Anybody Used WHG FTP Backup Script for Cpanel?

Has anybody had experience with this script for automated
backup with thier
Cpanel software?

Or this service, or any data backup service?

Basically just looking for low-cost backup solutions. Would
rather have a
script (bought or free, whichever works better) than a
service, b/c I want
to have close control over it.
Thanks,

    hi,
    i wanted to resize my windows partition. I was thinking of using the default backup system for windows. Then switching to mac partion, deleting the bootcamp and then restoring a new enlarged partition from the backup. Is this possible?

    I see youhave gotten recommendatons for using WinClone or CampTune.  I have used both and they both work well.
    You have asked about using the WIndows 7 utility to backup your drive and restor it onto a larger partition.  I will tell you fro experience that this will probably not do what you want, and may do something that you don't want.  You can use the Windows 7 native backup tool to make a backup of your Windows 7 partition.  It will most liekly end-up making a dive image of the whole drive.  When yourestore that backup, it will try to re-create teh partitions of exactly the same size as they were when the backup was taken, so it won't increase your partition size for you.  Worse, since Windows doesn't natively know how to read./write HFS+ volumes, the backup will make a partition for your MacOS (replacing any you may have now), except that the copy restored by WIndows will be totally worthless, and you will not be able to boot MacOS from it, or even read it under MacOS.
    Now I will tell you that I've also had some fairly good success working with the free tool CloneZilla.  Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, and everything else mentioned does cost you money, I thought I would throw it out.  CloneZilla is not as easy to use as the tools mentioned, but it has worked for me int hte past, so it is something to consider.  I tend to use CampTune myself, but that was because I purchased a bundle deal for them and it was included in that deal.

  • Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7

    Hi,
    Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7 & is it any good?
    Have you had any problems?
    Jeff

    Virtual PC is outdated and probably doesn't even run under Snow Leopard (since you're posting in the Snow Leopard forum).
    For running Windows software next to Mac software, your current choices are Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, and others. All will run much faster than Virtual PC anyway.

  • Using my TM backup disc for other files

    The help file for TM suggests you shouldn't use your TM backup disc for anything else.
    Can anyone tell me why this is? If I have a very large backup disc, what is the downside of storing stuff on it other than the TM backup?
    Thanks

    You can make a separate partition for the other stuff, but you'll need another way to back that up.

  • Anybody using their intel i-mac for professional use?

    Is anybody using Intel i-Mac for professional use? (Music or video production?). I went to the Apple store here and checked the Powermac G5 2.0, Intel i-Mac and a Macbook pro. They all seem equally fast. (I tried loading songs in Garageband, opening multiple apps, switching between them, loading samples etc). What's your experience?

    Have been using PhotoShop and InDesign and have found "saving" to be a problems sometimes when you have made a number of changes. The spinning ball keeps spinning. Suggest that anyone using it (Rosetta) save more frequently as I've had to Force Quit on some documents more frequently with loss of work.

  • RMAN Backup script for RAC Database..please suggest

    Hi All,
    I am currently working on backup policy for RAC Database for my client.The client requirement is to backup while database is shutdown(mount state).I have made below script and could any one please suggest what further things should I need to add with below rman script.
    echo "Shutdown Database";date
    srvctl stop database -d PROD
    srvctl status database -d PROD
    echo "Database shutdown on";date
    echo "Mount Database ";date
    srvctl start instance -d PROD -i "PROD1" -o mount
    srvctl status database -d PROD
    echo "Start Full Database Backup on";date
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target / nocatalog <<EOF
    configure controlfile autobackup on;
    configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to '/BACKUP/PRODBKP/%F';
    run{
    allocate channel c1 device type disk connect 'sys/******@node1-vip:1521/PROD';
    allocate channel c2 device type disk connect 'sys/*****@node2-vip:1521/PROD';
    backup format '/BACKUP/PRODBKP/PROD_df_%t_%s_%p.bak'(database);
    backup format '/BACKUP/PRODBKP/archive_%t_%s_%p.bak' archivelog all;
    copy current controlfile to '/BACKUP/PRODBKP/PROD.ctl';
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    release channel c1;
    release channel c2;
    exit
    EOF
    echo "RMAN Backup Finished on";date
    echo "Shutdown Database";date
    srvctl stop database -d PROD
    echo "Start Database";date
    srvctl start database -d PROD
    srvctl status database -d PROD
    Please share your experiences.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Some tweaks for your script.
    echo "Shutdown Database";date
    srvctl stop database -d PROD
    srvctl status database -d PROD
    echo "Database shutdown on";date
    echo "Mount Database ";date
    srvctl start instance -d PROD -i "PROD1" -o mount1. If you database does not shutdown properly , does your script stops the execution of next step?
    2. configure controlfile autobackup on;
    configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to '/BACKUP/PRODBKP/%F';(Why you need to configure this every time) ?
    It's persistent at db level one time setting (until some other script changes the settings by other dba - else remove that - set the configuration at db level once for all)

  • Can I use an incremental backup disk for a restore function?

    I have loaded PSE7 on my new PC. I have a full backup set and also an incremental set created after the full backup. After doing a File/Restore with the full backup set, can I use the incremental set to add the remaining picutures or do I need to do a new full backup first and only use it? If I can use the incremental set, are the steps to load it the same as for the full backup?

    I have given up incremental backups because they don't save any time. I have found that the messages in the restore process are misleading. I don't know for sure why, but to restore, I got the best results by restoring the last incremental backup first, then the older ones and the original. If your incremental backups are correct, each in a separate folder or disk, you have a full version of your catalog at the time of backup stored within the folder or disk. I suppose this is to start with the latest catalog version and completing the process by comparing with previous versions, which ensures not adding deleted items.
    I'd be interested to get other views on that matter !

  • Using EEM and TCL scripts for voice

    HI all,
    I'd like to use eem to check Sip dial-peer status+interface BRI status, when sip dial-peer has no answer to invite and bri interface is down the LAN interface must be shutted down. Is it possible to avhieve it using eem? I didn't find anything for eem monitoring sip dial-peers...
    thanks
    Massimiliano

    EEM doesn't have any ability to control the data plane currently.  Therefore, there is no direct voice tie-in.  There is a way to do Tcl scripting of some voice operations (e.g. IVR scripts), but those do not relate to EEM.
    That said, if there are some show commands which provide you the data you need, you can create an EEM timer policy (i.e. one that runs periodically), parsers the show command output, and takes further action if the output contains certain patterns.  Depending on the version of IOS, this may require an EEM Tcl script, or you may be able to do it within an EEM applet.
    If you need further assistance, you will need to provide your IOS version, and the exact commands (and output) which would tell you if the SIP peer isn't getting an answer and the BRI interface is truly down (I'm imagining something like "show isdn status" for this one).

  • Using iPod as backup disk for failing drive

    I am an avid user of iTunes with multiple years of history behind me, and I have owned my own iPod since about February, and I have never been disappointed until now, but I feel this is more an ID 10.T error than anything else.
    I have a big library, so much so that a regular iPod just wouldn't do it, I had to go for the biggest one available. With a library of 5,230 songs covering 31.65GB, I have a nearly irreplacable collection, and to my dismay, my internal disk is failing (thank you Maxtor...)
    As a wise move, I synchronised my iPod with iTunes with the latest additions, and was horrified to find that iTunes had sleuthed an entire band (Motorhead! No!), three songs from another band (Jimi Hendrix, why all the good guys?!), and two lone songs had become victim to my series of bad sectors cropping up all over the place. While I was thankful that this had not altered my iPod listings (the tracks are still on the iPod, and are still playable), I am left with a situation.
    If I want to recover these tracks, most of which were ripped from now long-lost CDs years ago rather than purchased over iTMS, how would I go about doing it? Obviously, restoring them on the failing disk would be absolutely fruitless, but there will come a time when I CAN afford to replace the disk, and when this time comes, the entire library will need restoring, and as an extra precaution, I want to have the library stored on my partner's PowerBook. Having turned off automatic synchronisation, under the fear that I would lose my tracks, I thought there would then also be a method for transferring all the data FROM the iPod TO a machine, but this does not appear to be possible, and one begins to ponder the usefulness and customer satisfaction of a one-way music player? Is there an option within iTunes I am missing or simply haven't found yet? Or does the problem lie deeper than I believe it to be? How am I supposed to get music off, and re-enable automatic synchronisation without vaporising my irreplacable music collection that already exists on my iPod?
    Seriously, it took me many years to rip, and over five hours to transfer, do NOT tell me I'm going to have to vaporise it to do anything with it, as I've already lost a few ultra-rare tracks on the disk...
    Any help that could be given is very much appreciated.
    Custom Windows XP Pro

    Now that your iPod is set for manual music management, does the iPod show up in Windows like an external drive? Do you see it listed either by name or by the generic "removable disk" under My Computer? Because once Windows recognizes it as a removable drive, you can open it and poke around for your files. First you need to expose hidden files using Windows' Tools•Folder Options•View settings. Then you'll see the folders in which the iPod stores all the stuff.

  • Using Ipod as backup storage for HDD Camcorder

    Hi there. I recently bought a sony 30 gb hard disk camcorder (dcrsr50e). I´m going on a 3 month travel so 30gb wont be enough. I was wandering if it is possible to use the ipod as storage on the road (ie without bringing my laptop) like I use the photo converter for my pictures, since I´m backpacking and would prefer not bringing my laptop.
    If not, do you know any other ways of backing up a hdd camcorder on the road
    Thank you Stefan

  • Anybody using a good GIF EDITOR for custom Icons ?

    Hi list,
    I'm looking for a GIF EDITOR, that I could use to build icons and button graphics...
    I've read the Java Look & Feel Design Guidelines, which I found of great interest but when I try to draw my own icons, I'm facing problems about:
    - the number of colors to use
    - how is built the "pattern to prevent coarse dithering" ?
    - how is it applied to the original picture ?
    I'm intending to put my Application on the Web, and would like to be the more compliant as possible with different graphical and color configurations.
    Thanks in advance for any advise or comment.

    Hi,
    thaks for replying but I already use Paint and PSP... now, I would like to use a single software for building GIF icons, without having to switch between two editors...

  • Anybody using MOTU PCI 424e card for 2408 with new MacPro Cylinder?

    I upgraded my older Mac PRO tower which accepted multiple PCI 424e cards for the new Mac Pro cylinder.  I purchased from Magma their Express card cage with Thunderbold output in anticipation.  Computer arrived and I removed the card and inserted into the card cage,  directed audio to the card but no go.  iTunes, for example freezes when the card is selected.  My MOTU Digital Performer also does not allow Analog in or out with the card.
      I have contacted MOTU,  they do not have a solution.  Magma,  the card cage manufacturer has not come back with a solution.  Apple suggested visiting these forums for possible ideas.
      My studio is dead in the water until I solve this OR I need to go back to the slower old MacPro.
    Thanks in advance.

    Did you install the FCS suite onto the new computer by using the original disks?
    You should. Don't forget to run all updates, repair permissions and restart.
    Or did you migrate the applications from the older Mac? You should not do this.

  • Cannot use new fill pattern scripts for Photoshop CC 2014.2

    I have installed Photoshop CC 2014.2 (2014.2.0 Release), but am unable to get the new Fill pattern scripts to work or even show up in the UI. Namely, I am referring to the Flame, Picture Frame, and Tree scripted patterns described here: https://www.adobe.com/technology/projects/DecoScriptedPatternsInPhotoshop.html
    This is what my Fill dialog looks like:
    I have confirmed that the corresponding presets exist in the Photoshop CC 2014 > Presets > Deco folder:
    I have tried resetting Photoshop's preferences; and while everything was reset, the missing presets still failed to appear.

    If you are talking about CC 2014 and not CC, have you updated to
