Anyone out there have a mac osx 10.3 install & restart discs?

Some Powerbook G4s actually would only work with the Gray discs that came with them.
Without knowing the age of the Powerbook G4
http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
It is impossible to know if system specific 10.3 installer is needed, or if a retail 10.4 is needed.
Know these dates:
Macs that were released between 10/24/2003 and 12/17/2003 (xx343...xx350 serial numbers, where x can be any letter or number) could only install 10.3.2, or 10.3.5 retail as is labelled on the disc, and the prebundled installer disc that came with them.  All retail discs for 10.3 looked like: and did not say upgrade, dropin, or OEM.
Macs that were released between 12/17/2003 and 8/12/2004 with serial numbers xx351...xx432 could only install 10.3.5 retail as is labelled on the disc and the prebundled 10.3 installer disc that came with them.
Macs released with serial numbers xx433 to xx516 could only use the 10.3 installer disc that shipped with them to install 10.3, and for retail release could use 10.4, or 10.5 depending on their configuration stated in this user tip:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2541
This is all covered in my tip:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2831
Please do NOT post your serial number on the forum, as it is public.

Does anyone out there have LabVIEW drivers for either a Z-Mike 1102 (Beta Lasermike) or a Compumotor 6104 (Parker)?

CompuMotor creates a Motion Toolbox for LabVIEW, but it is not supported by National Instruments.
You can find some support files and downloads for the 6104 from http://www.compumotor.com/support_samples.htm

  • Anyone out there have an idea on how to solve an "Empty print file!" error?

I am trying print to a Lexmark C543 network printer from a PowerPC G5 (running 10.5.7). Prior to receiving the error message (Empty print file!) the print queue displays the following messages: “Looking for Lexmark C543” and then “The printer is now on-line”.
Now there is a twist, I can successfully print test pages, pdf files (only using Adobe Reader 9.1.2, not the Apple Preview application), and image files (only using Adobe Lightroom 2.4, not the Apple Preview application). If I try and print a webpage using Safari (4.0.1) or Word document using Word:MAC 2008 version 12.1.9 it will error out, unless I print it to a PDF and then reopen the file via Adobe Reader.
Here are the actions I have already tried, and didn’t work?
    - Removed and installed printer (both via GUI and CUPS)
    - Reset printer system
    - Verify Disk (no problems found)
    - Repaired Disk Permissions
    - Removed/renamed all files I could find in Library and System relating to C543
    - Downloaded and installed new driver
    - Called Lexmark, “3rd Level support looked at the issue and the log and they concluded that it's a problem with the OS.”
Below is an excerpt from the CUPS error log that might shed some further light on the subject.

    PaHu,
Thank you for welcoming me to Apple Discussions as well as explaining what you saw in the log.
I downloaded and ran the 10.5.7 Combo updater, but unfortunately it did not resolve my empty print file error.
Print Therapy (version 6.0.5) you suggested (and I downloaded) looked very promising. Unfortunately it too did not resolve my empty print file error. I have included the Print Therapy log below in hopes it will shed more light on the problem. The Print Therapy log stated: "You may need to reinstall OS X to resolve your printing issues." I am assuming this is probably because of the three missing files/directories it found.
Please let me know what my next steps should be, and if I should reinstall Leopard. If I have to reinstall Leopard is it possible to just install on top of the existing version without loosing or destroying the files (documents, images, etc.) we created?
Thanks again for all your help!
    Brian

  • I need an email address for iBooks Author support. Does anyone out there have that info?

I am unable to raise anyone at Apple regarding support for the iBooks Author App. Does anyone know of an email address or telephone number for that support group.Thank you

Apple does not provide application support via email. You can call the standard Apple technical support lines for assistance, though I don't know how expert the technicians will be in that particular application, and you'll quite probably have to pay for the support call.
You might try posting your issue/question in the iBooks Author forum here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/books/ibooks_author
I suspect you'll be more likely to get an answer there than you will by calling Apple.
    Regards.

  • Firefox will not open web pages that are called from the mail program that comes with Vista, anyone out there have a solution?

I have installed Firefox ver 4 on a Toshiba laptop running Vista. My problem is when using the mail client that comes with Vista any url in an email message will not load in the browser, a new tab is created and has the url from the mail message but that is as far as I get. There is no revolving icon on the new tab and clicking on reload does nothing. So far this is happening with every website I have tried. There is no error message of any kind. • Does anyone out there have any information about running LabVIEW 6i on a Windows 2000 Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop?

Good news, bad news. I will take any info I can get. I am having trouble getting LabVIEW to see an HP 8703 device. I used to have Win98 and LabVIEW 5.1 running on this machine without a problem until I tried to upgrade to 6i. The machine would not work correctly or recognize devices consistently.
    Thanks for your help!

The problem you are seeing likely does not have to do with LabVIEW, but more likely with the GPIB drivers. If you did a full install of LabVIEW 6, it probably installed new drivers over the old ones and might have caused some problem. You aught to be able to test the 488.2 drivers and the device communication using MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer) If have trouble communicating with your device in MAX, might want to consider completely uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling.

  • I have the same JRE error does anyone out there have a solution?

See previous post for error message:
I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.6 on a Windows 98 machine. When I attempt to run the setup.exe I get an error message:"Unable to locate ../.../.../jre.exe. Please log on to www.javasoft.com and download JRE 1.1.7 or later."
    null

Refer to Release Notes for 8.1.6, there are good instructions about JRE related installation problems.

  • Re: Password Assistant -- "The Missing Manual" references such a beast, but I cannot locate it. I have ver 10.6.8. Anyone out there who can help?

According to The Missing Manual, Version 10.6.8 of the Mac OSX Snow Leopard system should have a password generating utility, called the "Password Assistant," which actually generates passwords for you. I've been unable to find this miraculous utility on my Mac, and seek enlightenment from the learned readers of this community. Anyone out there have some light to shine on my dark corner?

I  think the "Password Assistant" they are specifically referring to comes up when creating or changing an Account's password.  For example, go into your System Preferences Accounts.  Select an Account.  Click the Change Password... The sheet that drops down has a little key in a box.  Click that.  And a window with the title "Password Assistant" is displayed.
    Example: Using Apple’s Password Assistant
Note, the Password Assistant can also be brought up from Keychain Access's New Password Item... menu.  It brings up a sheet with a little key too.
Lastly, a little google searching flushed out a little app which apparently directly uses the built in OS X Password Assistant used by Change Password and Keychain Access.  It's called, no surprise, Password Assistant and can be found here.

  • I just got a new ipone5c and i can't get the light to go out unless I turn it off. Have tried all the things I read anyone out there that can help me??

I just got a new iphone 5c this is my first smart phone. I have an Ipad so thought it would be easy.
I downloaded the new software don't know if this changed anything. I have only had phone for 4 days
but now the light won't shut off. I have to turn off the phone for it to go out. I did the holding down home
button and start button till apple shows up. I checked to make sure the LED flash for alerts button was off.
I don't know what else to do. Anyone out there have the same problem and have found an answer.
    Thank you!

After powering the iPhone off and on, the light goes out but turns back on randomly or immediately after powering the iPhone on?
Since nothing else you have tried has resolved it, try restoring the iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup first.
If no change after that, try restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
If no change after that, the iPhone has a hardware problem.
Call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

You're not heavy on specifics on what you don't like.
Most people have little technical expertise but are wanting more and more, requiring more complex computers, ideally ending up with one from Star Trek where you basically don't have to know anything how to really use a computer and it just provides you with the exact answer you need to a not particularly well-phrased query.  If you're missing things like configuration options and the rest, well frankly I think many people are happy not to have to make complicated decisions for themselves such as in which opening do they insert a system installer disc.

I'd suggest being more specific. What do you mean by "it seems to have thrown windows out of the system?" The Windows virtual machines should still be in the Virtual Machines folder in your documents folder. Are they there? What version of Fusion have you updated from and to?
You might also consider raising your question in the VMware Fusion forum: http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/desktop/fusion?view=discussions&sta rt=0.
