Anyone Runnin iPod Classic on 10.3.9 ???
I've heard from people that the ipod classic isn't compatible with 10.3.9 and i've heard that it is compatible with 10.3.9. Apple's website says you need at least 10.4.8 to run it.
Can someone help me out so i dont purchase tiger if i dont need it??

It definetly doesnt work with 10.3.9, at this very moment I'm looking a mac mini which is a smidge over two and a half years old and at a nice shiny classic sitting next to it and they ain't talking to each other. The reason I visited this forum was to find out if an update or something was available yet to allow it to work, clearly not (and presumably Apple have no intention of doing the decent thing).
I agree that it is entirely my fault for not reading the system requirements on the box. But as others elsewhere have indicated, the initial manual clearly said it would work. Also it is not unreasonable to assume that a computer system that is still recent enough to be covered by an applecare warranty shouldn't be treated as obsolete by it's own manufacturers. They seem to have given the older Windows XP the dignity of support, so why not users of Panther? It was bad enough that I bought a new mac and then they finally announced Tigers release (so I was a wek or so too early to get a courtesy upgrade), now they are forcing me to upgrade if I want a new ipod. Call me a cynic but the only reason I can see for cutting off Panther users is to try and lever some more money out of them via upgrades. After all, according to their own figures a few months ago one third of Mac owners don't run Tiger, and I'm sure a fair proportion of those are Panther users, Talk about alienating your customers, Apple customers are generally a loyal bunch, it'd be nice if that worked both ways. I won't forget this in a hurry...

Have you checked if your Earphones are working?
Do you get the Music menu after the reset? (what is display on the Screen? song playing)
Normally if you Reset the iPod, it will turn the shuffle mode off, but do check under setting that shuffle mode is off. -
How can I get my itunes onto my new laptop? Do I need to download itunes again or can I just copy it? My ipod classic has since been soaked in water and does not work so I cannot copy from there. Can anyone help?
You should copy everything from your old comptuer to your new one.

I recently bought a second-hand ipod classic. When connecting to itunes the message reads that the ipod is corrupt and needs to be restored to factory settings. However, this does not solve the issue and I get the message saying unable to restore, unknown error 1439. No matter what i have tried through apple support i get the same result. My computer runs Windows XP but I have also tried on my laptop which operates Vista and still no joy. Anyone able to solve this one?
Normally unknown error is due to timeout, cause by
connected to slow USB port at the front of the PC, or using USB Hubs - Better connect to the USB HUb at the back of the PC. (Some Laptop, has only one High Power -USB2.0 port
USB resource low, due to sharing of other USB devices - Disconnect all other USB devices when Restoring.
Winsocks conflict with iTunes - Disconnect Internet and Stop firewall and Antivirus, emails apps.

after my most recent update, my ipod classic will no longer sync with itunes, and I get a warning message that"this disc cannot be repaired by this computer", anyone else have something similar? The ipod plays well otherwise, I just can't sync or load new music

TS1363 IPOD classic not baing recognised in itunes, can anyone help me please?
i habve an ipod classic when i first used it it was fine but then it started stopping syncing half way through saying there was an error and my songs would cut off half way through or just not play now when i connect it to the computer it dosent show up in itunes but does in my computer. i messege in my itunes pops up saying i need to restore my ipod yet my ipod dosent show up in itunes to do this. i have tried uninstalling intunes and reinstalling it again i have tried using a different laptop but nothing works can anyone help me please?

The 'Shuffle' function on my iPod Classic no longer works on my iPod or in my vehicle (2012 Acura TL). It worked prior to syncing in iTunes using my MacbookPr .Now I can only play music sequentially. Can anyone assist?

My daughter bought a 4th generation ipod classic without a charger. The ipod was working just fine, but then we tried to charge it using a brand new charger for an Ipod Touch. It won't charge and someone online someone posted that there ipod touch charger worked on the ipad, phone and whatever else he had but it wouldn't work on the classic. Anyone else have this same issue? Any solutions?
The ipod did not come with a power cord as we purchased it used from ebay. The ipod was half charged when we received it and it worked well enough to transfer songs to my computer (the previous seller didn't delete their 2000 plus songs). My son then used the same cord on his computer to transfer the songs, but processed an update to the ipod and after that,it wouldn't work. So, I'm not sure if we received a bum ipod, an update issue or we have a charger issue, but the cord we used to transfer the songs came from my son's brand new ipod touch. We've also tried 2 other chargers from ipods we have in the house, 1 being a wall charger.
One individual posted online that he took his ipod classic, mac and phone overseas with one charger and it worked fine on all but the classic. So, I'm thinking that they cords may not be universal. Online I've read that it must be a 6 pin firewire, high power 2.0 usb cord. Or that I need to purchase an applie charger. We don't live close to an apple store and I'm reluctant to order one just to have it NOT work.
My daughter is learning the hard way that buying off of ebay is not always the best solution to a cash strapped 12 year old.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated. -
Just brought IPod Classic. When sync my iTunes library to iPod multiple files, up to 20times are copying in all music categories. Apple support got me restoring iPod then creating a whole new iTunes library in a new user on my computer. Did this, sync again, same problem. Anyone experienced this?
ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

My iPod classic (2007) 80 GB FROZEN SCREEN (Now Playing window showing the song that is suppose to be playing, will not respond to buttons, Will not SYNC, iTunes does not recognize it AT ALL when I plug it in. Will not shut off, will not charge... pretty frustrated, I updated it recently (within the last 10 days....Has anyone had similar experience? If so was it fixed? Please post any help for me... thank you... I am pretty frustrated right now.its fixed!! After posting my problem with the FROZEN ipod classic (2007) 80 gb a screen popped up with similar subjects that I did not find in my original search. 'Rich Fleming' in the community posted a suggestion to someone with a similar frozen issue and it WORKED when I tried it.
hold the 'menu' and the 'circle' buttons down at the same time, KEEP the pressed until the apple appears. and now it is working. Hope this helps others. -
When I sync my iPod classic with iTunes, it doesn't download three movies that I purchased from iTunes. Anyone have any idea why and what I need to do about it?

My Ipod classic has frozen. Have tried pressing menu/centre button and resetting, but still won't work. Can anyone help please.

I getting no sound out of the USB connection in my cars from my new iPod classic. The song name artist display on the console in the car but no audio. This is happening on 2 cars - Nissan Rogue and Acura TL. My older iPod classic played fine in these cars. Has anyone encountered this issue?
I have a similar problem with a 160 gb Classic, about 5 years old - if I move the plug one channel may be heard and tehn the other. The interface works but not the sound. Different ipods eg nano work perfectly.
The two cars I have are an Audi and a BMW and both have manufacturer connectors -

If it is under warranty, bring it in to Apple Store, most of our suggestions, comes from the Apple support site..
Besides Restoring the iPod, there are winsocks which have conflict with iTunes, perhaps, disable those plugins and disconnect the Internet and stop antivirus, while you are Restoring or Syncing the iPod. -
my computer broke down and i needed to install everything new. now all my music is only on my ipod classic. does anyone have an idea how to get the music back on the computer without deleting it on the ipod?
