Anyone got an Otterbox Commutter Case?

I'm looking at getting one, as my PDAir case is falling apart.
I would provide a link, but the Mods don't like people doing that anymore...
Does anyone have one? Does it work ok for you?
I'm also looking to get a belt case for it, so is there one out there that will take the phone with the case on?

  • Has anyone used an Otterbox Commuter Case for the iphone 4s on an iphone 4?

I want to get a new case for my iphone 4 and have previously had an Otterbox Commuter Case which I loved due to it's dust covers for the headphone and charger sockets. I much prefer the look of the new commuter case for the 4s around the camera and flash over the one for the 4 and was wondering whether anyone had put their 4 into the 4s case?
    If so, is it ok?
Is there another similar case that has the plugs for the sockets that I'm not aware of?
    Thanks, Niki

You can put your iPhone 4 in a 4S case and it will work just fine. You shouldn't put a 4S in a 4 case (like the Otter Commuter) since the camera sensors are different.

  • ANyone got this "portfolio style" case?

Found this at Hand Held and it looks OK but the stiching seems screwed up in the photos suggesting build is sloppy--if you've got one of these please do a review? Maybe with a close up picture or two?

I wound up returning the Apple case because of its cheap build and difficulty getting the iPad in and out of it. Bought a Belkin "vue"-type case at BB for $15 less than the one on sale at the Apple store but hate slipping it in and out just to check an email or phone number. Never a good place to put the case once you have the iPad out.
I found this one at Marware, ordered it and received it in two days. Total cost of $44.99 including shipping and no tax. I'm very happy with it. Build quality is great, it's stylish and compact. A little flip-out stand on the inside makes for a good typing angle. I'm still playing with how best to watch videos on airplanes but I can generally raise it up enough to make for a good movie experience.
YMMV but this one is a keeper!

  • Has anyone noticed that the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx is not manufactured correctly?

After ordering 2 cases from Otterbox directly, and having to send both of them back, I called a Verizon store and had them compare the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx to the actual phone.  They were surprised to note that the hole for the camera on the case (to the left of the speaker) was on the opposite side of the camera on the phone (to the right of the speaker).  And, there is no hole for the camera's sensor on the Otterbox case.

Then return it to an Apple Store and complain and if neccessary get your money back

  • Otterbox commuter case with car mount?

I just got a Droid X, and I'd really like to get the Otterbox commuter case.  Does anyone know for sure whether it is compatible with a vehicle mount?  Otterbox website says no, but the rep at the VzW store says that car mounts have a removable insert that allows it to work.  I'd appreciate any info, especially the exact model of the car mount (if any) that works with the Otterbox.  Thanks!

With a little creativity and a dremel tool I was able to get the DX in the shell/holster case that Verizon sells to work. I originally had the silicone sleeve on it and it was a tight squeeze to make it work in the car dock. But me being me I wanted something that was going to add more protection for the phone and a belt clip. Took a little trial and error but now I have the best of both worlds. ..

  • Otterbox Defender case available

Has anyone purchased this case yet?
Does anyone know if Verizon will carry this case?

I just got off the phone with a rep in the local VZW store.  She didn't say for sure, but it sounded like she said she found a product code number for the Thuderbolt Otterbox Defender case in there system.  None of the stores within 100 miles had the case currently but she took my information so she could call when it does show up.
She sounded pretty confident that they would be carrying the case, and it is just a matter of time before they have it in stock.
They do care some Otterbox cases for a few of the phones they have.  All I can find on the web site are BlackBerry otterbox cases, but they do cary the brand.
I do like the Seido case, especially since it works with the extended battery, however, I like the Otterbox better because of the built in screen protector.  It offers a little better protection against the elements than the Seido case.  I can use my phone outside when it is raining without fear of rain getting down around the screen and into the phone as easily (still have to be careful of moisture regardless).
I also use the standard battery most of the time anyway.  My normal routine has me pretty close to power when I need it.  I also don't have as big of a problem with battery life as it seems many others are having.
With the standard battery I get 10 to 12 hours of standby/light to moderate use.  If I am surfing the web or using the phone more heavily the battery life drops but I generally get at least 4 to 6 hours out of it.
If I use the phone heavily that drops to around 2 to 2.5 hours but I rarely use my phone that heavily.
I have the extended battery as a backup.  I know I'll find times that I need to use that extra power and in those cases I'll simply have to strip the case off the phone and use it naked until I can get the standard battery charged back up.  I accept that as a acceptable downside of having a laptop in my pocket at all times...
And on top of it, I get a nice discount on accessories through the company I work for so the price is right in my range for the items VZW carries....

  • Iphone 5 Otterbox Defender Case...Only Black?

So they are showing an otterbox defender case for the Iphone 5 on verizons website but the only color is black, but right below the description they show part numbers for the other colors.  Any reason they are not offering the other colors yet, they are all over the otterbox site already and i get a good discount here at verizon that i would like to take advantage of.

I preordered mine from Otterbox.  They sent an email last week and I ordered immediately.  I liked the color (aqua) and I got the commuter series (I had the Defender, but it is way to bulky for me).  I think it is worth it not to deal with the hassle of a store unless you live in an area where you think there will be a good supply.  Good luck.

  • Otterbox defender case sometimes prevents touch screen operation

My Droid charge screen goes black during or at the end of a phone call and no amount of touching the screen or pushing the buttons on the phone anywhere makes any difference.  I have to take the rubber covering off and open the Otterbox case to get the screen to light back up.  Everything on the screen is exactly where it would have been without the case when I do this and I can close the phone conversation and get the phone back to the main screen, then put it all back together in the case again.  I could understand if the Otterbox screen was too thick to allow me to touch the phone pad keys on the screen, but why can't any of the external buttons override this for me?  It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make it somewhat annoying, as the phone call remains connected until I get thru the process of removing it from the case.  Someone on the other end has probably been the recipient of some carefully chosen epithets as I struggled to get the phone call disconnected from my end, I'm sure.
I'm happy with this phone, don't get me wrong, but I need to know if anyone else has had this experience and how they are dealing with it.  I have to use the phone in my construction work, so the Otterbox is also a necessity.

Has anyone else had trouble with screen sensitivity on the Otterbox Defender case for the iPhone 3GS? I've had mine on for a few days and have a hard time getting the screen to respond when I try to touch buttons on the edges of the screen.
Are you saying that removing the phone from the Otterbox solves this problem? Very strange, if so.

  • Has anyone got PPTP VPN to work on Lion Server?

Has anyone got PPTP VPN to work on Lion Server?
I had a go with the terminal commnds posted by apple support but no joy. Since then Apple has pulled the suport article - is it because it didn't work?
I get PPTP is less secure but PPTP seems to be more reliable don't know whey they can't keep as GUI. I've got them both running on our 10.4 server and L2TP stoped allowing connections for no reason PPTP was still working L2TP started working again on its own. Plus L2TP drops my connection when I connect with a 2nd device e.g connected with my Macbook connect with my iPhone (different username) it drops my Macbook.
Any advice getting PPTP to work on Lion Server would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi,
I have posted a bugreport on this issue to Apple. Currently (10.7.2) it is not possible to run PPTP on any Mac OS X Server when using a 10.7 Server as Directory Server.
I have tried 'everything', but the MPPE encryption mechanism seems to be broken.
Edit: I see now that the bugreport is filed as a duplicate to an older case, which is now closed. I hope this means they have found the problem and will release a fix in the next update.

  • What are the clustering 'gotcha's' - Anyone got a list?

We plan to implement a very high load website using
ColdFusion enterprise. Before we start coding we'd like to know
what the various 'gotchas' are, unfortunately so far all we found
in the docs and various sites are 'quick mentions' of this and that
    not working.
For example I'm aware of the applcations variables not
replicating, and the need to place all user-uploaded in a
centralized location accessible by all nodes of the cluster. But
there are many thing we don't know, for example we plan to
load-balance the webservers using NLB at first then cytrix
netscaler boxes in the longer term - and someone posted on the
documentation comments that this would break session replication.
    Is that true?
My question, are there any other 'gotchas' that will affect
the way we write code? Anyone got a list?
Any help or pointer would be greatly appreciated :D

I didn't know OS X could do such a thing!
I didn't know about it either but, apparently, the technique is common:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_link
"If one of the links is removed with the POSIX unlink function (for example, with the UNIX rm command), then the data are still accessible through any other link that remains. If all of the links are removed and no process has the file open, then the space occupied by the data is freed, allowing it to be reused in the future. This semantic allows for deleting open files without affecting the process that uses them. This technique is commonly used to ensure that temporary files are deleted automatically on program termination, including the case of abnormal termination."

  • Anyone got a pkgbuild for sarg?

or alternatively has anyone got it working on Arch?
I have just found it a pain to get it to make things in the right place.

OK, I made one, (I would say hacked, but it was more a case of banging it till it worked)
What I don't understand is which way we are supposed to be going on the devfs/udev issue.
2.6.10-rc3 does not have a menu option for devfs, so it is hidden away in the .config file I made as not set. so a couple of tries later and I fixed that by hand setting it, and the new /dev directory looks tidy, in fact very tidy compared to before.
What I want to know is what pseudo file system we should use going forward?
Or is this just a release candidate problem?
Or am I just going mad?
Incedently I am working on the bttv dvb problem, re my twinham dvb card if anyone is interested.
As a cautionary note, if you do make your own kernel and use grub I do recomend backing up your old kernel and setting a new startup option as it does save both time and ridicule from windows users.

  • I'm trying to sync Outlook calendar (office 2010?win 8) with my iphone 4s. All works well when running control panel manually but it will not run automatically after that. Anyone got any ideas

I'm trying to sync outlook calendar and contacts via icloud control panel. Everything works when control panel is run manually but it will not run automatically after that. Anyone got any ideas

I am having a very similar problem. Until 12 hours ago, I was using my recently replaced 4s (with iOS7) flawlessly, receiving emails and calendar info from Exchange (Outlook 2010). But starting last night, it all stopped. I have deleted and added the account several times, tried making simple changes (considering whether the username is case sensitive, or not, etc.) and cannot fix it. I have iOS 7.04. Interestingly, the first time I changed the case to lower case, it seemed to respond immediately, and downloaded many emails with no sender, no content, and with a 12/31/69 date. Yes, 1969. And then nothing happened. Help please!

  • I've got HPePrint App on my ipad, when I touch the photos icon the App closes, HP can't help, has anyone got an ideas for a solution?

I've got HPePrint App on my ipad, when I touch the photos icon the App closes, HP can't help, has anyone got an ideas for a solution?

Yes, you should get an email if somebody replies to a thread you started or one to which you posted. I did; that's how I knew you had replied. Check up at the top of the right column of this thread. In the "Actions" box you should find "Stop email notifications" if you are subscribed to this thread.
One step you didn't list among HP's suggestions is a compound action: delete the app, reset the iPad (by holding down the home and start buttons together for ten seconds), then reinstall the app and test it. If it still falls over, I would say the HP app has not kept up with iOS changes and needs updating -- OR your iPad has developed some persistent internal corruption in its photo storage that only the HP app trips over (in which case, the app still needs updating, but it's going to be much harder for HP to determine how).

  • My Intego Personal Spam isn't plugging in to Apple Mail and even a re-install hasn't worked - anyone got any ideas?

HI - I have a Macbook pro with OSX 10.6.8, and Intego Virus Barrier X6 and Personal Anti Spam.  The anti spam isn't working with Apple Mail and even a reinstall hasn't worked.  Anyone got any ideas?

I suggest following the steps found in the manual: Using Personal Antispam with Apple Mail and Microsoft Entourage or Outlook
When you first configured Personal Antispam, the program's Setup Assistant helped you configure your e-mail program (in your case: Apple Mail). You can run the setup assistant again by clicking General in the filter list and then clicking the Reconfigure... button.
If that doesn't work, your best bet is to contact Intego's support team. They will be able to help you better than people on these forums. Here's their contact support form: https://intego.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new
