Anyone knows what to do with a flickering screen?
I have the white macbook, and lately my screen has been flickering a lot, for example when i have just turned on the computer or when it is loading a webpage or program. It doesn't turn black completely but it just goes from bright to dark and dark to bright and so on.
I was thinking about going back to the store, but since this problem doesn't occur EVERY time, it is kind of hard to proof.
has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what i should do?
I've had this problem, and it's starting to get really frustrating. It's your backlight, and if you don't get it fixed, eventually the screen will go dark for good and you won't be able to see anything. What's frustrating is that I've had this problem repaired by Apple 3 TIMES in the past 10 months, and it's happening to me again. I'm about ready to chuck this machine out the window at the nearest Apple representative. I don't want to keep having it sent out every 3 months for repair.

Are you sure you have a PowerMac? They can't run Mac OS 10.6.8. Maybe a Mac Pro instead?
Can you post a screen shot of that portion of the screeen for us to review? Does the question mark replace the Apple that's at the left end of the menubar? -

Does anyone know what's up with the iPhone 4s' battery life? Some days it last a long time and other days it drains extremely fast.
Not to point out the obvious, but battery life depends very much on what is running and how much the device is being used.
If the battery lasts longer on a day you make no phone calls, but lasts less the day you make 5 hour long calls, this is to be expected.
If however the iPhone has the same level of use on both days, with different power consumption, this would infer a background process (or App) is trying to do something (connecting to server or creating a back up etc).
I switched off all thrid party apps from being included in my iCloud backup, which saves a huge amount of space on the cloud and allows the back up to take barely a couple of minutes.
Battery life seems ok so far on my 64GB 4S (Bluetooth on, Wi-Fi on, Location Services on, Push notifications on, Screen set to just under half brightness with Auto Adjust on) -
Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?
The website has been down for at least a month, and there have been no updates to the software components for a while. Does anyone know what's been going on with this project?
Edit: funny, there is recent activity on the bug tracker, but not much else.

Help please! My phone has some kind of issue, besides being old, it has "magnified" I don't know what happened. I cannot figure out how to get it to go back to normal? It just happened when I touched a text message to read it. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Anyone knows what's wrong with AppleCare?
An "advisor" told me to ship everything back for a repair for my new iPad, so I did. Then I got back only the iPad, not to mention they shipped it to the wrong address. Fortunately it was a false address which doesn'e exist, and FedEx allowed me to do a pickup (after 8 days of not contacting me or Apple, of course). They were great about shipping me back some new accessories but not the packaging, but they missed a part. This missing part is taking FOREVER to ship out. I have called several times in a row just for this little missing dock, which I just need to charge my iPad. Every time a SENIOR ADVISOR promises me that the missing accessory would be shipped out the next day, but apparently not. One time, it even took me forever to explain to an advisor what an iPad charger is consisted of (She still didn't understand why an adaptor can be broken into two parts, not counting the USB cord). I mean, is this some kind of joke? I even know better than she does. The iPad was supposed to be a Father's Day gift, and I can't believe how long it's taking me to get this thing done. Just to clarify, this isn't my first time using AppleCare, and they were NOT like this before. WHAT IS WRONG WITH APPLE??? And, most importantly, I want my stuff back now and try to apologize to my father about what happened.
I believe the OP shipped "everything" back, including the 10W wall charger, which was not returned. I can understand her frustration, but of course, since we are all just users here, I'm not sure what she is hoping we can offer, other than a sympathetic ear.........

Haresh.It is both easier and more complicated than that. I really can't give you any "sample code" because it isn't a coding issue. It is more of a data representation issue. XML is both a "simple" markup language and a complex data representation language. You need to read up a bit on XML to see what you can do with it. Come up with a test data set that is formatted the way that make sense to you. Or, maybe create a test data structure in your code and save that to XML to see how the native representation looks.
At that point, you will know what your input looks like and you will know what your output should look like. You just need a way to get from A -> B. For XML, the quickest way to do that is through XSLT. -

I'm totally frustrated and confused. I've seen this question asked but no real answers. So here goes again. Has anyone or does anyone know how to get I cloud to work for seperate people's device who have a iTunes account together. Me and my wife have same apple account but we don't want everything synced on both phones and we want to use the feature. It makes no sense at all.

So I've had this computer for about 2 years now, got this when I graduated High School now I'm going into my junior year of college. Out of the time that I've had it I had to replace the hard drive once, and nowadays the headphone jack is giving me some sort of strange feedback. I read other posts regarding systems preferences regarding headphones and it works just fine. The weird thing is that whenever I plug my headphones in to the audio jack, I receive a lot of unnecessary feedback. I'll hear buzzing, static, and my sound is all the way at max volume but it sounds as if it's at the minimum. Whenever I jiggle my headphones the static gets louder, but that doesn't seem to solve the problem or give an idea to what's wrong.

Does anyone know what's wrong with my ipod?
Hi, I have a 3rd generation 20Gb ipod that's almost 3 yrs old. Recently the battery life became so bad it would play less than 1 song before dying from full charge, so I bought a new super-life battery from Maplins and replaced the battery. It was a very fiddly job, but their were 2 of us doing it and I don't think we did anything wrong during the process.
Since replacing the battery, my ipod has a great battery life and the first 2 times I used it, it was perfect. Then it started acting very bizarrely. If left unconnected for a few hours, it would restore itself to factory settings, wiping its hard drive. Then on connecting to the computer it would perform a very long-winded check (with an icon appearing on the screen like a CD being examined with a magnifying glass), before I could put the music on again. It did this every time I used it, which was annoying, but I could at least use it in short bursts.
Now however, it will not work at all. Every time I connect it to the computer it does its checking and then either the ipod, the computer, or both will crash. On restarting both, it does the same again. If I start the ipod in disk mode, it appears in itunes and everything, and I can add music, but it just wipes itself again when I put it back to normal ipod mode. I've tried the 5 Rs and all have failed (although my software update didn't work too well, I'm not sure if it actually did it 'coz the software update prog kept crashing).
Basically, can anyone shed any light on what this fault is and how to fix it? Is it a problem with the ipod or something I did to it while changing the battery?

If you have tried trouble shooting your iPod to no avail after all the steps above, chances are your iPod has a hardware problem. The iPod's built-in Diagnostic Mode is a quick and easy way to determine if you have a "bad" iPod.
You need to restart your iPod before putting it into Diagnostic Mode. Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. Toggle it on and off to be safe.
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod.
iPod 1G to 3G: "Menu" and "Play/Pause"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Menu" and "Select"
The Apple logo will appear and you should feel the hard drive spinning up. Press and hold the following sequence of buttons:
iPod 1G to 3G: "REW", "FFW" and "Select"
iPod 4G+ (includes Photo, Nano, Video, and Mini): "Back" and "Select"
You will hear an audible chirp sound (3G models and higher) and the Apple logo should appear backwards. You are now in Diagnostic Mode. Navigate the list of tests using "REW" and "FFW". Try to do the 5in1, HDD R/W and HDD scan tests. Some successful cases have been reported after the running the few tests under the Diagnostic mode. In case it does not work in your case, and the scan tests reports show some errors then it proves your iPod has a hardware problem and it needs a repairing service. -
I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. I am able to connect to other networks but not my own. It is not an issue with the service/router because other devices connect fine. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport. Last time it happended I called apple and the suggested I wipe my HD and reinstall everything. I did and it did not work. One day I turned my laptop on and it connected no problem. Now it has kicked me off again. I tried resetting my IP address but that does not work either! Has anyone had this problem?
Try this:
Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.

Have latest version of iTunes installed and running. Also make sure you have internet access working and can access Apple websites. Also, make sure you don't have any entries in your hosts file referring to gs.apple.com....If your not sure about how to do that, go ahead and do the rest first. You can come back to that later.....Plug in phone. Put phone in DFU mode.(google put iphone in DFU mode for instructions) Then restore the phone in iTunes by highliting your device in the left column and click on the Restore button. The latest iOS version is 4.3.3. That's what iTunes will restore it to. When it's done restoring, iTunes will ask if you want to restore from a backup or setup as a new phone. I would use the Setup as a New Phone option. Once it's done, you should have a clean install of the iOS and an operating phone, as long as there are no hardware issues with it.

Does anyone know what is wrong with flash games?
Whenever I try to load a flash game on any website, it comes up fine. However, when I simply click on a button, it freezes both Firefox and the flash script. I just downloaded FF v3.6.10 and updated Adobe Flash player. It was fine before the 3.6.10 update.
Everything else seems to be fine though...Safe mode did not help. In fact, it made Firefox freeze for longer than in normal mode.. I am also using the default theme..
When I run the Firefox safe mode, it does not come up with the safe mode dialog box like it says in the FAQ.
Edit: Actually, Java was the problem. To fix, go to start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore, and pick the date that you installed Java. That might help anyone who has this problem. -
