If you are using RoboLab I would suggest posting to the Lego Mindstorms Forums as
they offer RoboLab support. The screenshot I had posted was for
LabVIEW using the Vision Development Module (VDM). The VIs that you
are missing are part of the NI-Vision software which comes packaged

I'm not affiliated w/ the developer, just a happy user that gave up fighting the apple podcast app a while ago. I used to have a bunch of smart playlists in itunes for my podcasts, and come home every day and pathologically synced my phone as soon as I walked in the door, and again before I walked out the door in the morning.
Since my wife was doing this too, we were fighting over who's turn it was to sync their phone.
Since I've switched to Downcast, I no longer worry about syncing my phone to itunes at all. I can go weeks between syncs.
Setup a "playlist" in downcast (ex., "Commute") and add podcasts to that playlist. Add another playlist ("walk" or "workout") and add different podcasts to that one.
Set podcast priorities on a per-feed basis (ex., high priority for some daily news feeds, medium priority for some favorite podcasts, lower priority for other stuff). Downcast will play the things in the priority you specify, and within that priority, it will play in date order (oldest to newest).
Allegedly, it will also sync your play status to other devices, although that is not a feature I currently use and can't vouch for. It uses apple's iCloud APIs, so to some extent may be limited by what Apple's APIs can do.

Here's what we tried - and none of this worked when we tried the CD and DVD at our local library on their Dell, Compaq and IBM PCs.
1. We have 11 documents composed in Word (2004) in .rtf format with many, many photos embedded. The documents are in a folder.
We first created a disk image of the folder using Disk Utility: File> Create image from folder. Once we had the .dmg which was about 1.16 GB we burned this onto a DVD choosing no compression and no encryption. This DVD worked fine on the MBP but it wasn't even recognized by any of the PCs at the library.
2A. We tried to compress the folder to burn it onto a CD. In DU, by choosing compression with no encryption we reduced it to about 530MB. For some unknown reason when we tried to burn this onto a CD using DU, we got the message that the CD didn't have enough space. It is a 700MB CD so that made no sense - does anyone know why this would occur?
2B. So, we went to the Finder to use its burn option. We were able to put the 530MB compressed folder which we created in DU onto a CD using the Finder. Again, this worked fine on the Mac. At the library this CD was recognized by the PCs, but Word couldn't open it. Once we got a message that it was too large to be opened (bigger than 32MB!) - the librarian did not recognize this as a default that they might have set. Mostly, we got the message that Windows could not open the document.
What should we have done? What should we do to achieve this? I know there must be a way.

This sounds like a good idea, but the CD is a gift for a friend in India and presenting him with a flash drive just won't be the same. (Although I suppose we could take the drive with us and burn something there - but that's too risky if it fails on the ground and besides, what we'd have on the drive would be Mac created, unless you have an idea on how to get around that - DU DVD/CD master? convert?)

The original folder as a dmg was 1.16GB too big for a CD. As a compressed file done in DU it was about 530MB and as a zip it is 450 or thereabouts. The files are on the MBP and I am on the G4 now and it is not turned on.
The fairly easy to use application the link takes you to, has almost no learning curve.
It will not compress an item, but you can easily; to include putting items in folders and
then use Create Archive to make them one package...
The Burn 2.3 utility makes Mac+PC compatible disc recordings, in DVD and CD media.
The simple interface is why it is handy. Otherwise, one could probably get by with the
other methods which are native to the Mac; through other steps...
I'm not sure what I am gaining at this point in time by doing this - if you both think archive (zip) and burn from finder will work.
This does sound like something we can definitely use in the future, thanks.

Max number of files that can be opened in harddrive through AEBS?

What is the maximum number of files that can be opened in a external hard drive (Lacie 500 GB, USB 2.0) connected through the AEBS? Looks like there is a limit.
When I am trying to 'seed' files through a bit-torrent client (Azureus 2.5.0.4) many of them give an error "Error: too many open files". I never had this error before.
When I tried to delete a file in the hard drive, I got the error "too many open files". Then I stopped 'seeding' in Azureus and I was able to delete the file.

iBooks Authur has a few widgets and there are many thrid party widget makers online such as Bookry, who may also be able to create what you want if its technically possible - at a price.

Sorry, I cannot post a URL to the file because it is for intenal use only.
I noticed that the pdf file can be opened outside of IE browser if I disable the Adobe Reader add-on (active-X) in IE browser. If I enable the Reader add-on, the Reader cannot complete the file download. The progress bar goes in a half way, and stays there.
Just FYI, the pdf file was created by Distiller 7. Do you think it is the issue of Reader add-on? Thanks.

Time Machine Has Never Performed a Full Backup that Can Be Restored From

I've been backing up my system via time machine to a time capsule. I'm using the same time capsule for both my mac and my wife's. My wife's mac is backing up fine with numerous full backups that can be restored from. However, when I recently booted into recovery mode, I discovered there were no full backups of my mac that I could restore from. I've been using this time capsule for about a year now so I'm concerned as to why there are no full backups. I can enter time machine and see my docs and files...just no full backups. There was a bug in Mountain Lion that caused TM to fail to backup system files.

Honestly if you want a reliable full backup get CCC or other clone type backup and do a disk image to a USB drive that you can then test boot from. Then use TM for incrementals..

How do I properly build a dll in cygwin (gcc) that can be loaded through Labview 5

I am a newbie to building dlls as well as to cygwin. I realize that this is more a cygwin/gcc dll build question, but I have built a dll (using cygwin) that can only be accessed by running an executable through cygwin. When I try accessing a function in the dll through labview, I keep getting a "function not found" error, even though the parameters etc are correctly passed.
If anyone has built a dll through cygwin (and has had success using it through Labview), I would appreciate directions on how to do so properly.

Yes, this is a cygwin support question, so I won't be able to help you much from the LabVIEW side. Just make sure you follow the instructions in Using External Code in LabVIEW manual on gcc compiler.

Create a PDF file that can be opened in PS

Hello,
I a cartographer that is creating a map with thousands of contour lines (among many other layers) in .ai. Unfortunately, I can't open this map in PS. PS will think for upwards of 10 hours trying to rasterize this file (and at that point it was about 1/100th converted). If I turn the contour layer off, PS can open/rasterize the file in a matter of minutes.
My goal is to open this .ai file in PS and then save it as a .tiff for printing. Does anyone know how to go about doing this? FYI, I have opened this file in InD and exported it as a PDF, but PS can't open it either.

I have an information plug-in that gets a little more specific. In all I have 850,000 verticies (2 points and a connecting line segment) which equates to about 5,250 paths. I can't simplify too much, however, I have simplified the paths 5 x at 99%. If I try to simplify at just 95% my contour lines will not line up with my streams and valleys.
Do you know the maximum amount of verticies that can be handled?
