Anyone else order from AT&T yet?

I ordered mine, and they said delivery occurs 7-10 days.
Did anyone else get different results?

Anyone else order Missing Manual v4 direct from oreilly site?

I preordered a copy of the version 4 Missing Manual from oreilly.com (which said estimated date October 2005) in hopes of receiving it as soon as possible. I have students who have purchased v4, so I am anxious to have the book in order to better assist them.
Currently I am unable to get an estimated ship date from the oreilly customer support; my response from them used vague words like waiting for replenishment of stock. So I am wondering if anyone else ordered direct from oreilly and what their experience is?

Thought that I would come back to this thread and post that my Missing Manual for Elements 4 has just arrived.
As an aside, I will also mention that the tracking at the oreilly site was never updated to show progress of my order. This was a very frustrating ordering experience, but at least the book finally arrived.
Yesterday someone posted that she had received this book from Amazon, so it seems that multiple sources are starting to ship.

My friend at work was smitten with my iPhone and ordered one online, it says an estimated 2-4 week ship. Did anyone else order one online and get any different information from apple on maybe getting them sooner?

This is bizarre. I also ordered mine on Friday night. And I got an email from Apple stated that it was going to ship on the 13th (Friday the 13th!). However, some people who ordered on the same day, their iphones are shipping on the 6th. Oh well, I've waited six months, another couple of weeks aren't going to kill me. Maybe by that time, AT&T would have resolved the activation problems.

Did anyone else order a Zen MP3 Player from Dell and not receive key piec

I ordered my Creative Zen Vision M on Monday from Dell and received it today sans the power adapter and Quick Start Guide. Has this happened to anyone else? I had to spend 30 minutes on the phone with Dell only to have them send me here.

I've just looked at the US Dell site and it lists a power adaptor there so I would say it's down to them to provide one. In the UK we have a Sale of Goods Act we can call on in these situations.
I would get a copy of the Dell web page for the Vision: M you bought and then phone them up to see what they will do about it.
I still reckon it's Dell's problem, not Creative's. After all, it's Dell who said the power adaptor should be included not Creative as there web site doesn't list it. The reason it's in the manual is the one I gave above about Creative reducing the package contents after a while to cut the cost and make it more competiti've.
I had a similar problem with a V200 I bought in the UK but from a French-owned retailer. The website said it would have a case and armband and it didn't - when I went back to the website the description had been changed so I didn't get anywhere.

Anyone else checked their financial reports yet? Mine are all wrong?!

Hi everyone...
the first finacial reports are coming in and I had a quick look at them.
In my reports the total units sold just don't add up to the units previously reported. There is a gap of 10-30% missing units How can this be?
Furthermore, the report for Europe lists all the same countries as the "rest of world" like Russia and Croatia...
This seems like it's going totally wrong here...
Anyone else who can confirm this?

this sounds like a good point. I've never thought of that! To me, this sounds pretty plausible...
As for the hard copy invoices: I received an e-mail today that we in fact have to send a paper invoice. It was no mistake or joke. Got something to do with tax-regulation inside the EC. Here's the text from my e-mail:

Anyone else suffering from old emails suddenly reappearing in mailbox?

I seem to be suffering with old emails ( up to 6months old ) reappearing in the mailbox as unread. They seem to be re-downloading from the server not just becoming unread in mailbox.
Anyone else having this problem and anyone got a solution to stop it happening? 168 emails arrived today but are listing by original date received so i have to troll through mailboxes to delete again.!!

The forwarding of mail from external mail ( gmail etc ) are setup in those accounts so that they just arrive into mobile me account. The mobile me account is then imap and received by iphone, ipad and laptop as if from just one account. there is nothing in the mobile me settings except standard mail settings. ie no forwarding no rules etc.
If i do the remove the account folder is there any chance this will loose any emails? i have a lot of info that i need to keep.
Regarding the envelope index comment i have no idea what that is so the answer would be no on that one !!

Anyone else suffering from slow speeds tonight?

Hi guys,
Tonight is a weird one, I've never experienced slowdowns as much as this on my 8,128kbps sync.
Seems I am only getting around 100KB/s speeds tonight and when I took the speedtest earlier, it came back with 643kbps throughput!
The slowest I usually get is around 340KB/s in peak time. I'm on (until today if it is congested) an uncongested exchange - around 1,500 lines.
Anyone else getting speed issues tonight?

Just wondering I ordered through AT&T.com since it was the only place I could get through. I seen other people are getting cancellations on from both sources and now people are getting shipping info from apple. Didn't see anyone from AT&T was just curious. Thanks

Anyone taken damage from software patenting yet?

Not specifically a Java question but there's an attempt to spread the dangerous absurdity of software patents to the European Union (In the teeth of the European parliament by the way).
I wonder if any of our American programmers have been hit by this yet? Patents have already been granted on things that were trivial (Amazon's one touch ordering) and things that were essentially in the public domain (the GIF format). The intention is clearly to create a state of being where a software company needs two lawyers for every programmer and, hence, the big guys don't have competition from the little guys.

The entire Euro software patent debacle shows how democratic the EU really is.
The EP overturned the plans presented to them for approval, making major changes which effectively made the plans worthless.
Then the EC (which is not an elected body at all, mind) decided to ignore the EP completely and go ahead with an even broader version of the original plan that which was sent to the EP for approval in the first place.
Under that plan, individual lines of code could be patentable.
Quite in contrast to the scaremongering of the open source community, it will likely be large companies suffering the most.
As in the US most patents will be held by specialist companies who have no interest in using the patent in a product, they use the patent as a product to extort money from other companies.
As small companies don't have a lot of money, they tend to go after the big fish instead.
Prime example is the case about browser plugins which Microsoft lost last year. The company holding the patent has no software of its own, they purchased the patent from the bankruptcy of another company that held the patent but didn't enforce it.
They went after Microsoft only as soon as they got the patent to their name. Even after winning that case they didn't go after Mozilla, Netscape, Opera or any other browser manufacturer despite all of them using the same plugin architecture.
The reason is simply that there's no money to be made from small fry...

Just curious if that will slow down my order. I'm not all hyper about when I get it like others are on here, but I'm just curious.
Seems like if they can just slap a label on the box and send it out, those will get thier orders faster than people like me that will have to be reboxed because I ordered a car charger with mine.
Either way, I hope those warehouse employees get a bonus or something for what they'll be dealing with in the next week or so.

so when 3am rolled around and the site kepts saying error and all the other **bleep** i decided to go to the apple site and im glad i did. the process was fast and it only took a few minutes. the site wasnt slow either so that helped. so who else ordered from apple?

yeah i got the same thing from apple regarding my order but atleast its ordered and all i have to do is wait. yeah im glad i didnt wait to order from verizon cause i jumped on the apple site and maybe 5 mins later( at the least) i was in bed haha
