Anybody get an XBOX to run with iMac internal Airport?

The subject says it all. My kid inherited an XBOX (not the 360) with a wireless router and the like. I've been to the airport discussion and everything seems to be focused on using the AEBS or ABS. I was curious if anyone has had success with using the internal wireless card; my setup has my cable modem going into a goosneck iMac, with airport from there to the rest of the house.

Apple TV2 with iMac via AirPort but without W-Lan?

I have my iMac connected to the internet with cable-LAN. iTunes is ready and the iMac has AirPort. I have no Wireless LAN. Will I be able to connect Apple TV 2 to my iMac via AirPort without W-LAN? (They couldn't tell me at my local Apple dealer...)

If your network doesn't have wifi, connect your devices by Ethernet, wifi is not a necessity and indeed Ethernet is always the best way to connect things on a network.
An ad hoc network created with your iMac cannot be used with the Apple TV.

Setup AExpress to share internet w/ iMac (internal Airport)

Thw iMac in house is sharing internet through on board airport: "House Computer" over Network Fastaccess DSL/Airport connection. Home office is in backyard and signal is weak so I bought a Airport Express.
When I run iMac's Airport Utility it sees the new Airport Express but doesn't recognize the onboard wireless signal so I can configure the AEx?? If I try to walk through the utility for the new device it won't let me?? Also it makes me turn off the internet sharing of the iMac.
The Airport Express is new (5/2010) the iMac is 2 years old and on OS 10.4...

Sorry, but you cannot use the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to extend the wireless range of the built-in AIrPort Extreme Card in your iMac.

Get JSP file to run with an applet tag under JDeveloper

I Created an applet and an html file under JDeveloper. with the applet tag in the html file.
when I run the html file the applet runs perfectly.
I Created a jsp file in the same project with the applet and the html file under JDeveloper. I copied and pasted the applet tag from the html file to the jsp file.
When I try to run the jsp file under JDeveloper I get
java.io.FileNotFoundExceptions for all of the jar files in the Applet tag ARCHIVE and for the applet tag CODE

Trying to get google-chrome to run with webgl under bumblebee

I have bumblebee working correctly, with both 32-bit and 64-bit applications (as far as I can tell simple proof below):

I am trying to use it to run webgl on google-chrome (and thus run google-chrome with nvidia)
When I try to run google-chrome with optirun I get:

and even with checking that the flags are set correctly in google chrome (in chrome://flags disable-webgl is disabled and Override software rendering list, or #ignore-gpu-blacklist is enabled) this doesn't work.
Now reading on the wiki page it directs me to a note in the installation section (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bu … stallation) that reminds me to install a package which I have installed (and I assume that if that were the problem glxspheres32 would give the same error?) and so I don't know how to debug this.
Any suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated

I used the following the last time (months ago) I tried running it with optirun:
optirun google-chrome-unstable --enable-webgl --ignore-gpu-blacklist
Note: I am using Chrome-Dev from the AUR, but I don't know that it matters.

Imexpire cannot get session lock when run with scheduler

When imexpire runs at the scheduled time, it produces:

I found an imexpire.lck file and deleted it, but got the same error the next day. Next, I restarted messaging, then ran imexpire interactively with no problems. The imexpire.lck file remained and was not removed afterward. Our imexpire policy was migrated from ims5.2 and is housed in configutil. Can you give me any suggestions for how to allow imexpire to run correctly via the scheduler?

Do you have coreadm enabled on your system and if so has any messaging server processes core dumped since you last restart messaging server?

Can't get videos/games to run with this

Ok, with the previous release, I ran into the issue where YouTube videos and online games weren't working after I updated, so I went through the pain of uninstalling and reverting back to an earlier, functioning version while this was hammered out. Another release came along, and that one installed fine. Now, with this latest one, I'm back to my old problem where things aren't working, and again I have to go through the frustration of uninstalling and reinstalling.
Is there something I'm doing wrong on my end that is making this screw up so often? I'm running Firefox on my netbook, on a 32-bit system. Anything more than that, you're going to have to talk me through what you need and where to find it, because I'm not the most savvy with this - I can follow directions, but yeah...not my area of expertise. ^_^;
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm now a little gunshy about updating when I see there's a new Flash release, because yeah... So please, help?

Actually, it isn't.
I'm amazed that it's 2012 and people still need and explanation of what beta means. A beta version should have most of the functionality of the release version, with only minor bugs present that will be highlighted by external users as they come across them, and subsequently fixed by the developer. If a beta version of Flash crashes every time it loads flash content, then it shouldn't be in the beta channel, rather at the alpha stage and unavailable to those outside the company developing it. If there's greatly reduced functionality to facilitate testing, then it certainly shouldn't be available to anyone other than the developers. “Videos from some websites cannot be played on FF or Chrome” (3203907). In this case, shouldn't that read, “Videos and flash animations on all websites cannot be played on FF or Chrome”!?!? And the known issue you mention is a legacy from the earlier 11.3 release. Not even the settings manager on the Adobe main Flash page works with the 11.4.400.231 beta, unless you manually check the 'Show All' option by right clicking the Flash applet. Wow, look! I've identified a bug in 11.4 beta 1! Isn't that how beta testing is supposed to work!? And lets face it, Flash 11.3 has been such a dog, people are virtually forced into installing new beta versions in the forlorn hope that the problems they are experiencing will be solved.
Next time you try lecturing someone about the software release lifecycle, make sure you fully understand it otherwise that person, who may well have a degree in software engineering and several years experience as a software developer, might wipe the floor with you!

How to get a N network running with iphones in the house??

I have 3 x Airport express (N) stations, 1 x single port ethernet adsl2 modem.
My problem is this,
I want to create a 5ghz N based 300mbps network for our 2 macbooks in the house. We also have 2 iphones in the house. When I create the 5ghz band, the iphones can't see the network. I am only using 2 of the stations, using the "extend my network wirelessly" mode. I have a spare airport that I can add to the mix if a solution can be sort.
At present, one airport plugs into the modem via ethernet, and wirelessly talks to the other in a couple of rooms away.
As I don't have the "dual band" version of the express station, is there anyway to maybe use the "3rd un-used" airport express to communicate with the others, but using a 2.4ghz signal so that the iphones can maybe jump onto that one?

You will either need to operate in the 2.4 GHz band OR get an inexpensive wired router to connect to the modem. Then connect 2 of the AirPort Express (AX) to Ethernet LAN ports on the router. Use one of the AXs to create a 2.4 GHz network and the other to create a 5 GHz network. Configure both the AXs to act as bridges (NOT sharing a single IP address).

I am using Mozilla Firebird and MS IE 6 under WinXP Pro. I have installed JRE 1.4.2 and ensured that java is enabled in both browsers. But no matter what I do, no applet will run, at all. No classes are loaded, I just get an empty "resource not found" box. I must have installed the JRE 4 times now, and the process seems to finish flawlessly. Any ideas? Do I have to patch my windows? I would really like to test some java on this pc!!!!!!

For Firebird check the Plugins Subdir or just write "abaout:plugins" the address field and hit enter. It should show you all plugins avail in Firebird.
Enable the java console (not JavaScript!!) in the Java(TM) Plugin settings.
Than a window whill show you "the work" of the Java Plugin.

Have you set the iMac to Share Internet?
Make sure all of the sharing you will need is turned on in the iMac, file sharing if you want that, etc.

Getting Software Update to run with elevated priviledges.

Hello, very new to macs. I work for a large company that has a small number of macs. We'd like to have them automatically pull updates from the web, but every time an update kicks off it pops a requests for elevated rights. As most of the people doing testing on these machines don't have the elevated rights, one administrator must continually go and update the machines. I believe the machines are all either Panther or Tiger.
What needs to be done to fix this (if it can be fixed).

Due to their very nature, Software Updates require root privileges - they could be updating/overwriting system files and an ordinary user can't do that.
If you have Apple Remote Desktop you can manage all the software updates from one machine (yours, or another admin's). The end users don't need to have elevated privileges and you don't need to get up from your desk. ARD will even let you schedule the updates to happen at a particular time, thus avoiding any disruption for the end user.
Alternatively you can log into the systems via SSH and run the command-line tool softwareupdate. Again, there's still the requirement for an admin to run them, but it can be done remotely.
