Anyone know a TV software for mac?

I want to buy a software/hardware that can allow me to watch tv on my mac, i live in mexico and would like to be able to watch the local channels on my mac so i can record them, is there any software/hardware that i can buy to be able to do that?

The usual reference for TV recording is Eye-TV by Elgato Systems LLC, rather expensive.
I bought on sale a Pinnacle coax TV-to-USB adapter and it works with an hour buffer of whatever was playing--not tested that long. But the included software does not provide recordings and it is only for digital (ATSC) television. I'm sure that simplifies the chip to not deal with analog-to-digital converters. I don't think Mexico has switched from NTSC.

  • HT3669 Phaser Tektronix/Xerox 780 - Does anyone know of any drivers for mac mountain lion?

I have updated to mountain lion and the Phaser 780 no longer works? It just says timed ou, can any one help?
    Thanks.

As far as I can tell, that printer uses postscript. The only piece of a driver you need is the PPD file that tells the printing system about the specs of the printer.
You should be able to print by selecting Generic postscript as driver. Try that for troubleshooting.
Lots of people find that they need to delete and re-add the printer, or Reset Printing System, to get printing to work after upgrading.

  • Software  for  mac  to  print  CD  and  DVD  cases  and  inserts

I have a powermac/tiger OS X and want to print up CD and DVD sleeves/covers and inserts but i have looked on the web for software that would enable me to do this with my mac and operating system but can not find anything.Does anyone know of any software i could purchase to enable me to do this with my mac ?
    thanks
    rich

There are several applications that will do that. A couple that are specific are Discus, from Magic Mouse software, and DiscLabel from SmileOnMyMac. A version fo Discus comes with Toast, from Roxio, which is an application that offers advanced disk burning options. I got DiscLabel after getting a LightScribe drive, since it supports that. Both of these will label disks, as well as making covers and inserts.
Actually, any good paint application will print up the covers and inserts, but these applications will size them automatically. With less specific applications, you will need to do your own layout.

    Hi Rich ~
One place to find some is over at Version Tracker:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/tiger/
Enter " cd dvd label " into the search field on the top right area and quite a few come up. You can download them and try them out from there. They also have reviews from people who have used it and other useful info.

  • Is there a FREE Parental Controls software for Mac?

Does anyone know of a free parental controls software for Mac? I have OS 10.3.9 and don't want to (or need to) get 10.4 +. Thus I can't run safari 2.0 or later and I want to have parental controls. I suspect it's out there but I can't seem to find it. TIA all.

For Tiger, Workgroup Manager (part of the free Tiger Server Admin Tools) offers greatly expanded account management options than what the built-in Parental Controls offers. OS X Server is not required; it works great on the regular OS X.
There was a version for Panther too, but I never tried it, so I don't know if it will do what you need. But the screen shot on the download page suggests that it might. You might want to download it yourself and try it out:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxserver1034admintools.html
You might also try asking your question in the "OS X 10.3 and earlier" forum here in the discussions. This forum is for Tiger only.

  • Card index software for MAC

Does anyone know of some good software that acts like a card-index - somewhere I can store information about books that I read/reviews/quotations? I've tried 'Googling' card-index software for mac, and various other permutations, but not come up with anything that looks any good - or at least I have, but it only works on Windows!
    Any suggestions very welcome!
    Thanks

Does it have to use a Card Index metaphor? There are many many snippet managers, that will grab things from, say, a web page and store them, index them for fast searching. They will also allow you to make notes etc, or annotate the clippings.
Search on http://www.macupdate.com for (in no particular order)
    Voodoo Pad
    Mori
    Yojimbo
    MacJournal
    Circus Ponies Notebook
    Journler
    and many, many more.

  • Best financial software for mac

What is the best personal financial software for mac? I am currently using Quicken 2007 but keep losing data.
    Thanks,

This is a bash on Quicken reply. I have struggled with Quicken (currently Q07) for many, many years (back into the 90's). I counted 13 different sets of Quicken datasets which have been left hanging on my various hard drives over these years as I found out through different support calls that I would have to discard a corrupted database and start over.
Last year, I was told by Quicken support during a  call I paid for that I had too many accounts and the database was too large. (This has been a common tech support comment for me) I've only tried to use Quicken for personal finance tracking, no securities tracking and the heavier features (thank goodness). The call ended with an all too familiar bottom line which was that the backups were all bad so they didn't help. The support person couldn't figure out how I could utlize the backup data so in the end, I re-entered the previous year so that I could get my taxes done and search for another program. I've researched enough to know I was lucky to not move to Quicken Express as was once advised. Apparently that software doesn't allow an export in the event you would find a different software.
The good news is that I just upgraded to Mountain Lion. As you may know, Quicken in any version does not work with this OS. I've finally found a perfect reason staring me in the face to never struggle to use Quicken again. Now to find a better option. Money has many features that seem like what I need for handling 5 or 6 bank accounts and credit cards. Has anyone experienced SEE software? It too seems to have decent features.
I don't know the background of this link but it may be a place to start:
    http://personal-finance-software-review.toptenreviews.com/mac-personal-finance-s oftware/
MacWorld also has a review on financial software for the Mac 2013
Best of luck to us all. Deciding on MtnLion and Mac vs. Quicken pppfffft no question which gets dumped!

  • Any current Lightscribe Software for Mac?

Hi, new Mac user here, just coming over from a Windows machine. and loving it!. Can anyone recommend Lightscribe software for mac. I've followed links on previous queries, but as these are a little dated, and the original HP ran site has closed down so I'm still struggling to find something suitable.
I know LaCie have some apps, but I'm assuming these only work with their writers.
I'm a wedding photographer so use Lightscibe all the time as my A2 printer wont print CD's and I hear a lot of bad stuff about the stick on labels damaging drives.
At the moment, I'm also looking to replace my desktop with an iMac, but need to see I can still have the same functionality first. Thanks

I find that Lacie's "Lightscribe Labeler" works quite nicely now that they have patched it to support Snow Leopard:
    http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers/driver.htm?id=10061
Whilst that wasn't working following my upgrade to 10.6, I used the Lightscribe Simple Labeler:
    http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadsection/mac/index.aspx?id=852
The latter, as you'd expect, doesn't have many features and doesn't support full disc labelling.
That's using a Lacie D2 16x Lightscribe external drive connected with Firewire 400.
    Hope that helps

  • Tax software for Mac???

Hi, everyone. TurboTax offers software for Mac in all additions EXCEPT for "Business" for some unknown reason. In addition, H&R Block's software following exactly the same pattern.
Does anyone know of Mac software that can handle a Business tax return? I'm looking for multiple-member LLC.

I believe that the best software for doing business taxes on a Mac would be Intuit Tax Online. This is a new web based platform, but if you are serious about doing your own tax return for an LLC, I would say it's about the only option. They will do pay per return. I don't believe that you have to have a PTIN to make that work, but it's possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of intuit at all and I use Drake software for tax returns (because it's lots better and we don't have to give them half of the practice), but if you are insistent  on business tax on a Mac, Intuit tax online is about the only option. Personally, I love my Mac but when I have to choose Windows or Intuit, I'll go with Windows every day of the week. I've never seen a tax return done in TurboTax or anything else self prepared without something wrong. If you're a pro, it's a different story, but if you're trying to save $600-$1,000, it's probably not worth the pain and suffering.
