Anyone played Call of Duty 2 yet ?

I played some CoD2 tonight and it really gave my MacBook a workout. Fan(s) blazed away, top left quadrant heated up nicely and it was lots of fun.
Graphics had a hard time keeping up and movement now and then got jerky. Occasionally I couldn't move my man but so it was with the enemy also - so it was kinda even.
I have 2gig RAM and about some 1.5gig was being used and load average approached 2.0.
I found the game playable but not overly responsive for the short time playing.
It played much better on my Dual 2.5GHz PowerMac G5 - LOL.

Yes, you will not be able to play much games with MacBook. It has a Intel Graphics chip with shared memory. Unlike the MacBook Pro which has a ATI graphics card. The Intel graphics are perfectly fine for other jobs such as video,
but lacks support for many 3D games.

  • I was led to believe a Xbox game pad can be used on an iMac to play call of duty, yet my mac doesn't recognise it

I was led to believe that an Xbox game pad can be used to play call of duty black ops on the iMac. I cannot seem to get mine to work. Is there an app or something needed for the computer to recognise it ?

I think Call of Duty doesn't support controllers due to the balance implications in multiplayer.

  • Moderate NAT while playing Call of Duty Ghosts on ...

As the problem says, I have my NAT stuck on moderate whenever I play Ghosts.  I have run through the checks on CG/GG-NAT and used PortForward.com and I still my NAT remains on moderate.  The kicker is that it *was* Open - I'd checked advice online and people suggested putting it in a DMZ - thankfully that's easy with the Home Hub 4, so I dutifully did that and lo & behold it was showing as Open and my connection was running fantastically.  But then, last week, I powered it on and the game claims I'm on moderate and my connection nearly makes playing online pointless - which, as I went with BT due to the quality of connection I could get is frustrating.  But anyway, all through this my NAT is permanently showing as Type 2 when I check on the PS4, which appears to indicate that I am connecting via a router (which I am).
Now, I do run an Xbox 360 but it's not powered on when I play the PS4, besides which the PS4 is in a DMZ so nothing the 360 does should cause a problem, unless it's down to UPnP switching port traffic to the 360 (though I have run with ports forwarded to the PS4 AND it in a DMZ to check).  The 360 is also permanently on Open NAT when I play Call of Duty.
This all leaves me tearing my hair out (if I'd never ever managed to open the NAT I'd probably be less frustrated).  If anyone has any other suggestions on how to solve it I'd be extremely greatful, as (for the moment) it's turned my PS4 into a very nice looking desk ornament.

    Add the port '3074'
i had same issue with ghosts on my ps4 used the suggested ports supplied by portforward.com no change still moderate but after reading through many various ideas and trying different versions i ended up just adding port 3074 to what portforward.com had already given and it worked.

  • Can I play Call of Duty Ghosts on my iMac (21,5" late 2013) with Windows 7 and Parallels

    Hey there,
I Have an iMac 21,5" 8GB RAM 1024MB 2,9Ghz. I buyed it in Feburary. I want to play Call of Duty Ghosts on my iMac i use Win7 with Parallels. I don't know if it works? I already have Skyrim and Fifa 14 and they work very well. So I want to ask you if i could play CoD Ghosts without any problems.
p.s. I dont really want to use Bootcamp only when ther is no other option.
    Thank you

The simple answer is yes. As long as the computer meets the minimum system requirements.
    The long answer is....maybe.
Parallels is a Virtual Machine for Windows, meaning that it runs on the Mac OS X Software. Bootcamp repartitions your HD and utilizes just the Mac's Hardware to run Windows using its own OS system files.
If you have 2 games already that run in Parallels right now with no issues, then I don't see why this new game would not work. However if it does not, you may want to consider a Bootcamp parition in order to keep your Windows and Mac OS X partitions separate in the event of any OS problems.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite A210-1AP - video card stopped working playing Call Of Duty 4

    Hello,
I am having problems with my video card.
When I was playing call of duty 4 in 5 minutes my video card stops working and screen restart.
Then it says Your video card stopped working, and problem solved.
My video card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600.

    > Then it says Your video card stopped working, and problem solved.
    And? Is it working now?
Possibly the graphic driver hung and therefore you received this message.
Its also possible that the GPU temperature was too high and therefore the message appeared.
The COC 4 needs a lot of hardware resources and everything must run with full performance! Therefore there is higher heat dissipation and this can lead to graphic card issues.

  • Qosmio X300 - Crashes while playing Call of Duty

    Hey,
I bought Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 couple days ago and when I play the game for like 30-60 min, my screen turns black, and my sound freezes; starting to sound like a chainsaw.
I've downloaded the latest graphic driver, but it didnt help. Anyone have a clue of what I can do?
I run a Qosmio X300 32bit Vista Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu T9600 @ 2,80 GHZ, 4GB RAM the game runs fine, but its starting to get annoying to turn off and on my computer every half an our to play the game.
    Any help would be appreticated.
    Regards Blood$urge ;)

Could you please update me on this issue (X300-15G)? I have same issue here.
Nvidia crashed Nwn2 with the supported out of date driver, so updated to a newer version 195.62, but the gpu went above 100C and laptop auto switched off to prevent damage.
So then I used a large fan in my room directed on the laptop, I had to wear sweater as to not to catch flu, not joking, but this way the game never crashed (tested through about 24 hours including 8-hour non-stop) and laptop never switched off. I dont want to do this though. and I know that unsuported drivers are to be used on one's own risk, but I thought I bought a gaming computer, so you see I need to do something to play...
Older driver crashed nwn2, crashed civ4 if I set antialias, showed texture artifacts in homm4 etc, so you see supported driver is useless for playing - at least older - games on win7 x64. It is extremely out of date.
I will try a full recovery from scratch someday (actually I donot think it will fix anything regarding mentioned games), but until then please inform me if there is a better fix.
Btw, In my oppininon it is not fair from toshiba that it does not release up-to-date nvidia drivers for X300 series, since supposedly this is a gaming laptop.

  • Performance issues while playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

    Hey.
I've noticed something really annoying when playing the game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 through Boot Camp (booting native of course) on my iMac.
It all runs smooth the first and maybe the second session, but when I continue to play for 3+ sessions it takes a LONG time for the game to load at the beginning of each map. Sometimes it's not even possible to do anything for almost 3 minutes straight.
It's extreme delay (like I had 0.1 FPS) and it continues to be like this for 3 minutes (or more), but it stops when I've played a while on the map. But then again, next map, it's the same story. I don't have any problems with any other game.
However, when I quit the game and start it up right after, it stops but starts over again. I can play smooth the first few rounds, then delay.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Hey XS...Sounds like memory or cache problems to me. How much memory do you have? Are you playing on XP, Vista or Win 7? Make sure you have all the updates that are available installed, such as, Apple Software Update (from within Windows ???), Windows ??? Updates themselves, and the latest COD/MW 2 updates.
I've just finished playing COD Modern Warfare 2 on my Mac and it was awesome. The graphics and scenery are unbelievable. Gameplay was smooth and very responsive. I detected no lag. Not sure how to check the fps though.
I have noticed that after the Windows Vista Desktop appears I have to wait about 2 minutes for Win to complete booting up. Probably something in the background. If I try to launch COD too quick then I sometimes get this "Steam" file compatibility alert. The same is true for quitting COD. I have to wait the same 2 minutes before I can reboot back into Mac OS. Too quick here causes a lot of delays and once a lockup that required a hard startup. Other than that no problems. There could also be some online communications in the background slowing things up. I believe a couple of inadvertent key presses could connect you to the Steam Online Community during gameplay but I'm not sure. I'm not very Windows savvy.
Game Problems: I had a couple of glitches at first that required a reboot but that seems to have been resolved with the latest in-game app update.
Also, my Boot Camp experiences have been flawless to perfect so far. Knock on wood.
    My setup-
    OS: OSX 10.6.2
    Processor: Mac Pro 2 x 2.66GHz
    Memory: 6 GB RAM
Video Card: 512 MB nVidia 8800GT, Apple 23" Cinema HD Display
Windows OS: Boot Camp 3.0.1 installed XP/Vista on separate, partitioned 250 GB internal HD (35GB / 215GB)
COD/MW 2 Installed: Standard install on Win Vista Ultimate partition
    Suggested-
    OS: Windows Vista / XP / 7
Processor: AMD 64 3200+ or Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz or better
Memory: 12 GB free HD space /1 Gb RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better, 256 MB nVidia GeForce 6600GT / ATI Radeon 1600XT or better

The M400 has a weak graphics card in it that barely supports Vista's Aero Desktop system. The Intel 945 Graphics Chipset is not fully compatible with DirectX9 dispite what the checks say, some of the DirectX9 work is done via emulation on the CPU.
As for Call of Duty 4, I doubt there is any chance of getting it working let alone a decent frame rate.
I own an M400 and it was one of the things I knew would be a problem when I purchased it.
    Sorry :(

  • IMac play Call of Duty 4?

Which will run Call of Duty at the best performance or will there be any difference at all?
Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB memory
Refurbished iMac 24-inch 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory

Ok, with this version you are going to need the following:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.5.4 or later
Digital download version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.4GHz or higher recommended)
    1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
128MB video RAM (256MB recommended); ATI Radeon X1600, NVidia Geforce 7300, or higher (Intel integrated video chipsets are not supported)
8GB hard disk space (+ 1GB Swap File); DVD-ROM drive; Internet play requires broadband connection
If I were you, I'd check with the software manufacture here http://www.aspyr.com/
    then click Contact Us. http://www.aspyr.com/about/contact_us
Ask them about the different video cards. They can tell you exactly what you need. They wrote the software so they would know best.

  • Playing Call of Duty II on my new MacBook Pro... Not Good!

    Hey
Just bought a brand new MacBook Pro with ALL the trimmings - and Call of Duty II makes my mac run like I was playing on a Commodor 64.
Does anybody had the same experience - and have you found patches or updates that fixes this problem?
    Thanks!
    Mikkel

Well, I can offer some things that helped me out *a lot*.
First, I also suffered interminably from my MacBook Pro's malaise while doing 3D gaming-- wondering why I was running games so poorly on a piece of iron that was relatively recent. So, here are the solutions I tried in order.
    1) Increased my 2GB of RAM to 3GB of RAM via a Crucial.com RAM purchase. Cost me $100 bucks. I think it was worth it for my gaming and other needs. I have to say that this change alone I did before I ran the Call of Duty 2 demo. I own Crysis and found that the expanded RAM only improved my gaming slightly (~30%). With Crysis and 3GB of RAM, I still had chunky gameplay and I found that 1024x768 was largely unplayable when there was a lot of action on the screen.
    2) I made sure that both Bootcamp and Windows XP had all of the latest software updates. Run "Automatic Update" from XP (I'm assuming you're running XP) and then use Apple's "Software Update" mechanism (search for it, if you can't find it) that Apple has built into Windows in order to update Apple's software on the Bootcamp side of the house, too.
    3) I downloaded the "Mobility Modder" application (you can get it at driverheaven.net for free) that runs under XP and Vista. Someone else on the forums suggested it, and I also recommend it. It let me tweak the settings of my ATI Radeon card (check to see if your brand and model of card is supported) and then download the latest drivers for my MacBook Pro. (Personally, I have an ATI Radeon X1600 card in my MBP.) The app is free. Also, when you download the new ATI drivers you get this "free" application called EarthSim. It's very cool and when I plugged my MacBook into my HDTV using a DVI-->HDMI cable, it was beautiful seeing the earth on the screen. Absolutely gorgeous!
    4) Finally, ensure you download an app like WinClone and backup your Windows partition before you start tweaking stuff (or after, if you're feeling adventurous). I find that it took me eons to get all my software working correctly in XP and it prevents a major re-installation of stuff should you change a setting on something that suddenly hoses something.
    5) Lastly, there are those pesky graphics settings in Call of Duty 2. Do not let the app make the "recommended graphics suggestions" for you! It'll give you horrible eye-candy. I haven't copied down my settings (to share with you), but I can tell you that I changed it to 1024x768. Turned on 2x anti-aliasing. SyncEveryFrame was set to OFF. I also turned OFF the other setting underneath SyncEveryFrame. Most other stuff I turned on or set to at least NORMAL. Naturally, YMMV.
I manually changed almost all of the settings to try to take advantage of the "new" horsepower my MacBook Pro was packing with the Mobility Modder app having put me in fighting shape.
    Good luck!

  • Why can't I play call of duty 4 on my matchbook pro early 2011?

I have recently purchase the call of duty 4 from the mac app store it took my mac from 10 pm till 5am the next day to download the game on a fast wify home connection ,when it finaly dowload I start playing the game first thing I nottice was the sreen was frezzing up, well I continue to play with the screen doing that play the game first mission like that ,but wen I got to the second mission my mac just froze up ???????
then I when and unninstall the app ,reinstall it ,play it againg nothing change still doing the same thing it was doing before ,so I whent to the game  support website , I found a patch to dowload for my mac ,download it try to istall it ,massege came up telling me that the call of duty 4 ap was not install corectly ,so I when back unninstall the app for the second time reinstall it one more time nothing change the game still doing the same thing is frezzing up is really frustrating this hole thing it just suck ............can anybody help me understand this please ,and yes my macbook pro is an early 2011 2 ghz intel core i7 ,500gb ,4GB 1333 MHz DDR3  ................

What model is your Mac? It's under the About this Mac > More info (Apple menu)
Go to energy saver and disable graphics swtiching, if you don't see it, then you don't have a "3D gamers" laptop or a video card strong enough to run the game.
Only a 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz or better can run the game as it has a stong video card.
Intel HD 3000 graphics only Mac's need not apply.

  • Can I play call of duty on my new 13inch macbook pro corei7?

I bought my new macbook pro 13inch corei7 2 month ago.
in "Tech Spec" we see this : " Graphics     :                               Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory "  and no memory graphics!!  Is it mean that I can`t play video games like fifa games and call of duty?
I`m actually sad right now! I wish I`ll run that games on my laptop....
    Answer me please....

    No.
If you wanted a 3D gamers laptop, you needed a 15"/17" 2.2/2.3 Ghz with the Radeon 6750M in it. (scores 30)
    The 15" 2.0 Ghz scores 18.
Your best option now since you blew your wad on the 13" MacBook Nothing, is to get yourself a PS3 or a Windows 7 64bit 4GB RAM expandable desktop machine and a 3D gamers card.
Were as your Intel HD 3000 scores a measly 11 on the Cinebench scale, you could get a Windows tower and peg it out at up to 90 with the right video card.

  • Bootcamp with windows 7 pro 32bit playing call of duty 4 modern warfare

i hope that this topic is correct in this forum..recently boot camp with windows 7 professional 32bit and install call of duty modern warfare and run the game..when i play the game..everything run smoothly..however when i press escape and goes into the pause menu..my screen hangs there..i can't move my mouse..y is it so?anyway to fix this?however when i press escape back..it goes back into the game after some time..hope i can get some help here..thanks..: )

I have exact the same problem with COD4 and my iMac and thought I'm the only one so far. So I'm sure, it is not an hardware issue, but a driver issue (esp. since the bootcamp 3.1 drivers are really outdated). Installing the latest ATI mobility catalyst drivers (i.e., 10.6) helped me at least a little by making this screen blanking somewhat more rarely but didn't solve it completely. However, I guess we have to wait until Apple fixes the iPhone issues first until they can gather some resources to update the bootcamp ATI drivers from *NOVEMBER 2009*!

  • Tecra M1: Need OpenGL option to play Call of Duty

    Hi!
Does anyone know if there is a driver for the Trident CyberXP4 video card that supports OpenGL?
The game Call of duty does not start.
I already installed the lates driver I got from the Toshiba Website. Tridents driver download page is unreachable since at least one week...
    Thanks in advance!
    Dominik

    Hi
I have read in this forum that its not advisable to install different graphic drivers. Its recommend using the Toshiba graphic driver.
If you want to install another graphic drivers so you can do it at our own risk.
Anyway, I have googled a little bit and found this Trident Video Accelerator.
    http://www.soft32.com/download_174769.html
But I dont know if it will enable the OpenGL on your graphic card.

  • Playing Call of Duty 4 online

    Hi,
Do the mac users play with the PC users online or is there a whole different COD4 world for Mac and PC's ?
    Sincerely

As far as my experience goes, the Mac version I used online was 1.7 which worked with any PC version. I think the Mac is up to 1.71:
