Anyone have a G4 15"PB and a 20" mac display connected?
I was just wondering what experience anyone has had if they have purchased a 20" Apple display and have it connected to their 15" powerbook.
Also, can you keep the PB closed while using the external monitor and how?

I haven't used an Apple 20" display with my Powerbook, but it should work swimmingly. I've used several other displays and projectors with mine without any trouble.

I have paid and downloaded LION and want to update my IMAC, can i just run install and it keep photos settings etc from Snow Leopard or is a full reinstall with wiped hard drive, anyone have any experience of this and do i need to run a backup beforehand?
Always backup your important data before upgrading to a new Mac OS X.
Lion doesn't erase the drive but better to be safe than sorry.
And run Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities). Verify and if necessary repair the startup disk before upgrading.

Usualy we take the strongest measures to avoid that and never let it come to that. You should of had back up's running on and off site. How bad is your problem?? I'm assuming you are talking abou a hard drive that is faulty. Have you tried restarting in Safe Mode??
You get experts that can retrieve data from a hard drive depending how bad the problem is. It usualy cost more than the Hard drive......but if you are desperate and value your data you'll do it.

I have a 2011 i5 iMac and I am struggling to connect it to my Samsung PS50C680 Plasma TV. I am using a MDP to HDMI cable and using HDMI1 on the TV as shown in the manual. No matter which I turn on first etc the iMac cannot find the display and the TV shows no signal. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any help would be appreciated.

anyone have trouble installing blockbuster on-demand app on Mac. My mac downloads the app but i can't seem to find the dowload file in my macHD folder so that I can install the app. I have the OSX version 10.6.8
Where are you downloading the app from?
The only one I can find is for iOS based devices > Blockbuster On Demand for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store -

I've tried it but since I'm using a USB disk drive it keeps freezing up or showing you a folder blinking folder with a question mark. (?). When I start the mac up I hold the control button until the Mac OS install disk shows up. My hard drive doesn't show up anymore. In order to load the 4.5 software on your device you will simply need to get to a PC running Windows XP or Vista and go to the web-based software loader page at the following link:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update/
There is currently no way to complete this task using PocketMac on the Mac. The software loader will back up your device by default but I would certainly make sure that you have everything you need in another place before proceeding.

Anyone have any luck with steam and wine
im trying to get any steam to work with wine and so far i've had no luck.
i have a 512 ATI RADEON X1600 graphics card and im using the open source ati driver.
have had some success with counterstrike 1.6. I start a game (local) but it is extremely choppy/laggy.
does anyone have any pointers on how to get it to run more smoothly?I don't know how well the open source drivers are going to handle games, catalyst may work better but you will have to use the legacy driver (here) for an X1600, and it doesn't work with the most recent kernel.

Anyone have an issue with spilling liquid on the Mac Book Pro and it won't turn on now?
A liquid was accidentally spilled on the Mac Book Pro and although it didn't appear that much liquid spilled on the computer, it will not start up now. Anyone have an issue like this? Also, the charger will not light up.
Liquids have no place on a MacBook Pro. Even a little bit is going to damage it. Depending on the type of liquid (pure 100% alcohol the best, since it's volatile and non oxidative), the damage is probably permanent. If it's just water, let it dry, and see what happens. If it's something with sugar or salts in it, then you're probably in trouble, because even if they do dry out, the moisture in the air of place like South Florida will hydrate the dried up salts, creating conductive pathways shorting out your computer over and over again.
You can take it to an authorize Apple dealer or Apple itself for repair. There is no warranty coverage. And the cost will probably exceed that of a new MacBook Pro, depending on the age of yours.
