Anyone know what these are called?

Hi. I am working on a book in InDesign and would like to add these little....tabs to the sides of the pages to help readers find different sections quicker than having to leaf through the pages.
So I have two questions. Anyone know what these blue and gold tabs on the page edges are called, and/or instructions on how to create them in InDesign? I don't think they'd be too hard to figure out, so I'm really more concerned with what they're called than anything else at this point. Any help would be appreciated, however.

Hi,
It is called Thumb.
There are two ways to do it in InDesign. Manual on the document pages.
Second using Master pages. If you will give details of the thumb (like a,
b, c,... 1, 2, 3, .... etc.) I will make .indd for you.
Regards,
Sachin Pradhan

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

  • Does anyone know what these are?

My touch screen stopped working around a month ago and yesterday i observed these little shapes to the top of my screen. Only visible at certain angles, could these little things have something to do with my problem?

, Hello and thanks so much for posting on the HP support forums.  It looks as if the digitizer in the screen is beginning to fail.  If you can please post back with the full model and product number.  With that I can can look up possible replacement options or find out what we can do to test this. Please include the operating system you are using as well.  here is a link to help you with the Model and Product Number. HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Please post back when you have a chance.  Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • Anyone know what these are used for??

    Hi All,
I am putting together some documentation for a CUP implemenation and I have come accross three configuration options in CUP that I have no idea what they pertain to and I can't find any documenation on them.
    1.  What is the "SAP EP LDAP" connection type used for?
    2.  What are SOD Review Process Rejected and UAR Review Process Rejected background jobs used for?

About "What are SOD Review Process Rejected and UAR Review Process Rejected background jobs used for?", I just talked to an SAP person today to explained to me that this is a job your sec admin would run for example in a UAR review when a particular user in a request had been "rejected" (e.g. "this person doesn't work for me, so I need to reject him so he can get sent to the right mgr").   When the reviewer (mgr) rejects the user, then the admin figures out based on the reason (e.g. changed jobs, terminated, etc) what action to take.  For instance may be to cancel the request for termination.  If the user has changed jobs, then the sec admin would need to go to the LDAP (or whatever source you use) to fix up the mgr<->employee relationship info, then run this "Process Rejected" job.  The rejected user will then be put into a new request, and the rest of the original request can be processed by the 1st mgr.   I haven't tried all this yet, but sounded reasonable to me...

Thanks Charlie and Leroydouglas - apologies for not responding sooner - I am new to the Community and couldn't see how to respond to your queries without 'replying' to myself - hope this works.  I do not use Windows on my Mac but it is possible I ran ScanDisk on my previous Windows laptop.  Perhaps I have inadvertently brought these files to my Mac??  Can I delete the files or will I be losing something I cannot verify?  So appreciate your input - thank you.

  • Does anyone know what these two home screen indicators mean?

Hi, recently two home screen indicators I haven't seen before showed up, and I was wondering if anyone knows what they mean and how to get rid of them.
One is two blue semicircles pushed together with the red star in the corner, and the other is a blue box with a man in the corner. I have included a picture to try and make it cleaer, but the quality isn't the best, for which I apologise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More than likely, those are from apps that have been recently installed. They don't look like stock BlackBerry icons to me. They might be from apps that came as part of an OS update from your carrier. Many times, carriers will tack on some extra apps to the update before releasing it. Calling Noidea and asking if this is the case would be a good place to start.
I hope my suggestions have helped you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • HT1349 Last week I was prompted to do an update on my MacBook Pro which I did & now different things keep popping up asking for passwords for a keychain & it won't go away. I don't know what these are & I don't know how to access them. Help me please

Last week I was prompted to do an update on my Mac Book Pro which I did. Ever since I did the update a box keeps popping up asking for login info for my keychains & they won't go away. I have no clue what these keychains are & I don't know how to find them & know the passwords for each of them. Plus now I don't get my email on here either. Please help me...

Outside of the contact number for that you've already used I don't know another way of direct contact. Here are some things that they may or may not of had you try that might help you. If you will go to the settings app and pick general on the right-hand side you will see accessibility. Within that you can adjust a text size make the text bowl you can also increase the contrast. You can also adjust the brightness and control panel.
As for Siri again in the settings app under general you should see Siri on the right-hand side with the switch to turn it on. If that is turned on and you're still having issues
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Anyone knows what these messages mean ???

when i do a build-format in DVDSP i get these messages in the log :
Warning: The file ‘VIDEOGRAPHE_2006.layout’ found in the VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS folder will not be included in the final disc.
Warning: The file ‘VOB_DATA.LAY’ found in the VIDEO_TS or HVDVD_TS folder will not be included in the final disc.
Any idea what it means and how important they are ??? Thanks

As above; but it would be more helpful if the message said "FOR INFO: The file..."
    from DVDSP User Manual:
As part of the build process, DVD Studio Pro creates two additional files in the VIDEO_TS folder. The format process does not include these files in its final output.
    • A .layout file: This file uses the disc name and a “.layout” extension. The file contains project information used by the format process, including the marker information used when creating dual-layer discs.
    • A VOB_DATA.LAY file: This file is used for incremental builds when you choose to reuse files in the VIDEO_TS folder left from a previous build for a new build.
Note: The .layout filename must match the disc name for an incremental build to work. See “Incremental Builds” on page 563 for more information.
If you intend to manually copy the VIDEO_TS folder to a disc (bypassing the DVD Studio Pro format process), you should be sure not to copy the above files to the disc. Most DVD players ignore them if they are present in the VIDEO_TS folder on the final disc, but some are unable to play the disc.

  • Anyone know what drives are compatible with 1.67ghz powerbook g4?

I need to change my internal hard drive and I've been told that I can use several drives: Ultra-ATA, ATA 100, ATA-6 (all 2.5"). I also want to ugrade the drive's capacity. I currently have 100gb, I want 160 or better. Also would like to use 7200rpm but i don't know if my laptop is compatible.
Can I use a drive that is an ATA-7? I found online, but don't know if I can use it since it is not ATA-6.
Any suggestions on stores, drives, models, etc

Hi, omarakil. You can use any 2.5" ATA-6 or ATA-7 drive; an ATA-7 drive will operate at ATA-6 speed. You can use a 4200, 5400 or 7200 RPM unit, but to the best of my knowledge there are no 160GB or larger 7200RPM drives on the market, so if you want a very large one (160GB or 250GB), you'll be limited to 5400 RPM. Western Digital is currrently the only maker of a 250GB ATA drive; other manufacturers' offerings top out at 160GB. You can't use any Serial ATA (SATA) drive. Anything that isn't explicitly advertised as SATA is almost certainly ATA, also known as Parallel ATA or PATA.
In addition to Macsales.com, look at ZipZoomFly.com, NewEgg.com, and Buy.com for very large selections of drives at highly competitive prices.

  • Anyone Know What These Error Windows Mean?

    Hey All,
I was opening up a Logic (Pro 7.1.1) song file off of my external hard drive (Lacie 250 GB with plenty of room) this morning when this error message popped up on my desk top:
    Damaged Song!
    (clearrec: sevstart < MSEQ)
I clicked "okay" on this error message to see what would happen. The song loaded up but the arrange window had not retained it's original size where you place the sound files. They were shrunken. I expanded the size of the files to see if there was any info there. There was. I hit play and could hear everything. I then hit Save As Project to continue testing what was going on and received this error message:
    Error in seqdelete
    negative size
I hit the cancel button on this window but the Save As Project command went through. Once that was done, I opened up the "newer" saved as project. It opened fine and all my stuff was there.
I opened two other song files with no problems so I guess it's to do with that particular one. What puzzles me is that it was working fine as of yesterday.
Does anyone have any clues as to:
    A) Why did this song file get corrupted in the first place?
    B) What do those error windows mean?
    C) Is there something I should be doing?
I'm running Logic Pro 7.1.1 using a Lacie 250 GB External drive off of a PowerBook, G4 OS X 10.4.3, 1 G of RAM, MOTU Traveler
I have been using this system succesfully for about a year.
    thank you, Jaymo

    B) What do those error windows mean?
Apple likes to get money for tech support;-)
I think that Apple should provide better error descriptions. I spent about a day trying to figure out why I couldn't import an aif file, which turned out was too large. The error displayed said "What kind of file is this?". Thanks alot for nothing Apple error authors:-(
    I still like 'em though.

  • Anyone know what printers are macbook air compatible

I have a macbook air. Two printers we have at home, an HP deskjet 5500 and a Brother HL-2270DW Laser Printer are not compatible.
Is there a list of compabible printers available?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can check all compatible printers in this website > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 All of them work with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion at least, but they can support older OS X editions

  • Does anyone know what these errors mean in console?

This is the log from console.  In particular the parts "server not found in database"  and "failed building TGS-REP to...."  It only does this for the 10.8 clients not the 10.6 ones.  The users can log in, but if takes 30 computers about 10+ minutes to login.  Thanks.

That's the Kerberos Ticket Granting Server request and an Authentication Server request, among other chatter.
Kerberos is a key part (no pun intended) of distributed authentication.
To verify one of the key low-level details — DNS and network services — that can cause issues for OS X Server including delayed network responses and generally flaky behavior, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the following harmless, diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to enter an administrative password for the sudo, and you might see a one-time informational message about the use of sudo, then some configuration information, and and indication of whether no changes are required, or of there are DNS or network issues.  Also confirm that the server is not using a .local name as its local DNS host name.
FWIW, here are some details of the Kerberos Protocol
