Anyone having problems getting iBooks to download on new iPad?

The iBooks icon appears, but there is an empty bar below it, like the app hasn't loaded, or is paused.
I've restarted iPad, and everytime there are updates, iBooks is listed. But it never loads.
I get the message "Unable to Download Applications "iBooks" could not be downloaded at this time.
I see variations of this question, but none with my exact problem (that I can see).

Instead of using Safari to use mail, try using the built in Mail app. To access your AOL account, go to Settings->Mail->AOL.
That is, if you are using Safari to access AOL.

Lacking any responses to my initial post above, I will briefly update how I resolved this issue today.
Installed new external hard disc, 1 TB WD My Passport for Mac, and straightforward setup involving first installing current OS X operating system, then system migrator utility to rebuild the same setup as saved in latest Time Machine backup. The whole process was somewhat time consuming due to my internet connection speed and USB data transfer speeds but it went without any issues. The computer now boots up and operates identical in all respects to how it did before the problem occurred.
Regarding the internal HD of my iMac, if I now run Disc Utility to verify the disc, it reports "appears to be OK". However, viewing the disc usage in "About This Mac" window, it displays as entirely empty. Opening it in the finder also shows only a "Apple Hot News.mbox" file and a single .jpeg image, and .nothing else.
Interestingly, the Bootcamp partition of my iMac's internal HD continues to work fine and appears unaffected by the problem. I use bootcamp rarely but still will plan to set up a replacement bootcamp volume on the new hard disc soon, in order to take its place.
That the problem surfaced coincident with the software update may have been nothing more than bad luck? At this point I have no reason to suspect that the softward update had anything to do with the difficulties.

For me, it's working fine on current generation iPads, so I sense that your using iPad 2 may be the reason.
Personally, I've been moving away from typing while using the iPad. Initial searches, if possible, are done with Siri. If I'm looking up something with Safari, Google, or Bing, I begin by speaking the search. I only "type" in a query when the search is obscure.

SIM not provisioned usually means that the 3G service has not been set up yet. Have you set up the service through the settings menu?

Anyone having problems getting Photoshop CC14 to work with Lightroom 5.5?

I installed Photoshop CC 2014, but Lightroom wouldn't export photos to it. Spent 3hours on the phone with Adobe support, they wiped all my Adobe apps without warning me and I lost all my presets. Was told higher level support would contact me - didn't happen. System still not fixed, even after an hour trying to get to the right person today. I've never had a problem installing before - anyone else having a similar issue? Who do I contact for better "customer service" (or does it exist)?

Thanks for your reply! I've installed PS many times (since version 3, I think), and nothing like this has ever happened. I use and teach PS and LR for a living. The tech person I spoke with told me it is not unusual to have this happen when upgrading to CC 2014.
What happened is that PS CC2014 would not open the image in PS if I used the Photo>Edit In>PS 2014 command unless I used Photo>Edit In>Open as Smart Object. Once opened as a smart object, PS would not save the file. I think it said Error 2.
The tech took control of my computer, removed PS and LR and all the associated files a few times. He told me I'd have to have a high level person help me, but they didn't call me, so I phoned in. After waiting an hour to get to the correct person (not a high level tech) he said he'd have to uninstall everything again and start over and that it would take over an hour. I don't have the time right now to fix it as I'm headed out of town until the end of the month to teach LR.
In the meantime, LR works, but I'm using a trial version that expires in 30 days. It exports to PS ok, but I had to reload all my plug-ins, and apparently LR can't find Photomatix. LR is not installed in my usual applications folder - the tech put it on my system backup drive.

Same problem here with and I've done everything shy of a total reset which I also find unacceptable. This problem exists on all iMessage platforms (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) so I don't see how restoring my iPhone would help the problem.

file downloaded fine but keep getting error message that installation cannot be completed.

I first went through the nightmare of updating to version 8.1, which took a couple of hours. I am still not sure how I did it. But recently with update 8.1.1, I had to do a factory reset and then reinitialize the iPad and then restore over 300 apps from the cloud. It was a royal pain, just like the update to version 8.1 but even more extreme this time with a factory default.
Unless Apple gets its act together I am gravitating towards a non-Apple tablet. I have already done so with my iPhone moving to an Android, which after the learning curve, I love.
The best advice I can give to anyone is to do a complete backup to the cloud before attempting an update. Apple seems not to be able to get its act together anymore.

Check MacUpdate for compatible applications, and ensure that you go to the developer's website for the actual downloads.

I have had the same problem but I seem to be getting somewhere to fixing it!!! My battery was going down at 20% an an hour now its 10% with constant use and 5 in standby !!! So improvement all round
First I did a restore then I drained the battery i started to charge it and when it came on I turned the phone off completely and let it charge to 100% I then left it for a couple of hours on charge at 100. I saw no improvement after 1st drain so I repeated the drain battery and charge steps again with the phone turned off when charging and have seen a very big improvement. I am going to do it again tonight and hopefully problem solved!!!!
The next issue is iMessage as that's playing up and wifi drop out

Do you do any kind of sync'ing between your iPhone and iTunes on your computer? There seem to be a number of major bugs in Apple's code (either in in the Podcasts app, or in iTunes, or in Apples server-side code, or some combination of the three). Many people are having this issue. In fact, it's hard to believe that anyone isn't, if they're sync'ing their iPhone with iTunes.

If what you mean by "iCloud mail" your [email protected] account, you should be able to get that in icloud.com via any web browser on any *computer.*
Your mail is accessed on your iPhone/iPod Touch via the Mail app. You CAN access your mail via Safari on the iPad, but I wouldn't do it that way; I'd just load your account into Mail like you do on the iPhone.

With third party applications like these, it sounds like you have taken all the necessary steps to work to resolve this. My additional suggestions would be to try uninstalling and reinstalling the application itself. If that does not fix it, you can visit the Google Play Store and submit feedback to the developer of the application itself.

Anyone having problems lately uploading music purchased from amazon onto your ipods? this is a recent experience for me. I had been able to do it until a few weeks ago.

There have been a handful of report over the last couple of weeks for other users who have starting getting error messages when trying to sync their Amazon purchases to their iPod from iTunes.
Most of them are getting a -50 error. If that is the case for you, see this older thread for a couple of solutions that worked for some other users.
