Anyone else have half their screen go dark?

I've had my 27" iMac since May (bought refurbished from Apple.com), which had some yellowing and backlight issues, but I decided to just deal with it based on all the horror stories I've heard about going through a half dozen returns. But in the past few weeks, my iMac's screen began flickering every so often and dimming on the left side of the screen at random intervals.
Finally, today, half my screen went dark and it's not changing:

I don't have AppleCare, but I hope the standard one-year warranty covers this.

My monitor started flickering this morning and by afternoon, the bottom half of my screen went gray or darker than the top half. I have an early 2008 model 20" iMac. I guess my computer is starting to go bad. My DVD drive stopped working correctly a couple of months ago as well. I can't burn DVD's anymore; keep getting error messages. My guess is that the heat generated on the iMac must shorten the lifespan of all the components inside, considering they are all so close to each other. If you've ever touched the top of your iMac, you'll understand what I'm talking about, as it gets extremely hot up there. Imagine what it must be like inside. This is my first iMac and will probably be my last. I paid too much for my computer to last such a short time. I like the compactness of it, but it's not worth the cost. All-in-on units make it more difficult to fix and more costly to fix as well.

Did anyone else have all their wireless airport relay base stations suddenly reset at 4:30 PM August 5 2013? I had four base stations at my house reset simultaneously at 4:30.

At 4:30 PM today all of my secondary base stations simltaneously reset and lost connection. I am wondering what might have caused this. All of my eithernet connected stations remained green and connected but the relay stations sudenly lost any recognition for the network and required a restart to find one another angain. I will occasionally have one go off the reservation but all at exactely teh same time gives me pause to consider a bug.

I have the same proble, I posted my question but still nobody answers me yet. If you get to kknow something please let me know

Anyone else have their iPad hijacked? Didn't think it was possible, but I have video of my iPad typing, opening apps, and attempting purchases by itself. I turned off the wifi and it still kept going. Not sure if they were connected to Bluetooth or not because every time I tried to go into settings they would close the window. I ended up just shutting the whole thing down. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them?

Ghost typing is what you are seeing and I have seen some other people talking about it. You weren't hijacked, there is a problem with your iPad. Or this is the first "documented" case on an iDevice being hijacked.
Do you have a screen protector on the iPad? If so, does it need to be cleaned?

Thanks, yes, I have a problem. My Wifi shut down. Phone wont let me turn it back on, even thought I never executed a manuel effort to turn it off. Here's a screen shot. Notice no other text under the toggle advising me to about being near a network? It's like the phone recognizes the "antenna" has stopped working. I did perform a reset and several power off-on's. Can't get it to work. Thanks for feedback!

Ebooks, half the books I have bought have complete sections or chapters missing. Does anyone else have this problem or am I doing something wrong in the downloading of them

Half the ebooks I have bought from iTunes have large sections or complete chapters missing from them which is beginning to seriously irritate. Does anyone else have this problem or it is something to do with the downloading. In which case does anyone have an answer?

You should be able to delete and redownload them via the bookshelf in the iBooks app : tap the Edit button top right of the shelf, select and delete the books, then go into the Store via the button top left of the bookshelf, and in the Purchased tab (bottom right of the store) find and re-download the books.
If they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those books and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Thansk for the reply King_Penguin...let me elaborate and see what you think...I had the ipad2 in the office and saw the battery was getting really low. I tried charging it with the iphone charger (connects to my pc at work). It took a while, but it got enough juice in the ipad2 to bring it back to life. when I got home, I hooked it up, and got to about 50%. All was fine, then I was attempting to hook it up to my TV with the AV adapter (or VGA adapter, whatever it is), left the ipad alone for a minute, came back to it, and that's when it went dark. I tried the home/sleep buttons, but only for about 5 seconds...any other suggestions in case that doesn't work? Thanks again...

Hi, i had the exact same problem and a searched google for any suggestions. In the end I just very gently scratched it off.

I have been researching the exchange message loss problem on other forums, but not seen a link to browser as yet. The message loss problem we have here is in a 32bit PB.
