Anybody had luck with there wifi greyed out after update to IOS 7

I've been trying all sorts to get my wifi working on my iphone 4s, been searching the internet to solutions, turning airplane mode on and reseting network settings - didn't work, reseting all settings - didn't work. Some have said that if you erase all content and data, basically a factory reset turning it back into what it was when you got it out the box works, but it doesn't, for starters it still doesn't go back to IOS 6 (what it would of been out the box), its still IOS 7, when you go into setting/general/about section and look at the wifi there is no wifi address. Has anybody had any luck with solving it, tried going through apple but they say because its out of warrenty i've got to pay for a repair, seen as its happened ever since putting IOS 7 on my phone, i see that as apple broke my phone, so they should fix it for free.

This is almost always a hardware problem that requires repair or replacement of the phone. Downgrading to iOS 6 wouldn't help, even if you could.  There's a small chance that it can be fixed by following the suggestions  in this support article:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
FYI, do not try the "freezer" or "hairdryer" methods you may see posted.  At best they are temporary fixes and are very likely to cause additional damage to the phone...

  • IPad WiFi Greyed Out After Update To IOS 8.1!!!

So I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my iPad from 7.1 to 8.1, but now I find that my wifi won't work!   So I've tried all the common things to try to get my wifi working again (resetting network settings; rebooting,  turning wifi networking off in privacy settings), but still no joy. The only thing I haven't tried yet is a full reset to factory What's going on Apple?  How can an OS update kill my wifi/hardware as others are saying???

    Hi shaun297,
When you did the full factory reset, did you test the Wi-Fi before restoring from backup?  Please try that.
And it does look like you did most of the steps in this article.

  • Wifi greyed out after update

I updated my iphone last night to 7.0.2 and now my wifi is greyed out and the blue tooth just spins. I have tried all the suggestions and it still doesn't work. It can't be a phone problem when it was working perfectly before the update. My phone is not under warranty any more and I shouldn't have to replace it when it worked before the update.

    Hello Staki_85,
Thank you for the details of the issues you are experiencing after upgrading to iOS 7.0.2.
I found an article with steps to take when you cannot enable Wi-Fi on your iPhone:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset >Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings
Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.

If you are still unable to turn Wi-Fi on, please contact Apple for support and service options.

Apple Genius showed me how to fix this today!!!!! And it worked!
    1. Back up iPhone as always (just in case)
    2. Goto settings
    3. Select Reset
    4. Select Reset All Setting
NOTE: Your data all remains in tact, but you will need to reconfigure you iPhone (eg wallpaper, ringtone selection, mail signature etc as they will return to the defaults).

  • Wifi Greyed Out After OS 4.0.2 Upgrade

Well two days ago I updated my IPhone 3G to OS 4.0.2 and now I wish I hadn't....
OS 4.0 was bad enough but after upgrading to 4.0.2 I have now completely lost the ability to connect to Wifi networks.
Basically the wifi option in settings is totally greyed out and it states "No Wifi".
I've tried hard reboot, double hard reboot, reseting network settings.
Wifi worked fine with OS 4.0 but has now gone grey under 4.0.2.
I've had a good look through the forums and can't find anything in relation to a fix.The OS 4.0 update has killed so many peoples wifi is there a fix available yet for this?
If not looks like tonight I will be trying to roll back to OS 3 if I can and fingers crossed this fixes it.
For those who are unaware to make the 3G phone run faster under OS 4.0 make sure you have no Safarai pages open when not using the internet and have turned off the spotlight search under things where its not needed.
    Thanks
    Steve

I also have the same issue.
It happens when the phone was upgraded to 4.0.1
I sent my 3G to provider and they said that it is a hardware problem. Anyway since my iphone it is not under warranty they do not replace the phone.
Trying to fix the problem I restore the phone twice today. In both cases the wifi works perfectly only for a few moments and then it is lost permanently.
As a result I think that it is not a hardware problem but probably the update 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 cause the issue. With those updates apple tries to fix the antenna problem in iphone 4 as I can remember

  • LIBRARY Greyed out after updating OS to OS X10.6.1

I am sure that there must be an answer already to this question but I am afraid that I can't find it.
I have a MacBook with an external HD that I use to hold photos and music.
I updated the OS to OS X 10.6.1 and now cannot access my photos iPhoto'08 (7.1.5)
The data appears to be on the hard drive but the icon is greyed out and I don't know how to get this to open as every time I try to open it it automatically tries to open iPhoto which says that I don't have a library do I want to create a new one or use an existing one ... browse for existing one and lo and behold it is still greyed out.
Feel like I am on some surreal hampster wheel going round and round!
I have tried holding down various combinations of teh Option, Alt alt and ctrl keys while trying to open the blasted file but to no avail.
I had this problem once before and some kindly soul showed me how to open the "locked" icon so that I could at least get my data back and then rebuild the library (but lost all the metatags and changes to the files that I had made) but I cannot for the life of me remember how it was done.
Please can someone help me - watching a grown woman cry because she has lost 6000 pictures isn't pretty!
    Oonagh

    Enough
Sounds like you have a damaged database file in your Library.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • HT1695 Wi fi greyed out after update Iphone 4 on 6.0.1

Anyone still having this issue ? Im in South of Ireland and dont know where to go bought phone 2nd hand, so dont know where to take it I'm on 3 network ?

Possible solution. After researching this for a friend (iPhone 4S) here and elsewhere online, turned out he had AppleCare and a phone call to Apple solved the problem. The Apple tech told him that this occurs in less than 1% of iPhones, and is almost always related to a glitch during a system update over wi-fi. He said people spend too much time on support boards, and should be calling Apple! (lol).
The solution is to plug the phone with a USB cable into iTunes on a computer and do a manual "Back Up Now" of the iPhone to "This Computer", not iCloud. Then completely reset the iPhone to factory settings, using "Restore iPhone" in iTunes, or "Erase All Contents and Settings" in Settings - General - Reset on the phone. Then "Restore Backup", again using iTunes. My friend said this fixed the "grey-out" wi-fi settings slider, and restored full connectivity, and he didn't lose any data. Hope this helps some of you! (I personally had no problem with my own iPhone 5).

  • Wifi grayed out after update. Restored phone as new. How do I get data from iCloud without wifi?

My wifi was grayed out and my battery drains drastically after updating to 6.1.3.
I have tried all possible solutions to get my wifi back. However, nothing seems to work. I am now trying to (at least) get my battery back to normal. I read in other posts that restoring the iPhone as a new phone > drain battery > full charge might help.
I did the restore as new phone and do not want to restore from back up. I just like to manually back up some (not all) data I've lost and keep my phone like this, like new. How do i back up my messages and photos from iCloud if my phone wont connect to wifi?
    Any ideas?
Is there another way to get my photos and messages back aside from doing an iCloud backup?

You can't view or extract backed up data at iCloud.com. AFAIK, without a WiFi connection, there is no way to retrieve your data. You'd need another iPhone to restore your iCloud backup to in order to retrieve it. Of couse this would require either doing an out of warranty replacement for your existing phone, ot borrowing a phone from someone, erasing it, then setting it up using your Apple ID.
You could make an appointment at an Apple store to see what the genius bar can offer you.

  • Images Greyed Out After Updating Muse

I updated my Muse to version 3.0, Build 645, CL 772478.
When I Export to HTML, all of my images in an image frame (on multiple pages) get 'greyed' out. If I hit the Refresh button, I briefly (for a split second) see the image appear, and then revert to grey.
If I go to edit ONE of the pages, select the image, shift the image one pixel right (with the arrows), and then back one pixel left, and then Export to HTML, it fixes ALL of the image frames (on ALL of the pages).
I'm pretty sure this is a bug in the latest release, because it NEVER did this in any previous version.  Once I put the images in, they have always shown up after Export to HTML.
Now, they disappear (revert to grey) after Export to HTML, even if I DON'T edit the page on which the image appears.
    Anyone else experience this?
Anyone from Adobe have a solution?
    Dave.

    More Diagnostic:
The FIRST time I Export to HTML, and make any change to the site, ALL of the Image Frames get greyed out.
As soon as I then click on one image, move it one pixel left, and back one pixel to the right, and then Export to HTML (again), ALL of the Image Frames are back to normal.
If I try doing both things (make a text edit PLUS move an image left and then right) before Export to HTML the first time, the images are still greyed out.
It's only after making the change to one of the Image Frames, and Export To HTML a second time, that the images are fixed.
Hope this helps diagnose my problem.
    Dave.
