Anybody Know of a Expanded Warp Add-in/Plugin?

I would like to find an addin that does exactly what the Warp
transform does, except it provides many more handles. The current
plugin provides only 2 handles (4 if you count the corners). Ideally
I would like to be able to define the number of handles, but just
giving a selection of discrete sets (4, 8 16, 32, etc.) would
probably do what I need. Does anybody know of such an addin?

Thanks. Since it costs $150 less I'll try it first.

I think that I have figured out a way for 3/4 to be solved. Some background on the problem is that the two Oracle instance are supposed to be in sync with one another. I am currently working on syncing the GL periods and INV periods. For GL periods, I have found GL_PERIODS_PKG.Load_Row for creation and GL_PERIODS_PKG.update_row for opening of a period. For INV, I am going to use CST_ACCOUNTPERIOD_PUB.open_period to do opening however I can't find a seeded creation procedure.

Does anybody know if you uninstall iTunes (mine is giving me an error message) and then re-install, will my music still be there (somewhere?)  I don't have it saved to the cloud, but it is on my iPad  I recently upgraded my iTunes account and now I can't open it.  I get an error message and it says I need to re-install.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Anybody know how to get second monitor to display portrait mode on new quad

    Hi all,
I have a G5 quad with a 6600 video card and 2 monitors. 1 is a sony 24" and the other a dell 20". I have them both succesfully running in expanded desktop mode, but I would like to set up my dell to display in portrait mode. I can set it up on the dell monitor, but when the nvidea software takes control, I am back in landscape.
anybody know how to fix this?
    Thanks, Neil

The Nvidea video cards don't support rotate. You need an ATI video card.

  • Anybody know what make is in the Apple Store configured SSD for new MacPro?

    Hey there,
Does anybody know what make and model Apple is putting into their new Mac Pros?
At Apple Canada it is a 512GB SSD that costs an extra $1340 to add to your custom build.
I really like what I've read about the OWC SSD below:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internalstorage/Mercury_Extreme_SSD_Sandforce/Solid_StatePro
My question is the quality vs. price arguement:
Apple config = 512GB $1340 CDN (?? make and model of this SSD ??)
    OWC config = 480GB $1599 USD

They are not really good SSD drives.. they are SAMSUNG and are very much so, inferior compared to the OWC SSD drives.. do yourself a favor - don't waste your money on stuff that won't work right.. Get the OWC + save $$$

  • Anybody know what is prefsrbs1.plist?

Drive genius says "The preference file at '/Users/gds/Library/Preferences/prefsrbs1.plist' may be corrupted. Corrupted files can cause application crashes and should be moved to the Trash."
I go to that location and can't find the file to delete it. Anybody know what it is? Or how to find it? Tried Spotlight and manual search in the location described. Nothing!

    How to maintain a Mac
    1. Make redundant backups, keeping at least one off site at all times. One backup is not enough. Don’t back up your backups; make them independent of each other. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine. If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
    2. Keep your software up to date. In the Software Update preference pane, you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis. This is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all such modifications that you use are compatible.
    3. Don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
As a rule, the only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Use your computer; don't fuss with it.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
The free anti-malware application ClamXav is not crap, and although it’s not routinely needed, it may be useful in some environments, such as a mixed Mac-Windows enterprise network.
    4. Beware of trojans. A trojan is malicious software (“malware”) that the user is duped into installing voluntarily. Such attacks were rare on the Mac platform until sometime in 2011, but are now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against downloading malware, but you can’t rely on it — the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness — not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be acquired directly from the developer. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from a web page without your having requested it should go straight into the Trash. A website that claims you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, is rogue.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
    5. Don't fill up your boot volume. A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a boot failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem. While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage consumption and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as the free application OmniDiskSweeper to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move rarely-used large files to secondary storage.
    6. Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

When I connect my iPod nano 7th gen. to my computer and open itunes, there is a message that says the iPod could not be detected. Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • So... anybody know for sure how AirPlay works?

I've been wondering about this for a while. Seems like there are a couple of ways AirPlay might work:
    1) iPhone/iPad device is playing video, you tell it to AirPlay the video on your Apple TV instead, it takes whatever it is playing back, runs it through an h.264 encoder on the iPhone/iPad and sends that to the Apple TV. Requires something like double the Wifi bandwidth than just playing the video on the iPhone/iPad. Also likely requires hardware support in the iPhone/iPad for h.264 encoding, something that isn't present on the Mac.
    2) iPhone/iPad device is playing video, you tell it to AirPlay the video on your Apple TV, the Apple TV takes over and requests the video directly from the web site, and your iPhone/iPad just becomes a controller for the video, just sending simple commands to the Apple TV (Play, Rewind, Jump to position X). Requires only the same wifi bandwidth, not 2X. The video could also be played back at a higher resolution than it might have been on your iPhone. However, this method wouldn't support anything that the Apple TV can't handle. So forget playing back games via AirPlay. Only audio and video compatible iwth the Apple TV. VLC couldn't add an AirPlay either.
    Anybody know?

My understanding is that there are two components to Airplay and they are Audio and Video.
In the case of a Home Shared iTunes library when running either the iPod or Video applications that come standard with the device these application only allow you to Airplay the Audio in other words you can select speakers other than those on the device. My guess is that Apple never saw Airplay Video as a requirement given that an AppleTV '2nd Generation' can access a shared iTunes Library in its own right.
However if the media has been downloaded aka Sync'd from the iTunes Library to the device then in these circumstances Airplay Video is supported and you can select the AppleTV and play the media. So in summary it is the Video that is accessed through the Home Share arrangements that cannot be Airplayed to an AppleTV. I hope that makes sense.
In the case of a third party application like the ABC's iView 'available from the Apps Store' this allows you to Airplay Video to a AppleTV HDMI connected to a compatible HD TV. This type of connectivity requires a High Broadband connection like ADSL/2 that will run at a minumum of at least 1.1 Mbps '1026Kbps' for best results. These resources are streamed from the Suppliers Server in this case the 'ABC' and not actually downloaded and saved to your Hard Disc.
Another third party program that is also available through the Apps Store is Air Video which allows you to Airplay Videos to an AppleTV which are located in your iTunes Library.
In summary my guess is that Apple did not see the value in having Airplay supporting iTunes Videos given that you can access these resources directly
    on the AppleTV.

  • Application Size? Anybody know some estimates?

I just sold my 1st gen iphone because I'll be buying a 3g on Friday but didn't know what size to get. I don't put that much music on the phone because i have an ipod for that. The only variable that might sway my decision would be the applications. I'm not going to put a lot on there but i will def add a few. Anybody know the file sizes? I don't have the slightest clue if theyll be more the size of a palm phone or a lot larger. Palm programs are tiny but with the iphones interactivity and graphics it may be a lot larger.

IMO, you should be placing your favorite music on your iPhone so you don't need to carry two devices.
This will depend on the application. If an application is over 10MB in size, it must be downloaded via iTunes.
You can also add and remove available applications as needed via your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes - the same as is available for adding and removing music, video, podcasts, and photos.
In regards to storage capacity, IMO it is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. You purchase an 8GB and there will be no changing the available storage capacity, which is actually less than 8GB. The actual available storage capacity for an 8GB iPhone is 7.3GB. And for $100 more, you can have double the storage capacity.
