Anyone notice a slowdown in accessing topics?
While there will be a learning curve in getting used to the new "look" and use of these forums, I'm a bit disappointed in the lag in getting to the information. Before the upgrade, it was almost instantaneous. Now, it takes at least 20 secs or more to get into a discussion thread and the same amount of time to go page to page or to an item. Sometimes I get "safari cannot connect to server" notice. I generally use only powermac g-5, tiger, final cut forums and they all seem to have the same lag. Since the access was much quicker before the update, and since the access with other sites remains "snappy", I presume that it's not my connection or setup. running 10.4.3, dual g-5 2g, 3.5g ram .
Sure is slow, at first I thought I has some interference on my airport network!

Has anyone noticed 9 Horizontal black lines in Nikon V3 NEF files in the shadows?
Has anyone noticed horizontal black lines in Nikon V3 NEF files, as shown in the image. I have opened the image in Aperture and there are no lines, also tried 2 different computers.
The lines are there in the raw data, and not something Adobe is doing.
Here is a screenshot of the central area in RAWDigger raw-analysis software, with things set to stretch the channels much as a high-ISO image would have:
What I can't tell from the images is if these lines are in optical path, like streaks on the sensor, or if they are added by the process that reads the raw data--read pattern noise. It is possible that Aperture would have access to "dust delete data" if such a capability exists for the camera and is interpolating around the artifacts or if there is some other reason Nikon software doesn't show them. I don't know. You may be able to find information online but rest assured it is a camera issue and not an Adobe issue unless you're asking why Adobe software isn't fixing the problems automatically like Aperture must be doing, and I would guess Adobe doesn't have any way to fix sensor anomalies that aren't more than 1 pixel in size--single hot or dead pixels.
Unless Nikon can replace or service the camera to remove such things, I don't know what else to suggest. -

The charge capacity is definitely inline with manufacturer's specifications. I will say that the charge cycle is a little high, though.
129 cycles / 8 months = 16 cycles (per month)
That's about one every other day. It sounds like you use the machine frequently for short periods of time. Is this machine at home or in an office? Or are you mobile with it to where you don't have access to A/C power or can't be "tied down" to a specific location for any period of time?
There's no reason to run the machine off of battery power if it's sitting on your desk. Matter of fact, I probably use my "portable" at my desk more than I use it was a portable. You could be racking up unnecessary cycles otherwise. On one of my machines it's plugged into power 98% of the time, I'll run it down and give it a full recharge once a month per Apple's recommendations.
As AussieDJ recommended, check Activity Monitor to see if anything is consuming unnecessary amounts of CPU usage.
If this is an 11" MBA, approximately 4 hours of run time is well within reason (based on usage), but that's a little low if this is a 13" MBA. Again usage is important here, web browsers and flash-heavy content consume a surprisingly large amount of battery.
I'd also be curious to see a consecutive usage test versus these 10-30 minute usage intervals throughout the day. Give the machine a full charge, use it as your normal would for a 2-3 hours and see how that goes. -

Correction - I HAVE reported the fault to Apple and to my network provider who have informed me that they have received numerous complaints from their customers and are sending out replacements to them and to me. As I hadn't stated what steps I had taken in my original post you shouldn't be so fast to assume what I have or have not done.

What you posted looks like the iTunes Library.xml file I will let you read about how iTunes works but not only is the .xml not your main library it is just the listing of tracks in your library and where the music files should be located. Your music is actually in media files (by the way, it is pointless to zip those as they are already compressed). Anyway, read these and you will see that your true library file (iTunes Library.itl) is only a small, but still important, part of a complete library.

As you can see, a library has several components, so "getting it back" depends upon what is missing, what it was you actually backed up in the end, if any of this music was purchased from the iTunes Store, etc. -
Anyone notice that you don't need to have the phone plugged in for it to sync wirelessly? They seem to stress that the phone needs to be plugged in for it to sync. Is that a bug or something?
I have had this exact same thing happen to me. It is really annoying to have those pauses. Some songs have multiple pauses. I hope this is resolved when the final product is released.

You have to connect and select iPhone in computer iTunes Sidebar.
If you don't see the Sidebar, toggle it on in iTunes menu View > Show Sidebar.

Yes Jason, I had the same problem you seem to be describing. It's been happening for a couple of days now (at least since I noticed) and I was able to get it to work tonight. I finally installed the new upgrade and once I did, iTunes was once again available. So if you haven't taken the update, I'd recommend maybe trying that. At least it worked for me, though I don't know why.

Anyone notice distorted bass in songs after updating to iOS 5
I have a 4th gen Ipod Touch and just upgraded to iOS 5 today. When I play a song the bass sounds all distorted and rattles as if I am using incredibly cheap headphones or something when I am using good quality Bose headphones. I did not notice this in iOS 4. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you fix it. I am thinking or resyincing and setting up my ipod as a "new ipod" to see if that works, but have to wait until after work.
