Anyone else getting a loop between setup and "connect to iTunes"?
My iPad Air syncs with iTunes just fine, or so it seems, but the iPad doesn't know it and keeps trying to have me start the setup again. Anyone else?
Silly me. But, on some level, what were the human interface designers thinking?
After synching the new iPad, I was delivered to the same screen that greeted me when I first turned it on, leaving me to believe that nothing had happened. When presented with the possibility of setting up the iPad as a new device, I passed on that one, expecting that everything I'd added would be erased, so I never chose that option. Would it trouble the HID folks to deliver you to a screen that tells you where you've been and what you've done so far and gives you options of where to go? Where's Tog when we need him?
But it's just as much my fault for thinking that because I synched my iPad that I wasn't setting up a new iPad. I think.
Two calls to Apple Care resolved the issue. Over an hour on the phone.

So on friday i got my iphone 5, i was sooooo excited as i'd been saving up for it for like.. ages!
i got the white 32gb, and i noticed on the back at the top of the aluminium under the camera there's like a scuff mark.. it's not that noticeable.. but it's there.. i thought it was dirt.. so i tried wiping it off even though my phone is ALWAYS in a case.. and it didn't come off.. i just assumed i had a mark in the aluminium.. but today i have found yet another mark... this time a scratch in the glass.. i know i haven't made these marks cause i have been sooo careful with my iphone! afterall £600 for this phone is SO expensive!!!
I looked on the internet and discovered 30-40% of iphone 5's are arriving marked and scratched! OMG!! Couldn't believe it
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem? And also how is the battery life of you iphone 5? and mine gets ridiculously hot!

Anyone else seeing a discrepancy between IE and Firefox in these forums?
I just recently enabled my Mac account so that I can login to these discussion forums. In Firefox, I see no New Post icon. In IE, I do.
Is this a known issue? I've pored over my settings and can't seem to find the magic trick that would allow Firefox to give me the same functionality as IE7. That is quite odd. Doesn't make much sense that these browsers render these pages differently.I need to select a "Forum / Category" before the option to post is available
Actually, you need to select a Forum, not Category, to see Post new topic.
It shows Forum/Category because the links below that are either a forum or a category.
For instance iTunes is a category and so is iTunes for Windows but Using iTunes for Windows is one of the six different forums in the iTunes for Windows category. -
Does anyone else get a Netfix window popping up unexpectedly? I have an iMac with OSX 10.6.8 and Safari browser version 5.1.10. It only happens when I go to a specific local news site, and it is only a Netflix window that opens up. I do have a Netflix account.
Do you have Block Popup Windows checked in Safari/Preferences/Security?

I did get a "server busy" message when I loaded quicktime, but I'm not sure if it is related or not since I've been seeing that over the last couple of days, I can't remember if it came before iTunes stopped working or not. That message reads "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." My options then are to choose switch to or retry. When I press "switch to" my Start menu opens, and nothing appears to happen when I select retry.
that's an odd sort of a message (or series of messages).
hmmmmm. let's try an experiment aimed at working out if there's a program interfering with the QuickTime (which is in turn causing grief with your iTunes).
try a selective startup using MSCONFIG, with just the itunes and QuickTime background processes enabled, as per the following document:

Free? Setup and Connection in "Get Connected"
Just to see if anyone had the "No connection Fee" experience with the recent BT's promotion in their "Get Connected" package.
My BT line was installed on 28th Jan after joining above promotion which was due to expired end of Jan 2010 and was extending, probably still going, in which the setup and connection fees are waived if signed up for 18 months, which I did.
The first bill came at beginning of Feb showing the full connection fee of £124.99, I had to call BT to sort this out, the voice at BT said, oops, discount show have been given, admin error !! The money will be credited in the next bill (28th Feb) and the options I was given were
1) Pay the full bill (as I've DD setup to do so already) then get the credit in my next bill - no chance, I rather keep the money in my pocket!!
2) Cancel the DD, suspend the payment, wait for next bill (with the credit), then everything will sort itself out - this was the option I then agreed.
However, I have lost out the discounts on line rental (From DD and paperless billing) and I can't setup the account till the Feb bill has been paid.
So from a BT admin error, it cost me both time (to sort this out on the phone and re-setup the DD) and money due to loss of rent discounts (and I don't know when I can setup the DD as the website is not allowing me to do it currently, may be due the the Account is being suspended).
What a hassle, all from a BT admin error !!The situation is getting more and more in BT's favour!!
This month's bill (dated 28th Feb '10) has eventually available online on 2nd March. Correct, the £124.99 connection charge has been reversed but on the date of the credit, from the basic Weekend only package, I'm now on Evening & Weekend Package costing an extra £2.99 per month - which I absolutely do not need !!
So I phone up and eventually spoke to a very nice gentleman in Billing Section, agreed to the, yet an operator error by enterring a "wrong" code causing the upgrade of Calling Plan. Also agreed to credit me with the manual payment processing fee of £1.50. Unfortunately, after over half an hour on the phone, not able to change my Calling Plan Back and said he'll have to pass it onto someone else to sort out the next day, which would be acceptable as he did genuinely want to help.
I kept a close eye on the Calling Plan details online over the last 2 days, all the changes (and credits) have been actioned and can be seen online, great, I thought, until I looked at the calling plans page. I'm now on 2 plans costing me a total of £23.08 per month !!!!
The Weekend only plan is £11.54/month which is correct, but I'm also on "the weekend + free connection package" also costing £11.54/month giving a total of £23.08 per month, I assumed this will start from the previous change date as requested by me.
The only way to explain all this is the BT System has been program in such a way that doesn't matter how had the operator tries, the end only way the changes can be accepted is by charging more month per month !!
Come on software guys (or is it management?), please sort this out, this is not accetable !! -
Did Anyone Else Get 5.5.3 update?
RESOLVED.
Airport just updated to 5.5.3 while I was out and my girlfriend was using the Mac. Did anyone else get this update?

I did notice that the AirPort Utility now correctly distinguishes between the generations of the AirPort Extreme ... correctly identifying that I have both a 3rd & 4th generation models. I assume, at this time, it will do the same for the Time Capsule.

That said, Javascript which fails in Safari usually is something that is non-standard since Safari makes a genuine effort to follow http://www.w3.org/ standards. If you encounter a website that doesn't follow these standards, point them to http://www.anybrowser.org/ for guidance on making more uniformly compatible websites. In the meantime there are many other web browsers made for Mac OS X like Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Omniweb, Camino, Internet Explorer, Opera, and iCab. If you find a website that doesn't behave well in Safari, use the Report bug to Apple in the Safari menu. There is a Safari Enhancer which has a User Agent submenu in the Debug menu it enables. That same Debug menu can be enabled from Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal via this command line:
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
The User Agent specified will spoof certain websites into thinking you are using a different web browser. In the end though, it usually is better to inform webmasters when their website is not accessible. -

If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:

I was recently trying to upgrade to mountain lion through the app store. I have unreliable Internet from a cable company whom I will not name, but we all know who they are. My Internet dropped while downloading the upgrade. Once I went through the notorious unplug the modem/router and plugged it back in to gain Internet connectivity again, I could not resume. No matter what I did, the app store kept displaying "an error occurred." I am hoping that those with the same issue read this first to save them hours of skimming through the Internet to find a solution. Here are the steps to take:
1. Make sure you have reestablished Internet connection
2. Chances are you got frustrated when you tried to resume/unpause the download and clicked the "X" to the left. If so, select the "Store" drop-down menu from the App Store and select "View My Account." There should be an option to unhide your purchase. You know what to do.
3. There is also an option to reset all warnings for buying and downloading under "View My Account." Do this, click "Done," sign out of the App Store and quit the App Store.
4. Open the Preferences in safari and select Privacy. Select "Remove All Website Data." Just do it.
5. Launch the app store and sign in.
6. Now, if you "Check for Unfinished Downloads" everything works peachy.
I hope this helps. Not much I can do for your Internet connection though.

Update not available - anyone else getting this problem?
I have LR4 and just clicked 'Check for Updates' and keep getting update check unsucessful and its keeps telling me to check internet connection even though thats working.
Anyone else getting this error? I'm just wondering if its maybe with the update being released soon perhaps?There's another thread running: "No check for updates"

Anyone else get a NX6800 TD128 with GDDR3?
I did. When I got it back from Rma, I didnt notice the box, i paid more attention to puttin it back in my system so I could be playin again. Last night I noticed it said "128mb DDR3" on the box. So today, I found a program to determine specifications and sure enough, I've got GDDR3 memory. I guess that explains why I can get it up to 350/950. Just curious, did anyone else get GDDR3 on there 6800nu?

Anyone else getting MORE than 24 hrs on their rentals?
Just as the subject says, I was wondering if anyone else getting more than 24 hrs on their rentals? So far I have gotten to play my rented movie for over 24 hours. I checked and the file is still on my hard drive. I assume I am not continuing to pay for this movie, but who knows?
It happened to us with the only movie we've rented so far. I had been fooling around with the iMac remote trying to figure out why I couldn't start the movie with that, when iTunes crashed (a first for me!!). So the next day when I discovered the countdown timer was off, I assumed that crash must have affected the time stamp on it. The movie stayed around for at least 48 hours after we first started it, then disappeared as expected.

Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the following problem and knows a solution. I know a few friends who are also having the issue so its obviously something wrong with IOS7.
Basically I have an iphone 4 and upgraded to v7 and most recently v7.0.2. When I am on calls the phone started to beep and vibrate and sometimes change the call to speaker. It seems to be that the screen is sometimes active whilst on calls and so my ear is actually pressing the buttons and hitting numbers or changing it to speaker phone. It has also cancelled a call a few times.
This is extremely annoying and makes every call a worry.
Any ideas of how to solve this problem?I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.
