AnyConnect problems
I just updated to the new Cisco AnyConnect 2.3 client, and have a user complaining now. We were using the old, old, old client that was still in the 1.x designation. It was just the client that came with our ASA5510 until we got our CCO login so I could get new clients. I want to stay on the new client so that people on Vista will be able to use it.
The user that's complaining worked with the old client, but now when she tries to connect her computer just freezes up once the client tries to connect. The first thing I ran into... Her home computer was Windows XP SP1, she hadn't even gotten SP2 installed. Her system only has 256MB of memory, so it hits the minimum requirements barely.
Has anyone else that upgraded from old clients to new run into similar issues with computers just locking up and needing to be hard booted to do anything again? Wondering if someone else ran into this already and has a solution.
Hi,

AnyConnect problem with vpndownloader.exe
Hi Friends,
Recently, one user had been encountering some issues with the CiscoAnyConnect VPN connection and Symantec Anti Virus is keep blocking some ports .(The block was due to the application vpndownloader.exe.).
VPN gateways and ports are already opened and all users can use well since a month ago.
One of my customer got a problem while testing CiscoAnyconnect VPN on the WIN8.1 laptop intermittently gets the below error :
He is trying to establish the connections to four gateways and manage to isolate the error to one box which consistently gave the above error (215.100.xx.xx);
My question is
(1) “vpndownloader.exe” required ?
(2)why it only affected one gateway.
p/s : We use 4 ASA boxes, but user only got an issue with one ASA box, using Windows 8.1 (most users use Win 7 & XP).
Any advise ?
Thanks & Regards,hope below steps help you.
1. uninstall existing client set up
2. try to access external ip (outside interface of firewall) from your browser
3. it will ask you to install anyconnect vpn client software, install that.
4. when you run the anyconnect vpn first time, make sure that you logged in your system with admin priviledge username
5. right click on anyconnect icon, run as administrator.
I think this should work.

Rare, but weird AnyConnect problem
Hey folks!
I have the following setup:
Laptop connects to wireless via WLC using Cisco Anyconnect client. (WPA2 Enterprise AES, with 802.1x configuration password/EAP-FAST)
WLC authenticates user ID via ACS.
ACS queries AD for user ID and passes or fails.
Occasionally, we have a user that cannot login, no matter what laptop he/she uses.
ACS failed attempts log shows the following:
EAP-FAST user was provisioned with new PAC
The only fix we've found is to create a new instance of the same SSID and have them login using that.
Once they trust the server cert, they can login to any laptop.
I assume it's because they "accidentally" chose to not trust the server certificate. They always tell me they didn't do it :)~
My question is this. Why does that "accident" follow them from laptop to laptop?
Also, is there an easier fix than having them create an entirely new wireless connection in the AnyConnect client?
Thanks!
VenDamn, I have problems with wireless again
Something unusual is happening. When I boot my system, I get:
"err, wlan0: timed out", or something like that. BUT! sometimes, it connects and works beautiful. At first, I was always able to connect to my network, and now I can connect on every 10th or 15th boot and I haven't changed anything in my configuration files. Really weird... Then I was searching internet and figured out that I have problem with dhcpcd.
Any suggestions? I'll post my conf files if needed...
P.S. Sorry again for my bad English... -

Macos lyon cisco anyconnect problem
hi all
with Lyon, web deployment of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client software is not possible anymore. Secure Desktop stops working.
Snow Leopard worked fine!
when installing with an install image (not web deployment), the AnyConnect software works as expected.
tnx for any hints.There's a built-in Cisco VPN client. Use that instead.

We are running version 8.4(4)1 on ASA 5520s being used as Anyconnect VPN gateway.
Version 3.1.02026 is the package version for Windows(7/8) users...Few users have complained that while they are on anyconnect, they cannot browse locally accessible websites, such as bing.com...We use split tunneling as well as split dns...All requests (apart from those on our company's intranet) should be served by ISP DNS servers...
Only few users have complained and most of the time, it works fine.. Is there a known issue?ASA and AnyConnect aren't the latest versions, first I'd rather update AnyConnect on the specific client to the latest version.

Communication problem from the vpn-anyconnect to easy-vpn-remote
Hi Team,
I have a communication problem from the vpn-anyconnect to easy-vpn-remote, I´ll explain better bellow and see the attached
topology:
1) VPN Tunnel between HQ to Branch Office - That´s OK
2) VPN Tunnel between Client AnyConnect to HQ - That´s OK
The idea is that the Client Anyconnect is to reach the LAN at Branch Office, but did not reach.
The communication is stablished just when I start a session (icmp and/or rdp) from Branch Office to the Client AnyConnect,
in this way, the communication is OK, but just during a few minutes.
Could you help me?

the communication works when you send traffic from easyvpn branch side because it froms the IPSEC SA for local subnet and anyconnect HQ pool. The SA will only form when branch initiates the connection as this is dynamic peer connection to HQ ASA.
when there no SA between branch and HQ for this traffic, HQ ASA has no clue about where to send the traffic from anyconnect to branch network.
I hope it explains the cause.

Problems with auto upgrade Anyconnect 3.1
Hello,
I'm having problem with auto upgrade of Anyconnect 2.5 to 3.1.
Here is the situation :
I have ASA5510 running ASA 8.4.5 and clients are running Anyconnect 2.5.3055 and 3.1.00495 with 2 different profiles.
Clients with 2.5 can upgrade to 3.1 but then receive an "Invalid host entry" when they try to connect with new client. It works if they use FQDN instead of profiles. It's the same situation with Windows 7, Mac OS X and linux.
If I configure client software back to 2.5 on ASA, it works again for every client.
Do you have an idea ?
Thanks for your reply.
YannI have seen the same behavior on Mac OS X. A couple of points for me:
If I delete the profiles from /opt/cisco/anyconnect/profile then I can connect once (using the FQDN) but it then downloads the client profile and on next attempted connection it receives "invalid host entry." My profiles use the FQDN of my ASA and both forward and reverse DNS resolution are configured properly.
My workaround is to remove the AnyConnect Client Profile entirely, but I can get away with that because I have a very simple setup, with all users in one default group. If I had to pass different profile information to different users that would not be a solution.
Second, better workaround: I just exported the client profile, imported it under a different name, edited the new client profile to remove the server address, and assigned the new profile to the group policy. At their next login, users get all the profile settings and since the client remembers the FQDN they used to connect it doesn't adversely affect the user experience. -
Dear all,
Presently, we are testing 802.1x using Cisco ACS 5.4 and Cisco Anyconnect v3.1 as 802.1x supplicant. We have created predefined NAM profiles (with Cisco Profile Editor) and applied as default in on our test machine. We are using PEAP (MsCHAPv2) and ACS local user credentials for authenticating process. We have noticed that, when we try to authenticate the network with predefined profile (network profile has Administrator Network privileges) and Windows user on test machine has no Admin privileges we are not able to change ACS user password (checked "Change password on next login" in the ACS user profile). In the Monitoring and Report View we get Failure Reason "24203 User need to change password" but no popup window apears in Anyconnect. When we change Windows local user privileges to Admin or create Anyconnect network profile localy (privileges User Network) then, we are able to finish the process.
Have you ever been facing the problem described above. Is it Anyconnect bug? How can we fix it?
Best regards,
PiotrIf this happens with all machines then if a microsoft guy can look the app logs/privileges. It seems the app is requesting privilege that it is not authorized to and that's why the propmt window fails to appear. If we know what that privilege is we can probably fix it. If that privilege is not even required for smooth work Cisco need probably to fix this behavior.
I am sorry if I am not able to help but I am not using the anyconnect for production.
Regards,
Amjad

64-bit anyconnect on linux - problems with libraries
Hi,
we in the process of setting up Cisco Anyconenct for Linux 64-bit machines and are noticing some problems which seams to be related to the client not finding all libraries it expects. For example we got the issue that when connecting for the first time(no profile, ie no <ServerCertificateThumbprint>) the client find the Server Certificate no valid(which it is). We found out that the reson for that beeing Anyconnect was not properly using the nss-certstore for all operations. That was because the client cold not locate libnssckbi.so which was solved by:
ln -s /usr/lib64/libnssckbi.so /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/smhi.default/libnssckbi.so
Is there any other common librarie problems we should be aware of?
We are running Redhat 6 desktop.
Best regards
/MattiasHi,
I will reply on my own posting.
Other lib we have found it nessecary to link is:
ln -s /opt/cisco/anyconnect/lib/libcurl.so.3 /opt/cisco/anyconnect/lib/libcurl.so
Also, if running a 32-bit Anyconnect client on a 64-bit OS (which currently would be nessecary if you would like to run host-scan/securedesktop/posture) is:
Create /usr/local/firefox with links
[a001375@c14446 firefox]$ ls -la
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Oct 31 18:37 .
drwxr-xr-x. 14 root root 4096 Oct 31 18:35 ..
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Oct 31 17:06 libfreebl3.so -> /lib/libfreebl3.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Oct 31 17:00 libnspr4.so -> /lib/libnspr4.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Oct 31 16:58 libnss3.so -> /usr/lib/libnss3.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Oct 31 16:59 libnssdbm3.so -> /usr/lib/libnssdbm3.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Oct 31 17:00 libplc4.so -> /lib/libplc4.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Oct 31 17:00 libsmime3.so -> /usr/lib/libsmime3.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Oct 31 17:00 libsoftokn3.so -> /usr/lib/libsoftokn3.so
I can also share that I recieved an e-mail the other day from a nice fellow that would let us know they had produced a .SPEC-file for buliding AnyConnect RPMs.
Very usefull, thanks a lot Philip.
You will find information on that here:

Problem installing Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
Hello,
When attempting to install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, I get the following message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Well, my support personnel haven't been able to assist. I am attaching the setupapi.dev file I was told could help in troubleshooting. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.do you have the xml assigned in the group policy on the ASA? I know the scripting behavior changed between anyconnect 2.5 and 3.1. AnyConnect 2.5 only required the xml profile locally but 3.1 requires the xml with EnableScripting = true to be assigned to the group policy.

Anyconnect + windows 8.1 problem
Hei guys,
I'm getting really frustrated with this problem now. I have searched everywhere and tried everything I could and still I haven't solved this problem.
After upgrading to windows 8.1, I uninstalled the previous version of anyconnect, removed the driver, and then installed the version
3.1.05152. When I try to connect to my vpn, this message appears:
"anyconnect cannot confirm it is connected to your secure gateway"
and the connection is closed. I installed the server certificate into the trusted store, enabled/disabled the virtual port driver, restarted, unchecked the option "block connections to unstrusted servers" .. and nothing, always the same error message.
What else can I try to make it work?
Thanks!I also have this problem and have tried every available solution that I've come across from the DNE fix the registry fix to everything else. The registry change worked for Windows 8 but does not work for me in Windows 8.1.

SEP and AnyConnect ... problems
Hi!
Well, seems to Symantec Endpoint Protection soft has some problems with AnyConnect or vice versa. When on machine (Windows XP SP2 in my case) is AnyConnect and SEP version 11.0.4014.26 or (latest) 11.0.4202.75 then when AnyConnect is connected smc.exe takes high CPU and working is almost impossible. Interesting that with SEP version 11.0.4000.2295 is ... seems to ... everything OK. SEP can connect with SEPM and other services seems to work also OK and machine is responding well in general. Any ideas? More thanks, Alar.Hi again! Nope, my mistake. Bad network conf for VPN connection. After fixing this ... latest SEP clients work also OK. Sorry for bother. More thanks, Alar.

AnyConnect customized NAM Profile Problem
Hello,
i have a problem with the deployment of customized NAM profiles for AnyConnect 3.0.1047 clients on a Windows XP machine. I successfully installed via msiexec the anyconnect-win-3.0.1047-pre-deploy-k9.msi /passive /log c:\temp\anyconnect-base.log PRE_DEPLOY_DISABLE_VPN=1 and then the
anyconnect-nam-win-3.0.1047-k9.msi /passive /log c:\temp\anyconnect-nam.log.
But the folders ...\All Users\Application Data\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Network Access Manager and the subloder logs, newConfigFiles and setup where not created during setup prozedure.
So i created a profile with the AnyConnect profile editor and saved it as userConfiguration.xml in the setup folder. After restarting the anyconnect just ignores the xml file and starts with some default. In the try icon i see a wired LAN called wired. I can create another wired LAN from the advanced configuration of the client but i rather would use a customized profile without accessing every client.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advanced for your feedback
AlexHi Tarik,
thanks for your answer. I'll uninstall anyconnect disable the antivirus software and try again. I got some logfiles from the DART tool, i think i have some other issues. Here is some output of the logfile. it is particular this line which worries me.
