Anyone have iPod Software Updater 1.0?

Hi there,
I'm looking for a copy of the original iPod Software Updater 1.0 app (from way back in 2001) for my 1st Gen iPod. (I know that the latest firmware is included in the current package, but I'm looking for that original app from apple.com that wasn't included on the CD and that I have since deleted).
Let me know if you still have this app sitting around.
Thanks!
powerbook g4 12" 1GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Thanks, but unfortunately only the current version of the updater is available on the Support Downloads site (if you can find any other ones, please post the link!).
Also, the version of firmware for the 1st/2nd gen iPods in the universal updater is 1.5. I'm looking for 1.0.
Thanks.

I have a software update on my iPhone but it asks me for a 4 number pass code does anyone know what this code is as never been asked before and don't have one

Hopefully, you use a passcode to unlock your lock screen. It is that passcode that is required to update IOS. See Settings > Passcode.

Updating from the ipod itself is a feature of ios 5 or later.
You would need to update as always.  Turn on computer, open itunes, connect ipod.
The first gen ipod will only go to 3.1.3

    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • HT4623 My Ipod doesn't have a 'software update' button

I want to update to the lastest IOS but my ipod doesn't have a 'software update' option. Are there no other ways to do this?

    To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes
iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A 1G iPod can go to iOS 2.2 via iTunes and iOS 3.1.3 via
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. If a Mac it requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
A 3G to 5.1.1  Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
A 4G to 6  Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. For a Mac, that requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later

i go to "settings" and "about" but no button there to upgrade to ios. why not?

See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

  • HT4623 What do I do if my iPod doesn't have a Software Update option?

i just looked up on your page how to update my iPod and it said to go to Setting -> General -> Software Update. But I don't have a Software update option on my settings.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
