Anyone having Bluetooth issues with mouse and keyboard with mountain lion?

Installed mountain lion yesterday and since the restart my bluetooth on my computer is not working properly and it says "bluetooth not available" Any ideas or suggestions on a fix.  I have already tried re installing mountian lion with no luck.

Did you try these steps? They worked for me and a couple other people:
1 - Turn on automatic login: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Click the lock to make changes > If Disable automatic login is checked, uncheck it > Pick your user account and password > Ok.
2 - Shut down your computer.
3 - Turn off your keyboard and mouse: For keyboard and wireless trackpad you hold the power button until the light goes off.
4 - Start your computer.
5 - Once your desktop has fully loaded turn the keyboard and mouse back on, everything should work.

  • How do I fix bluetooth connection between mouse and keyboard with iMac. iPhone won't connect to bluetooth either

Bluetooth on Mac os x won't work with keyboard, mouse or iphone.  Keyboard and mouse both have new batteries and go discoverable when switched on, i have gone into system setup and tried connecting.  It connects briefly with mouse then drops in and out of connection, keyboard does same, asking for passcode then no connection.  I'm lost... my phone can pick up keyboard, so i think it is bluetooth in mac.

    Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    Try re "pairing" the keyboard.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • Lost bluetooth pairing with mouse and keyboard

Less than 100 days out of the box, my iMac has lost the connection to both the keyboard and the mouse.
As of this afternoon, both devices have brand new batteries. When I turn them on, the light stays steady for a few seconds, then blinks, then goes off.
    Bluetooth is turned ON.
    "Discoverable" is checked.
I removed both devices from the list, thinking maybe they needed to be reinstalled. I am able to locate them, but keep getting messages like these:
"The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported."
"The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. Make sure your device is in range of this computer, turned on, and discoverable.
On a couple of attempts with the keyboard, I've gotten a message providing an 8-digit passcode which I'm supposed to input, but typing it on the keyboard doesn't do anything. I've tried adjusting that setting to not require a passcode, but that makes no difference.
(Funny, when I Craigslisted my old computer I had a hunch I'd better hang onto the mouse and keyboard; good thing I did, or I'd be completely out of commission at the moment.)

Thanks. I just re-set the PRAM and then tried reconnecting both devices as suggested. I'm still getting nothing. Both devices are now showing up under the bluetooth menu, but I can't connect to them ... not from that menu, not from Bluetooth preferences, and not from the keyboard/mouse preferences. And they're definitely turned on, with brand new batteries, and all within two feet of the computer.
Speaking of bluetooth preferences, could I have knocked them out of whack somehow? I see File Sharing Settings and Advanced Settings; what should actually be checked in them in order for this to work? Looks like I have System Preferences Version 7.0, running with OS 10.6.2. Under "Serial ports" I have only "Bluetooth-PDA-Sync" listed, Type RS-232, and that's checked on. There's another checkbox underneath what looks like a key icon, and that is NOT checked.

  • Airport interfering with mouse and keyboard?

This afternoon I moved our Airport and cable modem from our bedroom into my home office, where it now sits right next to my computer. Ever since I've had nothing but buggy problems with my mouse and keyboard. My mouse is wireless but the keyboard is connected via USB. Sometimes the keyboard won't work at all, sometimes the mouse won't work at all, and sometimes the mouse does funny things. For instance, when I click on an app icon in the dock instead of opening the app it opens a Finder window with the app selected, or it acts as if it's doing an option-click and gives me funny menus. Sometimes it just scrolls funny - once my Safari windows started flickering when I tried to scroll. The weirdest thing is my keyboard, which doesn't work at all 70% of the time. It's just a USB connection, not bluetooth, so I can't figure out why it would suddenly start misbehaving.
I'm really stumped, and getting very frustrated. I assumed that an Apple keyboard and mouse would play nice with an Apple Aiport base station, but maybe not. Is it possible the Airport is causing interference?

yes, it may be. If you can, try using a wired mouse, and change the channel on your
Airport, and the frequency, maybe check for interference robustness.  I have found that BluTooth on the Mac pro is not so good, so I went out and bought a usb plugin for BT, which sits at the front of my tower and helps with that.  Also, see if moving your Airport and modem further away helps things.  Oh, and try running disk Utilities, repair permissions and check for updates (it's worth a try). If you are using an aluminum keyboard, I think there was an update released just for that alone.....
see also if there is an update for your mouse's software, or what the buttons are set to open by default
    hopefully this helps

  • Apple TV, monitor use and lag time with mouse and keyboard

I purchased an Apple TV so that I could use one monitor to switch between my Mac Mini and my MacbookPro. The monitor is hardwired to the Mini, but the MacbookPro uses airplay. My wireless mouse and keyboard lag with this setup. Is there a way to fix this?

My contacts in Pyongyang and Interlaken tell me you have fallen in the abyss that "The Great Successor,” Kim Jong-un refers to when he goes to DisneyWorld. One is either ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’ never ‘helpful.’ However due to your Stalinist screen name, you’ve been awarded some slack.
I didn’t see a reference to even a clue on the Apple TV site regarding my traumatic technological problem. I’ll be contacting the Grack Granny Smythe force at Apple’s underground facility at La Junta, CO.
There will be a one way, non-stop, sleeper class Lockheed SR-71 waiting for you at Nantucket International if Tech Support for Apple TV denies that Apple TV exists any longer.

  • Apple Wireless mouse and keyboard with Windows on iMac Intel

    Hi there!
Is it possible to use the Apple Wireless mouse and keyboard on the iMac Intel running Windows XP?
My bluetooth setup assistant can't find any of them.
    Thanks!

Actually if You Use the wireless mouse during the setup for windows it works fine the only drawback it that using the wireless mouse on windows is that it drains the battery more quickly than Mac OS X does. So make sure you have extra batteries around

  • Bluetooth Trouble With Mouse and Keyboard

Symptoms of problem: Message indicating that mouse is not connected. Mouse becomes inoperable.
    Related clues:
After selecting "Browse Device" from the Menu Bar, Bluetooth icon, drop-down menu, the mouse is listed in the Browse Device window...the keyboard is not listed. The message "Searching for Devices - 0 Found", followed by "Found - 0 Devices" appears every few seconds.
When the Bluetooth icon in the System Preferences is selected, both the mouse and the keyboard are shown to be - On, Discoverable, Paired, and Connected.
There would seen to be nothing interfering with the signal, although I did enable a new 1.9 GHz wireless phone system just prior to experiencing the Mouse trouble.
    ???

So the first thing that I would do is disable the phone system and see if the issue goes away. If it does you most likely have your answer to the cause. However, BT is supposed to be confined to the license-free ISM band at 2.402-2.480 GHz which would seem to be well away from the phone's frequency.

  • I am having awful problems with mouse and trackpad after installing Lion

I have tried 3 different brands of mice and it happens with each one. the mouse clicks and sticks spontaniously and wont let go and hitting esc or trying to click somewhere else doesn't have any effect - it wont let go. And it doesn't seem to matter which program. At forst i thought it was just pwer point but it still happens if I command/tab over to mail or finder. and then I get the stupid wheel of death. power point (or whatever program I'm in) locks up. and then I lose recent edits.
I have a Mac book pro. I have use and external keyboard and monitor when I'm at my office.
When the problem has happened I have tried using the trackpad - but it's like it's dead. No click effect. No help!
I AM REALLY TRYING TO NOT GET ANGRY - BUT I AM READY TO SCRAP LION!!!!!!!!!!!
    HELP!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tip re MagicPrefs! Great app!
Is anyone having trouble with Mac losing the connection to Magic Mouse after the Mac goes to sleep? I am running Mac Mini late 2009 with dual-core 2.0 GHz and 4 GB RAM. Never had any issues under Snow Leopard, only after the upgrade to Lion. Battery is OK (tried fresh ones with no luck).
Turning the mouse off then on does not help, but ocasionally I have been able to get the mouse back by simply using Command+Tab. It does not seem to matter which app is active.

  • IMac not recognizing bluetooth nor USB mouse and keyboard

The iMac I use has suffered a pretty annoying problem. I typically use a wireless keyboard and magic mouse with the iMac (I could be wrong, but I believe these both use Bluetooth technology). First, the iMac stopped recognizing these. They kept losing connection last Friday and then suddenly stopped recognizing them at all. Yes, they both have full batteries and blink to show me they are on and searching for the iMac.
Second, I tried using a USB mouse and a USB keyboard to get into the iMac and fix the problem. But neither are recognized by the iMac as well. The mouse is a Dell model that has a red light on the bottom, and it glows red for less than a second when I plug it into the USB port before going dark again and not working. So, I can't get into the iMac to fix the problem.
I've read a few other things on the community boards. I restarted the iMac. I unplugged it completely for several minutes and held down the power button for fifteen seconds while the power was unplugged. I've tried multiple mice and keyboards, all to no effect.
Is the iMac not recognizing the USB keyboard/mouse because it's still searching for the bluetooth versions that it will no longer recognize? Is there a way to fix this without setting up an appointment with the geniuses?
    Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. It started happening on my Late 2012 model iMac 21.5" after applying the latest update.
What I found was that nothing seemed to work connected directly to the iMac. However, if you attach an externally powered USB hub, then all devices attached to the hub will work. It seems as if the USB ports are still working, but without power.
After I was able to get my USB keyboard to work, I was able to zap the PRAM (hold command-option-P-R while powering on) and then magically everything was back to working again. Unfortunately, this was short lived as the problem has resufaced again for me today, but you could give it a try anyway.

  • Can I use my apple wireless mouse and keyboard with my Mac Mini and Windows PC?

Hello, I recently dug up a windows PC computer for side projects, and I was able to get by using my wireless apple keyboard and mouse for my Mac mini, and then using a usb mouse for my PC, I want to eliminate the usb keyboard and mouse and just use the bluetooth keyboard. Both computers are usually on all the time, and the windows PC uses a bluetooth adapter. I can get my keyboard and mouse to work on both, but I have to sync them to whatever system I would like everytime I want to use it. Is there any solution that when I choose the Mac Mini my keyboard and mouse will work for the Mac mini, and when I choose my windows pc, the keyboard will only be used on windows without having to resync?

    To my knowledge, no.

  • Sudden strangeness with mouse and keyboard

I know this is a commonly talked about topic but I feel my case may be a bit different. I have the same jittery mouse problem as well as the display not turning on like everybody. Strangely though, I've had no problems at all since I went to 10.5.2. I think I went two weeks without restarting. All of a sudden though, it went haywire. I've had to restart three times today, after a clean streak of two weeks. If it keeps up I'm going to go crazy. Anybody know any newer fixes or details on this?
For the record I tried the whole turning the AirPort off trick and the mouse jumping was even worse than normal, so it's not that.

Having issues as well with the pointer. It jumps, stutters, jitters. Whatever you want to call it. I have tried a wired Mighty Mouse and just bought a wireless Mighty Mouse this weekend. Still having issues. I have even tried to use just the trackpad with no mouse, same problem. Tried repairing disk permissions with disk utility. The only thing that seems to work is a restart...for a while. I was having wake-from-sleep issues before 10.5.2, then everything seemed to work fine for a few weeks. Now the jitters.
    Any ideas?

  • Connection Problems with iMAP and Mail in Mountain Lion

    Hi everybody,
since the Update on Mountain Lion I am having the following problem:
When my iMac wakes up after some time, Mail isn't working anymore by showing the triangle with the exclamation mark. By clicking on it it shows the following picture (sorry for being in german). What you see is, that the internet connection works fine but Mail says it cannot connect to the iCloud iMAP Server. I should check if iCloud supports SSL and if it does not, deactivate it...
After closing Mail an reopening it again, everything works fine until the next episode of waking up...
    Any hints??
    Thanks!!
    Stefan

If you do, I highly recommend wiping the harddrive and doing a clean
install. An upgrade install, especially from two versions back is going
to be nothing short of a crapshoot.
Deactivate any software before doing so.

  • Problem with backlight on keyboard. Mountain Lion.

    Hi 2all.
I have some problem. I have MacBook Pro (early 2011), i7. Some days ago I upgrade my MacBook OS to Mountain Lion (clean install). In Snow Leopard I can turn off the backlight of keyboard, and then it will be off. If I need it, I turn it on. But now I have another situation. I turn off my backlight, but after log off user, or restart MacBook backlight of keyboard turns on... Whats happen?!
    Thx fo help.
    Best regards,
    Kyros.

Lab Tick is a shareware menu item that gives you complete control over the keyboard backlight. You can set the level of illumination by hand, and electively disable automatic adjustments made by the OS.

  • Buy new computer with Yosemite and downgrade to Mountain Lion?

Is it possible to buy a new machine with Yosemite and instead somehow downgrade/revert to Mountain Lion?  There's a program I like to use that is no longer updated by the developer and isn't terribly stable on the latest two releases of OS X...

No, except by running it inside a program such as VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, or VMware Fusion.
