Anyone else want audible alert for new emails?

Love the new Mail app but how about an audible alert for new emails. Not sure why that isn't included.

If your email provider supports Push email, then you will get audible email notifications automatically. Otherwise, email is only checked when you open the email app.
If you have Fetch New Data set to automatically check every 15, 30, or 60 minutes then you will also get the tone when the system checks for mail and finds mail available.  If you set Fetch New Data to Manually then you will only get the email checked when you open the Mail app.

  • How to set up a visual "alert" for new emails received on the Iphone 4s

Finally converted from a blackberry to iphone 4s.  i have numerous email addresses.  On my old B berry, a red star would appear on each of my email addresses.  This notified me that there was a new message in my inbox for each particular address.  This was helpful since I didn't have to waste time opening each inbox to see if there were any new messages.
I have checked everywhere in the settings on the Iphone (even my kids can't find it).  When i'm in the Mailbox screen and looking at about 10 email addresses, it would help to have a check mark, bold lettering or something to indicate when a new email is received to a particular address.  If the BB had it, the Iphone should have it.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying here. Are you saying you do not like checking the All Inboxes? Once you go to the Mail app, you get a list of each one of the individual account mailboxes with included numbers for the amount of new mail you have for each account, unless you have something not set up correctly. Each time mail comes in for an individual account you get notified, it is just that the badge will not say 1 for this account, 3 for that account for example. If you received the mail I use for the example, you get a 4 in the All Inboxes, and then the individual numbers for each accounts inbox. Does that answer your question/concern?

  • My iPad no longer sounds an alert for new email.  Has anyone had this problem?

I have used to get a bell sound when new mail came into my mailbox, but it no longer sounds even though I have the settings showing a new mail sound.

If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Audible Alert for one IMAP Email (security alert)?

i tried a search for this and i assume i know the answer but i am hoping perhaps someone has a workaround.
i have set up vitamin D (so far it is pretty fantastic on the demo) which allows me to get an email alert when there is activity/motion in front of my integrated iSight. i am about to set up something more sophisticate which I assume also allows for an alert via email (not sure if it allows for a text message alert or not).
is there some way to get an AUDIBLE alert for one email account? i would really like to be able to be alerted in some way that there way activity for security reasons but i really don't want to be a slave to checking my email every time something comes in.
    any ideas?
    THANKS

You can't set a different notification sound for each family member but If you designate the people that you want notifications from as VIP, I think it might be possible to get notifications from family members only.
Launch mail and tap the blue  "I" in the VIP section. Tap "Add VIP" in order to add the family members to the VIP list that you want to include. Then tap "VIP Alert" to automatically go to the notifications area of the settings app. Set you preferences in there for the family members. Then go to Settings>Notitication Center and turn off the audible notifications for all other mail.
The setting states that whatever you set for VIP alerts will override the other mail alerts, so I am taking that to mean that what I am suggesting is possible to do.

Anyone else want to file a lawsuit against Verizon for fraud?
    Wrongful billing?
Lied to about you plan, discount?
    Lied to about your phone?
Ever have a emergency call dropped?

At places where I live where something like this might be need all they offer is 3G 20 GB plan. Kind of useless. I can get the 4G 20 GB plan at my address, but not the unlimited plan. Doesn't matter since I can get 30 Mbps from Charter with a 250 GB cap for $50 a month anyway. Speaking of  their "unlimited" plan. I love how "unlimited" is actually 50 GB. Talk about false advertising.
My account is unlimited so why is there an issue if I go over 50GB?
Per the Millenicom Terms of Service you agreed to upon sign-up, the unlimited service is for personal and family use and is not to be used for commercial purposes or as a public WiFi or broadcast to multi-dwelling units or any other extraordinary circumstance. Usage over 50 gigabytes in one month is not considered personal and family use and will alert our investigative team.
Really? 50 GB is just 20 minutes of Netflix a day. I can't even remember the last time we used under 50 GB a month. Just 19 days into the month and we are at 67 GB and that's a low month for us.

  • Is there a way to still get audible alerts of new messages without having any banners or text appear in the lock screen?

I'm trying to make sure I am doing this correctly.  How do you set up alerts for both text messages and iMessages so that even when the phone is locked you will still get an audible or vibration alert as soon as the message is received?  And is there a way to do this without having any text appear on the lock screen that shows who the message is from.  My phone stays in locked mode most of the time but I still want to recieve alerts for new messages as soon as they arrive.  I'm also concerned about privacy so I don't want any text or preview or even any information about the sender to appear on the lock screen.  I just want a vibration or audible alert.

Open the Settings app > Notifications > Messages. Scroll down adn turn OFF "View In Lock Screen". You may want to consider setting Alert style to none, but this will not impact what happens when the screen is locked.

  • Different mail alerts for each email account

Just got the new Verizon iPhone. Used BlackBerry for years. One feature of the BB that I think is missing from the iPhone is the ability to set different mail alerts for each email account. For instance, I would like to turn off alerts for my corporate Exchange account (for which I get 100 emails a day), but receive alerts for my Comcast and Gmail accounts.
Am I correct that there is only one on or off feature for the iPhone for all accounts?

That turns the account off for receiving mail as you provided, which I'm fairly certain the OP is not interested in.
The OP wants to be able to turn the new mail alert sound off for one account while leaving it on for another account while all accounts are still checked for new messages.

  • Two e-mail accounts, only want audible notification for one of them

I have two e-mail accounts, account A is my corporate e-mail account, account B is the account I setup for blackberry.net ([email protected]).  I have been trying without success to setup different alerts for different e-mail accounts.  Basically, I want to turn on audible alerts for account B only, so that I can use the Blackberry as a paging device, only distributing that e-mail account for on-call paging.
Could someone please tell me if that's possible?  At one time, I had alerting turned on, but it was for every e-mail, including corporate e-mail, so that was pretty much useless for my purposes.
NOTE: I have already tried bbalerts.  As far as I can tell, it only alerts for Subject: and From: lines, not the To: line.

Did you change the volume setting as well?
It should be something like this for the settings:
    Out of Holster: Tone
    Ring Tone: (choose one)
Volume: (set to anything other than mute)
Make sure to save the settings.
The "in holster" settings are for when the phone is inside the leather holster usually provided with the phone. The holster has a magnet that, when it is detected by the phone, powers down the screen and locks the keyboard to save battery life.
Do a battery pull once you are done:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • Samsung note 3 is not giving audible alerts for all my text messages since the 4.4.4 update.

Samsung note 3 is not giving audible alerts for all my text messages since the 4.4.4 update.  I get an audible tone about 3/4 of the time.  Thinking a conversation is over I come back 45 minutes later to find another text I didn't know came in.  I've restarted my phone and checked my message settings.   Any ideas?  Factory reset is not an option!

I'd try going back into the Text Message settings. In Sound setting, work the setting from None to an alert. Then in Vibrate put a check in the box then uncheck. Just to see if that will free it up, could be a possible corruption with the new software update?
