Anybody using MOTU PCI 424e card for 2408 with new MacPro Cylinder?

I upgraded my older Mac PRO tower which accepted multiple PCI 424e cards for the new Mac Pro cylinder.  I purchased from Magma their Express card cage with Thunderbold output in anticipation.  Computer arrived and I removed the card and inserted into the card cage,  directed audio to the card but no go.  iTunes, for example freezes when the card is selected.  My MOTU Digital Performer also does not allow Analog in or out with the card.
I have contacted MOTU,  they do not have a solution.  Magma,  the card cage manufacturer has not come back with a solution.  Apple suggested visiting these forums for possible ideas.
My studio is dead in the water until I solve this OR I need to go back to the slower old MacPro.
Thanks in advance.

Did you install the FCS suite onto the new computer by using the original disks?
You should. Don't forget to run all updates, repair permissions and restart.
Or did you migrate the applications from the older Mac? You should not do this.

It's that last sentence I'm curious about.  "However a MacPro already has much more capability already built in than Thunderbolt can add."
I'm thinking of getting a Mac Pro, but see that it doesn't seem to have Thunderbolt. I'm not sure if I care. The reason for the Mac Pro is that I'm topping out my 8gb RAM 27" iMac capacity with the volume of work going through it, and my tech tells me I'm pushing it too hard.  I use it to run a small law office, but usually have about 15 apps open, with lots going on in the network in the background.
Is there any reason to wait until Apple puts Thunderbolt into the Mac Pro?
Thunderbolt will not increase the performance capability of the MacPro. It will add a bus that can be convenient, especially later on when Thunderbolt devices become more common, more mature and better supported - oh, and with more common will come less costly. From a pure performance standpoint the existing PCIe slots are much more capable and cheaper to implement. You would be giving up nothing with a current MacPro.
My opinion. Thunderbolt is really a great move forward in the long run - needed something to replace Firewire and this is it. But there is no reason to wait on Thunderbolt on MacPro - it is redundant.

  • What is the best e-Sata PCI RAID card for Mavericks.

What is the best e-Sata PCI RAID card for Mavericks.  Bought a new MAC PRO with Mavericks and the older PCI 1095,3124 that I used on older MAC Pro does not work.  The MAC sees it, but the drivers never show up as being installed.  If I could find drivers that work or a recommended PCI card it would be appreciated.

PM made sense - 6 yrs ago when disk drives were much slower. Today it is a bottleneck.
SAS makes more sense. Outside of SSD, no disk drive maxes out by itself one PM interface (an SSD will) but it also means just two drives are enough to do so. So check out why to avoid PM:

  • Problem in edge separation measurement by using NI PCI 6251 card

I am trying to measure time delay between two TTL pulses (rising edge of the first signal and falling edge of 2nd signal) generated by two Photo detectors (APD) . These pulses are random pulses. Pulse width is 20ns and height is 2.5 volt at 50 ohm termination. I am using NI PCI 6251 card (M series card) for this job. I have attached my program and DAQ assist settings using for this job to this mail. Problem is   6251 card couldn't detect the pulses from APD. Exactly error shown is
"Error 200474: specified operation did not complete because the specified timeout expired".
I have tried by increasing the waiting time but it didn't solve the problem.  I have tested my program with 20ns pulse width TTL pulses which are generated by a function generator, in this case my program worked well and given expected result.[both the signals are from same  function generator and they are synchronized so edge separation measurement gives width of the pulse ] The height (voltage) of the TTL pulse generated by the function generator is 4v at 50 ohm termination. Is this height difference creating the problem? What can be the reason ? Can anyone suggest a better way to do this job.

    Hey JmBone,
It's possible that you are just suppose to send a 32-bit integer to control the 32 valves. The 'byte offset' is probably just there to allow grouping of 8 valves (8 bits as 1 byte). So instead of sending an 8-bit number with some offset, you just send a 32-bit number and only change the bits corresponding to the valves you want to change. It would be easiest to just have a 32-bit binary array in your code for changine the individual valves and then cast that to a U32 integer before sending it to the Set Attributes VI. Maybe I am misunderstanding the manual, but I don't think 'byte offset' is a parameter you are suppose to specify, and is just there to indicate how the valves can be bundled into a single 32-bit value.

  • How to use the same credit card for more than one customer master

    Hi,
this is a question for consultants at least a little familiar with SAP business partner, Customer-vendor-intergration cvi, contract accounting:
My customer wants to store the same credit card with more than one customer. Arguments are that family members or partners may mutually agree to use the same credit card for their distinct purchases.
I never tried with amazon or the likes but I know that SAP validates the uniqueness of credit cards.
I found 6 code line where the message (V/)005 "Payment card &1 &2 is already assigned to customer &3" prohibits duplicate assignment.
Even if I create a couple of enhancements to suppress the error, I don't know how the system will work.
The customer does not like the idea of using alternative payer.
Did you ever face the same problem and how did you solve it?
    Much Thanks in advance
    Best regards
    Clemens

    thanks

Can I use the same Visa card for mine and also my partners apple account? Or is it one card can be linked to only one account?

You can use one card for a few account. I would believe it you attempted to use it on too many accounts (5+), it may cause some issues. But using the same card on two accounts is fine.

Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorisations have the correct information on file.
And/or try contacting iTunes support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Can I use VCC (Virtual Credit Card) For my apple id ?

I want to ask , Can I use VCC (Virtual Credit Card) For my apple id ?

I have just discovered this fact in the past two weeks when I needed to update the expiration date on a virtual credit card number which I have had registered on my iTunes account for years. Apple claims this is a long time policy but considering that I was able to keep using the same VAN for several years by updating the expiration date, I believe the implementation of the policy is recent.
I spoke to two different Apple support people just now and they were apologetic and advised that I leave feedback about the issue at this site:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
using the option to leave feedback in the category of managing my iTunes store account.
The support manager told me that the reason for this policy is that it is easy for hackers to steal these virtual numbers and use them--which is ridiculous, because the whole point of the VAN is that it is tied to one vendor only once it is used, and if the vendor changes even one letter in the name when they put through the charge on the credit card account, the charge is refused (at least the way my credit card issuer handles VANs). With any other form of payment, Apple and I would still have a problem with unauthorized charges on the iTunes store and I would have an even bigger problem if the hacker stole my real credit card number and used it anywhere they pleased.
I think this issue should be spread widely on tech sites and anyone who is having this problem should also be sure to leave feedback on the address above as it is supposedly taken very seriously. This is a step backward as far as I am concerned. I love Apple products and will figure out a different way to pay for my various iTunes subscriptions in the meantime but I am certainly not a happy camper right now.

As far as I know some of the M700 Portege series have been equipped with the 3G module I think its from Novatel but Im not quit sure
However, if you need an part for the Toshiba notebook which would be compatible for sure, then the best place for buying such part is your ASP.
The guys could check what parts are compatible and could order it from Toshiba if this would be really necessary

  • Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7

    Hi,
Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7 & is it any good?
    Have you had any problems?
    Jeff

Virtual PC is outdated and probably doesn't even run under Snow Leopard (since you're posting in the Snow Leopard forum).
For running Windows software next to Mac software, your current choices are Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, and others. All will run much faster than Virtual PC anyway.
