Anyone not having trouble with Airport?

Leopard sits on a shelf, still unloaded. I read here and elsewhere of so many problems with connecting to one's Airport or other wireless router that I'm content to wait till there's an upgrade to fix the problem.
But I'm curious... Is there anyone who's had 100% luck in upgrading and then connecting (and staying connected) to their router, Airport Express or Base Station? I think we need to put this issue into perspective.

I went the Upgrade route from 10.4.1, and had the Airport connection issues (Netgear router, WEP encryption) as well as numerous other issues including kernel panics, etc. I went back to 10.4.1 using my backup and tried again, with the same result. Again I reloaded my 10.4.1 backup (via SuperDuper), and then proceeded as follows:
1. I downloaded both the Login/Keychain Update and the 10.5.1 update to a separate partition on my hard drive;
2. I went through the voodoo of repairing permissions on my hard drive;
3. I then updated to 10.5 once again, this time choosing Archive and Install and Save Settings (I think that's what it's called);
4. When it booted up in 10.5, I accessed the Login/Keychain Update from the partition where I had saved it on my hard drive and installed it;
Note: I had saved it to my hard drive in anticipation of the fact that I would not be able to get online to download it after the 10.5 install, because I would not be able to get online via Airport -- which was indeed the case).
5. After the update and subsequent restart, I restarted once again in Safe mode by holding down the Shift key during the restart;
Note: When I did this, the grey screen and spinning gear appeared for an interminable amount of time. I basically gave up at some point and released the Shift key, but when the boot completed it came up in Safe mode.
It asks for your password. Don't bother, it'll tell you it's wrong. Just look for the Restart or Reboot cue and click on it, letting it restart normally. When it restarts, you should be online, and all the other problems should have disappeared as well.
6. Now install 10.5.1, When you're done, again, all should be well. At least it was for me. My 10.5.1 install appears rock-solid, running the way Apple intended it to.
I should note that I'm using a lot of third-party stuff: an older Netgear wireless routed, and two 1 Gb memory sticks from two different manufacturers, neither of them Apple. So all those theories about problems being caused by RAM or other 3rd-party gear may be a little sketchy. I also had forgotten to deactivate the Unsanity plug-ins, but that didn't seem to matter either. But who knows? It's all black magic to me anyway.
