Anyone familiar with "The Standby Wizard for Oracle "

Is anyone familiar with "The Standby Wizard for Oracle " by Relational Database Consultants, Inc?
It is a GUI app that supposedly simplifies and automates the creation, maintenance, and switchback functions necessary to implement Oracle's standby database paradigm for high-availability.
I have a very small IT shop and simplification with data protection is important to me.
I'd like to read anyones thoughts if you have such.

Hi
I never used this tool. However it is important that you have the right infrastructure, too. A standby database wrong implemented is useless. You can try to call a consult in near you to implement the dataguard.
Does Relational Database Consultants has a documentation about the product?
Bye, Aron

  • Anybody familiar with the TUNE TRANSFER for Ipod program?

    This software product was created by Valu-Soft. It was designed to recover music files from iPod to a NEW PC. However, it appears that this program does not work with a PC that has already iTunes library. Are there any shortcuts or commands to circumvent this condition?

    Well... it isn't really a data format. A device driver (which includes a printer driver) provides a number of callbacks which correspond to the graphical calls made by a printing program. (At least, that's how it was when I looked into it a very long time ago). A driver might be asked to draw lines or boxes, to output text with particular fonts and attributes, or to accept a variety of raster graphics. This is something for an experienced programmer, or team, already very familiar with Windows graphic models such as GDI: device drivers are not easy to develop or debug, and because they run with special privileges; bugs in them have the potential to completely crash the system (blue screen of death) (although I read of something called "user mode drivers" which might be safer).
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/gg463348.aspx is a place where some of this seems to be discussed. I don't know whether you have to sign up with Microsoft. You might, because recent OSs will only install signed drivers.
    Updated: if you still want to make a PDF, this is an enormous task, so big that Adobe dropped the two drivers they once had. Adobe don't even write the Adobe PDF driver. Rather, they use the operating system's PostScript driver, then convert PostScript to PDF using Distiller, a tool they conveniently already had. Adobe provide what I think is called a "print monitor" (?) that takes the output from the driver once it is fully formatted. If you can process PostScript you could do the same. (Note: a PostScript interpreter from scratch is a considerably larger task than a print driver, so that isn't an easy option; look at 5-10 person years if the people are sufficiently skilled).

  • Anyone Familiar with Mobile TV Elite for iPad

    The only info I seem to be able to find online are sales pitches.
    My hubby just downloaded it to watch the NASCAR race today and is having issues finding the correct channel.  Everything I can find says it should be on there, but he can't seem to get it to work.
    Any help?

    The Pioneer 9G Elite series is still considered to be the best TV in the industry. Look at all the reviews across the web, and the Elite is the tops. The Panasonic G10 comes close as does the Sony XBR8.
    One of the reasons that Pioneer left the plasma business was that the average consumer wasn't willing to spend upwards of $4,500 for a 50" set and the costs associated to manufacture each panel were too high to justify Pioneer from continuing their plasma line. The Elite line obviously catered to the niche ultra high-end video and audiophile and custom installer.
    Whether Panasonic will incorporate the "Kuro" technology time will tell. Pioneer will continue to support their products so purchasing one shouldn't scare you.
    I snagged the 50" Elite from BB last week and going to have it professionally ISF calibrated. I've always been a Sony guy and also considered the XBR8 series but could not justify Sony's price markup and for me, the picture quality wasn't representative of actual real world images even after fiddling with the controls. I'm obviously biased and it's personal taste, but head over the AVS forums and you'll see that the Elite is still regarded as the king. I waited for 10 months before purchasing the Elite and extremely glad I held out till now as you can get a $4500 TV for almost half that price.

  • Problems with the Setup Wizard for WRT54GC

    Hi…
    I just bought a WRT54GC router and while trying to install it I had some problems.
    I opened the Setup Wizard on the CD to install the router.
    When I reach step 6 the internet connection is being checked with the following result: “Unable to detect the internet connection. Please check your cable connections”.
    I’ve checked all the cables and everything is okay – I’m also able to access the internet which shows me that all cables are correctly connected.
    So why do I get this message?
    What do I have to do?
    The problem is that I’m not able to continue the Setup Wizard further than step 6.
    Thanks!

    well..if you have an internet connection through the router and the CD setup shows “Unable to detect the internet connection. Please check your cable connections”. I would recommend you to neglect it....discard the CD and configure the router manually
    you can access the router from the wired computer using http://192.168.1.1 .. the default password is admin

  • Anyone familiar with the C language????

    hey guys
    well ill give it a try. see if anyone here can help me. i need to input an integer and then convert it to a binary representation. size of the integer is 16 bits. can anyone help??? eg:
    user input : 27
    program output: 0000000000011011
    would appreciate if anyone could help
    cheers
    milos

    How about:
        public String getBits (int i) {
            String bits = "";
            for (int b = 0; b < 16; b ++, i >>= 1)
                bits = (((i & 1) == 1) ? '1' : '0') + bits;
            return bits;
        };You said you only need 16 bits, and that way should keep the bits in the right order, too (most significant on left).
    In C/C++, a fast way to do that would be:
        char *getBits (unsigned int i, char *buf) {
            char *b = buf + 16;
            *b = 0;
            for (int j = 0; j < 16; j ++, i >>= 1)
                *(--b) = ((i & 1) + '0');
            return buf;
        };Doesn't matter if int is unsigned or not (except from the standpoint of you preventing the programmer from accidently passing a negative number), since your only getting the low 16 bits, and arithmetic right shifts won't affect this anyway. Didn't test that, hopefully it works. Yeah, sure its unsafe, but only if buf isn't at least 17 bytes.

  • Anyone familiar with the Mybook external hard drive?

    I'm looking into buying an external hard drive, primarily to house my media: photos, music, shorts, etc. A friend of mine recommended Western Digital's Mybook, especially since I don't need much space (their 80 or 120 gig models sound ideal). I was just wondering if anyone here has used one. Thanks.

    This is usually a bad idea since solaris makes links in /dev that point to configured devices. A failsafe boot will probably work though. If you really wanted to reconfigure the drive to work on another machine, follow this:

    I don't think any of this really has changed...

  • Performance problems using WLS6.1 with the thin driver for Ora9i from OTN

    Hello everyone,
    Has anyone been experimenting with the thin driver for Oracle 9i under WLS6.1. I got it running, but
    I get extremely bad performance when having multiple concurrent accesses. It works more or less in
    single user mode. Also it seems not to support XA transactions?
    When could we expect the driver from BEA to be out?

    I had done this from the very beginning, but I was still getting very bad performance under
    concurrent accesses. I even followed Sree's instructions and removed the old thin driver from
    weblogic.jar, but this didn't help. I am now trying to get the OCI driver for 9i running and hope
    this will solve the problem.

    I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are.This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. You may have all the time in the world to try figuring out stuff but we are not all like you. We all have different schedules and different levels of understanding. And that is what this forum is for - to help people move forward. If you can't contribute positively then keep silent. Hi, I'm currently browsing the web looking for a case that is compatible with the smart cover for the iPad 2. If anyone has any suggestions I would be glad to read all opinions! Thanks!

    I love the Smart Cover. It fits the way I work and I love the instant on/off and the always available screen protection. I wouldn't use my iPad without it.
    I got a Cover Buddy for the back, because I wanted the back to be less slippery when I'm using the iPad in the classroom, teaching. I picked this back cover because it's VERY lightweight, easy to get on or off and, protects the corners, has accurate cutouts for the ports, and (in the colors) has a rubberized surface:
    http://www.switcheasy.com/products/CoverBuddy/
    I have a Built NY "hoody" slip on case with a hard internal shell that I use when I'm in the field and I can put the iPad with the Smart Cover and the Cover Buddy inside this . But for everyday use, the Smart Cover with the Cover Buddy is a terrific combination.

    Thanks for your offer to help.  I don't really need assistance in figuring out how to communicate with the device in LabVIEW at a transport layer.  I'm just trying to take inventory on what's already been done, at a messaging protocol level, that could be useful as a reference or starting point.
