Anyone here use the Camera / Framing behavior?

I have a project with a few video clips in a 3d group. When I set one of the clips as the target of a camera's framing behavior, it doesn't frame the target. Rather, something waythehell off in z space. Sometimes the framing does catch the right target, but on export or re-opening the file it won't be aligned. These framing behaviors are assigned to one camera, not overlapping in the timeline. Bug or human error?

I can't be exactly sure this is your problem (not enough info,) but I have been able to recreate the problem you're describing, somewhat.
Here's the deal -- Framing behaviors need to be "discreet". By this, I mean they should not overlap each other. If you have 2 or more framing behaviors on 2 or more clips (which play at the same time, or IN the same time) and they all exist for the entire durations of the clips, Motion is going to try to do them all at once... and that can lead to the middle of space sometimes ( ) [cross-positioning leads to averaging of values].
Anyway, the other thing that has to happen is that the framing behaviors must be stacked in order, the lowest occuring earliest and the highest to be the last.
You can use I and O to create trim points for just the behaviors and slide them into the time positions at which they need to start.
Once all the framing behaviors are separated into their own "time" and stacked in order of "play" then all your framing problems should resolve.
The thread you referenced has nothing to do with any of this, and if that was an issue in a former release of Motion (version 4 judging by the date), it seems to have been fixed (default transition is set to Constant now and seems to work quite well.)

I am in the middle of a project where I have to display a linear graph chart which presents the results from a simulation. After som searching I decided to use Cewolf (Chart Enabling Web Object Framework).

I am considering purchasing an i phone. There is some confusion about when and where it will be available from in the UK. There are rumours that it will be exclusive to one provider. I currently use Vodafone over here. Would it be possible to buy an i phone from the USA and use the Vodafone sim card over here?

I can understand your confusion in the UK since there has been no official word on its availability and which provider will provide it. Vodafone seems to be one of the front runners. I'm sure there will be one exclusive provider in the UK too but then again who knows at this point.
One thing for certain is that a US iPhone is exclusively locked to ATT so it will not work in the UK on another provider. So you are SOL till it is released in the UK.

Anyone here use the nike+ running app with the ipod touch?

i just got the new ipod touch 5g and wanted to get the nike+ running app because it's free, the alternate would be nike+ sensor is $20 extra.
so i wanted to know:
1. how accurate the nike+ running app is in term of recording distance? since i don't have the iphone i wont be able to use the gps function and im not sure if that'll be affecting the distance measurement.
2. how accurate is the speed tracker? same as above, since the ipod doesn't have a gps function.
3. in the setting for the app, what does it mean to reset calibration?

i just used it for the first time. it recorded that i ran for 2.5 miles, i went home and checked an online map and i only actually ran 2.03 miles. if i calibrate it, will my future runs be more accurate? also, what if one day i decide to run at a different pace or i walk a lot more, will this affect the distance recorded?

Anyone here using the Fling joystick on their ipad 2?

I am trying to find out whether or not the Fling joystick will stick to the screen if I have a screen protector on it.

This is a corollary to, why buy a Mac when you can get a cheaper Windows PC at Wal-Mart. So why did we buy a Mac? Ease of use, reliability, the cool factor, it just works.
I'd dispute the 1/2 price of .Mac idea - I've had to deal with some of the lowball outfits and there are lots of reasons to stay away from them, but sure, I can get a decent service with lots more space and more email addresses for $75 or so.
I have an email address that is at least as reliable as my ISPs and since I seem to change ISPs every couple of years it is nice to have an email address (with aliases) that I don't change frequently. (Yes, I know about Google and I have one.) I can sync my address book and several other applications between my several computers. (Yes, I know there are other solutions but .Mac syncing just works.) I have webmail with an address book that is synced to my computer that I can use when I'm not sitting at my own computer. I have a convenient place to store a few files if I want to move them from one computer to another. It is convenient for posting pictures for family and friends to see.
Why do I use .Mac? For the same reason I use a Mac. For the same reason I let someone else take care of my landscaping, change my oil, and groom my dog. Convenience.

Is anyone here using the Aperture to pBase export plugin?

And figured out how to make it work without crashing? What a great little plug in and timesaver! I just wish I could get it to work without crashing Aperture every time I try to export even one photo. Maybe I need to switch to another photo site....... I hate to do that as I have years of photos on pBase.

I'm with you, and bringing this conversation to the forefront, Aperture 2 and export to PBase still aren't cooperating as of today (Jan 22, 09).
Really now... I'm thinking of joining PBase, but no way if I have this much difficulty exporting.

I used to send photos from my Lumix Tz-40 camera directly to my iPad using the cameras WIFI. Since I installed IOS7 the connection no longer works. Anyone got any ideas. I have already installed the latest version of Panasonic's Image App (1.7.1)

I used to send photos from my Lumix Tz-40 camera directly to my iPad using the camera's WIFI. It was all working well until I installed IOS7. The connection no longer works. The camera still keeps the iPad in its connection history. The camera's wifi network still appears when I select a WiFi network from the iPad but the Wifi status icon never appears on the iPad. So the connection is never made.
Anyone got any ideas. I have already installed the latest version of Panasonic's Image App (1.7.1)

You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

D800 file compatibility: Has anyone experienced problems with loading D800 files onto the iPad using the camer connector kit? I have tried both RAW and JPEG using SDHC and CF cards and the iPad(3) doesnt recognise any of the files.

Has anyone experienced problems with downloading Nikon D800 files to the iPad3 using the camer connector kit? I have tried .RAW and JPEG (of various sizes) on both SD and CF cards, but the iPad doesn't recognise the files.
I have seen various forums discussing Lightroom and PSE updates that are required to process .NEF files but I can't find anything on the iPad/camera connector issue.
I dont have any problem if I put the SD card straight into the SD slot in my iMac and Aperture will process the files fine, but I would really like to be able to download and view files on the move on the iPad.
Any advice appreciated?
PS - saw something that suggested the iPad had a maximum file size of 16mb for photos, not sure if this is correct, but I have tried smaller JPEG files and they still aren't recognised.

If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.
If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again.
Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.

Is anyone successfully using Digieffects Camera Mapper with CS5

I greatly want to use Digieffects Camera Mapper with After Effects CS5 in Windows 7..

But it keeps crashing my installation of After Effects.
I'm using the demo CS5 version downloaded from the DigieEffects website. Digieffects support says the demo version works the same as the paid version (except for the watermark.). No problem there -- if I can get the demo version to work then I will buy it.
Digieffects support says it works fine with their Windows 7 CS5 installation of After Effects.
I went so far as to completley reinstall windows and reinstall CS5 master collection. But after all that work I get the same crash.
We are talking about a clean install of Windows 7 and a clean install of the CS5 master collection with nothing else installed on the computer.
And I keep getting the crash.
So my question here, is anyone succesfully using Digieffects Camera Mapper with CS5. Are there any tips that I should know of. Please look at my screen captuers of the steps I take which end up in a crash.
As I said this is a new (just a few hours old) installation of Windows 7 Professional and a new (just a few hours old) installation of CS5 Master Collection. No other plug-ins or programs installed.

I'm sorry to say I have not heard from Digieffects regarding Windows 7 CS5 compatibility with Camera Mapper.
It is strange because I've had at least one phone call from them, and then a few weeks ago they said they confirmed there was a problem and their engineer was working on it, and I should expect to receive an update of the plug-in that works with Windows 7 CS5.
Since then I haven't heard a peep, even though I sent them 2 follow up support requests.
In my case I was testing a demo, but Digieffects support said the demo was the same as the non-demo version (except for the demo watermark).
Below is a link to Digieffects' compatibility page which shows that Camera Mapper is compatible with CS5.

Their silence on this issue, after their assurances to me that a fix is eminent, is baffling.

The iChat application will allow that.
If you have a .mac account, then you can use that as your ichat user id and password, otherwise you can also use AIM - go here to create a user id and password and then enter them into iChat (remember to specify that it's an AIM account)..

Flash Player 10 crash once i give it the permission to use the camera

I'm using a videoconference service using Flash Player 10, and when i want to turn on the cam, it ask me to
give the permission to Flash Player to use the camera.
Each time i click the ALLOW button, Internet Explorer hang (I've tried with Google Chrome, i get an error too).
Here's the Error Signature that i get...

The error is always the same, and happen at the same moment.
It work just fine with my Dynex 25$ camera.
But when i try to use my Samsung HMX10A camera with a capture device (ADS Tech VideoXPress), i always get this error.
This device work just fine with other applications... but everytime i use a Flash application, bam! It crash.
Does anyone have an idea? How to solve this problem? Is there a list of SUPPORTED CAMERA DEVICES for Flash Player 10? (I've seen a list of completely outdated v6 only on this web site).

I haven't tried videos on my camera yet. Do you use the Videos App to play them? I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format. You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion. <HandBrake> Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera. I don't know of another Video App that might work.

When using the camera, the odd time the screen will go purple and the phone would freeze?

I went to take a picture today, when I did the screen went purple and the phone froze for about 15 seconds. It worked fine for about 10 mins then I got another error "NO SIM CARD INSTALLED". Has anyone else had these issues, and what are  doing to sort them out!?

Thanks for the reply, I actually did that and the phone is working again but is that it or will it be a recurring issue? Plus the purple error when using the camera is very annoying, considering how much the phone is!

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.
