Anyone have Contract Manager v13 installed on a domain controller?

Hello Everyone
I have a client who says that the primavera reseller told him it was ok to install CM13 on his Domain controller w2k3 r2, which hosts other databases such as quickbooks and instances of IIS.
Has anyone ever installed in a situation like this, concurrently with other Dbs and Web servers running?
I understand that the app server and web server is usually 2 separate machines as well, but with previous versions of CM, you were able to install both on one machine. And those machines were dedicated to CM.
A quick one line response on if your server/serves are dedicated for CM would be great!
Any other information would be a great help as well!
Thanks
Dennis

Technically its not impossible. :) one line! :]
Tough I would never install CM on DC, basically I would avoid anything that would make the crash of DC more probable.
CM service will take 500-800MB of the RAM, takes a huge peek on CPU while deployment, after that is basically not that troublesome,
Database (SQL or oracle) needs it own memory and CPU.
I'm not sure if want your DC with other services to be overloaded.
IIS - they need to know that if any of the apps they use on IIS is using port 80 they will not be able to use CM service on port 80 as well.
With the prices of hardware vs prices of CM licenses I would ask a loud - why do you want all in one machine?

  • IE or Contract Management v13 thinks my DOCX file is a zip

When trying to open an attachment IE or Contract Management v13 thinks my DOCX file is a zip. This started last Thursday. Outta the blue. We’ve been searching for a days now for a solution. Nothing has helped. I have a few hundred users all with various combinations of applications on their boxes. XP PRO, Windows 7, Office; 2007, 2010, WordPerfect 5.1 files work just fine. :)

We are having the same problem and are wondering whether you found a solution. A workaround is to disable MIME handling in IE (this is what Oracle support will suggest), but this is far from ideal as it does compromise security slightly.
The problem arises when WebLogic (or JBoss, WebSphere....) sends the file to your browser. It marks the file as Content type "application/octet-stream" instead of identifying it as a MS Word 2010 document. This causes IE to try to identify the type itself. First it checks the extension of the file and looks in the registry to see what's there. If it finds an entry, it then reads the first part of the file to see if the content matches what the registry says. Something appears to be broken in the way IE identifies Word 2007+ files, causing it to identify them as .zip files. Users are then prompted to save the file to their desktop.
Word 2007+ files actually ARE zip files under the hood, but until recently we had no problem with them. There appear to be three possible routes to resolve this issue.
One, take Oracle's "pass the buck" advice and disable MIME handling in IE so that IE no longer tries to identify the file (registry hack set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_MIME_HANDLING\iexplore.exe to 0). This bypasses the problem and introduces security holes to your workstation configuration.
Two, configure your Java application server to send the files with the correct content-type header. I can't find a way to do this in WebLogic so far as you have to modify the web.xml file, which is created by the application installation/deployment. Oracle Primavera CM support has yet to respond to my request on this other than to say "consult WebLogic support". Oracle WebLogic's support will (as they have in the past) tell me it's application specific and to consult Oracle CM support. Neither support group seems to be able to support Oracle's products. (Dear Oracle, please get your act together. You own both products and should be embarrassed by the lack of customer service here.)
Three, figure out why IE is failing to match up the 2007+ file types with the file content. We're assuming a recent patch did this, but haven't identified which one. In any event, we will probably not be allowed to roll back a security patch to fix this.
Anyway, I hope this helps you. I have a case open currently, as well as another post in the forums.

  • Install Active Directory Domain Controller on Windows server 2008 enterprise, dont login on Sql Server 2008 R2

I install Active Directory Domain Controller on Windows server 2008 enterprise and dont login on Sql Server 2008 R2. Before install ADDC, I have logon SQL Server 2008r2 Success, After when i install ADDC is don't logon on SQL Server 2008r2 -->not success.
I have uninstalled ADDC but i still can't login on SQL server 2008r2.
please help me. it  is very very disaster!
I think is loss account SQL server 2008r2!

    Hello,
I stronly recommend you post the detail error message to us while you try to connect to SQL Server instance, it's useful for us to do further investigation.
Microsoft recommends that you do not install SQL Server 2008 R2 on a domain controller, there are some limitations:
You cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service account or a network service account.
After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain member to a domain controller. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain controller.
After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain controller to a domain member. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain member.
SQL Server failover cluster instances are not supported where cluster nodes are domain controllers.
SQL Server Setup cannot create security groups or provision SQL Server service accounts on a read-only domain controller. In this scenario, Setup will fail.
On Windows Server 2003, SQL Server services can run under a domain account or a local system account.
So, I would suggest you try to open up Windows Services list and changed the account for SQL Server service.

  • Find all systems that do not have configuration manager client installed

Guys I've been installing the SCCM client however I still have a lot of systems where the client has not been installed. Is there some type of report or script that you all run in order to find out who does not have the client installed? Any help with
this is greatly appreciated. So far I have been using a log on script in order to install clients.

Are you using AD system discovery? If so you can create a collection with membership query rule looks like this:
select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.Client is null  and SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion
    like "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation%"
and SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like "Microsoft Windows NT Workstation%" -
Take that part out if you want both servers and workstations.

I'm having some difficulty installing LR v4. Went through the steps and downloaded it on my mac. I can see the LR icon on my desktop but each time I double click on it, it keeps bringing me back to the download page again.
Any ideas why and how I can successfully download the program?

What's the full name of the file you're double clicking on, including the extension?  And which Mac version are you running?

  • Does anyone have experience with XTC/C OR XTC/2 controller?

I am trying to use a serial connection to program an XTC/C controller.. if anyone can give me some help that would be great. I am running off of labview v6 and the examples given for serial I/O aren't responding to the machine.

    Hi,
I haven't worked with this particular device, but using the serial port is a matter of getting some configuration parameters corect.
First of all you should have the documentation for the device. This documentation should include the interface configuration parameters and the command set for the instrument.
First thing is the cabling. The documentation should specified the type of connector used. If the serial connector is just like the PC's, you'll probably need a null modem. If not you'll need a straight-thru cable.
To use the serial port you'll need to configure the PC serial port settings to the same values as the device. These parameters are: baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits and handshaking (flow control).

  • DPM 2010 agent install on W2k8 Domain Controller issue

Hey guys, so I'm having a problem getting DPM 2010 agents on my Windows 2008 domain controllers. For some reason the agent will not communicate with the dpm server after running the attach process. The process I go through to install (which is
working in my Dev environment) is
    1) (on DC) Run manual agent install by running agent.exe file from ProtectionAgents folder on DPM server
    2) (on DC) Run the setdpmserver command line to specify the DPM server
    3) (on specified DPM server) Run Agent attach sequence from Agent tabs in DPM console which says successful, but when you return to agents view under "unprotected computers" I see error.
I've verified the tests that other users have posted on this forum including
PING, DCOM permissions, verifying that inbound rules are setup, tested SMB, tested RPC, and also uninstalled and reinstalled the agent. Any ideas where to search next?

I checked the MSDPMCurr.errlog, but I'm not exactly sure how to look for the failures that relate to the DC. When I search for the netbios name of the DC, I can see failures, but I also see identical failures under other server names as well. Is there anything
specifically I should be looking for?
I am requesting turning off the integrated firewall for testing as well and am awaiting an answer.
I am attaching part of the log I was looking at.

  • Is it possible Lync 2013 to be installed on a Domain Controller?

I run a small infrastructure with two servers only,
Both Domain Controllers with Windows 2008 R2 and the one is a file server too. I would like to know if I can install Lync 2013 Standard Server to any of them? I have not found a clear answer anywhere as I found for 2010.
    Thank You in advance

    Hi,
    Agree with Michael,
You can't install Lync server on DC. You should use another server.
Here is a similar may help you, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

Out of curiosity, has anyone on here managed to install XP on RAID 0, using 2 SATAII drives ?
I've had problems (another post) ... but I was just curious if anyone has managed to do it.
If so, can you confirm ...
    a) what slots in the mobo you put your SATA drives in (there is that single 'special' SATA connector!)
    b) what driver did you use for the F6 method.
I just want to see if anyone has managed to do what I have utterly failed to do ...

Are you still having problems installing windows on RAID? PrvtMsg me if you want some help.
Incidentally you should be using two of the five main SATA ports, enabling RAID in the SATA section (forget the JMicron - disable it)
Next you should be able to enter the Intel RAID config Mgr WHILST the system is POSTing, and set up your RAID volume from there.
This should enable you to use the Intel RAID drivers on a floppy disk.

I have 2 seagate 7200.10 (perpendicular recording) drives in RAID 0 on the intel controller, no problems at all.  This config rips, its unreal, I'm sure it gives all of raptors except the new version a serious headache, haha.
Really? what sort of benchmarks are you getting? I use HDTach for HDD Benching.

did anyone out there manage to install sogo ( http://www.scalableogo.org/ ) on arch?

Timm, you have to install gnustep-base and gcc-objc. Then add /opt/GNUstep/System/Tools to the PATH
    export $PATH:/opt/GNUstep/System/Tools
    and execute
    ./configure --gsmake=/opt/GNUstep/System/Library/Makefiles
    make
But unfortunately there is at least one header file missing: NGExtensions/NSObject+Logs.h

  • Anyone on O2 managed a successful IOS5 install?

Seems to be a lot of doom and gloom about IOS5 so before I go installing have people managed to install successfully without bricking?
I'm on O2 in the UK - surely some people have success stories to share?

Yes, it worked fine for me, first time. It was a little slow to download as Apple's servers were being hammered, but the congestion should've eased a bit by now.
Bear in mind this is a support forum. You won't find thousands of messages from people who had no problems.
The phone network you are using is irrelevant. All iPhone models get the same update.

  • Problem with running contract manager under WLS as windows service

I am having a problem running Contract Manager V13 as a windows service. I am using weblogic 10gR3 app server running under Windows 2008 sp2 (32 bit). The system functions just fine if run as an application from the command line. When I use the Oracle install contract manager as admin server (using jrockit) script from Oracle support, the service installs OK, but when starting I get:
+"The contract-mgr-svc-jrockit service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."+
Has anyone run into this problem of windows services not working? If so how did you fix it?
How are others starting contract manager automatically under Weblogic server, without having to do a manual startup?
I am dealing with this disclaimer from Oracle:
Disclaimer: Contract Management has not been officially tested with WebLogic as a Windows service. If experiencing a problem under this configuration that cannot be reproduced, while running as an application, the solution be to run Contract Management as an application.
and have been working with Oracle support for 2-3 weeks now on this problem without any luck.
Is the situation with using Windows services better if I use JBoss application server? Does Oracle officially support Windows service running with JBoss?
    Thanks in advance...

What account is the service running under? It may be that the service does not have access to the folders it needs, or does not have the right java CLASSPATH set.
Can you try running the service under the exact same account that successfully runs via the command line?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply,
I had already found the user guide, infact much easier way to download it is at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/primaverapcm-087479.html
The problem is this user guide jumps into too much CM terminology without creating a knowledge of it. I am having problems following the user guide.
Has anyone found another book or presentations or videos that could help......
All the power users should start posting videos on how to use contract management on youtube... It really does help a ton.
