You pay the Oracle lawsuit? For using Oracle Client when Oracle currently provides Instant Client for free and allows it to be distributed with 3rd party/ISV applications? Doubt that Oracle will do that, or have a valid case - nor will it be in their best interest seeing that this is part of a migration to a later Oracle version (which means revenue for Oracle).

We have a customer who has a 7.3 DB still that we need to get that data out of to migrate. Is exp not available on that server platform? In which case schema exports can be done and then imported into the new database.
If I set up a secure FTP site would anyone be able to upload an ISO of the 7.3 client disk ?I will have a look to see for that Oracle Workgroup CD (it was a "free trial" distro at the time which I picked up at the local Oracle offices). The problem however is bandwidth cap. I'm still in a part of the world where broadband means around 32Kb/s thruput and being limited to the amount of b/w one can use (I'm capped to only using 5GB per month - which is not much).
I suggest however to log a service request with support.oracle.com - you are likely to resolve the problem much faster that way.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a hardware security box for a Mac Mini?

I have a few mac minis that we use in our Media Studies dept. We had a recent break in and one was taken. Does anyone know of any security boxes that will anchor the mac mini down to furniture? I don't want security cables as they can be easily cut. i know there are boxes/cases/clamps that you can buy from the US, but i need a UK supplier. Any comments would be grateful. Thanks.

    Hi Mr Shake,
I work for an educational institution. We use lock-down cables, since our insurance requires it. We don't actually care if the occasional machine gets stolen, since if it was locked down, it's covered. I mean, we'd rather they weren't, but we don't have a sentimental attachment to all ten thousand computers we have..
As for UK suppliers, I can't help you, sorry.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a replacement CPU fan for my HP mini 210-2170NR laptop?

My fan literally "shattered" -- the blades are dropping off the wheel as if it's rotting. Half of them fell off when I opened up the laptop and checked it. Ordered a fan from Amazon claiming to be 210 series compatible but it couldn't fit. Do you know of any sites online where I can order a replacement.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a midi/gameport bracket for Audigy 4 SB0

?I'm exausted searching for one, I bought this card and it's came with the wrong bracket and I cant get a hold of the shop to return it.Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Bought this card new, I know that it's and audigy 4 OEM (model no SB060),and the bracket that I was?given with it is the same bracket that fits audigy 2 cards, as I have a dud audigy 2 card and?both?brackets are the same (?SB0070, 5 pin).
It seems that the connector for the bracket I need?is?0 pin whereas the one I have is a 5 pin.
the problem is I have already installed the card and the dealer won't accept returns, I have seen the difference between both bracket's I just can't seem to get one without buying a new card.
    hope this hel

  • Does anyone know where I can get Operating Instructions for the Sony BVW-75 Betacam SP?

I have been trying without success to find Operating Instructions for the Sony BVW-75 Betacam SP I just bought. Does anyone know where I can get it?

Thank you for trying to help. All of those links are for the product brochure, service/maintenance manual, or other products. I have spent several hours following Google search results and eBay searches with no luck. That's why I am reaching out to the technical community to see if someone has an instruction manual somewhere in the back room of their studio.

  • Does anyone know where I can get a silicon cover EU layout with letters

I need a silicon cover for the keyboard on my Macbook Air, but not a clear one. And preferably a very thin one. Does anyone know where I can get a EU layout one? There seem to be loads for US keyboard, but I can't find a single one for EU layout, except a clear one. I need one with the letters on, as I have a QWERTZ keyboard, and use QWERTY. I wouldn't even mind a 13" one, as I have just cut down one of these, which is what I am using at the moment, but it's beginning to wear out!

i am trying to update my ibook 10.4.11so i tryed leopard but it said i needed  10.5 anyone know where i can get this from or anyother ideas please help

What is your need to upgrade to Leopard? So you can sync to iPhone, iPad, etc?

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
The DVD should look like this
Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

With CS6 you have to pay extra for these plugins.
With the CC you can download different ME versions to add their functionality.

  • I have old Macintosh LC that recently passed on,  anyone know where I can get this repaired or have the data transferred into something else?

I have an old Macintosh LC that recently went down.  I am located in the Portsmouth, NH area.
Anyone know where I can get this repaired or have the data transferred??

How much $$ do you care to spend to transfer the data on the LC's 40 or 80 MB hard drive?  The original LC is now 21 years-old and has little if any market value (I know - I have an LC I and an LC III), so professional repair will easily exceed that.  It's considered "obsolete" by Apple's authorized repair shops, so parts are not available.  Was it starting up normally before it stopped working, and if so, were the date & time always correct after it had been disconnected from an electrical outlet?  If not and if startups have been hit or miss for a while, your LC undoubtedly needs a new PRAM battery installed.  It's a 3.6-volt ½AA lithium battery and is installed in a black plastic holder w/retainer cover clipped over it on the LC's motherboard.  The battery can be purchased at battery specialty retailers for about $8 or less, as well as from a number of online merchants.  If you don't mind paying 2-3 times the value of the battery, Radio Shack carries it.  If you need directions for installing the battery, post back.  It's the least expensive thing to try and a new battery has brought many a dead Mac back from the dead.  As for the internal hard drive, it could be removed and installed in a slightly newer, pre-G3 Power Mac having an internal SCSI bus.  If there are any thrift stores in your area, you might find a suitable Mac for this purpose.  This would involve removal of the hard drive from the LC and installation in the newer Mac, with a slight change in the LC's SCSI address jumper placement.  Once installed in the newer Mac, the files could be copied.  If this is more challenging than you planned on, you might check your area for a Mac User Group, where you might be able to take your LC and have someone transfer the files for you.  After the files have been transferred to another medium, you may have problems trying to open them on a newer Mac running a newer OS version than the LC's (System 7.0, 7.1, 7.5.x, or 7.6), if the programs aren't compatible.
