AnyConnect 3.1.04059 installer for Mac wipes /opt folder

The Mac OSX installer for AnyConnect 3.1.04059 has been wiping the whole /opt folder during the install process.  This is bad especially if you use MacPorts or anything else that uses that folder.
I have seen this happen several times and it's definitely the AnyConnect installer.  Has anyone else seen this?
Anyway, back up your opt folder before installing!
NBB

The problem is with FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard). On default ASA disables it but in 3.1.04066 OSX client there's a bug that forces it on. FIPS wont accept default self-signed certificates and prevents the connection.
To fix the issue, upgrade or downgrade your client. Currently newest version is 3.1.04072 that also has some improvements for OSX 10.9
The root of the problem is still the default self-signed certificate that anyconnect uses. This might also cause annoying security warning pop-ups whenever a user connects to an ASA with these default certificate settings.
Check this, Example Set 3, Scenario C.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect20/administrative/guide/admin2.html#wp1000596
Had the same problem and this is my impression of the reasons for this problem. Someone can correct me if there's any mistakes.

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks so much for your time.

I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • Native Application installer for mac

    Hi all,
I am using Flash Builder 4.5 and adobe air 2.7
I want to bundle Adobe Air Installer along with my application(.app file ) for mac. I followed the instructions mentioned in the link
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/redist/WS485a42d56cd19641-70d979a8124ef20a34b-8000.html#WS 485a42d56cd19641-70d979a8124ef20a34b-7ffc
But with the .app file, I am getting the message
"The application could not be installed because the installer file is  damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application  author."
then i checked with .air file and it works fine.
Is there any limitation with .app files? If yes, then what we should do to bundle the .app with adobe air installer.
Any suggestion in this regard would be great.
    Regards
    Sumeet Kumar

    Hi Sumeet,
Unfortunately we don't have support for sidecar installs with native installers at this time.  I've seen this come up before but when I searched the ideas.adobe.com site I couldn't find a specific feature request.  We are aware that there is interest in this feature, but I'd like to encourage you to add a post to the ideas.adobe.com page or over at bugbase.adobe.com and let others know so we can vote on it.
    Thanks,

  • Outlook 2011 for MAC vs Public Folder & Read Only

    Hi.
    We have MAC OS 10.5.8
We use Outlook for MAC 2011. Use Public Forders, open the file XLSX, but it mode "read only".
Users can not edit these files.
Files are shared, so save them from himself locally and copied at the public Folders - does not fit.
    How to enable editing?
noticed when opening the file it is placed in the directory:
    /Users/username/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/Outlook Temp
I did chmod 766 for directory.
But files still have rights 644.
    I see two solutions:
configure Outlook 2011 to allow edit documents. But I can not find where it is configured...
Or give the right directory that you could edit the files. But I do not know how...
    Thank you.

  • Installation for Mac OS 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

After following all the steps I reached this point in Troubleshoot: Progress bar hangs while installing Flash Player. I have uninstalled Flash Player.  Downloaded Flash Player installer and double-clicked the installer.  The Install Adobe Flash Player icon appeared.  Right-clicked the Install Adobe Flash Player icon and click Show Package Contents. Move to the Contents > Resource folder. I could not find Adobe Flash Player.Pkg file in Resources folder. What should I do now.?
    Thanks
    SM

    Thanks BDAqua,
However, my question does not refer to iPhoto itself, but to the Mac Screensaver configuration using the iPhoto Library as the source from which the screensaver will pick up the photos to display. When I go to System Preferences, and then to Desktop and Screensaver, this is the window that pops up:
See that I have selected the last item as source.
"Behind" the Source drop down list, the only setting available for the screensaver is Shuffle slide order (or not):
The other settings you can change refer to when you wish the screensaver to start, Show clock and Define Hot Corners.
But it does not offer the alternative of changing the interval length between photos so that I can make each photo stay on screen for a longer period of time than the screensaver's default.
I wanted to know if there is some way of achieving this.
    Regards.

  • Can't install native installer for Mac OS

I can't install any dmg that compiled with adt native api.
    For example at this article
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/interacting_with_native_process.html
    Installer says:
"This application requires an update to Adobe AIR that is not available  for your system.
Please view the system requirements for  Adobe AIR and update your system accordingly."
I have last  stable air runtime: 2.0.2
    Mac OS 10.5.8

I had the same problem, i find out the following solution, that worked out:
this may happen if you are using a custom keyboard layout. delete the file /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.HIToolbox.* and log out/in. try software update again.

  • Damaged Installer for Mac OS X Lion

I have tried numerous times to install Adobe Flash Player (versions 10.3.183.5 & 11.0.1.152) on Mac OS X Lion.  Every time the installer proceeds to approximately 5% completion, then fails with the following message:
    The installation failed.  Get support.
From searching other threads I found the recommendation to run the uninstaller package, then download and re-run the latest installer package.  The uninstaller package runs fine, but the installer fails again.  Another thread recommends to control-click the Install Adobe Flash Player Application, then Show Package Contents, then open the Contents/Resources folder to find the Adobe Flash Player package.  When I try to run this package I receive the follwoing error message:
The Installer is damaged.  The Installer can't open the package.  There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions.
I have tried downloading the installer different times from both the Adobe website and download.cnet.com with no success.  This is a factory install of Lion and I have installed several other applications on this Mac with no problems.  I have installed JRE and ensured that that the Flash Player plugins are not currently installed in my Internet Plugins folder of my Library and the core Library.  I have installed Google Chrome and flash runs fine with it's flash player plugin.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I cleared my cache by using the Safari/Reset Safari menu item (which deletes a lot of stuff), cleaned out my downloads folder, then emptied the trash.  I used the direct link to the Mac installer listed in the linked article.  Same result for both methods of opening the installed package.  I checked the file information for the installer downloaded and it showed the most recent download time for the version 11 installer.
Also, just for grins, I downloaded the installer using Chrome.  No luck that route either.

  • Flash Player installation for Mac OS X

I have down loaded Flash Player several times (I use Safari), and my computer does not read that the program is there. Installation was successful but when I try to do something, like upload pictures, the websites say that the plug-in is missing. If I open my System Preferences, Flash Player is listed at the bottom under the heading Other. How do I get my computer to read this as a usable program?

If you're on an Intel Mac, you can probably complete the installation.  I don't *think* we'll block you at install time.  That said, we're using the MacOS 10.6 SDK, so there may be problems.  You should be eligible for a free upgrade to Yosemite, and you might want to consider it.
Running a Flash Player from the archives means that you're missing all of the security fixes that have been shipped since that build was initially released.  If you're surfing the web, this is generally a pretty bad ideal, even on Mac.  You're going to be much safer running current versions of the OS and Flash Player.

  • Windows Media Installer for Mac

I tried to install WM for the Mac; when the installer comes up, it says searching my computer, but the ball keeps spinning. When I go to force quit, it says it's not responding. I downloaded the latest version (9) from the internet. Is this not compatible with Tiger? Friends using P'Cs send me some cute clips sometimes, and I'd love to be able to see them. I tried shutting down all running programs and then running the installer-- no luck. Also, ran disk permissions, Disk Warrior-- no problems there.

After you downloaded the Windows Media Player, did you use the Stuffit expander to unpack the file? If not, go here http://www.allume.com/mac/index.html and download the free version of Stuffit. Once you have expanded the file you will see the install file for the Windows Media Player, click on that and it should install properly.
The player is compatible with Tiger.

Actually, it looks like your install did not go well. On a G5, 10.3.9, we have no such errors. Among the things to watch for: incomplete downloads; make sure you are not installing as root user. Other: did you check these installation notes: http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/docs/2/Installation_ReleaseNotes.html#hwsw
There is a troubleshooting table as well that pertains to all platforms.

  • Serial Key Installation for Mac

Is there anyway to create an installation process that is similar in nature to MSI's on the Mac that includes serial validation?
At the moment I have simple DMG files that copy the contents of the software to the application folder, but I now have a need for a serial key check before installation. On PC this is easy enough, but struggling finding a MAC solution.
    Any idea's?

I've actually been wondering about that...what are some (in your opinion) viable alternatives to serials? What about any type of piracy protection for iOS?

  • Flash Player Installer for Mac OS X Yosemite is broken

I've tried this on 3 different OS X Machines, all running with Yosemite and Safari. I've downloaded the new Flash Player Installer, and attempt to install, but the installer gets stuck at the "downloading" phase, at either 25 or 30% downloading, and will not complete the download or the installation. I've never had this problem before. It seems that the installer / downloader is broken.

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    2.)      Download the stand-alone installer from  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

Why does the installer not show any disk in the destination screen?  This is a mac mini 10.8.2 system with a normal internal hard disk, where lightroom 4.3 is already installed.  Help!  Please?

You may need to replace the hard drive. Put in another hard drive. If it is detected, then the first one is probably bad. You might try a utility like TechTool Pro to see if you can repair it.

  • New Installation for Mac Os X Snow Leopard Server

    Hi,
I am new to mack sertvers. Any one know, can I install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on this Dell server?????
    Link for Dell server: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-r710/pd

Given sufficient free disk and available memory (10 GB or more free disk, and 2 GB or more physical memory, respectively), most any desktop Intel Mac will work with Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard Server.  This per the Snow Leopard Server 10.6 Technical Specifications.
Laptops can also work, but are not supported AFAIK, and Mac OS X Server isn't particularly suited for laptops.
Apple sells packaged configurations based on Mac Mini (Mac Mini Server) and Mac Pro (Mac Pro Server).
The upcoming Lion Server requires specific Intel processors.
