Anyone have success in getting G5 to remember keys?

I have a new AirPort Extreme setup. I am using WPA/WPA2 encryption and have successfully got it connected to the internet as my old AirPort base was. However, the problem is that my G5 computers all can't seem to remember the keys between sessions. That is, when I turn on a G5 it will not automatically connect to the wireless network. I have to manually re-enter the network name and key - it will consistently think the first combination was in error, it always accepts the second try. It stays connected until G5 is powered down. It will occasionally forget about the DNS servers as well.
So, is this a configuration issue? A known problem?
thanks,
Joe

I had the same problem. Try going to system preferences and chose the network pane. In the network pane, highlight your airport then hit the "configure" button. In the configure screen (airport tab), choose "preferred networks" from the drop down menu where it says "By default, join:". If you see your airport listed, select it and click the edit button. If not, hit the plus sign to add it. Either way, you should get a window where you can input your network name, security, and password.
This fixed it for me. Now my laptop connects to the airport automatically when I start up or wake from sleep.

    I need to setup 7800 Series IP Phones in the CUCM 8.6.2 which by default are not support but will work after install the software. Anyone have document from Cisco as I remember I seen once before.

    Hi Ali,
    I'll just add this reference to the good tips from my friend Manish (+5)
    Support for the 7800 series in CUCM 8.6.2 was first added with this
    Device Pack;
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager
    Device Package 8.6(2)(24104-1)Release Notes
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager Device Package Release 8.6(2)
    adds support for the Cisco IP Phones
    7821, 7841, and 7861 running SIP firmware release 10.1(1).
    The steps are in this doc
    http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074299/107528/cmterm-devicepack-8.6.2.24104-1_Readme.pdf
    You might as well install the latest 8.6.2 Device pack

    Cheers!

  • Did anyone have success applying the invisible shield to their ipad?

    Did anyone have success applying the Invisible Shield to their Ipad?

    Yes.  Make sure any iPad Cover that you have for it is removed first.  Then, start at the bottom where the On/Off button is.  Peel off only a small section of the bottom of the invisible layer and attached the small exposed sticky side to the bottom of the iPad.
    Line it up as best as you can.  Placing the edge of the iPad against a flat surface like a wall or backsplash on a kitchen counter can help you to keep the invisible sheet "square" with the iPad surface.
    Was that a confusing answer?

  • Anyone have sucess to get S-Video out working on iSight iMac (20")

    I used the Apple iMac-->Video Out adapter (composite and S) but no luck using S-Video cable (new Monster cable).
    Have not tried composite yet.
    As soon as I plug the adapter in the iMac's resolution resets and I have the additional display options in preferences.
    If anyone has been successful to get video out going, what settings did you use for the TV Display in preferences?
    TIA

    Too bad one has to plug/unplug it to turn the TV on/off. Or am I missing something?
    I tried the S-Video direct to the TV and it worked. Before I was trying it to input side of DVD recorder because it runs to an auto-switched input on the TV. Seems one just can't get all the eggs into one basket
    Quality was good on my 50" Sony.

  • Has anyone had success in getting Apple to correct Maps mistakes?

    On multiple occasions I've submitted a correction using the function within Maps to report errors, but nothing is ever done.  Has anyone ever had any success in getting Apple's attention and getting something fixed?  Or is the submitting a correction feature just a black hole?  I've had to tell friends with iPhones to always use Google Maps rather than Apple to navigate their way to my house because Maps has completely mislabeled the street outside my development.  It sure would be nice if they had a human being you could call...

    For users who's printer/scanner does not have a compatible driver from their manufacturer:
    How do I scan or print with the driver from Apple Software Update?
    Depending on your printer and the type of driver update, you might need to scan in a different way than you did before you installed Mountain Lion.
    Scan from the Print & Scan window:
    Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the automatic document feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
    Click the Apple menu (# ), and then click System Preferences .
    Click Print & Scan (# ).
    Click your printer in the left pane.
    Click the Scan tab, and then click Open Scanner .
    Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to change scan settings.Figure 5: Show Details scanning screen# Image: Show Details scanning screen
    Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .
    NOTE:
    Make sure to select either the Flatbed mode or the Document Feedermode, depending on your printer and how you plan to scan.

  • Anyone have any trouble getting a Promise Pegasus R4 drive to install/optimize?

    I just purchased an R4 Pegasus w/ Thunderbolt cable to go with my brand new iMac 27".
    The Pegasus paperwork says it can take up to 10-hours for the R4 to fully optimize/synchronize.
    Well, the blue "LED Drive Activity" light has been flashing for well over 24 hours.
    Instructions read "don't unplug the unit" during optimization process...
    Anyone have any experience with the R4 Pegasus (with Thunderbolt).
    New to me...
    Thanks!

    I just connected a Pegasus R6 for the first time.  It's been running 8 hours now (with a little whirring sound) and I am willing to wait for it to optimize/synchronize but I am concerned because the blue switch is not flashing as advertised--it has been steady since I plugged it in (it actually started that way--I did not press it to start it).  There is no icon on my screen.  I would appreciate any observations/advice.  Thank you!

    My iPhone has been running much slower ever since though

  • Anyone have success with Solavei Service

    Hi,  my wife has an android phone that she switched over the Solavei service, which utilizes the T-Mobile network.  The service is working well for her, and is much less expensive that AT&T or Verizon.  Has anyone successfully moved an Iphone 3gs over to Solavei?

    Hello. I have the iphone3 and another member in triopaysmembers (Solavei community) have iphone4 running fine on Solavei (which is T-mobile's network.) We started out paying $49/month, unlimited data, text, talk, no roaming charge.
    Since we, triopaysmembers, are referring and sponsorring others to Solavei, we are getting paid every month. Solavei pays $20/month, every month for every 3 new customers (members) who signed up with service.
    You can do the same. We have a system that support and work with new members to get their first trio as soon as possible. So if you are interested, please send us an email at [email protected] You can also follow triopaysmembers on twitter, facebook. We will send you a sponsor's link to Solavei so you can sign up. All personal and sensitive information is handled confidentially and securedly between you and Solavei's system like any other national carrier. We, or you will never have access to others' personal information. So rest assured. If you signed up with Solavei without a sponsor, they will just assign you to any random member, who may not support you the same way we do.
    Check out the 15 markets that are good for Iphones on Tmobile's (Solavei) network. If you are living in one of those markets, you can take full advantage of Solavei's fast service for the iphones.

  • HT3669 My HP Officejet J4680 is now useless in OS X 10.8, has anyone had success in getting the HP printer to work in Mountain Lion

    I recently installed Mountain Lion, now my printer/fax/scanner is useless. If anyone has been able to fully use an HP Officejet J4680 please let me know how to get it to work, I am strongly considering on restoring my iMac to Snow Leopard where I can take advantage of my peripherals.

  • Anyone have success doing Netboot service via Firewire??

    OS 10.5.8 Server on a Dual 2.3 Ghz G5...
    I tried but I could not get this to work!** I heard from an Mac server expert doesn't support this feature, they don't have detailed documentation for it and that the the firmware in macs are missing the components necessary to do netboot via firewire.
    Well if you have done Netboot over Firewire please respond and share your experience...
    Big thanks!!!
    **I set up DHCP service with the firewire port and tested it, my clients got IP's from the server via firewire connections
    -I set up Netboot to use the Firewire port
    -the netinstall image was set fine ( I tested my image with Netboot over ethernet to some test mac clients and it worked fine)
    ...but in the end I couldn't get it to work

    Hi
    I've not tried this and a reason for possibly trying it is because it offers faster access because of increased speeds in comparison to what's available via ethernet? Although if your network is gigabit there would not be much point in using it? A possibility as to why it might not be working is whether Apple's implementation of IPv4 and TCP/IP over IEEE 1394 supports UDP connections? TFTP uses UDP Port 69. I suppose you could compare the logs between successful netbooting via ethernet against failed netbooting via firewire.
    There may be a difference between the two? If there is you may have a chance of getting it to work?
    Tony

  • Anyone have success with schemas?

    Hi,
    All I want to know is if anyone has been able to succesfully use xml schemas using the oracle parser? If you have been able to create your own schema and get it working please take a minute to post a simple yes reply. It would make my day.
    Thanks, Bart ;)

    I figured out why I couldn't get the schema parser to work. I wasn't using the namespaces correctly.

  • Anyone have success recovering from a disk failure after turning on File Vault

    My wife is running at 13" Macbook Pro Late 2011/Early 2012 running OS 10.7.3.  I updated several Apple fixes and a firmware fix the other day for here.  I also activated her File Vault to encrypt her files when not in use.  She had some intermittent issues with slow startups yesterday and today I was forced to do a hard reboot.  Swirling pinwheel that didn't seem tied to any application and and Command/Alt/Esc did not work to force quite or even see if anythng was hanging.
    This morning I a was getting a white screen followed by a file with a question mark...I have attempted to use Command-R internet recovery feature in Lion and managed to it to start up so I can open Utlilities and see if there are issues with the disk.  It is showing a 500.11 GB Toshiba MK5065GSXF Media and not a Macintosh HD.  I am unable to Verify or Repar Permissions or the Disk as these are grayed out.
    Did she lose the hard drive?  What are my options here.  My wife - after I convinced her to use a Mac - has lost four hard drives in less than a year and is on here second system (the first one was replaced by Apple after she lost three hard drives!)
    Any chance this is an issue with File Encyrption?  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    5 days after I had recieved my mbp, my harddrive failed as well. I did try to reinstall the OS but with no luck. At some point during installation, it would stop telling me to try again. So I took it to the nearest technical service center and they confirmed the hd-failure and replaced it. this was the 80gig @ 5200rpm. but since you were able to reinstall the OS again, you should be fine. have you run the diskutility again?

  • Anyone have any luck getting a photo editing program for 10.9.1 ?  (other than iPHOTO / Aperature)

    I was using Elements 11 with Mountain Lion and that was OK but the reviews for Elements 12 compatability with 10.9 are all pretty bad.  The folks at Adobe claim that Elements 12 "can be installed" on 10.9.1 but they dont actually state that it  "works".   I'm just trying to avoid spending the big bucks for the full Photoshop program and Im not even sure that would work either.  I have this great new iMAC and cant play around with it yet. Suggestions ?

    I have used all of the following on Maversicks, with no issues at all:
    iPhoto
    Aperture
    Acorn
    Graphic Converter
    Intensify Pro
    Snapheal
    I've not seen any reports indicating any issues with other apps either. I would strongly echo Larry's comments about App Store reviews, and reviews on download sites and forums up and down the internet. The great thing about the internet is that everyone has an opinion, that might also be the worst thing.
    The problems with these comments are manifold: for a start, happy people are less likely to review, unhappy happy are much more inclined to. That's why we don't have thousands and thousands of posts on this forum from all the people who have no problems saying "look I have no problems". Unhappy people get cross and are more likely to express that anger in negative reviews.
    Then what about the reviewer? What is his or her knowledge, experience and skill level? No doubt they are having problems, and real ones, but how do you know if their issues are problems with the app, their own inexperience, third party conflicts and so on. I've seen people on here claim the fact that iPhoto won't edit video is a bug. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from folks on here who are certain they've found a bug, only for their glitch to be resolved. No review is worth anything unless you know something of the reviewer, his or her knowledge and experience.
    So frankly, I never bother with those reviews on any such stores, not just iPhoto on the Mac App Store.

  • Anyone have success using mergetrack to rename tracks?

    We have tried the Java API and some other test code to rename tracks using mergetrack. All of the other track metadata appears to be correctly editable except the track name. Have any of you been able to rename tracks without re-uploading files? If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Marc

    There is a current workaround for this problem.
    In your web service, use the <Title></Title> tags in place of the Name tags.
    The sample XML should look like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ITunesUDocument>
    <Version>1.0.1</Version>
    <MergeTrack>
    <TrackHandle>12345</TrackHandle>
    <Track>
    <Title>New Name Here</Title>
    <Handle/>
    <Kind/>
    <DiscNumber/>
    <DurationMilliseconds/>
    <AlbumName/>
    <ArtistName/>
    <DownloadURL/>
    </Track>
    </MergeTrack>
    </ITunesUDocument>
