Anyone here??

what's with this forum? does anyone support it??
Anyway, for the second time posting,
I just installed an evaluation copy of Weblogic Server 6.0.
I downloaded Weblogic jDriver for Informix.
In the installation instructions, it tell me to setup a connection pool by
adding an entry to the weblogic.properties file.
I've done a search in my weblogic directory, and there is no such file. Do I
have to create it myself?
Where is it?

aah...i see..the documentation for Installing WebLogic jDriver for Informix
is outdated.
ok...I thought it was kinda weird to edit a file for setting up a connection
pool. I'll go through
the console.
thanks.

I hear you.
There is no such file 'weblogic.properties' in weblogic 6.0. The file is
replaced with config.xml. You setup a connection pool through the
administration console , http:\\localhost:7001/console. You will be
prompted with a user name and password. The user name is 'system' and
the password is the password you specified during installation.
Good luck.

I just bought a recertified Mac Mini core duo - it's not the newer model-, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it  and using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.
The company I bought it from is not Apple, and I may regret that. It was in my price range, though.
This is the first time I've used this community, and I've been a Mac owner since 2000. Thanks in advance!

when you say "Mac flat screen LCD", do you mean this:

  • Is there anyone here that works for itunes support?

is there anyone here that works for itunes support?
I have waited for 39 hours for a response from support team with no reply.  I can get any of my credit cards to be accepted with itunes.  Somthing is wrong on apples side of things..been to apple store and they could not help either.  this is crappy.  I am one of the biggest apple fans but this is one side of apple that really *****.  CAN'T TALK TO A LIVE HUMAN FROM ITUNES?  Give me a break.

I agree completely endive!  I've been fighting for days trying to get some help with a technical problem and apparently, you can't get help from Apple without paying out the nose.  The problem I'm having is due to an update they recommended which I installed and now have no sound in itunes!
I too love Apple products.  I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, their customer service after the sale!  The are just as bad as Microsoft.

  • Anyone here make a living with Photoshop?

Does anyone here make a living with PS (or close to it)? I don't really mean in combination with anything else (like a graphics arts degree, or "I use it along with these six other programs I'm an expert in, too").
From what I'm gathering, relying solely on PS for income would leave one starving, and I understand that an employer - if one isn't a freelancer - would want an employee to have multiple areas of expertise.

I'm 53 now so that made me 38 when I started using Ps. Not that far off from where you are today. All I can say is that it happened very gradually for me, first just playing around then trying to emulate what prepress houses were doing for my clients at the time on images I had shot, to finally doing small jobs myself, usually learning just enough at one time to figure out how to get that one project done.
Then after reading the early Real World books and later the Professional Photoshop series, I began to get a grasp of what it took to start to take on the responsibility of taking on projects where my contribution was a small part of a much larger budget - annual reports that cost a quarter million to print, large campaigns for public utilities that had billboards, busboards and ads all across L.A. I had to step up my game and not just be "as good" as those prepress and retouching houses that my clients used to use, I had to be significantly better. This involved not only being able to do anything they through at me but also saying yes when when they told me I could say no. It also involved learning as much as possible about digital color, digital color management and how to make digital images reproduce their best wherever and however the clients wanted to print. And that led to investment in hardware and software - tens or thousands of dollars in spectrophotometers and color management software that gave me a competitive advantage over my competition and tools that even though many print shops owned, very few knew how to use. It's that constant pushing forward and drive to improve your skills that keeps you interested in a very fascinating place in history.
There's room for anyone good, and even if you're just starting out, and somehow consider yourself mid-career, that's no reason to give up. Before you know it, you'll be able to offer services that others aren't willing to do for themselves and if you don't try to take on too much at once, you'll look back in a couple of years and ask yourself why you were so worried at the time.
There is so much more good information and better, less expensive tools readily available that it's easier today that ever before. Hell, I can remember participating in a Monday night live AOL chat where Chris Cox, the Adobe engineer was the guest and asking him when they were going to start supporting ColorSync and ColorSync profiles, to which he replied something on the order that that was not a very good direction to go in. My how things have changed.
I just finished what it probably one of the most difficult Ps jobs I've done to date - the 2010 Manhattan Wine Auction Poster - for Manhattan Beach, Ca. not Manhattan, NY. It really pushed the limits of my own capabilities, both in the actual shooting and certainly in the digital post production. Here's a link to their website which has the poster on the first page.
    http://manhattanwineauction.com/
This was every bit as hard as it looks but most importantly, involved another helicopter ride, taking the doors off a Robinson 44 and hanging out over the ocean. There were three bottles of wine involved in what you see here - a bottle of two buck chuck from Trader Joe's that I drilled a 1/4 inch vent hole in to facilitate a smoother pour, an opened $400 bottle of wine for the open neck and a full bottle so it wouldn't be too transparent - all blended together to form one perfect union. The splash was from a rubber ball dropped on a fishing line into a washtub full of wine colored Kool-Aid and then the concentric ripples from a can of Dust-Off compressed air shot into the same washtube, all photographed with the Canon 1DsMKIII and a 90mm Tilt-Shift lens with a Broncolor strobe that had a 1/7500th of a second flash duration to stop the action. I populated the pier with people from alternate aerial shots and finally used surfing shots from Body Glove for the three surfers at the bottom. The final file was prepped for printing at Lithocraft in Anaheim using a custom profile I made for their press and the printed piece looked as close to what I saw I my screen as anything else I have taken to press.

  • Does anyone here knows how to create a login page thru JDBC?

Anyone here knows how to create a login page which connect to database thru JDBC but not JDBC-ODBC bridge?

Hi..pls you'll do people here a great good if you could explain yourself better..!
Anyway if you are trying to connect to an Oracle Database you dont need the jdbc-odbc bridge as oracle provides a special driver for java applets/applications that is "the thin driver" and the "oci driver"..so if you are connecting to Oracle your connection will look like this:
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"); //not sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection ("blah blah, blah");
no need for the jdbc-odbc bridge.
I hope i've answered your question.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Apple offers a Barclay's VISA card that provides 6-12 months at 0% interest on your first purchase from Apple.  You can even sign up for the card & get approved at the same time that you place your order.
If your purchase is under $999 USD you get 6 months at 0% interest.  If more than $999 you get 12 months at 0% interest.  As long as you make the minimum payment on time every month you continue at 0% until the promotional period runs out.
Note: if any payment is late or you don't pay off the balance within the promotional period, you get charged all the interest that accrued from day one; as of today that rate is over 22%, so it is important to make all your payments on time and pay off of the full balance before the end of the promotional period.
Last year I applied for the card at the same time I ordered my iMac; got approved immediately; and then set up an automatic payment every month with Barclays so I wouldn't risk being late; and then I paid off the remaining balance 30 days before the end of the promotional period.  Everything went smoothly, Barclays' online system worked perfectly; they did not play any billing tricks nor did they ever spam me with junk promotions.  Recently they offered another 12 months at 0% financing, so it's not just a one time offer!
Your profile doesn't say where you are located, so if you are outside the USA you will need to check the Apple website for your country to see if there is a similar financing offer in your location.

  • Steadicam, does anyone here use one?

I was looking at a particular videographers work and niced he had extremely stead video and was obviously using a steadicam (of some type).
Does anyone here have one? Is it worth the hassle? Does it look, just, too awful in a wedding scenario?

You may find getting in and out of the vest / arm a little tedious at a wedding shoot. An option is the Steadicam Merlin which is handheld, a vest and arm are about to be released (or have just been released) to suit the Merlin and you could bye this at a later date. It's nice to have the option though of going without the vest and arm. Be aware though that long shots can be quite strenuous using these small handheld rigs.
Tip, if you do decide to purchase a vest mounted version and you usually wear a formal jacket when working weddings, wear the vest under your jacket.
You may also like to do a workshop before you buy. This will give you some idea about whether it's worth buying and if it is you'll learn a lot. If not you haven't bought an item you can't use and you have the experience to rent and use one on special occasions.
If you are in the USA Peter Abrahams << <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.steadicamflyer.com/ >> runs workshops and sells Flyers.

  • Does anyone here use Network Solutions? (shared hosting)

I've been attempting to link to my mySQL database through the Dreamweaver interface for the purpose of writing web-based applications. I consistently get an error that indicates that some problem exists but is not specific. A colleague suggested that permission set on the mySQL server might not allow REMOTE accept to the database schema. I called Network Solutions and got a somewhat tenuous reply that perhaps their shared hosting services won't allow me to use Dreamweaver in this fashion.
Does anyone here actually use Network Solutions (in other than a VPS-mode) and is successful in connecting to their mySQL database?
(NOTE: I am able to get the phpMyAdmin application running on the Network Solutions server to connect and display the contents of the database. But the mySQL GUI applications connect and give some information but to date have not allowed me to the see the full extent of the databse information the way phpMyAdmin does.)
Any suggestions for which ISPs do allow a successful connection would be appreciated. I am told too that many folks run a local version of PHP/mySQL on their Macs (which is what I am using) and do their work locally. Has this been the predominate mode of working for most of you?

generally most people use a local testing server to do their work.  the easiest way to do this on your mac is MAMP. http://www.mamp.info/en/downloads/index.html
Although macs do come ready to support php/mysql, it will make you're life much easier using mamp.  simply start it up and apache php mysql are all ready to rock.  test your pages in the htdocs folder and connect to mysql using the localhost connection (and make sure you pay attention to the ports... use 3306 if confusion sets in).
as for connecting remotely to a database, yes it can be done... i do it all the time with my hosting (that is not NS), and you're have to do it that way if you're working on a sql server database / asp from your mac.  but for now, i'd just work locally.

  • Does anyone here use a Novation Nocturn with Logic 8?

    Hi there!
Does anyone here have a Novation Nocturn and use Logic 8?
If so, how am i supposed to get Logic to record the modulation from the Nocturn? I've written a synth line using an automapped instance of V-Station and when I play it back it will respond to changes (e.g. opening the filter) from the Nocturn. Then I arm the track and record whilst moving the Nocturn's knobs....again, i can hear the changes, but when i play it back none of the modulation has been recorded.
Logic must be receiving some sort of data because, when recording, it'll start drawing a box on the event window as a twiddle the knobs....but this just vanishes after I press stop.
Any ideas? The Nocturn seems like a great piece of kit, but it's completely useless to me unless I can record modulation from it.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Anyone here have good experience with iPhone compatible Ip Cameras?

    Hi
i wanted to know if anyone here actually owns a decent camera they can recommend with a iPhone that records to SD remotely or when motion detection is activated (remotely), has night vision, an zoom tilt or simply works so good and you can use a few at the same time.
i tried a few lower end linkseys and d-links models as well as rimax fixed and wireless models, all which where a mess to set up since the software was written for PCs and some only ran on internet Explorer which does not exist on mac osx any more.
    So please let me know
    Cheers

How does working in wide screen seem when you want full pages?
I have a Dell 20+ (24", I think) at the office. It is 9:16 ratio and a delight to use with InDesign. I regularly compose with binding in mind, so this allows me to have pallets open and view the full spread at the same time. However, if you are needing large type on your icons and menu bars, then you will lose a lot of real estate. I'm not sure you will be able to get the full benefit I receive. I have the resolution set to the monitor's native resolution.
At home, I work with a 15" laptop (9:16) and a second monitor (4:3) that is the same width as the laptop. The second monitor is an LCD and very old (hardware age), so it doesn't do well at the same resolution the laptop does. But the laptop is shorter than the old monitor. Anyway, I do my page view on the laptop because of the better resolution. I put all my menus and pallets on the other monitor. This works well.

  • Has anyone here used Premiere CC for historical documentaries and similar archival-heavy projects?

Is anyone here using Premiere CC to edit a PBS-style historical documentary? I'm thinking of an American Experience episode or something similar. Something with thousands of photos and hundreds of low-res archival screener clips that will all have to be replaced with high-res masters for the online, etc.
I ask because I work as an assistant editor for this kind of show, and all the projects I've worked on have been in Media Composer 6.5 or MC 7, or occasionally in FCP 7. But I love using Premiere when I edit my own (non-broadcast) projects. And several producers I know are wary of staying with the discontinued FCP 7, don't like FCP X, and aren't thrilled with Media Composer either. So...I'm wondering if Premiere is a viable option for us.
Please note that I do NOT want to have a general discussion or flamewar here about which NLE is "best," whether Adobe's rental system is good or bad, or whether FCP X is brilliant or a disaster. I really don't want to talk about any of that.
Instead, what I DO want is to learn from those of you who have tried it, how well in practice does Premiere CC work in this kind of project? Specifically:
    1) Does it work smoothly with EditShare so multiple editors can work together?
    2) How reliable and straightforward is the offline/online workflow (so that screener footage can be replaced by master footage, etc.)?
    3) Associate producers and archival researchers often ask me for EDLs of the latest cut (which I clean up in MS Word to make more readable). How reliable is EDL export from a complex Premiere project?
    4) We often work with online houses that rely on Avid Symphony for color correction. Is that a no-go for a Premiere project? Or is there some way to get from Premiere into Symphony? If not, is Resolve the preferred tool?
    5) We typically keep a Filemaker Pro database to keep track of stills and archival footage. Can we import a lot of image metadata from Filemaker into a Premiere bin the way we do with MC 7?
    5) What other issues and problems have you faced in doing this?
    6) On the flip side, what are the real advantages?
Again, I'm interested in hearing others' personal experiences. I can read online a lot about how it's SUPPOSED to work. But in my experience, there are always quirks and issues that are not in the documentation that you can only learn through trial and error, or through asking here on the ever-valuable and helpful COW.
    Thanks in advance!

We do - but generally with a different workflow. I can't answer all your questions but a few thoughts. ps. We mostly do short —not feature length— projects.
    • For online we most often export the sequence (or a series of sequences) at PR444 with an EDL. Haven't found an online house primed for Premiere in a way that would make it easier than that. (again: generally 5-10min long projects.)
    • Premiere CC 2014 is a nightmare. CC was great. But recently upgraded to 2014 and have had nothing but problems related to the app crashing. It only seems to happen on projects that include either mixed media or large files that require caching (for us .MXF files.) Haven't received any helpful advice on how to fix.
    • Haven't used Avid in a while but the metadata works great for us in Premiere. The integration with Adobe Story is excellent: doc interview set-up, transcribe dialog, import into Story, synch with Premiere and: get an interactive metadata script that can be searched and clicked (word by word) to the related point in the footage.
    • Have also found that the integration with AE —turning a clip into an AE composition in the timeline with one click— is one of the more flawless features. Works great for quick clean-up or adjustments to footage.
    Hope this helps.

  • Has anyone here had experience with a Sony NEX-VG10/E m2ts file?

A recently created file with this video camera, and importing its m2ts file into Permiere Pro CS5 is proving offering disappointing rsults.  The images are fuzzy and there is a great deal of what appears to be interlace issues.  If it were not for other programs playing these files very clearly I would dismiss them as coming from an inferior camera.
Is there anyone here who has had experience with these files and editing them in PPCS5?
The file in question is shown as being a "File type: TS(AVC) Format" and the "Image size is 1440 x 1080"
    Hoping to hear from someone.
    Cheers,
    Michael

ok thanks, that's what I tought, looks like apple machines are only good for two - three years, the software developers are ahead of the hardware to a certain point, love macs but this is forcing us to buy new macs just to keep  up with development. There was a time it was the opposite.
By the time we get up on new stuff it's time to change again. Gotta be rich to deal with macs ...LOL

  • Anyone here using DVDSP to author Games ???

I was approached by a few clients to produce a whole series of interactive DVD games. I own a Sonic creator and SD2000 encoder system...even though scripting in Sonic creator is fairly sophisticated, it is not enough to author highly interactive games. I freelance at a few post facility with the latest Sonic HD-DVD system with Scenarist. It's a very powerful system. I'm tempted to upgrade my Creator but it is a major and VERY expensive move. Is there anyone here using DVDSP to author highly interactive games for DVD or any other authoring app you have used that's up to par for this tak ???? Thanks.

I'm using Creator 2.1.7, it's the last update before Sonic went with scenarist as their flagship. Beleive it or not, it's still running on OS9. It's a decent system, it has serve me well but it's definitely time to upgrade.
I will meet with the company on Monday and i'll know more about the project, but just from reading the script they sent me, it seems very deep...lots of programming.
I'm new to DVDSP..actually, i just got it this weekend. I was thinking of using it to author smaller projects and get another system for the high end and HD project. It's not an easy decision as what to get since the upgrade from Creator to Sonic HD and Scenarist is over 100K !!! ouch !
Anyways, if anyone here has experience using DVDSP for authoring highly interactive games and-or using it for major titles, i love to hear some feedback. Thanks.
