Anyone got an MBA in Canada yet?

No retailers out here in Vancouver seem to have it. Just curious whether anyone has seen one in a store in Canada, or received one by mail.

Not sure about about store status in Quebec (There is at least one in Montreal), but a collegue just received his 1.8/SSD he ordered on the Online Store (Canada) the the 15th of January).
Same for family in Germany - 1.8/SSD has shipped (to arrive on Wed). Seems like shipping is in progress most places.

Anyone got an "Out For Delivery" yet?

Just out of curiousity I called CS to inquire. Since lots of people have gotten tracking #'s and I haven't even got a "shipped" email yet.
She went to give me my tracking # and it wasn't showing up. So she checked with her "Supervisor" and said that it hasn't even left the warehouse yet. She said no one's pre-order will leave the warehouse and I should expect delivery on the 10th. I wasn't going to argue with her because that won't get my phone here any faster.
My bank account has not been charged yet, but the 3 cases I bought on ebay yesterday afternoon have cleared the account.
She promised me I do have a phone coming, so maybe the are waiting to charge my account til it ships, which is different than others I know, but whatever.
Just curious if anyone has an "Out for Delivery" yet today?

Hey LGK yes me! & it does burn! mind you i have to admit I've had about 5 crashes in logic only when rewired to LIVE 5.2 UB
and I just had to trash logic prefrence file as wouldent load! (1st time)
the CPU distrubition is not perfect (waiting.... and waiting... 10.5)
havent got reason intstalled yet
and dont forget about Universal Audio Units.... theres not too many (espcially free ones) I have a copy of NI Komplete 3 & it runs great under rosetta BUT I want it all in logic as AU plugins! where the heck is the converter hahaha
If anyone has any info on universal AUs pleeeasee let me know!!!

That was a completely false rumor, reportedly from Best Buy (though I think it was a fake, as opposed to misinformation). The RAZR crew did not get ICS starting on the 4th, and we are not yet getting it either. As a note, remember that part of the reason Verizon (and the other carriers) stagger their OTA rollouts is to not overload their servers. Therefore, it makes zero sense that they would starts rollouts of major upgrades within two days of each other.

Anyone got experience with Filemaker and Mac OSX v10.4 on a G5

I am in the transition period from PPC to Intel, and installation of Aperture. My main box is an Apple G5 DP running OSX 10.3.9 and I have the upgrade software to go to OS 10.4+ but have not yet installed it. I also have a recent Intel MacBook Pro running 10.4.9.
Problem I'm experiencing is not unusual. If I run the current OS I cant run Aperture in the G5. If I upgrade the OS I suspect I will 'leave behind' some of the other software I rely on.
My query is about one main piece of software I use - Filemaker Pro 5.5 which runs a database I created handling my analog image collection, client info, deliveries and invoices, accounts etc. It works cleanly and quickly and allows great flexiblity in preparing material for output.
I downloaded the trial of Filemaker Pro 9 and it didn't like my old database when I tried to import it into the Intel laptop, and many functions seemed to have gone awol in the conversion to the newer software.
I cant experiment with this in the G5 as Filemaker is a key management tool in my work and any complications I need to overcome will impact seriously on my work.
So my question is - anyone got any experience with Filemaker in G5's - if I go to OSX10.4 upwards on this non-Intel machine will Filemaker V5.5 still run? And if not, are there any ways around this - eg using Classic environment?

On OSX 10.6.8 Mac Mail sent items do not show the Bcc field. Adjusting settings in mail/prefs/viewing/custom/bcc has no affect on Mail, ie Bcc still does not appear on sent items. Anyone got a fix?

My apps will not download to ipad2 this is something that has just recently happened.Have switched the pad on and off holding buttons down but it makes no difference.Has anyone got the solution to this problem Thank you.

If all of that stuff checks out - and iTunes is telling you that the apps have been downloaded to the iPad - try this.
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Right click on your iPad name on the left side of iTunes under devices and select Transfer Purchases from the pop up menu. Then sync with iTunes again. Don't eject the iPad yet. If you still don't see the apps on the iPad - click on the Apps Tab in the iTunes window on the right and see if they show up on any of the iPad screens. If they do - make sure that all of the apps are selected (checked) to sync - (checkmarks in the boxes next to the app names) - check to make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked and as well and then sync again. You may have to click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes if the apps were not selected to sync.

We have a urgent need to get iFS running in a Servlet 2.2 container and OC4J does not support iFS yet. I know this is not supported but has anyone got iFS working in Tomcat ? If so, pls do me a BIG favour by letting me have your config files, such as
- server.xml
- <tomcat home>\conf\web.xml
- web.xml for the tomcat context)
- wrapper.properties (if you are using tomcat as an NT service)
- tomcat-apache.conf (or equivalent)
- <oracle home>/apache/apache/conf/httd.conf
- A listing of relevant environment variables (by doing a "set>env.lis" or similar)
- and any other files you might think is relevant

files, I finally got the iFS up and running on my test machine.
Briefly here's what I did:
1) create application directories

One hint on libraries: Tomcat will ignore ZIP files, you have to
use JAR. I renamed Oracle's classes12.zip to classes12.jar for
that reason.
5) Create settings.jar
This was the most tricky part. I packed everything under
ifs_home/settings into the file settings.zip, renamed this to
settings.jar and moved it to the WEB-INF/lib directory. Seems a
bit of a kludge to me, anyone with a better solution is welcome.
6) Start tomcat
7) try http://yourtomcathost:8080/ifs/files/index.html
You should see the ifs login screen then.
One word about the application environment. In this
configuration every user class has to go into
<tomcat_home>/ifs/files/WEB-INF/classes, the
ifs_home/user_classes is of no use here. And don't try to set
the classpath within catalina.bat, tomcat will completely ignore
this setting.
Finally, I know that this environment is not supported but as
long as the iFS servlet meets the standards, every standard
compliant servlet engine should do the job.

Opera 6 and signed applets - Anyone got it to work ?

im facing the problem that with the new Opera 6, the java plugin is no longer used. Instead Opera uses the default JRE installed on the machine. However, when i load a signed jar in Opera 6 there is NO certificate dialog like "do you want to trust this applet"...it just starts the applet. For this reason, do i have to manually ask for every permission ?
Try this http://java.sun.com/security/signExample12/signedPluginEx.html demo, it will just throw an security exception, in any other browser (even Opera 5.12) a certificate dialog will appear first.
BTW: Anyone got the same problem with the <object> tag in opera 6, it always says Applet not found when you leave the parameter codebase="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3/jinstall-13-win32.cab#Version=1,3,0,0". If you remove it, the applet can be loaded.

Got the same problem. I've just noticed it, so I can't offer any help yet. I am using a certificate that I created myself, using keytool and I placed the policy file in the applet directory. I use the archive tag to access the jar file.
It works fine on IE6 and NN6. On opera - same problem yo got.
Now I know that opera doesn't support the archive tag, but the embed tag. So I wonder if you have tried it with embed?
Another Question: Is there anybody who has successfully installed the 1.4.1 Plugin with Netscape on a Red Hat Linux machine?

Could you please tell me how many video`s you encoded using Handbrake, 3hrs seems a long time if it was only one
I used to do a 4.5 gb video in around 30 mins on my Dual G5 2.7.
Have ordered a MacBook Pro but if it`s that slow using HandBrake then I will cancel my order.
Also are you using the Latest HandBrake which is now Universal Binary.

Has anyone bought this MBA case from Ebay?

I just got my MBA last week, and now I'm excited to buy a case for it - I was going to purchase one at my local apple store, but decided not to jump into it. I've heard that the hard cases from Speck aren't very reliable and they crack quite often as with many other hard cases.
I've been browsing Ebay and found this case:

It claims the material is not plastic, but rubberized, which to me seems much more durable. It also comes with a keyboard cover. From the photos, it also does not seem to make the MBA appear bulky, like some other cases do. All for a very affordable price..
Just wondering if anyone else has this type of case (seems like a no-name brand) and could offer an opinion (does it damage easily, does it disrupt heat ventilation etc)
