved soon I will revert back to Lion. I am wondering if anyone has heard any time table from Apple???
Thank you in advance for any and all info...

We are just users like you and have no idea about what updates Apple may release.  Also, I have Mountain Lion and have the same battery life as I did with Lion.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • Has anybody figured out how to fix the battery consumption with mountain lion (using a MBP 13")?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and yes despite all of the warnings posted in the App Store reviews about the battery life being cut in half, I upgraded my MBP anyway. Chalk this one up to the Black Cloud of "I Told You SO!" My MBP could hold a charge for almost 6.5 hours. Now I'm luck if I can get 3, but in most cases I may get 2.5 hours if I'm conservative.
Has anyone figure out how to fix this battery problem? Even now after having it unplugged for almost 2 hours...I'm getting the "You are now running on reserve battery power" message. What a freaking joke!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Open /Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.  Click %CPU until the triangle points down beside it.  Make sure it says All Processes in the upper right.  Check for applications taking up lots of CPU time.

  • Battery Issues with Mountain Lion

I'm sure I'm not alone here.
Ok, first, a little bit about my machine: mid-2011 MBP, 13", 2.3 GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM.
Ever since upgrading to ML from Lion, the battery life has decreased exponentially, from 7 hours to 4. The battery capacity dropped at least 2% since the upgrade.
The other problem I have is the ocassional sluggishness that comes with waking up the machine.
So, if you're having similar issues, are you waiting for Apple to fix it with an OTA update or are you doing something about yourself?

10.8 has decreased the battery life. It will be fixed in an update. http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html

  • Forget the battery issue for a moment,

I think the battery issue will be fixed, I think there are many reasons for it, I'm not going to speculate. What I would like to know is if you can forget the battery issue for a moment, What do you think of the 4S itself, the camera, mirroring onto apple tv etc...have you been happy with the phone and its functions and if it didn't have a battery issue right now would you reccomend it? I'm thinking about buying two of them and that is a substantial investment, just wondering if it's everything its cracked up to be...Thanks!

Yeah it's a good phone.  It's my first iPhone.  I came from a Droid Bionic, so I am use to no battery life.  I usually charge it at my desk at work and it last all night until I get back to work.  I listen to music on my car, so it's tied to the USB input to my car, so I don't really have an issue with the battery.
The camera is really good.  For a point and click, it's fast and the pictures are clear.  They only thing I run into, which is on every phone camera is smudges on the lense.
It took a lot of getting use to going from the Bionic 4.3" screen to the 3.5" screen.
I don't have the Aple TV set up, so I can't answer that.
What I like about Apple products?  They work.  Very simply, they just work.

  • I have recently bought my Mac mini ( July 12) and have already requested my free update code for mountain lion, got a reference nr, but I still haven't received a code via email to update? Its been 12 days. Any advice?

I am still in the return window but i really do not want to return my mac as i know it has the ability to do what i want, my problem is just finding the software that will work as i know there has been a lot of complications with OS X Mountain Lion with softwares that caim to be compatible but then later turn out not to be.
I have been a windows user for years and this is really my first mac but apart from the hole software issue i find the mac 10x better than any windows computer i have ever used. For example i bought a HP laptop 4 weeks ago and has nothing but problems. At first the fans stopped working and making weird noises and then it began switching off when ever it felt like it and freezing like mad when i was trying to access the smallest program. I have found that now a days you dont get what you pay for with Windows especially since Windows 8 was released. Also Laptops such as HP now are just crammed with cheap parts, they dont take pride in their systems like they once used to unlike Apple. I know i will get more than a year or 2 out my mac (hopefully a lot more) but with windows systems it just seems to break all the time costing more money on extending warrantys. Also i like mac because i dont need to send it away if i ever get a problem, i can just take it into the apple shop half a mile down the road and they will fix it in store. Where as with windows i am waiting 2 weeks+ to just hear back from them.

  • I have installed mountain lion on my early 2009 macbook (not unibody) and it is terrible, it's like owning a windows pc again (almost) What can I do? I paid for mountain lion, is there any way of giving it back and getting a refund?

I couldn't see any reason why it would be bad for my particular macbook, and it downloaded without a problem.

In what way is it terrible? Mountain Lion is pretty stable. If you are having problems, most likely they are unique to your particular system and can be fixed. If you don't like some of the new features, that does not constitute reason for a refund.
If that does not suit you, you will have to discuss a refund with Apple, as they are the only ones who can say. Note that the App Store terms do say that all sales are final, so you are not guaranteed a refund, especially since whatever problems you had are not due to defective software.

  • Any Idea when Apple will email the redemption code for Mountain Lion?

Any Idea when Apple will email the redemption code for Mountain Lion? I got a code but it said it was invalid on the app store. When will this issue be solved? Kind of getting impatient, given I dropped 2k over their product...

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it.  I think they do a free diagnostics.  That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.
Good luck....Hope you get it sorted out.

When trying to update getting (error surle error domain error-1100). It started yesterday, any help would be great. I have Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a new macbook pro with retina display.

There are many people suffering from this problem right now (including me). It appears to be a server issue. Just wait and try checking for updates again tomorrow.
Some things I have heard indicate that this may be a regional problem, though what parts of the world are affected I don't know yet. A few people have been helped by deleting the following preference file (paste the path into the Go -> Go to Folder window in the Finder to locate it), though most have not:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Note that if you are trying to download iTunes 10.7, that can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576
Also, note that there is no reason to be anxious to get it, as the only thing added in iTunes 10.7 is compatibility with iOS 6, which will not be available until the 19th, and the new iPhone, which will not be available until later as well. The new iTunes that was announced is iTunes 11, which is also not yet available.

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Please include the "binary images" section...

  • Has Apple done anything to address the issue of Mountain Lion's inability to support Epson printers? I have a Stylus Photo RX620 that now is useless. I am not a computer geek so would rather not try to do an uninstall of Mt. Lion and go back to S.Leopard

Has Apple done anything to address the issue of Mountain Lion's inability to support Epson printers? I have a Stylus Photo RX620 that now is useless. I am not a computer geek so would rather not try to do an uninstall of Mt. Lion and go back to S.Leopard

Have you tried to open System Preferences, then Print & Scan and then try to Add + a printer?
I have an Epson RX580 and am using OS X 10.8.2 and it is working as a (Bonjour) printer.  My Epson RX580 is plugged into my AirPort Extreme and I can print over my wireless network to the RX580.  However, I do not see any Scan options with this setup.
Anyone know anything about getting the scanning portion of the RX580 to work over the network like the printing function does with my Airport Extreme?  Or can I not "share" a scanner over the USB port on the Airport Extreme?  I know, kind on topic/off topic - but I think it fits under OS questions better.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • HP still doesn't have Print drivers for Mountain Lion?

A couple of months ago, I upgraded my MBP (mid-2008; 2.4 GHZ) to Mountain Lion.  I am now running OS X 10.8.2.  Once I completed the upgrade, I discovered that I was unable to print to my networked HP Laser printer  (It is an HP LaserJet P1606dn).  The printer appears as one of the selectable printers, but there is a message stating that I need software from the manufacturer in order to print.  So, I checked HPs website and discovered that the product is unsupported in Mountain Lion, but that "a software update is to be issued in Fall 2012".  I just checked their website again, and here is what I found on the product support page:
Product Supported Soon in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
HP is committed to providing the best product experience for the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion operating system.
Today, a solution for your printer is not available for Mountain Lion. However, a driver update will be available in 2013 .
HP aspires to provide the most up-to-date information on HP drivers and software. Please check back for updates.
Has anyone found, or know of, a work-around for this issue?  I have not been able to use this printer from my MBP since upgrading.  Once I disovered this limitation, I defered upgrading our iMac to 10.8, so that I am able to print from at least one of our computers.   Appreciate any solutions anybody may have found to this limitation.  It seems unfathomable to me that HP could have a mainstream product like this NOT supported in 10.8, especially since the operating system has been on the market for many months.  And to state that the driver will be "available in 2013" is grossly unacceptable.  We'll be on 10.9 by the time they get around to updating their drivers for 10.8.
