Anybody Here Using Epson RX680?

I've just started trying a few things with my new printer, and I'm starting to think I purchased the wrong one.
I wasn't able to print a borderless photo in iPhoto with this printer. I had a border on one edge.
Envelopes (at least, #10) seem to cut off the left edge of the return address, unless you move the text towards the middle (making it look pretty bad).
User's Guide indicates envelopes should be fed with the flap side on the left, print side up. In fact, I've found the flap side has to be on the right (at least with Pages and Easy Envelopes widget).
Printing envelopes using Microsoft Word 2008 is even worse. The text isn't oriented properly. No idea how to fix that.
Making a copy seem to work fine.
User's Guide doesn't really do a good job explaining how to insert the CD carrier for printing onto a CD....I'm still not sure how to do this.
All in all, I'm starting to think I should have kept my Canon i960!
I don't know if this is a Leopard problem or Epson printer driver problem.
(BTW, I'm using the current driver from Epson's web site).
Any positive experiences out there?

Yes...I did get an answer from Epson. Not exactly what I'd hoped to hear from them, though. (Pasted below). I haven't tried their solution yet, I'm afraid.

Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
The OS 10.X operating system does not appear to recognize the #10 envelope
size correctly, so it may print addresses in the wrong place on the
envelope. This issue is not specific to one model of printer; you may see
this issue taking place with various manufacturers and models of printer.
Thus far it has been reported from both Word and Appleworks.
Workaround:
In order to have the envelope print relatively close to the desired result,
you will need to select envelope #9 rather than envelope #10.
In Microsoft Word X for Macintosh:
1) Choose custom from envelope "printing options"
2) Choose size 9 envelope
3) Choose options; face up, clockwise rotation - and the icon that shows
the envelope in the upper left of the feeder.
4) Load envelope with the top flap to the left (see envelope printing in
the user's guide for the printer in use).
Note: When printing on the envelope with these settings, the result may not
be perfect but it will be much closer to the desired result. For comparison
or for greatest accuracy, try printing the envelope from a program in the
classic environment.
If you require further assistance with this particular issue, please ensure
all of our previous correspondence is contained in your reply, so we can
better track the history of this issue.

It's lighter than my previous Compaq Presario, performance is good enough for me. Nice big screen.
Two problems:
1) It didn't come with a restore CD or any Windows install CDs. It came with a restore/install partition, which I didn't know about, until I'd already reformatted the whole drive. Okay, my bad for not reading instructions, paying closer attention, etc., and I was able to get the install CDs from Acer, but it still seems kind of cheap and flakey to me that they didn't just provide them in the first place.
2) Usually (but not always, I think), the keyboard seems to not be able to accept keystrokes as fast as I type. I have to time my keystrokes more precisely than on any other keyboard I've ever used. It doesn't seem to be doing it at the moment, so it may be related to what software I have running at a given time. I haven't found the pattern yet, but when it happens, it's really annoying.
I've only had it two months, and I haven't really put it through any hardcore trials, but so far I'm satisfied. It was fairly cheap to start with, and Circuit City had a $100 dollar rebate or something when I bought it.

been working with mine for a couple of months and i have to say the sharpness does not meet my expectations for HD. this with both auto and manual focus. it seems to be a little sharper playing direct to HDTV than after importing with iMovie HD 6, but am not sure. would love to see a small clip of something you think is sharp.

I use a Huey and had the same problem. If you go to the Pantone website and look for the FAQ section, they discuss this issue and have a resolution to the problem. It has something to do with how OS10.5 starts up applications. Also, they mention an update to the Huey software coming soon to address this.

ANYBODY HERE USE STYLUS RMX? IM HAVING TROUBLE

Why cant I load my drum loops from my library into the mixer and get all the drums on different tracks? I can do it with the mulitis and get everything seperated, but not with my loops that I put in my favorit folder or any loops from my directory. Any help would be great thanx.

Because you don't know how?
Each of the 8 Stylus parts responds to one midi channel (channels 1-8 respectively).
The RMX setup videos on your RMX disks show you how to configure RMX and Logic so you can use this - I suggest you watch it through and set it up exactly.
In short, create a multiinstrument in the environment and cable it to the audio instrument that RMX is instantiated on. Assign those 8 subchannels of that multiinstrument to arrange tracks, and you have your eight tracks that control each of Stylus RMX's parts.

Crystal report printing using epson dot matrix printer (continouos paper)

Check with the printer manufacturer that the matrix printer is Unicode compliant. If it is not, it will not work with Crystal Reports. If it is, make sure you have the latest printer driver updates.

Nokia Photos - Is anybody still using it?

More and more people think Ovi Suite has lost its focus - to become the main software to manage a Nokia phone. I do not know what went wrong with it - perhaps the need to create a software that is simple to configure/use, comparing to Nokia PC Suite, but it's clear to me, this is not what Ovi Suite is...
Although, I admit that using Nokia software was not always so frustrating: I do remember how I felt when I first used Nokia Lifeblog - later it became Nokia Photos. I had paid in order to use it when it came out - still, I have no remorse for it - because the idea of managing your phone content over a timeline was amazing! When Nokia Lifeblog was replaced with Nokia Photos, for a moment I thought that's it; I would not be able to manage my phone's content anymore. Nevertheless, the misleading name, had nothing to do with what the software was offering...
Today, a friend suggested to see KIN.com - I was amazed with KIN Studio - a Nokia Lifeblog/Nokia Photo replica in Silverlight, that is offered for Windows Mobile powered phones. It looks like that Microsoft found the "phone content over timeline" idea more interesting, and they are investing on it - Nokia that originally come up with the idea is done with it, as Nokia Photos is an "archived" application!
Is anybody still using Nokia Photos? Does anyone think that the "phone content over timeline" idea should be something Nokia should be invest on, and this would be the idea to use for a software like Ovi Suite?

I like the concept but, like everything else Nokia does, its just poor execution. They started Lifeblog, ok cool. Then came Photos; ok same concept. Now they've completely ditched Photos and gone to Ovi suite. They dont get the fact that people want to archive there data, not just switch to the latest gimmick. At least offer an effective way to smoothly transfer data. Argh!! so frustrating!
I have my earlier data on Lifeblog and my latest data on Photos (thank god I didn't merge the two). Photos wont open anymore And Nokia is pathetically useless in the matter. There market share worldwide will diminish pretty soon, thanks to Google and Apple

Can't print to CD using Epson Print CD with iMac and Mavricks

I just got a new iMac to replace my older MacBook.
Both systems have the latest version of Mavericks 10.9.5. and the latest Epson printer driver for my Artisan 730. On the iMac when I try to print to a CD using Epson Print CD I am unable to select the media type like I can on the MacBook. On the iMac the selection is grayed out and I cannot select anything from it. See screen shot below.
On the MacBook for Media Type I can select CD but on the iMac as you can see is grayed out. I can't figure out why. I have looked at the Epson support pages and I found no help there. So I am trying here to see if someone can help me out.

I might as well tell you now, but it has been found that CDs last longer that are not printed or labeled on. And drives are able to better handle disks with no labels. Use jewelcases with inserts to keep track of what's on a CD or DVD. It is not a direct answer to your question, but I have a CD printing printer, the Epson R220, and I won't use the CD labeler. If you must do it, and you don't care about the longevity of your disks, make sure that the tray's rear entrance is not blocked. People who have put Epson Photo R220's against walls have had the same error you are getting.

I am so disappointed! The exact samething has happened to me, AND my husbands Touch. We had no problems before, and as you say with 2.1 a little stared - I ignored it because I love and defend my touch. After 2.2 all heck broke loose, I went to the genius bar and of course it ran perfect there. I had numerous screen shoots in one day, 'failed to connect to server, safari server, gmail server' - timed out blah blah blah, so they suggested I call my internet provider, they run a test and everything fine, they suggest I call the router people, ten bucks later and with nothing really showing a problem with the router our Touches still do not work like they used to. I am NOT buying a iphone, I want Apple to fix it or tell me how, it worked fine before what the heck gives, I wish someone could answer honestly.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, I really hate to switch to Zune as my nephew has been bragging about.

Anybody here any good with Microsoft Access

I have a project I am working on for work and it was written in Access. I have no problem opening it at work. If I try to open it on my laptop I get "Error in kc_Decrypt (2): 5 - Invalid procedure call or argument". When open the file on mt laptop the security warning comes up warning me that the file may contain code intended to harm you computer, then when I click ok to open the file, since I know what it is and that it's safe to open, I get Error in kc_Decrypt (2): 5 - Invalid procedure call or argument. If I push OK 47 times the error goes away and the file opens. The once it opens, when I try to use any of the functions of the database, the same error comes back up. Any help you can lend will greatly appreciated.

Any attorneys here using a MBP?

I'm a new attorney, and I'm looking into getting a MBP (I've seen the light and this will be my first Mac ever). I was curious to see whether anybody here was using the LawStream software that's advertised under Apple's legal section. It looks like the Mac version of Amicus Attorney, so I'm wondering if it's a good program to use for law office management. If any of you attorneys out there can give me any feedback on this software or anything else I should get for the MBP, please let me know. Thanks!

I'm a patent attorney with an MBP, and I've found it to be brilliant!
I started with a MacPlus many years ago, then an SE, and then a IIcx. But as I began practicing law, and the law firms then were using WordPerfect 4.2 or maybe 5.1 a bit later, I found that translating between the two was OK but not great, but certainly unsupported. I ended up switching to the 'doze world when I was still using System7 on the Mac.
I started my own firm last fall, and switched back to the Mac with an iMac G5. I got my MBP as soon as they came out (I have a week 7 unit). For me, OS X has been a truly superior performer. Every day I find something else that makes my life easier. For example, in Mail, what a brilliant idea that you can select multiple mailboxes. Now I can select my Inbox and Sent box, turn threads on (I added it to the toolbar), and I can sort my email into the folder hierarchy I set up for clients/matters. Smart folders are great too in the finder, in mail, everywhere. But spotlight has been the best feature of all. I have years of documents from my old work, new work, etc., and typing a couple of words into spotlight has pulled up everything I'm looking for so easily I can't imagine what practice would be like without it.
The only thing that ***** is that Quickbooks Pro for the Mac is about at where the windows version was 5 years ago. I use a PC to run Quickbooks Premier, and I use it for time entry, invoiceing, and all my accounting for my firm. The Mac version doesn't even permit customizing the layout of an invoice, and the templates are, well, not sufficiently professional for my needs. I'm thinking about installing Parallels just to get the PC off my desk, but then it's sort of nice having my accounting system completely separate from my main work machine.
I haven't tried LawStream, but on the PC side I've tried Time Matters, Amicus Attorney, and a couple of others. They do work well, but I found that they just take too much time and attention to get them the way I want.
The Mac itself does a lot of what those programs do. The integration between Mail, iCal, AddressBook, and Spotlight handle most tasks as easily as any of those 'wares.
I've been trying Pages for a while now, and I've come to like it. I still need to use Word when I'm editing a document that'll continue to be edited by clients, but I find myself using Pages more and more, and sending pdfs to clients rather than word docs. I think I'll have to buy it as my trial is running out in a day or two.
Just my thoughts.

I think about purchasing a "Scanner Epson Perfection 4990 Photo" flatbet scanner, to scan this and that - and to scan photos, dias, negatives.
So, bevore waisting my money, I would ask you if anyhone can tell me about how this thing works in archlinux, how the driver (http://www.avasys.jp/english/linux_e/dl_scan.html) and software behaves. Any experiences?
Furthermore, if anyone uses a different scanner for this jobs, please tell me about it.

Can anybody here read crash reports?

Can anybody here read crash reports? I installed 1600Mhz 16GB RAM from OWC 2 days ago as well as upgraded to Mavericks. Shortly after updating Pages, Numbers, and Keynote my computer "restarted because of a problem". I checked the logs and it appears to have been a kernel panic. I have since taken out the RAM and put the 8GB Apple factory installed RAM back into my Macbook Pro 8,2. Does this log below show anything else that I should be concerned with? I haven't had a kernel panic since but it's only been a day:

That is the case on occasion. I installed the 1333 MHZ RAM from my late 2011 MBP on my 2010 MBP and the RAM was downclocked to 1067 MHz. I am mildly surprised that the RAM you got from OWC did not work in light of their endorsement that it would. We all make mistakes.
I have a 6G and 3G SSD installed in my laptop so the performance is just fine at this point, it should be able to handle my demanding apps.
If you have SSD storage in your MBP, the need for RAM is greatly mitigated when running CPU/GPU intensive apps.
You might try Crucial RAM. Your MBP will accept 16 GB RAM (I have that in my late 2011).

Anyone know why I can sign in on here using my Apple ID yet it won't let me on my iPhone 4S?? Software updated ages ago and not had a problem until now.... Any help greatly appreciated as I have lost access to my iMessages :-(

I am the founder of a non-profit organization, a donor had just given us her used iBook G4. What do I need to do to wipe out her "stuff", change username and password, start all over new. We will use this iBook in our learning center in Saigon, Vietnam

A donor had just donated her used iBook G4 for us to use in one of our several "learning centers" in Vietnam. Folks sometimes donating PC but this is the first time we ever received a MAC.. :-) I would like to know how to start this iBook all over new: change username and password. I am looking so forward to bring it to Saigon in a few days and let our children experience MAC ... I am a 2 years MAC users and I have no intention to return to the Dark side. Please help. I have the original OS disk. Thank you so much.

There should be no need to zero the hard drive.
Using the Restore discs that came with the iBook when it was new, restore the system software using the appropriate instructions which you can find through a link contained in this Apple Knowledge Base article:
