Anybody know anything about Windows 7 joining Samba/NT4 Domains?
Hello all,
I recently failed at getting a computer running Windows 7 to join a Samba server's domain, I was later succesful at joining the machine to the domain after installing Windows 2000 and discovered the solution (adding missing data in the ldap database for the machine account) would possibly have allowed me to join the domain w/ Windows 7 on the client machine.
While I'd love to find this out by trial and error, I can't experiment right away, since other people need to use these computers. Google searches seem to yield mixed results; some people have indicated that they've successfully joined domains w/ a Samba PDC or NT4 PDC (which should be, for all intents and purposes ecquivalent feats), but other threads seem to indicate that
1) there might be regressions in later Win 7 releases, preventing people who formerly were able to join NT4/Samba domains from doing so as of May 2009.
2) Microsoft considers this functionality (the ability to join NT4 style domains) depracated.
3) Microsoft has promised to fix things so that Win 7 machines will connect to Samba PDCs.
I was wondering if, pending my own direct expirementation, somebody could help me cut through the FUD.

I don't know if I'm ressurecting a dead topic or not, but in my experience Windows 7 fails a trust relationship with samba versions below 3.3.4. After 3.3.4 it joins just fine. I know this because at the time I was running an Ubuntu Server as a samba PDC. I had to recompile a newer version of samba. I replaced it with Arch soon after, which had an up-to-date package.

I cannot burn cds from itunes. Every time I open itunes i get a message indicating i need to reinstall itunes. I have already done so but it's not working. I still cant burn cds. Does anybody know how i can fix this? My windows media player burns cds just fine.
I am having this same issue with Windows XP. The exact message that I get everytime that I open iTunes is :
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers forimporting and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes. I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes three times. I also have a problem with iTunes randomly opening itself. -

O.K., So I've been using iTunes w/my PC for about a year and a half.
Rarely do I have any problems.
Over last weekend this happened.........
iTunes is fully operational but my songs are not showing in the iTunes window.
I checked Edit-Preferences-Advanced-Etc... and it was all there correctly.
I went to the drive that my songs are on and was able to locate them.
If I dbl click on the file it then shows up in iTunes and plays, but,.....
Do I have to go through my over 1000 CDs worth of songs dbl clicking on each 1 to get them to show up in iTunes? Come on, there has to be a better way

Anybody know anything about Kern Protection?
My Final Cut HD 4.5 will not open at all due to "KernProtectionFailure".
Everything else seems to be running fine.
Anyone have a clue as to what I need to do to correct this?
I posted in Final Cut forum but no definitive suggestions short of reinstalling the whole system.

G4 /Panther editionIt's a software failure error. As a start it may just be that your installed copy of FCP has become corrupted or some of its support files are corrupted. If it only happens when you are trying to use a particular video you made then your video file may be damaged.
As a start you might try deleting all FCP preference files from the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. If that doesn't help then do a complete uninstall of FCP - see below about uninstalling applications - and then reinstall it.
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:

SuperPop
Uninstaller
Spring Cleaning

AfghanproPlace the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I've just upgraded my iPhone 5 with new iOS 7. I noticed that i cannot send a photo as a iMessage directly from Photo application as I could while was on iOS 6. Anybody knows something about this?
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

"I am transfering my stuff from my lap top to my desk top (both Mac). I cannot get my CS4 to open. It gives me a 150:30 error, licencing thing. I have no idea what to do and after hours of searching none of what I found helps. I don't know anything about this stuff so please don't answer with "maybe this willl work, or maybe that." While transferring Adobe from laptop to PC the licensing files got corrupt and the right way to use Adobe Applications is to install first as transferring from a different machine can give you problems.
You can try steps from this article if that helps otherwise you have to reinstall and manually delete some files , everything is mentioned.

Does anyone know anything about U2 being downloaded for free to everyone with iTunes?
I am wondering about my iTunes account, I heard a whole album was free to everybody with an iTunes account. I apparently got the whole album downloaded into my iTunes account without even realizing it, and it charged me money, so I'm wondering can I get my money back for free because I got charged when this album got downloaded to my iTunes. The album was by U2, and I didn't want to get it or even get charged the money for it, so I'm wondering about this, can someone answer me about this if you know anything about it, thank you.
