Anyone can access my Outlook 2010 mailbox.

When I start Outlook 2010 my mailbox opens up immediately and is fully accessible. This means that anyone can walk up to my computer, launch Outlook and view and make change to my account. I am in a Domain and connection to an Exchange server. I can
configure Outlook to always prompt me for a username and password but this doesn't prevent access to my mailbox; Outlook starts, then the login prompt appears near the top of the screen. At this point all I have to do is move the prompt out of the way
or exit out of it without logging in and I can do anything I want; read emails, create emails, delete emails, etc. I have tried several searches without any luck and reviewed the "Top related threads", non of which was relevant to
my issue.
The computer that I am using is a staff computer with a generic user account and is used by several other people. I don't want other people to be able to view my email, much less make changes to my mailbox! Setting up a separate NT user account is not
an option. How can I configure Outlook so that my account isn't in any way accessible until after I have logged in to it with my username and password?

Change your account so that it's set to always ask for your Exchange logon credentials
File --> Account Settings --> highlight your email account --> Change --> More Settings --> select <Security> tab --> check the Logon credential option

    I have 3 email accounts defined in Exchange 2010.  Can't get outlook 2010 to connect to them via SMTP, IMAP, or POP3. Keep getting error can't find the exchange server.  I use other email clients like thunderbird, eClient and they connect fine.
    Any ideas as to what's going on?  Is there ans SP1, SP2 for outlook?  Not ready for Exchange 2013 yet.

    I can't sync Outlook 2010 with iCloud. The iCloud Control Panel says to install Outlook even though I already have it. I am not given the option to to check the Mail, Contacts or Calendars boxes. How can I check the boxes so I can sync properly?...right now all my Calendar has duplicate items.

    I believe you have right - the Add-in is the problem. Right now, my Outlook 2010 do NOT have the iCloud add-in. You mention something about downloading it - where can I find it ??  I have tested to uninstall and install again, nothing changes my syncing with Outlook 2010 after the initial setup has been done with iCloud.....

  • Outlook 2010 -Mailbox Cleanup wizard does not start when using cached mode

    We are using Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2003 server.
    Currently all users are using online mode, but for some problem, I need to persuade the users to change to use cached mode.
    Recently we find that when user
    mailbox reaches its size limit and try to send an email message in Outlook 2010 that is in cached mode, the email message stays in the
    Outbox and the Mailbox Cleanup wizard does not start. It just prompts
    for "send and receive error". As most of the user would not look for what the error is referring and just call IT to fix. Even worst is, they didn't realize that the mail is still in outbox.

    Hi,
    Based on my research from the internal resource, this issue has been fixed in build 14.0.6126.5000 or less. I suppose that the hotfix not available because it has been involved in the release.
    I’d like to confirm your Office 2010 build number so that we can conduct a deeper analysis on this issue.
    In addition, make sure you have installed the latest update for Office 2010.

  • Can't find Outlook 2010 Task and Contact Folders

    I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7.  Prior to the upgrade, my Outlook 2010 pst file had grown extremely large (39G) as it was not recognizing deletions I was making.  After the upgrade, I can open the 39G pst file, but all I see is
    my emails, not my task, contact or calendar folders.  How can I get to my task, contact and calendar folders?

    Do you mean when you select tasks, contacts or the calendar that nothing is visible in there, or that you can't see those folders at all?
    If you're not seeing them at all, have you checked down the bottom of the left hand window and made sure the icons are visible for those three? If you select the Folder view you should then also see those folders along with the mail folders (if you're in
    Mail view you will only see mail items displayed, not any of the other folders).
    In terms of mailbox pst file size, you have remembered to empty the deleted items folder I assume? If you right click on the mailbox, go to properties and then click Folder Size you'll see how much space is being used by your mailbox folders and whether
    you really are using 39GB or if it's mostly empty space.

    I purchased a downloadable recording from a website.  I can access it through the confirmation they sent me in my mailbox, but it doesn't appear to actually have downloaded on to my iPad 2 device.  Where is it?  Can I create an icon for it on my home screen.

    If you bookmark the link as favorite you can have an icon on your Safari page. Some websites let you add a icon on your home screen but it's still a link to a website.

  • Can't sync Outlook 2010 contact pictures to Blackberry using desktop manager?

    I'm new to the forum. I have an issue with syncing my Blackberry Tour to with my Outlook 2010 through Desktop Manager 6. All the data for Calendar and Contacts syncs correctly except for the contact photos. When I sync the photo's from Outlook don't transfer over to the blackberry and If I have a photo attacked to a contact on the blackberry it get's removed. There is one exception to this and that is that Facebook photo's linked to contacts remain on the blackberry as well as Outlook. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    I would recommend downloading and installig the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager. This now has support for Microsoft Outlook 2010 64-bit.

  • Can't display outlook 2010 embedded screenshots in GWise 12!

    Hi,
    we've a big customer, who sends us mails with screenshots ( for example, an excel sheet ), directly in the mailtext! The customer is using outlook 2010 and we are using GroupWise 2012 12.0.3! If we open the mails, we cannot see any screenshot, we get only a text mail!
    Any idea what was wrong? Encoding? GWIA? Exchange problem? How can i test, which system is the problem?

    There is a field in the Outlook/Exchange contacts that says treat this
    contact as a if they are also running Outlook/Exchange which then has
    the email going out do odd proprietary Exchange things that don't work
    with most other email systems. Something along the lines of "Always
    send to this recipient in Microsoft Exchange Rich Text Format" needs to
    be turned off of the contacts.

    Outlook 2010 is a Windows desktop application. iCloud does not provide a desktop application.
    Even if you start using iCloud for email, you'd still need to set the email account up in Outlook to use it, so it won't really be any different - unless you only ever intend to use webmail, which is not really a fully featured replacement for a dedicated desktop email client.

    Hi, This is my first time on the forum. I have searched for similar issues and tried some suggestions, but am still having issues. I get "BlackBerry Desktop Software has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message trying to sync to Outlook 2010 address book using DM 6. When I press debug to get more info, I get the error "Rim.Desktop.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" and then it shuts down. I have narrowed it to just my address book. My notes, calendar, and tasks sync fine. I thought it may be some rich text (hyperlinks, etc.) in the notes of contacts and disabled the link of the body to notes in the advanced options, but it still crashes.   • Can't Restore Exchange 2010 Mailbox DB from HP Data Protector backup

    I'm trying to implement Exchange 2010, but I won't feel comfortable moving many users to it until I've successfully restored a mail database from tape backup.  So far, this hasn't worked out so well.  I'm using HP Data Protector for my backup solution.
    Here's what I've done:
    1.  In DP's "Restore" GUI, navigated down to the MS Volume Shadow Copy Writers entry, then selected both "Files" and "Logs" from the DB's entry under Microsoft Information Store.  I'm not restoring any of the other Writers.  So that I don't have to take down Exchange, I'm restoring them to a temporary restore location.
    2. After the restore completes, I go to the temporary restore location on the server and run eseutil /mh on the database, which returns a "Dirty Shutdown" db status.
    3.  Since I have the log files, I attempt to repair using eseutil /r E01 in the log files' path.  This generates "Operation terminated with error -1216 (JET_errAttachedDatabaseMismatch, An outstanding database attachment has been detected at the start or end of recovery, but database is missing or does not match attachment info) after 10.608 seconds."
    Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong with this recovery?  If my steps are incorrect I'd love to know, as HP's documentation for restoring Exchange 2010 is very young and not terribly useful.  My ultimate goal is to be able to restore a database from DP's tapes and bring it back online on the Exchange 2010 server.

    Hi Ben,
    We backup our primary database (Ex Writer) and always with full backup (DB+LOGS). When we restore we restore to alternate location, then manualy copy db file and everything from restored log directory to one folder (for example: d:\restore_DB1). At this
    stage DB is in dirty shutdown state. Then we run (in folder where we copied db file and log files) 
    Eseutil.exe /R E00 /D
    it takes a couple of seconds (160GB file) and the db is in clean shutdown state. Then we do:
    New-MailboxDatabase -Name “Restored DB” -Server MBOX1 -EDBFilePath “D:\Restore_DB1\DB1.edb”
    -Logfolderpath “D:\Restore_DB1” -Recovery
    and
    Mount-Database “Restored DB”
    now we can restore single mailbox or even single item from mailbox with:
    1: whole mailbox with overite the destination
    Restore-Mailbox –Identity “USERNAME” –RecoveryDatabase “Restored DB”
    2. whole mailbox to alternate location (new folder in another mailbox)
    Restore-Mailbox –Identity “EXISTING MAILBOX TO RESOTRE TO” –RecoveryDatabase “Restored DB” –RecoveryMailbox “MAILBOX DO BE RESTORED
    FROM BACKUP” –TargetFolder “NEW FOLDER IN EXISTING MAILBOX”
    3. the same as 2 but single item with MEETING in email subject
    Restore-Mailbox –Identity “EXISTING MAILBOX TO RESOTRE TO” –RecoveryDatabase “Restored DB” –RecoveryMailbox “MAILBOX DO BE RESTORED
    FROM BACKUP” -SubjectKeywords "MEETING" –TargetFolder “NEW FOLDER IN EXISTING MAILBOX”

    It sounds like you have a security issue there. The agilent instrument driver that you are using requires access to some files that are restricted to Administrators on that machine. What you need to do is to give everyone full access to the instruments' driver directory. For example, if you are using LabVIEW, this will be in /labview/instr.lib. You will have to right click on the directory if you are in the Windows environment, choose properties and in the security tab, give Every One full access to the directory.
