Anybody using an Apple wireless mouse on the Mac Mini ?

Just bought the bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard for my new Mac mini core due. The performance of the wireless mouse is disappointing. I believe the timing gap between the hand movement with the cursor movement on the screen is far too long so it is difficult to control the mouse smoothly. I have been using radio type wireless mouse on other PCs and the Apple wireless mouse is the worst mouse I have ever used. Don't know whether anybody here has smiliar experience. Any recommendation to retify or improve this?? I'm happy with the new Mac mini though, and the wirelss keyboard is only okay ( it loses connection with the Mac occassionally even in short distance).

I had a same trouble in my Core Duo 1.66. I posted the same message in Apple Japan Discussions. There is no reply. Then, I checked U.S. Discussions and find your message.
First, I think a low battery issue in Apple wireless mous, but not. The mous was working for Mini G4. I asked replacement the Mini, then I got another new one. It had the same trouble.
I found It depends on a distance between Mini and the mous.
<30cm, it worked perfect.
<div class="jive-quote">30, <50cm, it did not work anytime, cursor movement was not smooth.
1m, it did not work smooth, every time cursor was skipping on the monitor.</div>
I tried it on two new Minis. Mini G4, it works perfectly even it is >5m.
I believe that it is bletooth issue.
Could you check the distance dependance between Mini and the mous.
Finally, I returned the Core Duo 1.66 and refund. If This issue is solved, New Mini performance will be good enough for me.

  • Can i connect my iMac to a mac mini (wirelessly) and control the mac mini display on my TV?

Can i connect my iMac to a mac mini (wirelessly) and control the mac mini display on my TV?

Look up "screen sharing" in help
You can control your mini (which I am assuming you are hooking to your TV) complete from your iMac.
After you set up screen sharing, you can go to the finder, under the "go" menu choose "Connect to server" and then browse.  Choose your mac mini's name, and look for the "Screen Sharing" button.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Sharing.
    Select the Screen Sharing checkbox.
To specify who can share your screen, select one of the following:
    All users:
Select this if you want to allow any user with a user account on your computer to share your screen.
    Only these users:
Select this if you want to restrict screen sharing to specific users.Click Add at the bottom of the Users list and select a user from Users & Groups (accounts you have set up in Users & Groups preferences), Network Users (users on your network), or your Address Book. Or click New Person and enter a name and password to create a sharing account. Then select that user from the list, and then click Select.
Click Computer Settings and set the following options:
Anyone may request permission to control screen:
Select this to allow anyone on your network to request to share your screen.
VNC viewers may control screen with password:
Select this and enter a password that VNC viewer applications can enter in order to control your screen. It’s recommended that you not set a password if you only share this computer’s screen using the built-in screen sharing viewer in Mac OS X.

No idea if Windows will do it, but you can run Windows without Bootcamp & have OSX available at the same time, which should give you all the Monitors that OSX uses.

  • Can I use my apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac Mini and Windows PC?

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?

    To my knowledge, no.

  • Does The Apple USB Modem Work With The Mac mini ??????

Just wanted to know if anyone has successfully used the new Apple USB Modem with the Mac mini, is it compatable ????
Thank you for your input on this.
    Mike D.

It says it works with the Mac mini, but does it really? I just received my modem yesterday and could not get it to work with my 1.42 mini - the more expensive one that comes without a dialup modem! I looked carefully at the specs and it appears the Apple USB modem requires Mac OS 10.4.3, not the 10.4.2 that comes with the Mac mini.
Talk about stupid! And the mini docs say it comes with the "latest" version of Tiger. Not! So I can download the upgrade, I guess. IF I could get on the internet! This is extremely annoying. I guess I'll have to download the upgrade on another computer and transfer it somehow. Boy, those Apple guys sure are tech geniuses, aren't they???

  • HT1338 I bought a new Mac Mini and tried to pair my keyboard with the Mac Mini. They will not pair via Bluetooth. What is wrong?

I have recently bought a Mac Mini and tried to pair the new apple wireless keyboard with the Mac but after trying 6 times no luck. What can I do about this?

    try this method:
You need at least a USB mouse. If you don't get any option to pair a keyboard, click through the setup until you get to the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, right click in any of the text fields and select Substitutions --> Show Substitutions.  From there click on text preferences.  The preferences pane will popup and from there you can just click the back button (next to show all) to get to the full preferences menu.  Next click on keyboard, then select setup bluetooth keyboard and you're golden.

  • How Well Does the Mac Mini handle Garageband?

Hi, I'm wondering about how well the mini handles garageband. My sister may finally be leaning towards getting their first mac for her family. They are long time old version windows users, I think they have a 6 year old HP running Win2k still. So they don't do a whole lot with the pc as it is. They are a musical family, very involved with their church and school. She has finally realized that macs are widely used in music creation (even though I've been telling them that for years and she's starting to do some research on garageband. I recommended the mini since budget is a big priority for them. Am I setting them up to be disappointed? I've already told them to wait until the intel version is released since it will most likely be faster/more effecient. After spending say $800 for mini and non-apple lcd and 1gb of ram, would going the extra $500 to get the imac instead be the smartest route. Just concerned its either going to be not enough power (mini) or more then they're ready for (imac). Any thoughts?

    Hi Leandro
I use GarageBand 3 on my mac mini without a hitch
what so ever and I can even have several other fairly
intensive apps up and running without it
    complaining.
Considering that your sisters family are using the
system that they currently own without really feeling
that they are falling behind, the mac mini will be a
fantastic advantage to their lifestyle. It's plenty
powerful and it's pretty much silent meaning that it
would make a great "first mac" for them to
experience. With regards to the intel mac mini, we
don't know that there is going to be one as of yet.
Steve Jobs did however, announce that all Macs were
going to be purely running on an Intel Core by next
year, meaning that if Apple don't discontinue the mac
mini line, it would be of a greater advantage. There
is no indication as to when an intel chip will appear
inside a mac mini, so you could well be waiting
anything from a matter of days to months or even
    never!
At the end of the day, the current mac mini, some of
which are now shipping with a 1.5gHz G4 processor and
64MB Graphics will be the perfect solution for your
    sister and her family.
    Hope this helps
    -pos
thanks for the quick reply. I am concerned about them having a positive first experience with a mac, I've been preaching it to them for a good ten years now! Her husband is the real stubborn one, he would need the most convincing. Good to know that it runs well on the mini and with such praise. Which model do you have and did you max the ram? I told her about the hard drive/hub stack kit which would have a faster drive to boot from. I forgot about the 1.5's. I was sure it was a rumor. Didn't know about the 64mb video card though...that would be a great boost as well!

My apple wireless mouse scrolls in the opposite direction. When I scroll up, down, right and left it always scrolls the opposite direction. Can anyone help?

    Hi Malky H.,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your mouse is not scrolling in the direction you are expecting, check this Mouse setting in System Preferences:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Mouse.
Scroll direction: natural: Select this option to move the contents of a window in the same direction as your fingers.
You can find this information here:
OS X Yosemite: Use an Apple Magic Mouse
Note that these steps apply to previous versions of Mac OS X as well.

    Jeremy

  • HT3078 When I opened up my Apple Wireless Mouse to replace the batteries, there was a metallic "strip" inside. I have no idea how it goes back in and it isn't shown in the instructions here. Where does it go?

I have an Apple Wireless Mouse (model A1015 EMC No. 1938).
I metal "strip" fell out. I can not figure out how to put the strip back in.
Leaving it out, the mouse doesn't work (no light, no nothing).
Does the strip actually belong and if so, where does it go?
I went to the Apple site and looked up how to replace the batteries and started off saying to turn off the mouse. I have no idea how to turn off the mouse. It also did not show a metal strip on the inside.
When I opened the mouse, the battery cover popped off. Without the metal strip, the cover does not pop off and is very hard to remove.
    HELP!!!

  • How do I get the apple wireless mouse open to replace the battery?

How do I get the apple wireless mouse open to replace the battery?

Thank you!  I am 71 also, and broke a fingernail trying to get the thing open, thought there must be a trick to it.  After many attempts, when I had your reply it opened right up.  I think Apple delights in making people look stupid.  Love the machines, but dislike the smooth surfaces with no obvious switches to run the machine itself.  Computer is still not "discovering" the mouse, so there may be some further problem to be resolved.  The whole setup worked fine until a few days ago when the computer started to lose the mouse now and then.  I thought probably the mouse needed batteries, as I just had replaced the contemporary batteries in the keyboard.
I'm retired, too, in Portland, Oregon, USA, and write poetry (though not for advertising agencies), get lot of rejections and an acceptance about once a year.
