Anybody use jtds driver with creator?

Hello,
I have a creator app that talks to our SQLServer via the jtds driver.
I cannot update any records, I get a "result set is read only" message.
I tried changing the concurrency to CONCUR_UPDATABLE and TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE.
Is there a better Driver to use?

I'm not completely sure I understand what you are saying, especially the part with the updateable and read-only tables (ResultSets are updateable/read-only, not tables). Could you provide an example (Java code or at least the SQL) illustrating your point?
The problem with "this driver" is that in its last public release (1.0.2) it did not implement client side cursors (in fact it did, but only for Sybase). This support has now been extended to SQL Server in cases when the server isn't able to create a server side cursor, so jTDS will cache the whole result on the client and create a client side one. This behavior will be available in the next release (or you can get it from the CVS tree before that).
The problem with transparently creating client side cursors is that this introduces a huge (memory and performance) overhead of which the user is unaware. This may lead to OutOfMemoryErrors simply because the table didn't have a primary key or the SELECT didn't include it.
And now that we're here, let me point out that the DataDirect driver is not the most efficient, by far. There's even a test in their performance test suite (which they use only to point out that their driver is and will be the only one that doesn't fail that particular test), which creates a forward only ResultSet and then calls last() and beforeFirst() on it. This test only works because they cache the entire ResultSet, which may seem like a good thing, but it's totally unnecessary and if you compare the time it takes for that test to run with the time to do a simple next() through the exact same ResultSet it's orders of magnitude larger.
And one final thing: the JDBC spec rightfully states that a JDBC driver implementation does not have to implement features that the underlying DBMS does not support. Creating a scrollable and/or updateable ResultSet from God knows what falls under this category in my oppinion. The SQL Server spec clearly states what conditions must be met by a SELECT query for a server side cursor to be created on it. You can't reasonably expect not to meet those conditions and still get what you want.

Time Machine does not back up to network drives, except Time Capsules or USB drives connected to an Airport Extreme, or a drive on a Mac running Leopard.

You may find some "hacks" that might make it work, in some cases, to a degree. But use them at your own risk.
First, since this is *unsupported by Apple,* there's nowhere to go when there's trouble.
Second, you're risking a future update preventing it from working, and perhaps rendering your backups useless.
If you still think this is a good idea, do yourself a favor before you bet your backups on it: be sure it really works, at least for now:
1. Get a copy of CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper! or the like, and make a full bootable clone of your internal HD, on an external disk. Test it by booting from it. Then reboot from your internal HD.
2. Let TM do it's first, full, initial backup.
3. Attempt a full system restore (like you'll need when, not if, your internal HD fails), via the instructions in item 14 of the of the Frequently Asked Questions post at the top of this forum.
Again, even if it works today, tomorrow is another day . . .

As far as the FWSM is concerned you can have each of the wireless vlans come in to the same context of the FWSM and then just add those vlans to the FWSM as separate vlans.

I see you are stilll unsuccessful installing the drivers as you get the blue screen.

I have never used HyperFile, but a quick check of the company's website indicated that there are ODBC drivers available for it so it should be a simple matter connecting through ADO.

Hi , yes unfortunately it's true !
Sata ports 3/4 is the fully nforce3 native chipset integrated (uses nvidia integrated PHY).
Use only theese if overclocking .
Satallink clock will be retained at 100mhz always .
Sata ports 1/2 are bridged from the nvidia chipset to an external marvell PHY .
Theese ones can not be used with HTT ref clock beyond ~230mhz +/- a few mhz without producing data corruption .
Satalink ref clock of 100mhz will scale upwards with increased HTT .
This issue applies to all nforce3 250GB/Ultra based motherboards with more than 2 sata ports regardless which vendor/make/model.
It's the chosen hw design that is the issue and no bios ever will fix it .
If you must have 4 sata drives , do like me and install a pci SIL sata controller card for the drives used for storage .
Take Abit NF8 (nf3) as an example .It has only 2 sata ports .
Why ?
Only the true/fully chipset integrated sata ports is used .
Although the nforce3 chipset supports a sata link to an external PHY for port 3 and upwards some has chosen to not utilize it .
Nforce 4 chipset has corrected this hw design by adding more sataport by the link to external phy .
In nf4 four ports are fully/true chipset integrated , and does not suffer from this overclock barrier .

If your iPod is formatted FAT32 there is a 4 GB file size limit. Obviously an 8 GB file exceeds the limit.
In order to use any drive on both a Mac and a PC with full read/write capability the drive must be formatted MS-DOS (FAT16 or FAT32.) A drive formatted NTFS is read-only on a Mac unless you use third-party software such as MacFuse with NTFS-3G or Paragon NTFS.

Using a driver with labview

I want to create a GUI using labview to control a data acquisition card using a driver that was not created in labview. Could someone point me in the direction of some documentation that would give me some info on doing this.

If you're using a non NI data acquisition card and the manufacturer doesn't have a LabVIEW driver, then you'll probably be using either a DLL or ActiveX interface that they provide. For interfacing to third praty DLLs, start with "Using External code in LabVIEW" that is part of the LabVIEW Bookshelf. You will need details from the manufacturer on the function calls. There are some shipping examples on ActiveX. The Invoke Node and Property Node functions on the Communication>ActiveX palette are used to access methods and properties.
If you were to mention the make and model of the board you're using, you might find someone here with knowledge of it that would provide more details.

I think I knew one customer who used this combination.
We don't have a specific tutorial that shows you how to use iBatis with ADF Faces, but at the end of the day any of the tutorials we have that shows you how to use POJO or a session facade to front POJO will be applicable to iBatis.

Using network drive with iPhoto and iMovie

I bought a QNAP TS 212 NAS Drive and have it successfully set up on my network. I can see the drive and access its content through finder on my iMac. It is even visible in iTunes and am able to play media stored in it. But am unable to view the attached NAS Drive in iPhoto or iMovie. How can I use this NAS drive for storage of pcitures and video using above softwares?

You would be able to store your original files on the NAS with your Library on the internal drive with Aperture.
Note that this means other devices accessing those files will see no edits, just the files as imported from camera.
also since you seem an expert on iPhoto, is there a way to change default storage set up. I want my pictures to be assorted and saved under "album names" rather than year, month and date.
No. If you use iPhoto then the files are never accessed via the Finder, but only through iPhoto. So, how they are stored on the HD is just back end management for iPhoto.
Is there a way to export all the pictures in various albums and have them arranged under separate folders with matching album names?
If you have the most recent iPhoto 11, then yes, it's an option in the export dialogue. If you don't then
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
I would caution you about both iPhoto and Aperture. Neither of these apps have any cross platform ability. Both use virtualisation for lossless processing. Simply, apps from other OSes will not make any sense of these apps. You would need to export everything from them to have edits available to other OSes.

You can use some USB flashdrives with the iPad's camera connection kit, but a lot of them require more power than is supplied to the kit, and you can only photos and videos to the iPad's Photos app with it - you can't copy other content, nor copy content off the iPad with it. Depending upon what you want to use it for you might be better off with syncing, Dropbox, emailing content, copying via your wifi network etc (depending upon the item type and what the app that you want to copy to/from supports)

Anybody use Canon ZR950 with Mac Laptop and Final Cut Express

I just bought a Canon ZR950 Mini-DV camera and have been eyeing up a new MacBook Pro for editing video of my new baby (12 days to go). I'm wondering if anybody has had success with that model camera and FCE. Would I movie do the trick or is FCE that much better?
Also - would the 256mb video card model w/ the 15" display be okay?
