Anybody come across this before?!

Hi
I've had my MPB now for a couple of years now. But occasionally it will freeze with blocks of green lines across the screen (see pic).
Also there is a series of 3 beeps. (which i read somewhere was a RAM issue).
It has been in for a Logic board repair a couple of times and nothing was found on the apple store diagnostic. I also heard it could be a logic board issue.
My Mac has a 8g 3rd party Ram installed, could it be this?
Any light on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

The three beeps does indeed represent a RAM problem. Install the original RAM and see if that will stop the beeping. Macs are very selective when it come to RAM. Even with the exact specifications, some brands of RAM will not work properly in a Mac.
In regards to the display, it may be a GPU or display issue. If you have a monitor, connect it to your MBP. If the monitor display is identical to the MBP, then it is a GPU problem. If the display is 'normal'. then the MBP display or display connection is faulty.
An appointment at an Apple store genius bar should be able to determine the exact cause.

Hmmm, anyone come across this before?

Running latest edition of itunes and everything great until last night! For some reason when opening itunes I now get this message in an alert box (titled Microsoft visual C++) over itunes - 'Runtime error! Program C:program files/itunes/itunes.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. PLease contact the applications' support team for more information.'
I can't then access itunes and when I close the box the program also closes!!
Any suggestions / help out there?

Just go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, remove Apple Update Program.
Worked for me. Will this cause problems later on by uninstalling this? Right now, I don't really care.

I've installed my iPod 60Gb and everything runs smoothly when I use iTunes to update - I've started both a manual and automatic (checked items) update, at some point during the update the iPod disappears from iTunes, and when I use the Windows O/S to eject the disk and reconnect it I end with a file corrupt error on the iPod database. I've tried transferring files through a third-party app usinfg drag-and-drop, with the same result - a couple of hours or so into the operation and the iPod disappears from my system.
Anybody got any ideas?

I've done a restore (in fact I've done several restores) what I'd really like to do is to get some music on there and have a chance to listen to it.

Encryption issue with Xperia Z2 - hangs intermittently - anyone come across this?

I'm on my second Z2, having returned my first for what I thought at the time may have been a hardware issue.
Basically the device intermittenlyhangs and the screen cannot be switched on with the power button on the side. It needs a reboot via the Power and Volume up buttons. I can reliably reproduce the hang by downloading one of the 6 free movies to my SD card, but it also happens intermittetly when I'm not using the phone. If it hangs during download, the charge rapidly drops (eg from 100% to 69% within 30 minutes) and the unit gets very hot.
I bellieve I've isolated this issue to enabling encryption for the device and SD card. Without these options enablied the device is rock solid. I have reproduced the issue on my replacement. phone. No apps other than those supplied out the box were installed at the time. Having subsequently removed encryption - a huge pain as it meant a factory reset , reformat of my SD card and re-download of the movies due to the DRM - the phone is rock solid once again.
Encryption is a standard feature of Android, which I've been using on my previous Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 with no problems whatsoever, so this is quite worrying if it is a bug. On a non related note - I disovered also that the backup application does not work if encryption is enabled.
Just wondering whether any other Z2 users on the forum have come across this issue so far?

Just posting a follow up.
I've done some testing and I seem to have narrowed the problem down to the use of the Sony Movies application with encryption enabled on the Z2.
If I launch the Movies application and start a download of one of the 6 free movies, and leave the phone alone, then it eventually hangs as I've described in my OP. If I press the Power button shortly after the hang happens the screen does not switch. If I hold the power button down the Z2 spontaneously reboots If however the phone has been in the hang state for a while then it can only be recovered by using the Power and Volume+ buttons.
The hang also occurs if I launch the Movies application and leave it running in the background. The phone eventually goes into the hang state. The battery charge rapidly drains down during the time the phone is in the hang state, losing 30% or more charge in a short time.
If I do not launch the Movies application then the phone appears stable with encryption enabled. If I do not enable encryption then the phone is rock solid. This behaviour has occured on my original Z2 and on the replacemement that my mobile operator sent me, as I orginally thought my first unit had a hardware problem.
I've sent a description of the issue to Sony via the "Contact us" link on Xperia Care Support. Hopefully this will be addressed.

Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. When I boot on Recovery and run verify disk, the error doesn't come anymore. Just when I run verify disk on normal mode. Anybody has seen this before?

My Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) has been freezing out of the blue probably once every two months. I restarted on safe mode, went to Disk Utility, repaired permissions and ran "Verify Disk" and got the following:
Invalid directory item count(It should be 114483 instead of 114484)
File system check exit code is 8.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired using the Recovery HD. Restart your computer, holding down the Command key and the R key until you see the Apple logo. When the OS X Utilities window appears, choose Disk Utility.
Rebooted on Recovery mode and ran "Verify Disk" but the message didn't appear anymore, thus not letting me to access the "Recovery HD" procedure.
When I restart normally and do the disk verification I get the same error.
Has anybody come to something similar?

I never ever run a Verify Disk. I simple repair the disk drive and then the user partition(s).
And do one or two Safe Boots.
Also helpful to have two full backups: TimeMachine at least, plus a clone of your system drive and data.
Install or clone the system to an external hard drive, repair that and then boot from it, check that everything works, repair the internal drive.
You need to use Repair to TRIM an SSD.
Lots of problems with Yosemite when updating install a new OS. Always better to backup, erase, install, and then use Setup Assistant to import and restore settings and files.
Probably better to post in the MacBook Pro forum or better yet, in Yosemite forum.

L2TP w/ PSK unable to connect via the phone dataplan, has anyone come across this?

I have been messing around with this on my Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.0.2 and have confirmed the following settings for VPNs to our corprate firewall.
PPTP over Dataplan CDMA -- Everything works fine
PPTP over Dataplan LTE -- Untested due to lack of availability where I live and work, will test at a later date.
PPTP over WiFi -- Everything works fine
L2TP over Dataplan CDMA -- Connection timeout
L2TP over Dataplan LTE -- Untested due to lack of availability where I live and work, will test at a later date.
L2TP over WiFi -- Everything works fine
OpenVPN not supported without rooting the phone -- Verizon please add this functionality into your base ROMs for all of your phones.
The reason I ask about anyone coming across this or having a fix is PPTP may work but it's old/insecure comparitively and may be going away in a future stable tree release of the corprate firewall I work with. The full support of L2TP and/or OpenVPN/SSL-VPN would make life a lot easier for us techs who need to bounce into a server quickly and do what's needed when having a PC at hand is impossible, ie at a sitdown resturant. If you need logs of the connect attempt let me know and I'll get them to you. I did however see this error posted on the Samsung Fascinate forum as well.

As of yet no, they are on my list of people to call but I won't be able to get to that call until a little later, once I do call Verizon Tech support I will reply with the post here if it hasn't been answered by someone who has come up with a workaround on the issue.

I am trying to load Nikon Capture NX 2 software onto my 1 year old iMac without success. Any one come across this problem?

Are you aware you can import photos from your camera using the Image Capture app in your Applications folder without using the Nikon software?
Launch Image Capture then connect the camera to a USB port.
The camera should show up under Devices top left side of the Image Capture window.
Now look at the bottom left side of the window. Click the: Connecting this (device) opens: pop up menu and select an application to import your photos.
You can also select a folder to import photos from the Import To: pop up menu.
Selet the photos you want to import then click Import or Import All on the right.
More help is available from the Image Capture menu bar. Click Help > Image Capture Help

Every time I record a midi region, all the the the regions before are glued together with the one just recorded.....it's GrrrrrREALLY anoying ??
I've used Logic for years and it's never done this before. Is it a bug or just me seeing things

Password Incorrect ?!! Anyone come across this?

Just bought a new MacBook and an Airport Extreme base station. No problem. My Alienware, my Sony Mylo - no problem. Then i try to log on to the network with my older PowerBook G4 and the wep password suddenly doesn't work! error comes up "password incorrect". it worked fine with the MacBook, Mylo and Alienware!
I thought maybe i needed to upgrade the PowerBooks card from airport to airport extreme but i now read that that it is supported. PowerBook is running OSX 10.3.9. Airport firmware version 8.70
this driving anyone else crazy?

Was it working before? Which WEP key type are you using: Password, 40/128-bit ASCII, or 40/128-bit Hex? If you must use WEP, I would suggest 128-bit Hex in a mixed (PC/Mac) environment.

The older AirPort cards connect just fine with the newer AirPort base stations, when the base stations are running in either 802.11b or 802.11g/b mode.

Thanks for the hint but I just discovered that it was the id that I assigned to the Label in s:ItemRenderer that was causing this error. I changed id value from 'owner' to 'owner1' and that took care of that error. If 'owner' is an existing property in the class hierarchy of s:ItemRenderer, shouldn't it give some "Identifier used more than once" type of error?
In any case, I'm closing this case and hopefully someone familiar with this fundamentals of this issue will throw some light on it.

Anybody come across this before?!
