AnyConnect VPN with Windows 8.1

Has anyone else had issues with the anyconnect vpn client on windows 8.1?  I cannot get it to work for the life of me.  It will connect and find the gateway, prompt for password, then ask about certificate, the status on the client itself quickly changes to updating software, then blows up and with the failure to connect message...
Any ideas?

What I can tell you is that I have Windows 7 64bits and anyconnect works fine. ver 3.1.03103.
If you feel like share the address for the gateway and I will tell you if it ask for autentication. I don't really think the address is critical information.
It's your call.

  • Difference between setting up a vpn with windows 7 and cisco routers

Hi.I was wondering what the main difference Is between setting up a vpn with windows 7 or configuring It on cisco routers.
When you setup the vpn on windows 7 or xp do the client and server pc's take care of the encryption and decryption whereas configuring vpn on routers , the encryption and decryption Is done solely by the routers?
If I want to setup a connection where an IP In the same Internal lan Is assigned to the client pc I'm guessing I'd have to use a router configuration.
      Thanks

Thank you for the response, lucky for me there was another option. Threatened to cancel with the ISP on the NAT side unless they assigned us a public static ip/gateway/subnet. They ended up doing that and the VPN connected as soon as the changes were made in the Linksys.

  • AnyConnect VPN with Built-in Client Firewall on Windows 7

    Hi
I've searched the forums and documentation and can't seem to find a definitive answer to my scenario.
We have an ASA5510 with SecPlus running 8.3.2
We currently use VPN client on XP to invoke the built-in firewall to prevent incoming connections to the PC when the tunnel is established – the Cisco built-in client is not supported on Win7.
We’re looking to provide similar functionality with the AnyConnect client, i.e.
Full network access over the AnyConnect client (connection can be established manually)
AnyConnect client enforcing a local policy on the PC preventing incoming connections when the tunnel is established
    No clientless requirements
No mobile requirements (apple, android etc)
    No secure desktop requirements
    I’d like to ascertain if:-
Does the AnyConnect client include a firewall that is supported on Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)?
Will the Essential licence give me the functionality I require, or do I need a Premium?
    Thanks

    Hi Prashanth,
I think you can only use per-app VPN with SSL VPN.
    Hope this helps,

  • SMB Extremely Slow over VPN With Windows Server 2003

    Hello everyone,
I finally convinced another person at my law firm to switch to a MacBook Pro. In preparation, I am attempting to fix any compatibility problems that would put off this new user. Unfortunately, our IT guy recently switched us to a Sonicwall SSL-VPN 200. I can connect to our server through the VPN client with no problems and I can mount our internal file server, but the connection is incredibly slow. My initial reaction was that it must be a problem with Windows Server 2003 and SMB, but I was previously able to connect to and operate on our VPN through our old Fortinet (ipsec) device with no problems. Simply put, directory switching, file moving, etc. are all now incredibly slow over the VPN. Help!

Full support for SMB signing did not appear until Samba 3.0.2 released in 2004. Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) supports SMB signing. Previous versions require either disabling SMB signing server-side, using a third party SMB client, using the command-line smbclient program, or updating samba yourself.

  • Site to site VPN with windows server 2012

I am trying to connect our server to cisco site-to-site IPSec VPN with one of our partners servers, they asked us to implement the settings they gave us into our router, but actually we don't have access to the router, we are just connected directly with
our ISP. alternatively, we were informed that we can use software VPN instead, and yes we found a working one, tested and verified, but we have to pay for it to keep running.
Now my question is, having that we are running windows server 2012 R2, how can we establish this VPN connection directly from windows without the need to use third parties tools?
The only parameter that we have to connect are:
    Gateway IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Authentication Pre-shared Key: ######
    Encryption: 3DES
    Hash authentication: MD5
    DH: Group1
No username or password is needed with this type of VPN.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards, Abed

    Hi,
You may try to configure the Windows Server 2012 (RRAS) as VPN router to connect to the 3rd party VPN server(compatible with Windows Server VPN).

  • Problem with AnyConnect VPN on ASA 5505

    Hello everyone,
We're troubleshooting an issue where a client cannot pass any traffic across an AnyConnect VPN with an ASA5505 as the endpoint. The client receives and IP address in the 172.16.0.1/24 range and the ASA creates a static route to the 10.0.0.0/24 internal network but we cannot ping or connect to any internal IP address. The connection appears to fully build and pass traffic (based on the byte counts which increase) but we can't talk to the main network.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can check?
    Thanks!
    Ryan

AnyConnect client should not be in the same subnet as the internal hosts. It needs to be unique subnet within your environment, so you were on the right path initially.
If you can share your config, that would be easier for us to check.
In the meantime, a few things to check:
    1) Have you configured split tunnel policy?
    2) Do you have NAT exemption configured?
    3) Any VPN filter configured that might be blocking the traffic?
    4) Does the internal network know how to route back to the VPN Pool subnet (ie: via the ASA)
    5) Lastly, do you have "inspect icmp" configured?

  • Anyconnect VPN not prompting to accept Certificate (Windows 7)

    Hello,
I have an issue with windows 7 and anyconnect.  When trying to connect to the VPN server the anyconnect client pops up a window saying that the server certificate cannot be verified.
Doing the same in a windows XP machine just pops a window and prompts me to accept or refuse the certificate, which at least works.
    Any hints on this?
    Regards,
    Alex

I believe that Chandru's concern is in his statement that his DSL modem is controlled by the RAS service.
I agree with Andrew that Chandru probably does not need the RAS enabled. I have used several Dell laptop running XP and connected to DSL just fine without needing RAS. If there is some aspect of how the laptop is configured that results in needing RAS for the modem then perhaps Chandru can clarify this for us.

  • Anyconnect is not able to run with windows routing & remote access service

I am unable to connect with the new Anyconnect VPN installation when it tries to connect, it raises an alert that says, "The Windows Routing and Remote Access service is not compatible with the VPN client. The VPN client cannot operate when this service is running."
I have a Dell system laptop, OS is XP SP2 with all the latest Windows updates up to SP2. My internet connection is DSL modem. Internet hardware is an
external adapter connected to my USB port. The adapter is controlled by the Routing and Remote Access service mentioned in the alert message.
Can anyone help me how we can solve this issue. I appreciate the help and currently some of the users can not connect to my network who works from home.
    Thanks

  • Error 1722 Installing Anyconnect VPN (Windows 7)

    Hi,
i'm trying to install Anyconnect VPN Client (anyconnect-win-2.5.2006-web-deploy-k9) to connect the university wifi, but i always get an error 1722
    There
is a problem with this Windows Installer package. Ein Programm, das als
Teil des Setups ausgeführt wird, wurde nicht wie erwartet beendet.
Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I had this error and i couldn't fix it and i reinstalled the Windows 7 (HP Compaq 610). Than i could install the AnyconnectVPN. Today it tried to update, than i get the same error. Now i can't use it and i can't install it.
There are a lot of people with this problem but there is no information in internet to fix this problem.
I really need help. I don't want to reinstall the windows. (It's also not a solution).
There is a  key (Standart) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/..../RUNONCE without a value.
    What should i do now?

Have you uploaded the AnyConnect package to the vpn gateway yet? I would recommend that you uploaded the latest version: AnyConnect version 2.5.2017.
Firstly you would need to upload the package to the vpn gateway, and you would need to use the following:
    anyconnect-win-2.5.2017-k9.pkg
Once you have uploaded the package to the vpn gateway, you can download and install the AnyConnect onto your Windows 7 in 2 ways:
    1) From Windows 7, assuming that the vpn gateway has been configured for AnyConnect, then you can browse to the vpn gateway ip address, and the AnyConnect software will be automatically downloaded and installed on the Windows 7 machine.
    2) Alternatively, you can also pre-install the AnyConnect using the following file:
    anyconnect-win-2.5.2017-pre-deploy-k9.msi
    Hope that helps.

Is this the specification of Anyconnect?

    Nyanko,
This will happen when you are using tunnel all as the split tunneling policy, the computer will encrypt all the traffic so the default gateway will be removed from the physical connection and placed into the virtual adapter. If you take a look at the routing table you will see that what really happens is that the original default route's metric will be changed so that it is higher than the one injected by the virtual adapter, once you disconnect it should go back to normal.

  • Problem using SunRay with Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client

I am using Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client Version 2.5.3046
I  have a PC and a SunRay connected to my router. I use VPN to connect my  SunRay and my PC to my work computer. My PC works fine, I am able to  connect to the internet and also run cisco VPN to connect to my work  computer. But when I try to use my SunRay, I get a window on the screen  with the message:
VPN IKE Phase 1 agg I msg1This window  keeps moving around on the screen. I am not able to connect my SunRay  through VPN to my work computer. Any idea what could be wrong and how I  can fix this?

    2.2 is definitely better.
On one PC, I'm fine. On another -- very similar -- it tells me it can't start the VPN even after uninstalling and re-installing and everything else I can think of, with plenty of re-boots inbetween.

  • Really Need Some Help with CME 8.6 using IOS as Firewall and Anyconnect VPN on Phones

    Hello,
I have a 2911 Router with IOS Security and Voice enabled and we are using CME 8.6.  I am using a built-in Anyconnect VPN on 3 phones that are for remote users and thus I needed to enable security zones on the router which works because the remote phones will boot up, get their phone configs and I am able to call those remote phones from an outside line.
The issue I am having is that when I try to dial a remote phone connected via the VPN through port g0/0 from and internal office phone, i.e., NOT involving the PSTN then there is no audio.  It's as if no audio is going back and forth.  When I take off the security zones from the virtual-template interface and the g0/0 interface then the audio works great and I can reach the phone from internal as I am supposed to.
Could someone take a peek at my security config and see why audio would not be traveling through the VPN when I have my security zones turned on?

Would you be able to change the entry to permit ip any any (just for testing purpose) and then test to see if the calls function properly.  If they work fine then we know that we need to open som ports there.

  • Issue with Mac OS 10.8.3 and Anyconnect VPN Client 3.1.02026

    Hi all,
I am running Anyconnect VPN Client 3.1.02026 on Mac OS X 10.8.3.  I am unable to connect to my corporate network as the connection fails with following error :
The VPN client was unable to successfully verify the IP forwarding table modifications.  A VPN connection will not be established.
Can anyone suggest remedies. I am completely stuck. I had an older AnyConnect client and it was working until  a few days back when it stopped working. I then upgraded to 3.1.02026.
As suggested in some of the pots on the web, i  have disabled the following  AirPort, Bonjour, Bluetooth, Adium, restarted after these changes and yet i am seeing this.
My company has corporate license for Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
    TIA
    kumar

Or is there a problem with both OS's writing stuff to the
~/Home/Library folder that may be incompatible?
Yes, big time.  Mail, for sure, has a different file/folder structure, and would not be happy.
Plus, a number of apps (Apple and 3rd-party) are "Sandboxed."  That's a security feature, to prevent malware or bad coding from affecting things it shouldn't.  Some of their files, including the preferences files, aren't even stored in the same places!
Or to other places I'm not aware of?
Probably.  If you have two versions of the same app, they may or may not expect the same data setup.
To have one User folder for both OS's would save a lot of drive space
Not if you use some or all of woodmeister50's suggestions.
But I'm also not sure how I'd use Time machine with such a set up.
Just as you do now.  By default, Time Machine backs-up everything (except things like system work files, most caches and logs, trash) for all users and all internal drives & partitions.  By default, it excludes external drives.
You can change those defaults, of course, via TM Preferences > Options.
See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #32 for details and considerations of multiple drives.
    Presently I backup with . . . clones to other HD's
Good.   Yes, clones are different.  You need multiple "tasks" to back up multiple drives/partitions.  But once set up, that shouldn't be a big deal.
