Anyone else unable to post gift cards or purchase from istore?

System says due to a problem my credit balance is unavailable. Will not let me purchase or post gift cards received to my account... Is this a general problem?

Same here, cards won't work and no one is answering the phone at Apple. I'm just returning the iPod and the card. I'm sick of Apple stuff that doesn't work. Best of luck to the rest of you.

Any one else seeing this? I can buy music and TV shows but when I try to rent a movie it says itunes connection problem please try later. But I don't see anyone else complaining so I figure I must be unique but highly doubt it. Memorial Day weekend and would love to sit back and rent some movies. iTunes store doesn't seem to have a way to notify of issues either.

Odd, the same thing happened to me last night when trying to rent "The Orphanage." But I was able to rent "There Will Be Blood."

I Received a gift card from USA. While attempting do download I am getting a error message state that " this code is valid for customers of USA only"
please tell tell me alternative way to download it.

If the gift card was purchased from the iTunes USA Store, it is only valid for a recipient who has a valid account in the iTunes USA Store and is physically in the USA at the time they use it.

Since BT have changed their web browser and email log on, I'm experiencing problems. I have a PC, laptop, chrome book and iPad. Both my wife and I have trouble logging in after entering our user names and passwords on all systems. Click on the 'Log into email' button and not a thing happens. Eventually, after closing the browser several times, it will eventually work. Now if I log in via 'Windows Live Mail' it logs in every time. Now would you agree that there must be a problem with BT's new and supposedly better program. Only BT technical desk in Mumbai doesn't seem to agree! They also don't appear to know what their browser and email log in pages look like!

either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions.
I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.
I had to change the primary mail of that account.
I was told "no can do" by skype support.
I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).
Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address.
once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account.
What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else?

and I need to point out that you are incorrect. I WAS NOT OPERATING ON DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS I WAS OPERATING ON ONE SKYPE ACCOUNT, THAT WAS CREATED USING A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT just like you say you recommend. I still don't know how you can misread my initial entry like that.
If you have a better solution to my initial problem - changing the primary mail of a skype account created throuth either a microsoft account or a facebook account, Please write a sticky to explain how to do it, and please inform skype support that Yes it can be done, and this is the way it is done. So far my "lucky shot" seems to be the only way to do it.

Does any balance show on your account ? My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my iOS devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Store and it should show on the screen that you are taken to).
You can check your account's purchase history via your computer's iTunes : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

Even tho iTunes is asking to confirm your credit card details, when you purchase something it will still draw from your iTunes balance first. I think it is just a security check to ensure no one else is using your account.
This happened to me a couple of days ago but i simply conformed my details and entered my card security code then itunes took the payment from my account balance.

I thought So too but then I went to Itunes Library and try and buy a single song from an album for $1.29. Now my Itunes Gift card balance is $ 7.10 as I mentioned earlier. it still did not let me buy and kept trying billing my Visa card.

Hello. I have tried to use my visa gift card to purchase something from apple. However, the security code is not present, which I am aware of. When I typed in the correct security code, I discovered that there was not enough money in the card to complete the purchase anyway. Now, whenever I attempt to update my applications on my iPhone 3Gs, I am directed to the billing information from the previous purchase that did not work. How do I cancel the purchase and continue to update my applications?

This happens for some apps. If you have a computer try to buy on it. Otherwise you will have to enter a credit card or some from of billing.

No idea, but it seems like you should be able to. You can give it a try, but will have to figure out some way around the automatic 1-click ordering that the App Store now does by default.

To use an iTune Gift Card to buy books...
Open iTunes on your computer and click on the iTunes Store.
You'll need to be signed in...
Click on the little House icon in the dark gray bar across the top. (or Shift+Command+H)
On the right side of the page under Quick Links click Redeem and enter your code.
Then it will show your credit balance in the dark gray bar across the top next to your account name to let you know how much you have to spend.
Then as you buy books, it'll deduct from the credit balanace.
There is a distinction between, iTunes Gift Card and Apple Gift Card.
Apple Gift Card: can be used to purchase Apple hardware and accessories at any Apple Retail Store, the Apple Online Store...
iTunes Gift Card: To give music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, or anything on the iTunes Store, the App Store, the iBooks Store or the Mac App Store, select an iTunes Gift Card

No, Apple Online Store is a different family from the MAS. You can use it on the iTunes Store though.
