Anyone else getting a notice from FF to update video driver?

I've gotten, a couple of times, what appears to be a notice from Firefox to upgrade my video driver by downloading and running a file. I don't like to download anything unless I can guarantee where it came from. Is this really from Firefox?

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
*Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

  • Anyone else getting diabolical service from BT wit...

I have ordered BT Infinity 2 four times via the website now over the last six weeks.... Each time getting a BTVOLxxxxxx order reference. After the initial email confirmation NONE of them ever show up again. At all.
I have twice attempted to order BT Inifinity 2 over the phone, both times I was told 'there's a problem - our special people who do orders need to talk to you. They will call you in five working days"
I have complained via the on-line complaints panels - got reference numbers and eveyrthing... Absolutely heard nothing back at all....
I have phoned to chase the order(s), been put on hold, been disconnected, been transferred more times than a spanish striker, but never actually got through to anyone that can actually do anything.
Has anyone else had this? Is it part of some special ritual that all seasoned Infinity customers have already gone through and I've just not seen the light yet?
    Jono

Your not on your own! I've been trying to order a new line, phone and infinity for our new build home for the last 3 weeks. I must have spoke to at least 15 different people, only to be told the same scripted lines! the problem is as its a new build they have no record of our address and postcode on there database and we have FTTP installed and no copper phone line at all, which seems to blow the sales peoples minds, all I keep getting told is I have to order a standard phone line before they can give me a speed estimate! which would be impossible where we live!
Whether there's a special fibre team I need to speak to or not I have no idea! but I cant find a number if there is!
I've finally give up now and will probably end up ordering the wireless option that's available in our area!
    What a nightmare....

Received a notice from an unidentified source requesting I update my Apple ID within six hours. I assume this is a phishing effort, but curious if others are receiving same message.

  • Does anyone else get text messages from 6250: VZWNMN:1  ?

I get them randomly.  I have had my Razr for about 3 months and I have received about 10 so far.

  • Anyone else getting the runaround from tech support?

Roofers knocked the wires at my house so they're in front of a window.  They still work fine, they're just ugly.  So I called Verizon to see if they could move them, offered to pay for the service if necessary.
'Travis' told me he had to tell the local office they're a hazard to get someone to come out.  I said they aren't a hazard, they're just ugly.  He replied, that's fine, it's just what we tell them.
So he goes ahead with scheduling an appointment.  After 20 minues on the phone, I ask him what' happens when a repair tech comes out and sees there's no hazard, won't they be aggravated and leave?  He says, of course, they won't even take the ladder off the truck.  Q:  What's the point of scheduling an appointment, then?  A: We have to tell them there's a hazard or the techs won't come out. Q:  So will they do anything?  A: No, not if there's no hazard. Q: So why would I want to waste my time waiting for an appointment when the tech will just turn around an leave?  A: That's how we do it.   It went on a lot longer than that, but you get the picture.
So, is Travis sup par, or is this Verizon's standard operating procedure?

I guess if the wires were hanging loose and sagging for some reason they would be a hazard and need to be fixed. Not saying to do anything, and be extremely careful if power lines are near by or involved.
If they are in front of a window they could be hazardous during a fire rescue attempt. Have them moved. If they refuse, contact the local fire department and explain your concern.

  • Anyone else get a NX6800 TD128 with GDDR3?

I did.  When I got it back from Rma, I didnt notice the box, i paid more attention to puttin it back in my system so I could be playin again. Last night I noticed it said "128mb DDR3" on the box. So today, I found a program to determine specifications and sure enough, I've got GDDR3 memory.  I guess that explains why I can get it up to 350/950. Just curious, did anyone else get GDDR3 on there 6800nu?

that´s the gift from MSI,everyone who have problem with this card, just send it to RMA headquarters and they give you DDR3.but also you can´t say everyone you get it.it´s secret.they wanna you as a potencial customer again and that is the reason.but as i now you must pay a shipment to them, but it´s still less money than the 6800 GT or ULTRA costs, and with DDR3 you can have it from this card.......very good.....i wanna problemous 6800non-u

  • Anyone else getting JavaScript TypeError - Null value?

Anyone else getting JavaScript TypeError - Null value? I get it on Amazon all the time now. Nothing seems to fix it... What's up with Safari and Java?

Java and Javascript are different. For more on their differences see:
    http://members.ozemail.com.au/~phoenix1/html/getstart.htm
That said, Javascript which fails in Safari usually is something that is non-standard since Safari makes a genuine effort to follow http://www.w3.org/ standards. If you encounter a website that doesn't follow these standards, point them to http://www.anybrowser.org/ for guidance on making more uniformly compatible websites. In the meantime there are many other web browsers made for Mac OS X like Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Omniweb, Camino, Internet Explorer, Opera, and iCab. If you find a website that doesn't behave well in Safari, use the Report bug to Apple in the Safari menu. There is a Safari Enhancer which has a User Agent submenu in the Debug menu it enables. That same Debug menu can be enabled from Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal via this command line:
    defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1
The User Agent specified will spoof certain websites into thinking you are using a different web browser. In the end though, it usually is better to inform webmasters when their website is not accessible.

  • Anyone else getting a timed out error message when trying to check for updates via the app store software on a desktop?

anyone else getting a timed out error message when trying to check for updates via the app store software on a desktop?

Hi, couple of things to try...
    Anonymous
Post subject: NSURLErrorDomain error -1100 in OS X 10.8
If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile

I was recently trying to upgrade to mountain lion through the app store.  I have unreliable Internet from a cable company whom I will not name, but we all know who they are.  My Internet dropped while downloading the upgrade.  Once I went through the notorious unplug the modem/router and plugged it back in to gain Internet connectivity again, I could not resume. No matter what I did, the app store kept displaying "an error occurred." I am hoping that those with the same issue read this first to save them hours of skimming through the Internet to find a solution.  Here are the steps to take:
    1. Make sure you have reestablished Internet connection
    2. Chances are you got frustrated when you tried to resume/unpause the download and clicked the "X" to the left.  If so, select the "Store" drop-down menu from the App Store and select "View My Account." There should be an option to unhide your purchase.  You know what to do.
    3. There is also an option to  reset all warnings for buying and downloading under "View My Account." Do this, click "Done," sign out of the App Store and quit the App Store.
    4. Open the Preferences in safari and select Privacy.  Select "Remove All Website Data."  Just do it.
    5. Launch the app store and sign in.
    6. Now, if you "Check for Unfinished Downloads" everything works peachy.
I hope this helps.  Not much I can do for your Internet connection though.

  • Did Anyone Else Get 5.5.3 update?

    RESOLVED.
Airport just updated to 5.5.3 while I was out and my girlfriend was using the Mac. Did anyone else get this update?
    Message was edited by: EpicCurious

Yes, just did and updated without a hitch. I did notice that the AirPort Utility now correctly distinguishes between the generations of the AirPort Extreme ... correctly identifying that I have both a 3rd & 4th generation models. I assume, at this time, it will do the same for the Time Capsule.

As I understand it, you would need to go back before Mavericks. Such as, wipe your Mac and install a clone of your old Snow Leopard installation. Make sure the old iWork apps were installed and upgrade to Mavericks.
What occurred when I upgraded from Mt Lion to Mavericks, is the MAS detected my installed iWork '09 apps, alerted me to available updates and presented the Mavericks versions of iWork in the Purchases pane for me to accept into my account. After I accepted them into my account, it then proceeded to install the Mavericks versions in the Apps folder and at the same time sequestered my previously installed iWork '09 apps in a folder in the Apps folder named iWork '09. Later, when I upgraded to OS X Yosemite, the MAS alerted me to upgrades for the Mavericks iWork apps and updated them to the Yosemite versions.
