Any wy 2 hve itunes loded on an extnl drive to be abl to dspl music on driv

is there any way to have itunes loaded on an external drive and have it as a stand alone version which could possibly be able to display music on the external drive. frankly I hate how PCs and windows organize music in its opperating system form. I share a lot of my music and others with artists in the area I live in. how can I set up a drive to have an itunes loaded up with the music also on the drive to be able to let others who want to access the drive and add and delete songs do so but in a much easier form i.e. itunes. is there a way to make an external drive a portable ipod which can share data with any computer it is hooked up to but already has imported music

Not sure if i understand your question exactly, but it sounds like you want to create your own library on your portable hard drive, that you can open on any computer. If so yes, but you can only open your personal library on a computer that has iTunes already installed on it. Firstly, plug your H/D into a computer that has iTunes on it. Don't open iTunes, if it's open, exit it. Click on the start button and choose all programs, locate iTunes, hold the 'shift' key down and at the same time click on the iTunes icon (it has to be done this way, don't use the short cut on the desk top or system tray.)You should get a window that now gives the options to choose or create a library. If not try again, I sometimes find I need to do it a couple of times for the computer to behave(!?) Select the create option. The first thing you are asked is where to save it, choose the location on your H/D you wish to save it in, the rest is easy. You can use this method to create a 2nd (3rd or 4th etc) library on one computer if you wish. Once the library is created, to open it you need to follow the same directions with the 'shift' key, just select 'choose' instead of 'create'. If you try to open iTunes via the short cuts it will open the last library that was opened, so if you are using someone elses computer don't forget to re-open their library when you are finished or they are not going to have a clue *** is going on! Also for your own benefit, it may help to rename your libray to jdionysus's library (or whatever)for ease of selection when 'choosing library'. Good luck.
