Flash Player 10.1 is out anyone develop for ANDROID yet?
Is it easy to get an app onto ANDROID, do you have to do it through the ANDROID store, or can you just copy it onto the phone and you're all set?
I guess you can just create a flex app and access it through the web...

Is anyone developing for Android Tablet? (w/different resolution?)

The default Android smartphone resolution is 480x800.
But the biggest screensize so far for an Android Tablet is the Samsung Galaxy tab at 800x1280.
Was wondering if anyone is developing a flash app at the 800x1280 resolution? or is this not an option? or not smart to do?
I don't own an android tablet, so it's hard for me to test a 480x800 app on the 800x1280 screen.

My own personal preference is to target the phones first since that's probably 80% or more of your users and the proportions between iPhone and your average Android phone are similar so once you have it laid out nicely for the iPhone or vice versa it will function just as well on the other platform. The slim galaxy tablet is basically an enlarged Android phone so it will port nicely too, where the iPad is closer to a square and its significantly larger than an iPhone so its sort of a special case.
I dont know if there is a way to get the PPI of the device, pixels per inch, but that would be a very useful number to have since then you just make your buttons equal a quarter inch across all devices instead of having giant buttons on the iPad or unclickable buttons on the iPhone.

Cross-Platform Development for Android and Windows PC

Hi,
Im trying to build a native Android app and port it over to windows. Is there a way to build the Android App to minimize the recoding in Windows?
Has anyone used CodeNameOne or Xamarin and, if so, what was your experience? Are there better alternatives or approaches?
In case it makes a difference, is it better to build an app in Android and port to Windows (desktop) or build in Windows and port into Android?

the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor.
As far as I know, Visual Studio does not support Android development. I suggest you should consulting your issue on Android forums for better support.
For CodeNameOne and Xamarin, they are third-party tools, please consult on the forums/community provided by their authors.

Any release date for LR mobile for Android yet?

Eagerly waiting for the Android version of LR mobile, since sorting and tagging my photos og the tablet would be invaluable to my workflow. Any news?

Anyone develop NR Presets yet?

On a positive LR 3 side the whole Detail section is excellent. That said, I'd be interested in sharing any preset values for the various ISO settings and conditions with the Canon 7D. Obviously varies, but talking about "starting" points for 3200 indoor, 1600 outdoor, etc.

Your first reply I guess indicates that it wasn't out of concern for my eyesight, so we have that one put to bed. As for the concept of a preset vs. an ISO specific default, you somewhat answer your own question when you suggest my settings for an indoor theater production are questionable. Indoor 3200 ISO can and wll likely be different than outdoor 3200. That said either could benefit from a starting point which tends to optmize detail retention vs. all the newly available settings in the Detail section. That being the case, I don't want a ISO based default. I do want a tailored preset given perhaps a set of conditions. Isn't that the concept behind the User's presets section? All I'm suggesting is a shared effort.
The lighting condition I describe is not all that different when you think about it from any number of indoor venues. If a good 3200 Tungsten light preset can help someone fine tune the image from there and we get into a mode of sharing, why does this bother you?
Somehow, and I appreciate your seniority here in terms of posts, if this was something that didn't intereset you, why bother replying in the first place? It can't be because you're discouraging sharing information, I don't think you're against posting some positive things about LR 3 given all the other things going on.. So while you may not find value, others might. I think you've stated your thoughts pretty clearly.
The point being, if you'd like to contribute or help, great... would love your expertise or experiences. If not, there are a lot of other messages on the forum right now that may be of more interest or that could use your help.

The question was "is it really so difficult". I'm simply trying to establish what it is about the control set or behaviour that has you/others looking for presets. Setting up a camera ISO specific default gets you to a starting point without even having to look for an appropriate preset. Also, tweaking image to taste shouldn't need for the process to begin with a preset.

Flash CS5 extensions for android unavailable from adobe?? anyone know solution

Hello, I'm totally new to developing apps for android and am just getting started in flash CS5. According to most tutorials that I can find on the web I need to install an extension from adobe.

Adobe (and your awesome staff), on a whole I think you do a great job and obviously most of us love your tools.
I don't post on these forums much, but I've been a member since 2002 (and certianly read a lot of posts).
The software hasn't been out in Oz for 12 months yet, so how do you expect people to start leveraging the new features and expand if you make it cost prohibitive and have to upgrade to the next full version (well before it's release), by subsequently taking down the value added components that the customer base obviously want / need / and appreciate. (my assumption is that when you say 'release' you are talking about full release and not simply an online update).
In helenthegreat_2011 case you have obviously alienated a recent customer that was after functionality you advertise, by promoting the diversity and flexibility of you tools, and reading recent posts it doesn't seem isolated.
I expect new developers would have at least 6 months lead time before a new version rolls out (the common 18 months version gap) and that's potentially 6 months of existing Adobe customers developing with that platform in mind, (and cementing a stronger client base using your tools to develop for Android).
So essentially the devs that have the extension currently are the only ones that are able to use FP to develop Android apps, and Adobe have locked the rest of the customer base out, mandating that they will need to purchase the next version of FP to be able to do this. .
Can Adobe please clarify what your customers are supposed to do in the mean time / or do you have an alternative for us?
What was the reason it was taken down? Was it unstable, or was it up to simply test, gauged interest, and try to profit maximise by pushing the functionality to a new release.
To quote your page "The extension for Flash Pro CS5 to deploy applications to the Android platform will no longer be available. This feature is being rolled into the next release for Adobe Flash Professional. Please check http://www.adobe.com for latest news and information about the availability of the next version of our Creative Suite products."
And that's all it says (http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashpro_extensionforair/) Could we please either have the extension back, or at least a bit more of an explanation other than "Pay out a few more thousand dollars and you can have the functionality - but you'll have to wait until we release it first."
Here's the rub...
Personally, 4 months ago I spent just under $4,000 (AU$) to purchase CS5 Master Collection.
I wont be waiting until Adobe release FP CS6 to be able to develop for Android devices, I'll be investing the time to find alternate development environments (such as Unity3D http://unity3d.com/unity/publishing/android) and ditching the plans of using Fash for Android dev.
If you're going to arbitrarily take down the tools that extend the functionality of your product, then at least spend the time taking down all the Adobe articles, tutorials, videos, etc on your site that promote it as an availble functionality.
Unless we're missing something or there is an aloternative, on the face of it, I think it's poor form Adobe.

Why is my account with Creative Clound can not develop for android but only for Ipad. How can I develop for android? I would not want to pay more for a subscription plan Digital Publishing Suite to power. I do not have a very large volume to justify a new subscription.

Video Conferencing in Air 3 for Android/IOS

We are in the process of creating a Video Conferencing application for Android and IOS devices, the app would be published on Android and IOS market. I have some quires related to using Air 3.0 for the development:
For Android devices Front facing camera is supported only in Air 3.0, but can we assume Air 3.0 would be officially available by end of this year?
Would this feature available for all Android 2.2 and above devices?
Can we use Flash Media Server/any other streaming server for video conferencing?
I have read in some of the post that Apple store do not allow video streaming with RTMP, is this true? Is there any work-around to use streaming video from within Air app for IOS?

It was "easy" to set up (quotes: as easy as something complicate can be).
Consumables, or One-time-purchases worked out of the box, but restore, subscriptions and auto subscriptions (like newspapers) had bugs like hell and were unusable.

I dont think there is an app available for android yet.
However, for BB deploymet, you would have to install a BB mobile server.
This would help you to get the MobileOTA file deployed on your BB device.

Just curious if anyone has tried AIR on the Ouya yet, and your thoughts if so. Despite the mixed reviews about the system, I'm interested in developing for it, but I'd like to hear an AIR developer's experience with the system if possible.

I've just received the Quicken version for Lion and it crashed on four of my five files. The 5th file didnot show all the quotes. I searched the web and found that the new version is having problems with the Quote file. I tried the suggestion from Intuit. See following URL.

With the above you loss all your security quotes and need to repopulate the data file. I suggest that you try the following process on a Snow Leopard system.
To avoid a corrupt Quote file perform the following before moving to Lion. This process will give the Lion version a fresh Quote file.
1. Start Quicken with you data file
2. Open File > Export > Selected Items to QIF...
3. Check only the box for Securities
4. Quick Quicken
5. Hold down the Control key and single-click (or right-click) your data file
6. Select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu
7. Control + click on the Quotes file, select Move to Trash
8. Start Quicken with you data file
9. Open File > Import > From QIF...
10. Quick Quicken
Now all my files run on the Lion version with all the quote values.

Explain your credentials. Do you know AS2 or AS3 programming. Familiar with AIR SDK? Flex SDK? Flash Professional? Flash Builder? FDT + Eclipse?
Where you start greatly determines the recommendation. If none of the above is anything you would consider yourself to be familiar with, and books are your thing, you're a half dozen or more books from where you need to be.

Android development for SAP

Hello Everyone,
I'm keen on learning SAP mobile application development for which I started to look into the mobile area within SDN. I found that application can be developed for various platforms like iPhone, Android, Blackberry etc. I'm more keen on Android so started checking the Android links within the SAP Mobile area.
Now I'm little confused. It takes me to the Android website wherein I have the lots of information including how to develop android applications. I'm fine with that but I'm not sure how it is going to interact with SAP. I've worked on the Hello Android tutorial but I do not seem to see a path which will led me to the development of these application working within SAP.
Please if anyone can clear the picture so that I'm able to understand the whole scenario & work further towards my learning of the SAP mobile development.

Hi Pro,
Welcome to the forum. When it comes to interacting with SAP from Android (or any other mobile platform for that matter) you will need to look at one of 3 ways:
1) Sybase Unwired Platform - A server that allows access to the back-end SAP through the exposition of certain functions. This also has the added advantage of generating code for you which automatically takes care of the back end connection as well as offline functionality (so in your case that code would be in JAVA). With the release of version 2.1 in the last few days - Android is fully supported as well.
2) REST services - This is where you can write some code in the back-end (SAP System) which will allow you to consume resources using JSON or XML. This would be using a web service and can be quite effective for certain applications. Usually you would need some ABAP experience to do this as you would have to write the REST service to expose the service/data you wish to build on.
3) SAP Gateway - this, like SUP, is a server that exposes services from the back end and allows you to consume them in a similar way to a REST service. Much data is available on the SAP website on this topic as well as a log of videos to show what it can do.
What kind of functionality are you hoping to achieve in your mobile app?
