Anyone have a successful refund/exchange?  Am I likely to get one?

Hello everyone. I recently got my iPod and am still figuring everything out. Last night I bought five songs that I thought were from a certain soundtrack. After purchasing I realized that they were not from the soundtrack, and I do not want the version of the songs that I got. After rechecking, I find that iTunes does not even offer the soundtrack that I wanted so I cannot exchange the songs for the right version. One song was very poor quality as well. In the short time that I have had my iPod I have made many, many iTunes purchases and have never been disappointed until now. This is my first time reporting a purchase problem and I am curious if anyone else has had any success getting a full or partial refund for an inadvertent purchase?
I paid $4.95 total for the songs. I would like to get at least half of my money refunded ($2.48). Is this reasonable or likely? I reported three of the songs last night but I had to get offline so I reported the other two this morning. I only listened to each of the songs once and have not downloaded them onto my iPod or a disc if that counts for anything. I know that the policy is “once you purchase a song it is your problem” but I really hope that this all gets worked out. So far I have not been able to find anyone who has successfully received a refund. Thank you for your time and assistance.

UPDATE: I never received any sort of response from the three reports I sent last night. I did, however, receive responses from tonight's two reports. The first, I got a credit for one song. The second, I was told I could not have a refund and they explained how to avoid inadvertently purchasing songs in the future. I am still waiting for a response concerning the e-mail I sent the iTunes team, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say that they will probably not refund the rest of my money. I can't really complain, though, as it was my fault, and I am greatly appreciative for the one song credit that I did receive.

Some have found relief just by reinstalling, but it is more than likely incompatible third-party applications that slow it down.
You will have to investigate to see what it is.
Open Activity Monitor and see if anything is using a lot of CPU% or Memory. If they are, check to see if there is an update for them.
Another place to look is the Console. See if anything is logging repeating messages with throttling and/or respawn in the All Messages list.
Sometimes it is not that easy to root out the problems, but if you have anything that purported to clean, protect, optimize, maintain, or flush your system, then that is likely the cause.

  • Anyone have any success connecting a generic PS3 controller through Mavericks on my macbook pro

    Hi
I am able to connect the above controllers and play supported games via USB connection. However, bluetooth does not seemingly support these devices of which I have 2.
I have followed connection guidance for earlier versions of OSX and connect via USB to recognise the device and then remove the usb cable, press the PS button and the device is prompted to pair via bluetooth. I am using a password of "0000" to pair and key this in to my macbook but then nothing happens. The device is shown as not connected, nor paired and the "connect" option has no effect.
In system information this is what presents under bluuetooth device is configured but neither paired nor connected

Anybody have any success with such a bluetooth connection .....so much better without cables after all ?
I did read one forum post indicating that one user had cloned a working PS3 controller and copying and pasting configuration data in terminal. As I don't currently have a controller that will pair that's a step too far for me.
    Thanks in anticipation

  • Does anyone have a success story to share about using Photoshop CC and Printing with HP EVNY Printer

I having huge probems with color management.  HP does not make an ICC Profile for this printer and the color match is terribile - does anyone have a configuration for color management that works with the HP ENVY 5530E printer.

I feel your pain, but I don't know the solution, sorry. Our Mac guru who primarily serves designers is not upgrading any of his clients to Mavericks so far, due to printing (and other) issues. Se we're still on 10.8.4 here.

  • Does anyone have any efficient techniques for saving mail on more than one machine and in the cloud (I need offline access). Trying to avoid endless message copying.

I've been in an administrative job at my university, in which I needed to be able to access lots of past email conversations.  I ended up saving *everything* religiously, by copying each email or conversation into an "On My Mac" folder on either my home or office machine, flagging it as copied, then unflagging it and moving it to a like folder on the other machine. As a result I'v now got a trillion folders for various aspects of my job, filled with quite a few messages that I probably no longer even need, but they're way too many to go through and delete one by one.  Unfortunately, I haven't made much use of the iCloud folders, but I'm so tired of having to essentially manually sync my stored mail in the manner I just described, that I'm thinking of starting to file everything to iCloud folders.  The downside of that is that obviously if the internet is down and a given folder wasn't refreshed before it went down, I won't have access to the saved mail.
Moreover, I'm about to step down from the admin post -- within about 6 months a lot of what I saved won't be needed at all, and going forward, I won't need to save nearly the same quantity of messages for later reference.  I'd like to come up with some viable "triage" strategies for limiting the mail I do save.
This is really just an open question:  Does anyone have any good mail filing and storage techniques that you'd be willing to share?  I'm especially interested in criteria you use for what you save and don't save, and where/how you save it.

Well, the one set up on exchange 2k3 is now working fine, although no changes were made on either the iPhone or the exchange side, so that's fun, but it still is throwing errors when connecting to the other 2 exchange accounts. The common elements are that both non-functioning exchange accounts are google apps for business accounts. So is one of the ones that's working, by the way. The settings on both accounts are the same as the one that's working, and both worked fine before the 8.3 upgrade. I have no issue accessing both of these accounts on my ipad which is currently on 8.2.x. If it's not the iphone OS at fault, I'm at a loss as to what it could be.

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for Ad blocking? I'm getting a lot of pop up ads while using Facebook from Safari.

I'm getting a lot of pop up ads. mostly while using  Facebook. I'm running Safari on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite. Does anyone have any suggestions for an Ad blocker. I don't see anything in the App store.
I can't swear to it but I don't recall this being a problem pre-Yosemite. I could be wrong. I haven't been real active on Facebook until recently. I see some third party apps out there but am alway wary of non approved software.

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Anyone have a successful 10.5.2 Update?

Just wondering if anyone has had a successful 10.5.2 Update? I have been reading nothing but stories of freezing and other issues, until I hear from people that have not had any issues I will be waiting to install this update. Please tell your success stories!

All of my installs have gone well. Aside from all of my Mac Pros with multiple graphic cards. (translucent menu bar option is not available. I've sent a bug report about this. This only affects machines with multiple graphic cards.)
Ted Harper is right. This is the emergency room. The best consensus practice is to 1. Backup everything to an external hard drive. 2. Repair the disk you intend to install on. 3. Repair permissions on the volume you intend to install on. 4. Install non-system related software via Software Update. 5. Install the System Updates by downloading the dmgs directly from apple's site. 6. Repair permissions after a successful install has rebooted.
This process has worked for me on 3 Mac Pros, 1 MacBook Pro, 2 Intel Minis, 1 G4 mini, 1 Dual G5 tower. A circa 1999 G4 with a processor upgrade. and a TiBook. I don't have any issues except for the Mac Pro, which won't affect 95% of the users out there.
It has been well worth it for me. (diagnosing problems has been kinda fun though. )

  • AppleCare off of eBay? Anyone have any success with this?

I am looking into purchasing AppleCare for my 4 month old Macbook Pro. I am a student so I can get it for $249, but I have seen on eBay where it will sometimes go for less than that. Has anyone purchased AppleCare off of eBay before? If so, how was your experience with it?

To follow up on Traildawg, you can get a feel for the merchants on e-Bay, mostly from the feedback. You can get some good deals if you are careful and read the ads. You can get an intuative feeling on what is more risky and what is not. About the Applecare I ordered, I felt that if I registered it immediately, as I did, and if Apple accepted the registration, which they did, then later on, down the pike, if they (Apple) tried to back out on it, I would have a good argument in small claims court, I could assert that they are estopped from not honoring the deal.
I, too, would never buy a computer from them, you know it's abused. I once, for the **** of it, bought a Tangerine Clamshell knowing I was taking a chance, and sure 'nuf. I don't really know if the computer was bad or whether it was that I changed memory, hard drive, and my 10 thumbs just failed me.

  • Does anyone have a good recommendation for a tutorial that will get me started quickly?

I just bought imovie for my macbook pro.  (I thought it was supposed to come with it)  Anyway, I am under the gun to complete a project.  Are there any tutorials that you would recommend for a beginner who needs to use imovie for basic functions for the time being?

What versions of OS X and iMovie are you running?
iMovie is part of the iLife suite and comes bundled with every new Mac.

  • Does anyone have an issue when listening through the earpiece you get a vibration?

Experiencing a small issue with the iPhone 4s, when making a phone call and listening through the phones earpiece I get a vibration like something is loose through the earpiece, I've had iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 but never experienced this before.

I think it depends on how you share it.  Sometimes when I email it to myself it retains the edits, but I read that when people sync their phone it sometimes does not.

  • Anyone using Time Capsule as a NAS? Thinking of getting one...

    Hello guys,
I plan to purchase a 2TB TC because I need a NAS. I have a ATV2 which I will JB and install XBMC, an XBOX, A LG LED LM7600 with Smart TV and networking features, a mac book air and 2 iPhones.
I want to be able to stream HD content (movies, music, pictures, etc) stored on the TC to all those devices. Anyone here is able to do that flawlessly?
    My main concerns are:
    1) Ive heard the TC turns off the HD spinning to save power consumption. This can cause problems as the clients have to reload or remount the TC drive once it has stopped spinning. Is this actually an issue?
    2) The TC is not DLNA certified. I will use the ATV2 to stream most of the content, however the ATV2 does not play 1080 movies, but my LED LM7600 does. How do I stream HD content from the TC directly to my TV?
    3) The TC cannot act like an iTunes server. I dont really understand what the itunes server is for. Here I plan to setup my iTunes installations on my different computers to point to the TC. Then each itunes could sync separately against the TC. Is this feasible to do? Where would an iTunes server fit here?
    4) I dont want to use the TC to backup my computers. I dont mind about that.  But I do would like to to back the content ON my TC (all of my media content) maybe to a USB disc attached to the TC. Is this possible?
    Thank you!!
    Alvaro

Synology seems a bit expensive... plus I have to get a router too... Which Router and NAS would you recommend to stream HD content and that costs equal as the TC?
There are a number of routers you can plug USB drives into, including the Airport Extreme.. although they do tend to be slow.. and will not offer AFP generally except the Extreme. Lots of netgear, linksys, asus offer the USB with DLNA now.. but won't have ability to handle TM. Some of the ones by WD and Seagate do, but then you discover TM stopped working at Lion.
I use a single disk NAS.. it is made by Zyxel and sold on special by Aldi stores.. and it does TM and DLNA.. it is very reasonable little NAS.. and was $120 for 1.5TB. It does TM fine for Snow Leopard but I have never tried it on Mountain Lion.
Price wise the TC is hard to beat for what it does. For your situation it is a case that it doesn't do all that you want, that is a concern.  BTW if you intend streaming HD over wireless.. do a few tests before you start getting into the actual purchasing of equipment. Wireless does not handle streaming particularly well especially if the distance is fairly large and you cannot use the higher speed 5ghz band.

  • HT201240 I don't have the disk to do this, where can I get one? I bought my mac from a shop in botany, this was an ex lease mac etc.... Can you please help?

Hi, I don't have the start up disk for my mac, and am not able to login how can I reset my password? Mac was purchased as a ex lease from a PCM shop in botany.... Cheers

Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html

  • HT4623 my ipad 2 doesnt have a software update option! How do I get one?

My pad doesnt have the software update option in general settings, Just wondering how  would down load it onto my ipad!!  So right now i cant use netflix really want to watch some movies! Thanks!

What you're talking about is a feature that comes with iOS5, the ability to update over the air. If you don't see it then your device is likely running iOS4.something.
In that case, you way to update is to hook your iPad up to the computer you nomally sync with and update the software that way.
You will need to update your iTUnes to 11.1, it's required for iOS7. THen I suggest you do a full sync and backup of your iPad. THEN follow the prompts to download and install iOS7.

  • I tried the trial version of photoshop and never really got to use it and now some months later I'm getting interested in photography but don't have so much money. was wondering if i could get one more chance.

is it possible to get a new trial because i didn't get to use the first one

You can always try an older trial version as the basis for your decision since it won't be too much different from the subscription version.
