Anybody experience with Mac Leopard or Tiger on Equium A210-17I

Has anybody experience with Mac Leopard or Tiger on an AMD Toshiba? I read about some folks installing it on AMD and Intel and wondered how it could feel and work on an Equium. I have A210 17l.
Thanks for your input.

It seems to be that you are alone with this idea. If you will try it in the future please post a little bit about it.
Good luck!

  • Connecting iMac with Mac OS X Tiger to an HPC with Windows CE via modem

    Hi,
I have an iMac G3 DV 400MHZ with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.6 and a Compaq C140 HPC with Windows CE 1.0. I dont have the original serial cable for the device and therefore cant connect it to my iMac (like its Mac compatible anyway!) I want to connect it to my iMac via modems (no not ethernet modems the antique modems with the phone wires!) so I can transfer files to it. In case you have never heard of an HPC or Windows CE (which is real similar to Windows 95) lets pretend Im trying to connect a Windows 95 PC to my iMac for file transfer and see if that works.
    Thanks

Try posting this under hardware section, you will get more response there. I doubt anyone here can help with that.

  • Has anybody experience with "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module"

    Hello,
had anybody experience with "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module" WS-SVC-AGM-1-K9 for Catalyst 6500?
We're looking for some IDS/IPS prevention system which could take 2-3 Gbits of traffic. From the documentation it looks not bad, and we can get them as used parts (6500 + Sup720 + AGM +ADM) quite cheap. The second solution is Arbor with cisco12000 as boader router (10Gbit uplink) is much more expencevie.
Arbor tries of cause sell us their solution as "Cisco Anomaly Guard Module" is ot of sale and doesn't have any new features, but from the Data sheets Cisco AGM is eactly what we need.
Or may be is there another solution which could be comparable to those two?
    Thank you.

    Hello padatta,
AGM/ADM are IDS/IPS systems, one can of couse discuss about the terms, but it won't be productive :).
IDSM2 has not enough performance and it should sit inline, ADM/AGM can change he next hop for the diverted traffic and be out of traffic path during the normal operation.

  • MacPro with both Leopard and Tiger drives. Want to switch iTunes How

I am running a MacPro with both Leopard and Tiger drives. I finally want to switch everything to Leopard and its drive. I have iTunes on the leopard drive but have never used it. How can I transfer my iTunes music, iPhone Apps etc. from the Tiger iTunes to the Leopard with the least amount of fuss?

    Hello hassiman,
For additional information regarding moving the entire library from the 10.4 partition to the 10.5 partition, see this article:

  • TROUBLE with Mac OS X Tiger install on G4 iMac 1.25 GHz

Trying to install retail copy of Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 onto an iMac G4 1.25 GHz running OS X 10.3.9. The DVD shows up on the desktop when inserted, but after clicking install and waiting for the reboot, the system just loads OS X 10.3.9 and NOT the 10.4 setup.
Inserting the CD and holding "C" during startup yields the blinking system folder with the question mark.
Apparently no firmware updates are needed and the iMac meets the requirements. Any ideas, suggestions, or workarounds are much appreciated.
I also have a MacBook Pro (Intel, of course), and was wondering if there was any way to use it to install the PPC version of 10.4 on the iMac. (Can I boot the iMac as target disk mode on my MBP and install the PPC version of Tiger onto it that way? I don't know if that will work with the intel/ppc hiccup.)
Someone please tell me how to get this working!

Yes, unless you have the original install disks that came with the computer ( with iLife included) you will have to buy iLife. However, iLife 11 requires an intel processor and snow leopard. If you don't meet those requirements you should try to find an older version. ( usually you can find something on amazon.com)

  • My 12 days experience with Mac mini (intel)

I bought a Mac mini 2 weeks ago (core duo, 1Gbyte RAM, 100Gbyte HD).
I have expected quite Mac mini, however my one was loud, in particular in an otherwise quite room. I’m still not clear from where the noise came. My best guess it is the motor of the fan, which was running all the time.
I called apple care and was told the mini should be quite and I could exchange the Mini, because is was still within the 14 days. My Mini was exchanged without problems.
For a new start, I couldn’t use the Mini at all, because the power cable was missing; another trip to the apple store was necessary.
My ‘new’ mini was slightly quieter, but definite much louder than my previous G4 iBook. I think the noise from the fan can be a problem, but I guess this is a very subjective area.
Ten days later, the computer froze (Bluetooth keyboard/mouse) whenever I plugged in my second USB memory stick. Soon later, Bluetooth wasn’t working at all. Zapping the PRAM and disconnecting for 5 minutes didn’t help. I installed a the tiger update (10.4.6 ) and the firmware update without success. Bluetooth was dead.
I bought the mini back and asked for the refund.
Pros: Extremely fast if you have the universal binaries
Cons: Rosetta is a killer, a old G4/G3 shows a faster response, but I have only experience with MS Office
Finally, Apple Care was very helpful, and Apple Store had no problems in exchangeing the Mini and later give me the refund.
PS: Unfortunately I sold my G4 iBook already and I have to stay with my first generation white iBook

    Frank,
That really does stink.. I had a similar bad experience with the mac mini only it had nothing to do with noise problems.. I got mine out of the box, my first mac ever mind you, and it worked fine for 3 or 4 days then it just wouldn't turn on any more.. tried all the trouble shooting tips; exchanged power cords; finally had to send it to my parents to take into an apple store to get fixed because I'm in the military stationed overseas and for some odd ball reason Apple doesn't have a central place for you to send in desktops to get repaired.. that still bugs me about the service but I'll get over it I guess. Loved the computer but can't say it bolstered my confidence in the integrity / reliability of macs at all.. I purchased it in early April and I still don't have it back. Kinda wish I hadn't bought a mac at all now but I guess I'll be glad to get it back..

  • 6300 modem with Mac Leopard

Has anyone had success with using a 6300 and a USB cable to connect to the internet with a Mac running OS X.5?
The Nokia instructions seem to apply to Tiger OS X.4
    Many thanks

    HI, Chaplin
this can have different reasons. The most likely is the following:
when connecting, the provider hands out an ip address through the modem to the computer. This address usually stays valid during connection time, and for a given time after disconnection (typically orders of a few hours). Thus, when disconnecting the pc, one cannot immediately connect any other computer for this amount of time. Only after the time-out period it should be possible.
using an airport express or similar thing allows you to connect more than one computer simultaneously. i think this might also be possible with other (non-wireless) devices, but i have no experience with this.
    Hope this helps

  • Blackberry-like Experience with Mac Server

I am seriously considering moving to Mac-based mail (specifically Kerio mail) from MS Exchange. I need an answer to the "smart phone" question. This is the only application I think I can't find an alternative to for this switch...
We currently use Blackberrys and the very expensive Blackberry enterprise server. I am willing to consider other smart phones, I'm not married to the BB.
But we need the kind of integrated mail experience of the BB: push mail, read/write/synch mail (reading on the handheld shows read on the server, sent mail is in the server "sent" box, etc.), read attachments (at least .pdf), live calendar synch, etc.
I see Kerio's "mini" browser app, but does that really do it? Don't I have to be in the browser on the phone for this to be useful?
Are there other applications/phones that have the kind of Blackberry experience, with a server based on OS X?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Not to sound insulting, and I can't speak for anyone else, but it seems like there are far less road warriors using macs, and I gaurantee many of them would be far less likely to use a windows like OS on a mobile phone. I personally have never been happy with any OS on any phone I have owned (samsung, motorola, nokia, etc. ALL ******!), and we have some more "road-warrior" executive types here who have the fatty nextel "windows mobile OS'es" on them and god dang it they are clunky, worse than windows, I coudn't beleive it myself.
Can't wait for apple to come out with a pda or the iphone. Usability is just as important is functionality.
Not trying to flame, but I guess I didn't really offer any alternative's. Oh well.

Changing password from single user mode:
You can also change the administrator's password from single user mode or create a new administrator account.
You need to get into single use mode for steps one and two that are listed below.
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
    http://www.securemac.com/macosxsingleuser.php
Basically, you hold down the command-s key then powering on your machine. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think.
    1) You can change the password on an account. ( Do you know Unix. You are in a Unix single user console. ) The setup commands you need should be listed on the screen. For Mac OS 10.4.11, the commands are:
    # Type the follow two instructions to accessing the startup disk in read/write:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    # Start up some utility processes that are needed.
    sh /etc/rc
    # You will probably need to press the enter key once the system stops typing.
    # To find out the users on the system type, use the list command:
    ls /Users
    # One of these accounts will be the administrator.
    # Pick one of the users which I'll call a-user-name and type it in this command:
    passwd a-user-name
    # and enter the new user password. You need six characters.
    # You will need to enter your password twice. Your typing will not show up on the screen just
    # press enter when you complete the typing.
    # For cryptic information on these commands try:
    man ls
    man passwd
The root account isn't enabled by default. I am not sure if changing the password on root will enable it.
    2) Get the Mac to set up an additional administrative account. You can then change the password on your old account.
Start with your computer power off. Hold down command-s. Power on your computer.
    Type in the following:
The first two commands will depend on your release of Mac OS X. Looked at what is typed out in the console to determine the exact format.
    # Type the follow two instructions to accessing the startup disk in read/write. Press return after each command.
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    cd /var/db
    pwd
    mv -i .applesetupdone .applesetupdone.old
    reboot
Once you've done that the computer reboots and it's like the first time you used the machine. Your old accounts are all safe. From there you just change all other account passwords in the account preferences!!
The above the idea came from a post by JoseAranda at September 9, 2006 3:48 AM

  • Anybody experience with creating timelag function with FOX?

    Dear All,
As can be seen from my former thread Katie announces that financial functions are not moved to IP. And nowadays these aren't available in BW-BPS either.
I'm just wondering if anybody has experience with creating financial unctions like timelag, allocation, IRR, accumulated balances etc in FOX?
And if so, how complicated is this. Any examples would be most appreciated.
    Kind regards, Harjan

    Hi Hatter,
    thanks for the answer.
But what do you think about the ICY DOCK?
If you only want to use two drives, OWC has a nice
$67 dual drive black metal case.
I don't think that it is fast enough. Check the parameters:
"Maximum Data Transfer Rate: 1.5Gb/s (or 100MB/sec)"
    Or FirmTek with a
much better $199 case with 3-speed fan for best
    cooling.
Yes. This is fine. Here there is:
"High-performance storage data transfer up to 3.0Gbps (300MB/sec) per drive"
But what about this ICY DOCK? Although I know that it is not the most important part when we are talking about RAID disks, but this enclosure looks really nice. Will it work as good as it looks like?
PS: beware of anyone calling a device "hardware RAID"
when all it does is use an Oxford bridge.
How do you know that there is used an Oxford bridge, and why it work bad (as I suppose)?
    Marek.

Experience with SAP Reliable Messaging (SAP-RM) from BizTalk?
Has anyone experience with using SAP Reliable Messaging (SAP-RM) between BizTalk and SAP’s Enterprise Services?
SAP’s Enterprise Services can be synchronous request/reply, what SAP calls A2X.  But many of SAP’s Enterprise Services are one-way, asynchronous. When not using SAP’s own integration solution (SAP Process Integration), SAP refers
to the use of either WS-ReliableMessaging (WS-RM) or SAP ReliableMessaging (SAP-RM). With BizTalk not supporting WS-ReliableMessaging (and not its persistent version), SAP-RM is the way to go.
    More info about “SAP-RM” @ http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAPConn/Plain+SOAP

  • Hey,.. Freezing experience with Snow Leopard

Only difficulty I'm facing after installing the Snow into my Macbook which previously used the version 10.5.8. I need to wait and count nearly 20 in my mind before the new application is ready to use. Even, my dictionary is barred for typing any word in. It's never happened before and seems many persons share the same experience with me. How such an awful upgrading experience. I like to downgrade and use the previous version. I don't if my complaint will be heard by Apple.
My thought : Snow refers to cold, very slow temperature. How could I think it will run faster? So, the name might reveal its ability.

Hi, I called the service guy, he said I might do something wrong during installing set up. He advised me to reinstall all the process with 3 icons provided in the pack. It seems better in terms of respond time but not good enough and I still curious why the availability of disc space reduced instead of increasing. I still need to work on. You may try to reinstall but don't forget to back up your important data as you may lose some.
Hope the problem is fixed soon.

I have problem seting up my time capsule to my I-Mac operating with Tiger. The wires seemmed to be ok but i think the cofiguration is the problem
    Any one can help?

I am also trying to set up my time capsule with my iMac (Mac OS X v10.4.11 Tiger) as well as my new MacBook Pro (Mac OS X v 10.6.2). I think to get the time capsule to work with my iMac, I need to upgrade to Leopard or Snow Leopard?? All the instructions that come with the TC say to use the TC with Time machine I need version 10.5.2 or later. I have set up the TC and am just starting my first back up of my Macbook, which seems to be working ok. My question is, how to get I get a back up going for my iMac without the time machine?? Do I need to go ahead with my first thought and upgrade the iMac to Leopard? Or, would I be able to hook up the TC to my iMac with ethernet cords and keep my macbook wireless to the TC?? I cant seem to find any information on this?

Hi Nick: If you are using the MacBook Pro as listed in your signature, you can update from Tiger (10.4.11) to Snow Leopard (10.6). And, unfortunately, 10.5 is the minimum requirement.
