Anyone having problems installing a fresh copy of Windows 7?

Yeah, so I've been doodling in my spare time with my MSDN access and decided to build that dev environment I've been trying to build for quite some time. Be prepared for quite a read!
I pull out a bunch of used gear. Set it all up and start the process of installing the management PC.Install bucks twice and canned the hard drive. Then the DVD drive burns up. I go the thumbdrive route and use the MS Tool to dump the ISO onto it and make it bootable.Install zooms at a breakneck pace now and everything is going as it should. Windows 7 Enterprise comes up to the desktop and immediately screams it wants a windows update.I open WU and it's got the usual "You gotta update the updater meng!". I oblige and initiate the update as service pack 1 is already established. It churns for 5 minutes, comes back and says it has updates available. I see...

Think "Internet" and "history" and you're more likely to think about the list in your browser that tracks the sites you've visited than a Russian satellite. But a new infographic released by home security company Vivint (see below) helps you think a bit bigger about the topic -- laying out nearly 60 years of the history of the Internet, beginning with the launch of Sputnik in 1957.You might not have thought that the first satellite to orbit Earth had much to do with the Internet, but it pretty much directly led to the creation of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in America -- mostly because we were spooked by what Russia had been able to do.ARPA eventually created a data-sharing system between universities called ARPANET and that pretty much led to the selfie-sharing, cat-video-filled Internet we have today....Read More

  • I am having problems installing an oem copy of windows 8 pro on my 2012 mbp.

I used boot camp to create a windows partition. Once i started the windows install process and format the drive, the installer says that windows cannot use the partition because it is not a gpt partition. I have followed and reviewed the boot camp manual, but there is no troubleshooting guide to resolve the issue. Any assistance would be apreciated.
    Regards.

Found it in the threads, use the windows option when booting, not the efi. I tried this when trying to install the frist time, but the windows installer did notmload properly. Should have known to try it again, but at least windows 8 is installed and working now.

  • Anyone having problems installing 8.1.1 on iPad2?

Anyone having problems installing 8.1.1 on iPad 2?
file downloaded fine but keep getting error message that installation cannot be completed.

I first went through the nightmare of updating to version 8.1, which took a couple of hours. I am still not sure how I did it. But recently with update 8.1.1, I had to do a factory reset and then reinitialize the iPad and then restore over 300 apps from the cloud. It was a royal pain, just like the update to version 8.1 but even more extreme this time with a factory default.
Unless Apple gets its act together I am gravitating towards a non-Apple tablet. I have already done so with my iPhone moving to an Android, which after the learning curve, I love.
The best advice I can give to anyone is to do a complete backup to the cloud before attempting an update. Apple seems not to be able to get its act together anymore.

Yeah.  I remember when I had that board.  I found the best SATA ports were the Promise ones, but...
What do you think, Tiresmoke?  You had the same board too if I'm not mistaken.

  • Anyone having problems installing Amped ACA1 - hi speed wifi (AC)?

I have a MacBook Pro Retina from summer, 2012.  Running current 10.8.4 version .
I have been waiting for the fast AC wifi to come out, and finally it is here on the new time capsule / router.
As an upgraded card from N to AC wifi is not available from Apple, I bought the brand new Amped wifi USB adapter.  It is ACA1 model. All of the documentation states it fully supports Mac and Windows and also lists all the version of Mac 104, 5, 6, 7, 8.  I loaded the drivers, install not a problem.  made sure the airport card was turned off.  then plugged in the adapter and it was not recognized under Network screen.  it would not even load the Utility that is included with the install disc.  nothing.  I called Amped tech support, they had a theory that perhaps it was a bad adapter.  i returned the product to Amazon and they overnighted me another one.
Second adapter, same problem.  the installation goes well.  but then it will not recognize the adapter when it is plugged in and the Utility will not open.
I tried uninstall and reinstall many, many times.  I tried all of the USB ports.  I checked all of the connections, cables, etc.  nothing.  I called tech a second time and told them of the problem.  They said it would be escalated to a senior tech, but their programmers are in China.  I am giving them a few days for the senior tech to call me back and see if there is a work around or if others have complained (brand new product, i think it has been on sale for ten days now).  If not, i am returning the product back to amazon and wait for them to come out with an updated software to fix this bug.
I am trying to find out if others have the same problem.  Has anyone tried the new Amped ACA1 new AC wi fi adapter to work with a AC router on a macbook pro???

  • Anyone having problems installing Boot Camp with New Mac Pro 2.8?

I just get blank screen after it restarts with XP disk. I'm using a vga - dvi adapter with a apple 17" display..
I've phoned apple and read up on here but nobody seems to know. I just wondered whether my 2008 Mac Pro was faulty...
    Please can you help?
    cheers

Are you getting a white screen after the Mac reboots? If so, try disconnecting all non-essential USB/FW devices.
I had the exact same problem and I went through a long, stressful process of elimination to get it working, even to the extent of using my MacBook as an external drive through target disk mode!
It turned out to be my iMage USB camera. Even after successfully installing Windows I have to disconnect it before using Bootcamp.
    I Hope this helps.

  • Having problems installing Acrobat X Pro on Windows 7.

When the installation is about to end, I get the following:
    Has anyone experienced this issue?
I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

    Hi LosBashBrothers,
To investigate about this issue, installation logs help in a great way. Can you please share the installation log for this session ?
To create installation logs, enable Windows Installer logging yourself. Open the registry with Regedit.exe and create the following path and keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    Reg_SZ: Logging
    Value: voicewarmupx

  • Anyone having problems 875 XP RAID install READ THIS!

I was having problems installing windows XP on my new 875P Neo FIS2R Board using a 2 disk SATA RAID 0 Array. A breif run down on my system:
    MSI 875P Neo FIS2R
    P4 3.0 800MHz
    1.0 GB DDR400
    2x Segate SATA 120GB
    PNY QuadroFX 1000 AGPx8
    Swiftech H20-8500PV Watercooling sys.
    and misc. other crap
So, I was all ready to install XP, even got as far as the first reboot after formating and copying files, when after I rebooted I got an error mess. -
"Windows could not start because of a computer hardware disk configuration problem.
Could not read from selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."
After trying numerous configurations of the HDD's and BIOS I came to the conclusion that was not the prob. After loading the XP recovery console i could see that the files were successfully copied to the Striped RAID 0 Array i had set up. Opening up the boot.ini file in the root of c:\ I saw this:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
Now, having had to trouble shoot multi-boot systems i knew a little about the boot.ini file. The "rdisk(x)" field was troubling me because it points the computer to the physical disk with the os on it, and it said rdisk(1) which actually refers to the 2nd disk not the first. So I changed the boot.ini to read:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
    * note i changed the rdisk field to "rdisk(0)"
Mind you that I had to first install XP to an IDE drive to be able to access the boot.ini file on the RAID Array unless you can do it in the recovery console, I was unable to. Also, you must remove the "read only" attribute on the boot.ini file to be able to save it; don't forget to change it back.
After I changed the boot.ini I shutdown the comp. and disconnected the IDE drive I had used to access the RAID Array and rebooted. Sure enough, the damn thing booted right up and continued the install!!! Woot!
Anyway, I don't exactly know where the problem is generated but this is a work around that worked for me. I know at least 6 people have posted here w/similar problems so i thought that this might help.

  • How do I install a fresh copy of WinXP SP on Protege 2000

I have this P2000 since a month, which has a running version of Windows XP Professional. As it had encountered problems and frequent crashes and delayed reboot and gotten to become slow to a point where booting it up to see the windows desktop seems like an achievement.
I took the necessary back up, and now am planning to install a fresh copy. I burned a Bootable CD containing to set up files and tried booting the P2000 with an USB-CD/DVDROM. I even changed the bios setting to boot from the CD-ROM, and yet it fails to boot. It says some error.
My HDD is MK2003GAH 1.8 inch.
The CD-RW/DVD Drive is H.L Data Storage Model No. GCC-4241N TYPE GYGO REV. SO FW:OP34
    Intel(R) Boot Agent Version 4.0.10
    Copyright(C
PXE-E61: Media test failure, Check Cable
    PXE-MOF: Existing Intel PXE ROM.
and proceeds to load windows XP for more than 25 minutes and restarts again.
Yes, I read through a couple of threads on how one could use a PCMCIA and all. But I am clueless. Please Help.
    Thank you.
    Samir

    the problem is :
1 : the bios of your portege only recognizes a few CDrom devices
2 : the installation procedure of Windows XP doesn't know how to cope with the external CDrom devices
the only way is to go back to a DOS environment ( fat32 ) and load the proper drivers for your USB-CDrom from a floppy-disk and than start the DOS-installation of XP ( winnt.exe )

  • Just completed a clean install of CS6 Photoshop on my Yosemite Mac Book Pro and the Adobe Application Manager does not work and cannot install a fresh copy from Adobe

Just re-installed a fresh copy of CS6 Photoshop on my Yosemite Mac Book Pro and somehow the Adobe Application Manager does not work and therefore cannot verify my copy.  What should I do?
I get a message saying that Adobe Application Manager may be damaged and that I should install a new version of AAM.  But after downloading a fresh copy of AAM and doing the install, the program (AAM) still will not install.  It is like an infinite loop!
    Please, someone help!
    Thanks!

    HI gener7!
I'm sorry but I am not on Creative Cloud.  I'm still on CS6 and it was the Adobe Application Manager that wasn't working and I could not install the update to this application.  My AAM version is:  8.0.0160
The link you provided was the update that I wanted to install but it does not work.  A window shows up during that install that says:
    We've encountered the following issues.
Installer failed to initialize.  Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.
and then the link to the Adobe Support Advisor which leads to a "Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued" page.
    Thanks!

  • I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

I'm having problems installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.
The problem is right at the end of installation, it (the Install Shield Wizard) says status is registering and then immediately does an action rollback.
    The message I get is:
'The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run the installation again.'
If anyone can offer some help, please, that would be great.
    Thanks.

  • Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe flash player on a MacBook Pro?

Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe flash player on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5?

Thanks for your help here is what I did so far!
I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it, I've tried restarting my browser, then my MacBook Pro without any success!
When I click on the Apple in the upper left hand corner and open System Preferences I can see Adobe Flash Player on the bottom under the Other section.
If I open Adobe up and check the version it tells me that I have the most recent version!
I even uninstalled Adobe and installed the newest Beta version, but Adobe is still not working! If I check for the latest version it tells me that I do have the latest beta version, but it still doesn't work!
If the person who made the video used any other video player it works!
Their player, plays the video without a problem!
