Anybody else getting black bars on Finder items names?

I never had this before, pretty sure this is a Yosemite issue.
When I enter a folder (and almost always the problem occurs with those on /Desktop) at first the Finder window doesnt show any content,
though the Statusbar shows "1 item". When I close the Finder window and open the folder again a black bar appears over the name of
the Finder item.
Running Yosemite RC on latest high-end rMBP.

I have exactly the same problem like you said.
It seems to be a common issue on rMBP mid-2014 running Yosemite.
Here's another rMBP user having the same problem.

Why do I get black bars in my .mov file (AME CS4)?

I got a .wmv. It has the size 720*540. Everything is fine. No black bars
Except ... I need the file as a .mov.
When I encode it in AME and choose Quicktime I get black bars in the right and the left sides of the movie.
In AME I can see that my source and my output sizes are not the same. The output size is only 720*480, but I can't change it to 720*540.
What can I do to get rid of the black bars?

As Jim's answer indicates, some codecs enforce specific dimensions. Most relevant here is the fact that codecs intended for television are strictly constrained to the sizes for television standards. You have chosen an NTSC (National Televison Standards Council) codec in the Video Codec menu, which gives a rather strong hint that this is one such constrained codec.

Unexpected error: unable to find item name at page or application level

I upgrade my application from apex 3.0 to 3.1
I created a new page.
When trying to insert a new row, on clicking "create", the page displays the error :
Unexpected error: unable to find item name at page or application level
This error didn't appear in apex 3.0
What this error can be? Is it a bug of APEX 3.1?

Keep getting black bars (letterbox) on DV AVI export...can't figure it out - suggestions please?

I hope someone can help -- have tried every setting and getting quite frustrated.
I've on may occassions edited a VOB file in Premiere Elements 3 and then did File>export>movie> to get a DV AVI file. Usually the results are fine.
This time I'm using a PAL widescreen DVD, so I've adjusted the settings to PAL and widescreen, but for some reason I'm getting a very distorted letterboxed result. However, if I export to MPEG, it comes out perfectly.
I have no idea if this is the best approach, but how I've always done it without problems. I'm basically trying to get an avi file so I can then convert it in Quicktime Pro to a quicktime file for uploading to my website as QT (and as a flash video using the QT source). The only reason I don't export directly to QT is I always find the outcome really bad converted through PEL vs. in QT.
If anyone has any suggestions why I'm getting my AVI file letterboxed, please let me know. Thanks for any suggestions!

I just installed PEL v.7 that I also had, and still getting side black bars! So frustrating. Really appreciate any other suggestions.
Also, just ran the VOB through Gordon Knot program and it says my original aspect ratio is: 1.422
I can convert to MPEG fine, but just need an AVI so I can convert to quicktime. THanks!

Why am I getting black bars on the sides of my widescreen assets?

I am importing video, shot and edited 1920x1080p23.976, into Encore. The goal is to burn a DVD from this asset. I've tried exporting the project (from Premiere CS5.5) in every format on the list, and no matter what when I import it into Encore it show up in the monitor with narrow black bars on the sides. The assets are correctly being formatted for 16:9 (non-square pixels), but the video is just not filling the screen. This seems like it should be a simple thing, why can't I get this?

I'm going crazy trying to get the footage to actually crop. I have sequences imported from my Premiere project vis Dynamic Link. If I go into my quality presets inside Encore CS5 I can setup a top and bottom crop as in Ann's screenshot and then switch to output. It looks perfect. But when I save that as a new preset and apply it to my clips, the cropping does not apply.
I have tried over and over, new presets, double checking over and over and while the preset is applied, the crop does not kick in within Encore monitor or within the DVD preview. pillarboxing (black bars) are still present.
I don't understand why Encore has a cropping feature and then COMPLETELY IGNORES the cropping feature. Am I missing something.
So far all I can figure is to setup a new sequence in Premiere for every Chapter that is set to DV 24p. Then drop in the main sequence which is 1080p and resize it in the motion settings to 45.6% so that it fills a DV frame. At that point I can import that sequence to Encore and it looks fine.
Is this the best Encore can do? I would really rather link up the full 1080 sequences because otherwise I'll have to rebuild the entire thing if I want to make a BluRay.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or know how to get cropping to work on Encore CS5 (Mac).

Is anybody else getting external MIDI clock tempo issues using Logic Pro 9 and OSX Lion 10.7.5?

I am having really serious tempo issues when sending midi clock to any external device - The tempo wavers and alternates around 5 bpm above and below the tempo set, and to be frank is totally unuasable when trying to clock arps from hardware synths.
I have the problem both with Logic and Ableton LE, as well as through both my MOTU Ultralite and Focusrite Liquid Sapphire 56 interfaces. I am therefore presuming this is a MIDI issue with the actual computer (MacBook pro, bought new last september).
I moved to Mac from PC, so I'm not totally up to scratch with the Mac architecture yet - can anybody shed any light on why this is happening? It's driving me mad!

Yes.. I do see the occasional minor variations much like yourself when I sync up to my Oasys or more usually the Motif... to a fair sized and complicated project,,. Maybe +/- 1.. or on rare occasions +/- 2 bpm... but nothing close to the OP's +/- 5 bpm experiences...
It actually got better for me when I installed 10.8.x... along with the newest Motu drivers.. and in fact I can't remember the last time I had any unworkable issues with syncing though admittedly I haven't done that much syncing recently.
I do have a project coming up in the next 10 days.. that will require me to use the Oasys synced to Logic so I'll make a note of any issues i have and post back if any occur.
As an aside, I have recently been doing a lot of work with iPad Instruments and Arp Apps and Logic... and the sync as been rock solid over USB...

Find item name from item id

We have a library procedure that accepts block id as parameter.
The procedure fetches some block realted information from the database. So, it needs to refer to the block name.
Is there any way find the block name from block id?

Filter finder Items... broken? (also request to help streamline script)

Let me begin by saying that I've done the SAME THING for a long time with this Automator script, and it's worked flawlessly. I recently added some now automator actions (and later deleted them) thinking they were the culprit of why my "filter finder items" was showing no results, but I'm not sure at all at this point.
Here's the script (that has been working fine until at least the 7th):
It's long, so bear with me (I use this script to install custom Sims2 content when I download it:
("Get Specified Folder" uses the "Get specified finder items" action, I just didn't want to type that every time).
New Folder: Recent (in my downloads folder)
Get Specified Folder: my downloads folder
Get folder contents (repeat for each subfolder found)
Filter finder items (name contains .package)
Copy Finder items (to Recent)
Get Specified Folder: my downloads folder
Get folder contents (repeat for each subfolder found)
Filter finder items (name contains Sims2Pack)
Move finder itmes (to my core download folder (they're generally in subfolders after downloading, as are the .package files)
Get Specified Folder: my downloads folder
Get folder contents (repeat for each subfolder found)
Filter finder items (name contains Sims2Pack)
Copy finder items (to Recent)
Get Specified Folder: Recent
Create Archive (on desktop named Sims2)

And that concludes the script. I know it could probably be streamlined (another reason I'm posting the whole thing) but it worked until very recently, and I don't know what could cause it to no longer report results after filtering within the subfolders while within the main folder works fine.
To clarify, it's recently been simply deleting the MTS folders and creating a "Recent" folder and archiving it but it's empty. So the script is not filtering for the Sims2Pack data nor the .package data as it used to.
I haven't modified the script, and I've deleted all actions that I downloaded recently (backed them up in case they're not the culprit). Also ran disk permission repair but nothing was repaired in regards to Automator.

I removed the step where it was saving it to the desktop. If the filters ever work again, this should therefore go faster than before.

"get specified finder items" in automator pulling more than specified

In part of a larger workflow I copy 5 files to my iDisk. In the next step I select one of those items again using 'get specified finder items' from the same location, add a date to its name in the next step with the 'add date or times to finder item names' then finish the workflow.
However what is happening is the 'get specified finder items' I'm using to grab the file to be renamed, is actually grabbing all 5 of the files from the previous step. Only the one is showing in the 'get specified finder items' list but it grabs all 5 anyway.
Anyone see this before? Know a way to fix it?
