AnyConnect failing to auto-update upon connecting, requires a re-install
We recently upgraded our 5510 at one of our clients to ASA software version 9.1(5), and after that was up and running and stable, we decided to upload the newest AnyConnect package files to the firewall for VPN users to get updated to the latest version.
The VPN connection is setup with radius authentication, and it has been working perfectly for a few weeks now. But just to add, when we had 8.2(5) software on the ASA and would put newer versions of the web deployment package on the ASA, clients trying to connect via VPN would auto-update without a problem. Same with Mac's.
So with the new software on the ASA, I ran a test from my home office, I uninstalled AnyConnect and installed an older version, 2.5.x. I then tried to connect via VPN with the thought that it would automatically update my VPN client to the version of the client on the ASA which is 3.1.05178. I watched it connect, ask for my active directory credentials, it would connect, then check for updates, and then say it was downloading an update. Shortly after, AnyConnect popped up a window saying "The VPN Client Agent was unable to create the interprocess communication depot." and I have to click Ok. Basically what happens here - http://www.itsystemadmin.com/the-vpn-client-agent-was-unable-to-create-interprocess/ but I do not have ICS turned on on the network adapter or any of my network adapters.
After clicking ok, it shows me the AnyConnect window, but the program is now partially non-functional, it is there, but the connection address is gone and if I enter it and click "Connect" it gives me an error immediately.
What I then have to do is go onto the ASA, remove that newer package and upload an older one. Then I re-install the VPN agent on my computer and re-connect, it doesn't find any update because I'm now running a newer version on my computer than the one that is on the ASA, and it connects fine.
I've tested this with a few employee laptops and they experience the same thing. I'm not sure if there is something that isn't compatible between this latest ASA software and the 5510, or what the issue is. I have tried putting slightly older versions of the web deployment package on the ASA and I still get the same problem. The problem is when the client computer is running an older version of AnyConnect and the ASA has a newer version, it fails upon initial connection and ruins the AnyConnect program and it has to be re-installed.
Feel lucky. Lot of people are having wifi problems with 8.x.
You should try to update from iTunes. iTunes requires less space on your machine for the update.

8530 is auto redialling upon connection to MotorolaRoadster 2 bluetooth
Upon connection to my new motorola roadster 2 blueteooth, my blackberry curve 8530 is auto redialling the last known #. I have reset the device and even exchanged it for a new one and the new one is doing the same thing. Even if there is no call history in my phone. It happens on power up and if I come back into range of my blue tooth. Please help.
I have a 2006 A8 and had similar problems until I loaded the last iPhone update; Bluetooth is now rock-solid. Check with your dealer and make sure your car has the latest Audi updates. On my car, Bluetooth settings have a delay setting. Make sure that is turned on.

Adobe Auto Updater not connecting
Hi
We have recently installed Microsoft ISA 2006, and since then we can not download updates. I have searched for the update path and found http://swupmf.adobe.com/manifest/50/win/AdobeUpdater.upd
but this still does not allow access, also added *.adobe.com again still not working.
Was hoping someone would know which address(s) to allow?
Much Apprciated.
Thanks

WRVS4400NV2 IPS now blocking Cisco IPS Auto Update Server
Yesterday I noted that my ASA5505 AIP-SSC5 card was failing to auto update as it had been doing without issue for months. I looked in the logs and the IPS was showing an HTTP Error when attempting to update. I checked and nothing had changed in the IPS configuration. Then, on a hunch, I checked the IPS log of the WRVS4400N which is the edge router for the small business network.
The WRVS4400N IPS was blocking connections with the cisco auto update server because it detected an RPC Anomaly in the traffic. So apparently, something has changed in the cisco IPS auto update server (https://198.133.219.25//cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl) response that the cisco small business router misidentifies as a threat. . .
FYI-I also posted this issue to the small business router community discussion forum.Yesterday I noted that my ASA5505 AIP-SSC5 card was failing to auto update as it had been doing without issue for months. QUICKTIME [7.4.1] Why can't get from auto-update?
I'm trying to get the new quicktime from the auto/update, but it says my software is upto date / but when i checked online the new version was available only from its website,,, so whys it not there in autoupdate, is there a problem in the new version / which is why apple is not it putting on,,, help plz?
Lawrence,
Thanks for your reply.
So to affirm your point, I agree there are certain users who (for whatever reasons) prefer to evaluate and research the available consensus on every single update published for every single of their apps. So yes, my want to have apps on the iPhone auto-update (vs being required to manually click to update them) might frustrate some. To that end, I'd imagine there are very few features (like an auto update) a company could add to a heavily used system (like Apple's iOS) without generating some controversy; the auto-update I want is no exception.
That said, the argument that the majority (or even a significant minority) of users wouldn't want to receive the most updated versions of the apps they have on their phones seems a bit thin. Updates are just that: "up to date" versions of their software. The onus is on the developers to release functioning and improved updates; that's an obligation Apple should reinforce if they desire a robust and diverse ecology of apps to augment the utility and value of their phones.
The present dynamic assumes iPhone users want to invest their time evaluating and collecting research on the viability of each new update to their apps. That's ridiculous and implies a mistrust of both their app publishers, as well as the effectiveness of a democratic marketplace:
App publishers want to do right by their users, thus they want to release good updates, and
A marketplace of user ratings and reviews influence other user behavior, so an irresponsible developer wouldn't get very far releasing crap updates.

I am spitting nails
After all the STUPID problems outlined here
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999831?esab=a&s=&r=0&as=s
I set Firefox to stop auto updating,
Then the other day I installed a new user on my laptop, when they loaded Firefox it auto updated MY version of Firefox.
Has NOTHING been learnt?
STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID
So I have 2 questions
How do you make Mozilla listen to users?
and how do prevent what happened to me happening again?SuperSluether
Not a millionth, you have only provided 150 answers and I doubt they were all this issue.
If you don't like it, don't use it.
If a business took this attitude they would soon be out of business
Updates help KEEP YOU SAFE
Sometimes, but in my experience FFirefox updates can really screw up your system, lose you data, mess up your user interface. I have run IT for one of the biggest intranets on the planet and we never allowed even Mictosoft updates until we did User Acceptance Testing and understood the impact of the upgrade. I am a grown up not a child, I have system where I test updates for performance, security and impact, I WILL DECIDE when I want to install it. If Mozilla wants to provide real security updates I would take them but if you look at the link in my OP you will see it said an update was security and it completely messed up.
Updates add tons of great new features
Actually with FFirefox in my experience they take more away than they add, things I did not ask them to take, they do not look at my config and leave my settings as they were and then tell me about new options, no they completely screw my productivity as it takes days to figure out how to undo the kwap they have added. Copying the AWFUL Chrome interface is not an improvement, Google has one of the worst UI's on the planet accross all their products.
Firefox is designed to be customized PER USER, NOT CROSS-SYSTEM
There are some things that benefit from being per user and some that are per machine, windows has group policies per machine and per user. My OP is telling Mozilla that this is another area where they have "designed" badly, I tell them this so that they improve it and in the vain hope that there is some config setting that will stop this nonsense.
So SuperSluether you have not really helped, all you seem to say is FO if you do not like it. Good job you do not run a business. With that attitude probably best you do not contribute. -

Trying to update 7.04 and later. I have verified I am connected to WiFi but the update fails ssying I am not connected.
How to fix?Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then reconnect to wifi and try updating again.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

Since 10.5.3 update both my printers fail to auto quit
Since updating to 10.5.3 both my printers fail to auto quit after printing and stay in the dock. Auto Quit is checked on both. They are an HP Business Inkjet 1200D connected via USB and a Macally USB2 hub to the iMac and an HP Photosmart Pro B9180 connected Bonjour via a Netgear DG834PN modem router with a Cat6 10/100 Ethernet cable. Before 10.5.3, they both auto quit with no problems. I have done all the usual things like verifying hard discs on both my Intel iMac and Macbook, repairing permissions, clearing caches (boot, user, kernel, font, applications etc - all that are shown on Onyx), running daily, weekly and monthly scripts etc. All with no improvement - anyone got any ideas?
WilsonI agree that 10.5.3 needs some urgent work. I gather 10.5.4 has already been seeded. My CPU use also now looks like a mountain range from Lord of the Rings, although I think my MacBook is actually running a little cooler if anything. However there seem to be lots of complaints of CPU spiking and fans going crazy, with no universal solutions. My guess is that the code has gotten so large that curing one fault, introduces two others. I wonder if we will look back at Tiger as the peak of OS X. I have left Tiger on my wife's G5 iMac and I get no complaints. I think I would be mad to upgrade her to Leopard.
I will try deleting my printers and reinstalling but I did that not long ago, trying to cure the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 fault after a firmware update that if connected via Ethernet, it keeps reporting no print heads installed and then after a minute or so, changes its mind and although still reporting no print heads, amazingly manages to print the image.

See the other post in the list talking about your problem, "host not trusted".
I had the same problem and the fix was to upgrade the IPS to 7.1(9)E4 .

I've configured the signature auto update via the GUI and CLI but receive the same error:

Any ideas? I've rebooted both the IPS & ASA in the hope that would resolve the problem to no avail. I have another ASA/IPS in a different site and that works ok.Hi, I got the information :)

X200 auto-update BIOS upgrade failed? system no longer boots
Hi,
I've had an X200 for around 7 months now and just did an auto-update earlier today. One of the items was a BIOS update, so I thought what the heck, it should be fine, always has been before. The update completed correctly and shuw down for reboot as planned.
The system now no longer boots. Nothing at all happens. When I press the power button, no matter whether with AC supply or on battery, the following happens:
- num lock, caps lock, HDD and 'power on' lights light up for a second or so then go off again
- they come back on again for another second, and off again
- then only the bluetooth light and the 'power on' light remain lit, and nothing else happens
It seems pretty fried to me. What can I do? I'm in severe despair! :'(
Thanks in advance for your help,
PhilHans;
Thank you for the reply. Say hiya to Amelia for me. Does this mean you're an alien?
Ok, I tried using bootable CD and no go.
I don't really have a simpler graphics card around to try that. So that test may not happen.
I can try with one dimm when I get home (I'm at work atm.)
I also thought about putting the drive into another system and will try that also later today or tomorrow morning.
D-Bracket: I will have to watch that again. It really didn't make sense to me as the lights went through a lot of the steps then came to a halt at what I think was BIOS Sign on. Someone did suggest to me that I might have a virus, which may be why the second hard drive failed eventually. But I'm not sure about that and not sure what can be done about that unless clearing CMOS would take care of it.
So, any new thoughts?

Flash Builder 4.5.1 - Air ApplicationUpdaterUI Auto Update Fails
I just reinstalled my FlashBuilder 4.5.1 and built a new HelloWorld App
in order to test the SDK 2.6 with the Air ApplicationUpdaterUI.
I get no errors but it won't update using the 2.6 namespace in both the -app.mxml and update.xml on server.
A trace in the StatusUpdateEvent never shows up in debug mode.
The only window that pops up is the one asking to Check for Update?
Pulling my hair out - must be something obvious I'm doing wrong here - can a new set of eyes spot something?

Bolded appl descriptor versions
Message was edited by: DonMitchinsonStatus Update - don't know if this is a bug, design flaw, install problem or my misunderstanding.
I got it to work by first changing my Flex library to 4.5.0 - still didn't work with current
app and update mxml files using "2.6" for their namespace versions. But I did at least
get the popup error number 16815 - indicating an error in the update version namespace.
By leaving my application namespace version at "2.6" and changing the update version to "2.5" ... bingo!
I got my new update installed autiomatically.
Is this how it's supposed to work - or are my runtimes mixed up?
Will this work the same using the Flex 4.5.1 SDK? I'll find out shortly
Hope this helps others.
