Anyone able to connect to a drive using Airport Disk Manager?

I know that the login failure has been rampant judging from the posts here, with every post I've read saying that Mapping the Network drive is the only workaround. Has anyone running a Windows machine been able to use the AirDisk Manager to connect to a drive? If so, please share your experience.

Sure. I'd appreciate the help.
I can't connect to the internet. I have Vista, WRT54GS Version 7. I'm not sure of the firmware version, but I had a WRT54GS Version 5 previously that worked for a year until one day, it just stopped working. So I called Linksys and went through lots of steps and they told me they'll replace it. I just received this version 7 router and it still doesn't work. It shows that it's connected to the router but not the internet.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • How to connect a hard drive on Airport Extreme (second edition)

how to connect a hard drive on Airport Extreme (second edition)? Does it need a special format? It is now fromat on FAT32, but i don't see it ??

The USB port your Mac is high powered. The port on the AirPort Extreme is not.
So, it tends to be borderline as far as its ability to supply sufficient power to a hard drive...even if the hard drive has its own power supply.
Often, users...including me....need to use a powered USB hub when they attach any drive to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme.
You might want to give that a try. Double check to make sure that the drive is formatted in FAT32 as well, since Windows NTFS or exFAT will not work with the AirPort Extreme.
Powering down and restarting the entire network.....modem first, then router, etc.....is something that you would always want to do after any change or addition to a network.

  • Unable to Connect to the internet using airport extrteme

I am unable to connect to the internet using airport extreme It was working fine with my G3 & G4 iBooks but now I am unable to connect. I am able to connect directly to my Desktop connecting directly using ethernet. I am also receiving a strong signal from the airport base station. Please help. Thank you.

Try the following, in order, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
o Power-off the modem, AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • Not able to connect to oracle 11g using toad9.6

    Hey...
I installed 11g on Win7- 64 bit. I'm able to connect to DB using Sql*plus and cmd prompt but when i try to connect through toad, it says no client installed.
I installed 11g with "Desktop class" option.
    any suggestions ???

    Hi,
    1. If you have installed db and toad on the same machine, then the ORACLE_HOME of the database can be used as client.
    2. But if you have installed Database on machine1 and you try to connect from laptop1 then on laptop1 client must be installed (to allow TNS communication).
In case 1 above, check installed clients in the window (Session -> New Connection) on TOAD and make sure it is not red. And define TNSNAMES.ORA in the same oracle home listed in installed clients.
In case 2 above, you must have to install a client to allow the communucation between toad and server.
    Thanks

  • Not able to connect my JBoss server using JConsole tool

    Hi All,
I am trying to connect my JBoss Server 4.2 using Jconsole from the local machine. Well, my jboss is on my local machine and my jconsole is also on the same.
I have made the following configuration.
Added these three lines in run.conf.
    # Enable the jconsole agent remotely on port 12345
    JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=12345"
    JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false"
    JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false"
and start my Jconsole from JDK home dir. I go into Remote tab and put my IP address and port number 12345.
but it gives connection failed error.
Pls... Pls ... help me to get connected with the Jboss.
    Thanks & Rgds
    Sumit Jaju

    Hi
If you specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=6789, you don't need to specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=true.
Each of these property will start a different connector server. You only need to specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote if
you run on JDK 1.5 and you want to be able to connect locally to the server process instead of using the port specified
    by -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=6789.
It is a bad idea to specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false when you also specify -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=true
because if SSL is disabled then the credentials will be sent in clear through the network.
What I would suggest instead is:
copy <JRE_INSTALL>/lib/management/management.properties somewhere in your JBoss install.
copy <JRE_INSTALL>/lib/management/jmxremote.password.template to jmxremote.password somewhere in your JBoss install.
create a keystore/trustore for your JBoss server if it doesn't have one already.
Edit the management.properties and jmxremote.password you have copied - in particular makes sure that
your new management.properties points to your new jmxremote.password.
Make sure that only you (only the user that starts JBoss) has access to the new management.properties and jmxremote.password files.
Only specify these two system properties when starting JBoss:
    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=6789
    -Dcom.sun.management.config.file=<path/to/new/management.properties>
    Hope this helps,

  • I am able to connect to the internet using internet explorer, but when I try to connect through mozilla firefox it says 'it is unable to establish a connection to the server." why?

I can establish internet connection through internet explorer using a router at my house, but whenever I attempt to connect using firefox, it says it is unable to connect.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Incompatibility Issues with connecting USB Hard Drive to Airport Extreme

Over the last few days i have been fiddling around with my new Airport Extreme Base Station N router. I can connect a printer and use the internet through it seamlessly. I can even share two of my hard drives through a USB hub, however, my Maxtor 500 gb One Touch 4 HDD will not connect with my macbook through AEBS. It is only this drive that is not working with AEBS and it is the one i need to be connected and sharing. If i plug my 500gb Maxtor directly into my macbook it works fine, i can read all the files. This drive is formated as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
I am about to give up on this because i have tried everything:
    1. Reformatted HDD
    2. Downgraded Firmware
    3. Searched Forums for advice
    4. Reconfigured AEBS in, i think, every way possible
So, these are most of the things ive tried and so far there is no solution in sight. I have one hypothesis: my particular HDD (Maxtor 500gb One Touch 4) is incompatible with AEBS at this time, but it is possible that a future firmware update could fix this.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm lost and disappointed. Please help, thanks.

Chances are pretty good that the power draw of your external drive is just at the "tipping point" for what the USB port on the Extreme can deliver. Powered USB hubs are inexpensive and should help in this situation.

  • Cannot connect to remote speakers using Airport Express

Yesterday I was able to connect to my hi-fi using remote speakers in iTunes 6.0.4 through my Airport Express (AE) and take full advantage of Front Row, however later in the day the speaker selecton pop-button in iTunes disappeared. I did a hard-reset of the AE unit, shutdown the computer, checked the preferences selection in iTunes etc, all without success. I checked the discussion boards of both iTunes and Airport for a solution. Found something interested where someone said that they shutdown the computer and went to bed and in the morning, hey presto everything was working. He thought that having a good night's sleep was the solution. So, I shutdown the computer and went to bed. The next morning, the light on the AE was green and after booting up my iMac Intel the pop-button reappeared (I still don't know what solved the problem) but now it will not connect to the speakers. It tries but gives us after 30 seconds or so.
Here is what I have done so far: I used Airport setup assistant to set up the AE. During that process I selected to join an existing network that is provided by my Airport Extreme base station and I selected to only use the AE to share a printer and play iTunes using WDS bridging. This process works every time.
Right now, the light on the AE unit is flashing amber. In Airport Admin Utility both the Extreme and the Express are listed but the Extreme has an IP address of the 10.0.x.x variety whereas the Express has an IP address 169.254.x.x variety! Strange. If I double-click on the Express it takes an age to get a response and when the response eventually comes - asking for the password I then get an error saying that "the airport admin utility was unable to read the configuration of the selected base station.
I have tried resetting and repeating the above without success. Therefore, any other ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I want to boast about Front Row to my Windows friends without the embarrassment of connection problems

I am having almost exactly the same trouble with an Airport network I recently set up in my home. I have a G5 with a brand new Airport card, an Airport Extreme Base Station (also brand new) in the same room acting as my internet portal, and an Airport Express (yup--brand new) downstairs piping iTunes to the stereo.
I could get the G5 and Extreme base to talk without a hitch--they are right next to one another, after all. When I tried to link the Express into the same network, the Express vanishes. When I tried moving it into the same room with the Extreme, I could find it, and play tunes through a set of headphones. Moving to an outlet in the hall outside the room, it still worked. Moved to an outlet on the far wall of the room across the hall, it would play only sporadically, dropping out about 4 seconds out of every six. Anywhere else, and it wouldn't show up at all.
However, when I set up the Express to be a separate network, my G5 was able to access it and play music without difficulty, anywhere in the house. I've been playing iTunes on my stereo for weeks, with the downside that I can't do that and surf the web at the same time.
Last night I tried the experiment of moving the Extreme Base Station around. With my G5 in the living room, in the approximate center of the house (1/2-level above the basement, 1/2-level below the office--it's a split level), I was able to access the Express and play tunes on the stereo as usual. With the Extreme Base downstairs, right next to the Express, my G5 could not even locate its signal. Fifteen feet closer to the center of the house (but still downstairs): couldn't find it. At the base of the stairs: couldn't find it. At the top of the stairs (20 feet from the G5, but just around a corner): couldn't find it. Three feet out into the foyer at the top of the stairs (and now in a direct line of sight to the G5): 20-30% signal. Keep in mind that during all this, I could switch over to the Express network at will (75% signal) and play music downstairs without a hiccup.
It seems to me that there's something wrong with the Extreme Station itself (or at least, with the way it's trying to communicate). If it were external interference due to an outside network, a microwave oven, or a 2.4 GHz cordless telephone, I would expect it to effect both networks equally--but it isn't. The Express seems impervious. I've noticed in another set of posts that some people with wireless connection problems have found that switching from the most recent version of the Extreme Base firmware (5.7) to an older one (5.5.1) has fixed the problem. I plan to give it a shot myself. I'll let you know how it turns out.

  • Trouble connecting external hard drive to AirPort Extreme

I now have my AirPort Extreme set up for my wireless network. But I have tried to connect my seagate 1TB powered external hard drive to the AirPort Extreme for file sharing via the USB port. But for some reason even though there's power to the hard drive it doesn't show up in airport utility or in my finder. Do you know how to fix this? It works perfectly fine and normal when I just plug the hard drive into one of my USB ports on my iMac. Can anyone help? Thanks

Connect the hard drive directly to your Mac and launch Disk Utility. Select the drive and click on the Repair Drive button. Once this has finished try connecting the drive again and then launch AirPort Utility and see if the drive shows up.
One thing I've noticed is that if the external drive has any directory errors it won't mount in AirPort.

  • ISCSI NAS Drive visible in Disk Management w correct props; not visible in Explorer

I have a NAS drive setup as a RAID 6. I have it on a network and until a few days ago, all was fine, i.e. I could access it and the files that reside on it. NOW, I cannot access any of the files on the drive. In Windows Explorer, the drive is identified
but when I click on Properties, it has no characteristics. In Windows Disk Management, the drive shows and when I click on Properties, the correct characteristics are displayed, including the fact that a portion of the drive is used. However, when I try to
open the drive, it cannot be opened. I have checked the network settings and everything seems to be correct. Also, Microsoft iSCSI is running. I am running Windows 7.
I have disconnected and reconnected the drive. Shutdown the NAS drive and rebooted the computer. None of these steps changed anything. Also, I have not loaded or updated any software.
What should/can I do?? Thanks in advance for any help.

I do it all the time using my TC and USB attached LaCie d2. Launch Airport Utility and go to DISKS then File Sharing. Check enable file sharing. Secure your disk(s). Check share disks over wan port. Go to Internet tab and make note of the IP address.
Then in the Finder use GO and type afp://ip dress you have in Airport Utility under Internet user must then enter password and you are connected.
I've done this from Detroit to Pittsburgh and back.
